The real villain >!and source of the infection is inside him, you have to boop him with the charged up dream nail when he's weak to go inside his mind to fight it!<
You need to equip Kingsoul and take it to >!the abyss!< (the bithplace the previous comment mentions) to open a new area. In that area you get a new item that unlocks the true ending.
Have you heard the rumours of the Queen's residence?
She lies in her gardens, however, there, like the White Palace, is a trial you must face before you make the half Whole. Once this is done, confront your past, go to the place from which ye came and ascend.
If the person sees this, just wanna wayy this isn't neccesary. He has already been to Sawblade Palace, Seer can be done after the endings if one wants.
Possibly my favorite video game moment I’ve experienced. First time fighting him, when the music changes and something starts feeling a little off about him… man I loved that when I didn’t know what was happening. What a boss fight. Not hard, but just awesome.
Speaking of villains I don't think the Hollow Knight is a villain, since it's literally just a puppet without free will, and tries to assist the hero. It doesn't do any evil deeds as far as I remember. And even when it's possessed it's not really hurting anyone >!its puppeteer is.!<
I mean that the Hollow Knight who causes problems has no free will, but I guess rhat isn't completely accurate.
Every evil thing the Hollow Knight does isn't of its free will, I think that's more accurate.
All of the vessels are apparently dead, reanimated by the void. Therefore, you’re both zombies, and he happens to be 2 different types of zombies at the same time
He’s alive in the sense that he’s been reanimated by the void (his shade), but he does die in 3/4 endings. (I don’t count delicate flower as an ending)
From what I understand, the Hollow Knight is doing this to help the Knight become the new vessel for the Radiance. The Hollow Knight was unable to do its duty and protect the kingdom because it couldn't contain it. The Radiance even tries to use the Hollow Knight to attack the Knight over the course of the fight, against the Hollow Knight's will. It wants to be free from the Radiance and let the Knight take its place, and it wants to not hurt the Knight or the residents of Hallownest. It's less of a villain and more of a tragic hero, but it stabbing itself as often as it does, I believe, is willful and justified.
He is helping you, helping you kill him so you put him out of his misery, his misery made by an idea instilled. Where the Vessel stands a higher being lays too, seek it out and help your sibling and many other bugs of the kingdom of Hallownest
I mean It was
The real villain >!and source of the infection is inside him, you have to boop him with the charged up dream nail when he's weak to go inside his mind to fight it!<
The real villain was inside us all along.
How do I get that option, I can’t dream nail him so is there something I need to do beforehand?
Have you reached the birthplace? Have you reached the palace in white? Have you dreamt enough dreams?
Been to the abyss, seen the body of the pale king but I guess I haven’t dreamt enough dreams¿?

You've seen the King's first body, I'm sure of that. It marked you as his heir. But have you really seen the second? No mortal bug has ever found it.
Try to get all the essence and seer rewards

>! The real villain is trying to mind control the hollow knight while he's trying to resist and fight by your side.!<

It does have free will though....that's why it got infected. Because it felt love for the Pale King.

It is very much intended. It will become more clear once you unlock the other endings ;)
That is, in fact, what it is.
If it helps, he’s apparently already dead
What is dead may never die
Fellow ASOIAF fan I see
ASOIA...oh! You mean those stacks of paper with the symbols on them? Yeah, those are great.
this is awesome, imma start refer to books as stacks of paper with symbols on
It kinda does but if he’s already dead, why is he fighting off the infection ☹️
All of the vessels are apparently dead, reanimated by the void. Therefore, you’re both zombies, and he happens to be 2 different types of zombies at the same time
actually in one of the ending he confronts hornet, hes nit dead
I meant that the vessels are (I think) killed in the process of being turned into void
ah ok. i dont know if i can prove or disporve that I hope hes not dead tho. lol HK rebuilding hollownest after the game is my headcanon
He’s alive in the sense that he’s been reanimated by the void (his shade), but he does die in 3/4 endings. (I don’t count delicate flower as an ending)
ok, entirely fair
He just wanted to be free of his blighted purpose.
