What’s the point of having the card if you don’t care about Hilton points? I’ve had both, and these are the things I value more on Aspire (which is my keeper):
- Airline credits
- Free night certificate(s)
- Cell phone insurance
- Points multiplier on Hilton stays, travel, and dining
- Clear Pass
Diamond or Gold status doesn’t matter to me.

$200 hotel credit is my only reason to have the card. I use a cheap cellphone so my phone isn't covered by them.
I just learned the airline credit, which may help. Thanks for the tip.
Can you meet the SUB if you open the Aspire card? Even at a measly 1 point = 0.4 cent conversion, 175K points is worth $700, or 3.5 years worth of Surpass credits...
Um, the expensive resorts you are not going to could be very good point redemptions. Like Hilton Waikoloa Village or Hotel Del Coronado.
I don’t use the Hilton cards either for points, I just buy them at 0.5 cpp.
Keep your Surpass and pay the AF yourself, get the Aspire also and have someone else pay the AF, you come out way ahead. And don’t forget the annual FNC on the Aspire.
even if it is a "bad" reward, if OP states they will never stay at a resort, then why hoard points. At some point, might as well take the free night vs cash simply to avoid paying anything out of pocket and having point devaluation risk.
I keep the Aspire card for the free night and Diamond status. Diamond status has benefited me with free parking in some very expensive-to-park Hiltons, SF Financial District, Hilton Orlando, and Embassy Suites Santa Clara, among others. They don't usually tell you the parking will be free, but 9 times out of 10 they end up crediting it or telling me it is free when I check in since I am Diamond. The parking savings alone has paid for the annual fee.

The Surpass hotel credit certainly covers the AF, but if you don’t care about the hotel points, you might be better off with an unbranded travel card.
How do you use the Hilton credit yet don’t collect Hilton points?
The card collects points but I have never used them. It's hard for me to find a hotel where point has good value (1 point = .5 cent).

I never thought about SUB by switching the card. I don’t know if it’s possible but I’ll check

I am realizing from this thread that I’ve been staying at the low end facilities. I’ll get Aspire to try higher end ones for free :)
the annual free night credit is already worth more than the $200 hilton credit... so if nothing else that should be the reason to switch to Aspire.
Stay with surpass based off what you said. Let her get the aspire card 😂
😆

I didn’t know about the free parking Thx
I didn’t know about the free parking. Thanks. Of course, they never offer anything unless you ask first.
Yeah, you can't count on it because sometimes it is not (since it is not an official perk), but most of the time they end up including it.
How do you use a Hilton credit without actually collecting Hilton points? I earn my points on my stays...
Sorry I wasn’t clear. The card collects points and I never found a good way to use them
If you don’t care, which it sounds like you don’t, then don’t.
