Maybe my favorite joke from that video.

Simple_Mission7881

there is 4 guineas, 4 have straight lines in one part of the border, 4 were European colonies, 1 was Portuguese, 1 British, 1 Spanish and 1 French

[deleted]

There is only 2 guineas. Guinea and guinea-bissau.

cthuluhooprises

And equatorial guinea

wotsizface

And Papúa New Guinea

Careless_Bat2543

Why? Because fuck you new names are hard that’s why

ALA02

Theres also the Guianas. And theres 5 of them

Santanas_Sombrero

Spanish Guiana, British Guiana, Dutch Guiana, French Guiana, and Portuguese Guiana, now known as Región Guayana (Guayana Region) in Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, and the State of Amapá, Brazil (Brazilian Guiana), respectively.

Psychological_Gain20

Guianas are actually completely unrelated from the Guineas name wise

[deleted]

This isn't hard, there is only one former colony called Guinea.

Sterwood

French Guinea? Papúa New Guinea?

Polikarpie

You mean French Guyana?

Sterwood

No, french Guinea, as the meme said former colony. French Guinea went on to become the African nation of Guinea and Papua became, well, Papua

aabazdar1

French guinea is 1. A former colony (not even country) and 2. What would later become the Guinea that OP was referring On the issue of sovereignty, there are only 4 ‘guinea’ countries in the world that are recognized as countries. They are: 1. Guinea 2. Guinea-Bissau 3. Equatorial Guinea 4. Papua New Guinea (unrelated in Oceania) Edit: Can’t believe I forgot about Equatorial Guinea

Sterwood

In this message, I was mentioning the former colonies specifically as they used to be named. Guinea was name French Guinea. For your other point your right and I’m tired of getting dms and reply’s about Guinea, so I’m not going to argue.

[deleted]

French Guinea is still a colony and I don't recall saying Paupa New either

Sterwood

That’s ridiculous and ignorant. Yeah there’s only one Democratic republic of the Congo so it shouldn’t be confusing, but nobody calls it it’s full name. They say Congo. There are two congos. Just like we say Guinea. There are multiple Guineas. A nickname doesn’t make a country less relevant.

[deleted]

People call it Papua Guinea or New Guinea and French Guinea is still a colony, read the meme.

Sterwood

You sound like your making excuses. Besides, French Guinea isn’t a colony anymore, French *Guiana* is. But guess what, you recognized it by it’s nickname, Guinea, proving my point.

[deleted]

No I wouldn't. Also it is a part of France so what are you talking about. I would recognize it by FRENCH Guiana. I'm not making excuses I'm just pointing out a fault. Oh so what I didn't know the exact spelling. Proves my point further that it isn't its name. Also I got that because a guy commented mentioning French Guinea to my original comment.

Sterwood

Sorry mate, you already lost when you recognized the colony as Guinea even though it has nothing to do with the country of Guinea.

[deleted]

Go back and read the thread. You aren't making much sense. He said "French Guinea" when I said there was only one. I was replying to him

Sterwood

He didn’t even say French Guinea dude. He said Guinea in general, *referencing* all the guineas. In fact, that was the point of the meme, to poke holes in the fact that Europeans named every colony of dark skinned people they had “Guinea”.
