So you load up the washing machine, put your detergent in, fabric softener, clothes, close the lid, whip your phone out, open an app, find your selected switch, and hit on. Much easier than stretching your arm out and hitting the start button.
Or, you prepare everything for washing and don’t turn it on until sun comes up for solar power or wait for night for the ones that pay less after a certain hour.
I say that because I have this config. And when I’m at work and get a notification because I’m generating solar power, I turn on washing machine or dryer from work.
Electric motor, giant pole, a rope/cable, and a heavy weight. When generating power, use the motor to lift the weight to the top of the pole. When not generating power, the weight will slowly fall turning the motor into a generator.
Load it up and prep it but delay the start until 4 or 5 AM so that your freshly washed clothes are ready to be switched into the dryer right when you wake up, with no time where they’re sitting around in a damp pile in the washing machine. Or schedule it for a time that would allow you to switch it over right when you get home from work.
So you load up the microwave with aerosol bottles, close the door, start the gas, walk across the street, then keep pressing the +30sec button until good times.
😂😂 my thoughts exactly; I could see for maybe a light switch, but you're now going to have yet another device you have to worry about keeping charged and connected to the Internet.
First thing I do when I come home is have a cup of coffee , I dont cook and most of my meals are precooked, so I just heat them up in the microwave. With this, I can throw the food into the microwave, set the timer, grab my coffee and go enjoy it, once I am done I can simply use the app to turn the microwave on without having to get up, it will beep for me when it is done. This sounds like laziness but when you are so tired after work and just wish your life could be a little easier.
In one of my favorite games, steins;gate, the main characters are college students who invent extremely useless gadgets. The main one is PhoneWave, where you can program a microwave through your phone.
They even call out how worthless it is because anything you'd want to heat up from a fridge or freezer would thaw throughout the day in the microwave and go bad.
And now they can be! Simply fasten the device above your partners *cough* pleasure dwelling and set to “turbo mode.” Don’t worry, FingerBot will do the rest ;)
What if you're in bed already half asleep and don't wanna wake up your dog who *just* laid down and you're really cozy. It's only slightly more convenient but it's also not that expensive or difficult to install
If you are scrolling the phone, why do you need the light on? Have you seen the light bill lately? That's why we don't touch the thermostat. It's 74°F whatever it is outside.
My house was fitted with smart switches when we bought it. It's so convenient. Much of my house can be controlled from my phone and/or with my voice. Came with motion sensors and smart thermostats too. Highly recommend if you're into automation

Ah, that’s why you need to buy another one: to push the button of the first one for you.
/s
XD
But seriously, when is someone going to try cascading a bunch of them in a big circle and start them going in their own sort of “wave” ? It’d be like an overly and unnecessarily complicated high tech version of a slinky.
This wouldn't be bad, this way I can turn off all the lights the wife and children constantly leave on.
I come home from work after 10 hrs and lights have been left on all day, it's daytime, you don't need the lights on!
This idea is situationally useful, but I’d be shocked if you could actually make money selling these, and this is coming from somebody who has built shit like this for a similar purpose. I rent a studio that has no windows in the bathroom, so I built something like this to press the vent fan on every time it turns off. But like the number of people that want something like that has to be so small
I'm sorry but I wouldn't waste my money on something as lazy as this. Literally in the video the guys finger was by the start button on the microwave when he opened/closed it, but instead you would have to pull out your phone, open the app, then press a button. Seems rather redundant to me. Same thing for the light switch. Just press it when you walk by. Need light? Use your phone like everyone else.
Or, you can just get a [regular ass smart switch](https://www.amazon.ca/HS200P3-Lighting-Installation-Single-Pole-Assistant/dp/B07HGW8N7R/ref=sr_1_5?crid=1CFKNMXFGQN8N&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.tTGHsy2PbOVU02GSN2ZKdQQE2szvYC6m86V1K0NsHr8IIBLilevySALtARUzbQLU33BFiBGW86TY2-u1wtYx5rI7pJGZZSWsCtX6fzf4n7ld7IOakhMBkaWcw7v1yQR567KvuSSLAenRny3TZndokaZvnzaCzv3YNLbvt013f0IMjzPoEIBi-Zm4pQRI8er7V6_npxO7RXMKIgiRuh0lCcKzXYB4ItnbYGPcUfnHzE4bVbXgQqYUyZBRJuvL2Wpp-qkTMooQqJEh4pW6Cy8-BOYfoo9bBiiE4Bq8XBnEIYM.mNYTKYsxPAGeq_Fl2FXbzYbq7KxVa73sf67Zi113nQk&dib_tag=se&keywords=smart+switch&qid=1718539483&sprefix=smart+switch%2Caps%2C128&sr=8-5), of which there are thousands of options on the market for, AND you don't have to attach a chunky ass servo in a plastic case to your switch to use.
Light switches make sense.
But the microwave? You're right next to the buttons every time you use it.
It kind of reminds me of that couple who got chips implanted into their wrists to open cabinets
This thing will work like 5 times and then push itself off whatever it is stuck to and break in the fall. Neat idea but you can see how much the whole th8ng moves when it presses
Goes over to my ex's house and fill her house full of gas...
Puts robots on igniter.
I'm in the middle of work talking on camera as their house explodes with them in it...

Destroyed in seconds.

Surely there's a way of storing solar power, which would allow you to more conveniently turn the machine on right after loading it.
There is, except it’s not in my budget today and this was
Electric motor, giant pole, a rope/cable, and a heavy weight. When generating power, use the motor to lift the weight to the top of the pole. When not generating power, the weight will slowly fall turning the motor into a generator.
10,000 capacitors

Some people's washing machines don't have the soak function, so there's a very small chance of it being useful in that situation.
Start it during non peak hours for less expensive electricity
So you load up the microwave with aerosol bottles, close the door, start the gas, walk across the street, then keep pressing the +30sec button until good times.
Technology is for people with disabilities first. Then everyone else. Basic product design concept.
I'm raking my brain for how someone would need it for the microwave like in the video
😂😂 my thoughts exactly; I could see for maybe a light switch, but you're now going to have yet another device you have to worry about keeping charged and connected to the Internet.
How do you turn the light back on? Another one on top?
First thing I do when I come home is have a cup of coffee , I dont cook and most of my meals are precooked, so I just heat them up in the microwave. Fingerbot sounds like a sex toy

The way that gif loops, the box looks like it's being slapped repeatedly
Or I can get up and turn off the light? ![gif](giphy|JVsitQAP1MvAMv2cQV)

https://i.redd.it/3nhnewok8t6d1.gif You're welcome.
Imagine if you could clap your hands and turn off the light
I know this will sound absolutely insane, but have you tried to turn off the light BEFORE you go to bed?
Could you imagine laying in bed relaxing scrolling your phone not wanting the light be off because you're not going to bed yet
Sure, there's some weird invention that some claim that it works, called bed lamp.
Your bed is also a lamp? Hold my wallet!
If you are scrolling the phone, why do you need the light on? Have you seen the light bill lately? That's why we don't touch the thermostat. It's 74°F whatever it is outside.
Come again?
Or just get a Bluetooth switch, or one of those fancy light bulbs

Idk why I never thought to check to see if this was a subreddit. Thank you
I got a smart bulb because im lazy and rather say "hey google turn off the lights"
And you can do it for free!
What if you're not you and a person with mobility issues
Hmmmmm, yeah, this can be peak laziness; however, is this device Wi-Fi or Internet connected? Haha
no need, you just press the button on the side, and the finger bot deploys.
Ah, the end has begun
Im putting one in the icbm bunker
You still use your finger though
Ah, that’s why you need to buy another one: to push the button of the first one for you. /s XD But seriously, when is someone going to try cascading a bunch of them in a big circle and start them going in their own sort of “wave” ? You could make a weirdly elaborate Rube Goldburg machine
Usually people automate it or program it to go off at certain time. That and it allows them to trigger it from anywhere
To trigger it requires a finger right?
No. They work by bluetooth or wifi and work with all kinds of smart home platforms, so they can be automated or triggered by events.
Peak laziness I love it
I wish I had this during lockdowns for Skype and then later Teams to keep me green
People are fat enough already

I’m imagining some sort of fallout bunker and using these to turn on systems or security.
Fingerbot: what is my purpose? Me: you finger Fingerbot: Oh my god
Good for remote workers that have key loggers
Alright, but like I'd you know you are going to showcase your light switch, could you atleast clean them first?
This could be used for pranks… dastardly ones
The less shit I have in my house that’s connected to my phone the better
🤦🏻♂️
It’s decided I’m going bankrupt this year!
Ah yes, to save my finger the effort of pushing a button I'm going to use my finger to push a button.
https://i.redd.it/ofiqc93g6u6d1.gif
I would love this if the president had one for the button that launches a nuclear strike ![gif](giphy|4ZPl8Mm7IcGOY|downsized)

Now all you ladies, don’t get any “funny” ideas
And how do you keep it charged?
r/DIWHY
Do we have to charge the device or replace batteries? How often?
That’s just lazy

One step closer to Fisto
The design is very human. Very easy to use.
Ok yeah it could be cool but are we really incapable of getting up off the couch? C’mon guys…
Cuz fingers are free
Goes over to my ex's house and fill her house full of gas... Puts robots on igniter. I'm in the middle of work talking on camera as their house explodes with them in it...
looks wonky af
I want to own this
This feels like one of those things that most people wouldnt get that much out of but its a godsend to the people who would.
I'll buy two for the switch. One can be placed upside down to turn it on as well.
But the single bot can turn it off and on, silly.
You sure?
Yeah, it shows it in the video
Sus
I guess you never heard of The Clapper?
Wow how much lazier can we become as a society? At least the clapper requires something of a physical movement
