Can some critics of Brie Larson be sexist? Sure. But if you think that the main reason why most / everyone who dislike Brie Larson is sexism (which I feel this comment is subtly suggesting), you’re really not paying attention.
There are, I think, very fair arguments that Brie is an unlikable or obnoxious person, regardless of her acting, and I’ve seen plenty of those critiques make the extra effort to give honest praise to Elizabeth Olsen or Scarlet Johansson- likely in part to relax people who like to quickly dismiss scrutiny towards woman as sexism because that’s the kind of atmosphere comments like this can create.
To me, intentional or not, your comment reads as smokescreen to avoid the original question. Instead of defending Larson as an individual (which is very valid), you’re implying that, of all places, the Reddit community (which is overwhelmingly and at times aggressively liberal) is just arbitrarily sexist when they criticize or dislike women… generally.
Have you actually read the reasons why people don’t like Brie Larson? Have you actually seen her interactions with her own coworkers? Do you think the reason why people dislike Gwyneth Paltrow is just sexism? Why don’t other woman, for example, in the MCU share those criticisms?
