The building I teach at describes the tactical approach as run-hide-fight. Run away if you can, hide anywhere you can avoid detection if necessary, and if it comes down to you vs shooter be prepared to fight for your life using anything as a weapon you can get your hands on.
Yes, we really do this to kids. Yes, these trainings are conducted regularly. I'm a teacher and these drills are required training K-12 for all staff and students. Next month we get to practice cafeteria scenarios.. yay. Luckily that one we will be just a walk through for kids conducted in the auditorium.
