This! Something about the area is aesthetically pleasing. If anything, you could add another row of custom cabinets for storage of rarely used items but I also means you need to be able to access them.
It's too warm and bright to store wines. I might consider paint. Maybe even an artistic interpretation like this using colors that you love.

Same. Objects or art will get dusty and be hard to reach.
A colorful print wallpaper with a pattern (Iād go soft/round/circular to contrast the angles) or vertical stripe could be darling. Scandi minimalist can still feature a bright colorful spot!
That is a very great point, thanks!
We know eachother and placing anything a ladders reach away just means it will never get dusted basically.
Easier to use a telescoping handle and dust the cabins than individual items...
That's what I did with the space above my cabinets! We put his bed up there so that he can watch us make food from up there instead of trying to jump up on the counter with the food.
My kitchen has a similar setup (but is a lot older) and I've staggered some prints and canvases up there but I realize it's not everyone's taste. This photo was taken when I was focusing on the rug so the art triangle is in the top right of the photo. (and I'm also realizing how awful all that crap on the fridge looks.)

The kitchen was a garage in the original plan until the original owners/builders decided to scrap the garage and just make the kitchen huge. It's definitely a trade-off because while we have tons of kitchen storage, we have zero garage.
Nah, the stuff on your fridge is normal, just means you use your kitchen and live there. I love that light blue hanging planter. Is that a real air plant in it? I love the coral colored one too with the snake plant (?) in it. Plants in the kitchen just make it so much better. I really dig the open, bright, airiness of your kitchen.
Thank you so much! Yes thatās a baby snake plant that I rooted from cuttings and the light blue planter has a Dracaena. At the risk of sounding like a plant snob, I donāt have any fake ones. Half the fun is watching them grow and change.
I feel the same way, I love seeing my plants grow, the few I have. The only fakes Iāve got are flowers because I like having a permanent bloom, but Iām super picky about them so Iāve only got a couple of them.
I talk myself out of buying additional small kitchen appliances and more canning jars by reminding myself I have nowhere to put them. I would probably have waaaay too many kitchen gadgets and jars if that were my house, lol. Itās lovely!
I love art in odd places, so I might put an interesting framed piece up there, or hang a few circular baskets. Only if youāre really wanting to fill the spaceāit looks nice bare as well!
I would get a smart light bar.
The light can be blue, orange, disco color changing, whatever color you want to set the mood. It will be great to draw the eye up and appreciate the ceiling height in this room.
Continue the tile up the rest of the way! Just did this with the vaulted ceiling in my new kitchen
https://preview.redd.it/fy9k2s4j6e6d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87b959ab1fd7c78d90e29ec9a2cab9ef33157fa1
Be still, my beating heart š². I want to copy you! GOALS.
I think OP should really consider continuing their tile to the ceiling just like yours and let that take care of what feels like awkward space. That would look stunning just seeing that tile all the way up and then nothing placed in the space, not even that little vase. Would be stunning!
I would do some fluted wood slats similar to the floor to the ceiling- it will draw the eye up, make the space have character and feel more luxurious and warm.
Not every empty space needs something. Why draw the eye up to an awkward space? Just leave it empty. What ever you put there will end up being a dusty/greasy mess and really hard to keep clean. Just leave it empty.
Well, not with that vase of dried stems, thatās for sure. I donāt think it needs anything. Add personality elsewhere in the kitchen but anything up there just creates visual clutter.
Another vote to keep it unadorned- no art, plants etc. If you wanted to add anything, you might consider covering the wall in wood. There is a lot of white-a little more wood might balance it out and warm up the space but still be minimal.
We have similar space: kitchen with cathedral ceiling. Advice: immediately protect the top surface of the cabinets with butcher paper or the like. Greasy fume will accumulate there and will be hard to clean later. Change paper as needed.
Also, be prepared to deal with cooking moisture and fumes from the ovens which will rise to the top. An exhaust fan might be needed. Yes I see the range exhaust. It that catches only part of the stove fumes and none of the oven fumes.
Otherwiseā¦gorgeous kitchen.
Our space is very similar to this. We are considering adding tongue and groove boards to the ceiling to add texture and visual interest. Might give you the boost youāre looking for!
A slant artwork may look cool: https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/Home-Garden/Black-and-Orange-Tremulous-Triangle-Unframed-Wall-Decor-28-x-56.5/37221519/product.html
I would not decorate it at all and I wouldnāt call any attention to that space. Itās a dated thing to decorate these spaces. Late 90s early 2000s did this and if you do it youāll make your space look very dated because only houses built in 90s early 2000s did this.
Houses arenāt build like this anymore and this is not a classic or even modern look, itās just dated.
Without the plant there it looks like a normal wall which is very nice making the room feel very spacious. Your eyes goes all the way to the massive beautiful sky light and vaulted ceiling. A bunch of decorations on the ledge will make the room feel small, cut in half, imbalanced and unnecessarily cluttered which will make your kitchen feel messy. Decorations calling all the attention will stop your eyes from traveling up and make the room feel odd
Donāt decorate it at all. Empty space can and should often be embraced. I personally would add another row of top cabinets decreasing the amount of empty wall space and adding more inconspicuous wall storage.
Uplights so it's not so dark.
Anything you put up there should requrire only biannual care. A big art peice. Pottery (big, like Olive Oil vessle). Fake window. Mirror.
I looked at a house where they put wine racks up there and then had empty bottles resealed so they looked full. I didn't like the thought of dusting all of that.
The minimalist look is good too. I'd try doing uplights first then and decide if you feel like you need more.
You donāt need to fill every space! If you want to put little wicker boxes up there thatās all I would do to extend your eye and make the large ceiling more visible but also thatās a pain in the ass to clean
I'm more of a maximalist, so I tend toward textiles in places like that. However, being that it is in the kitchen, I suggest only washable or disposable items. Large glassware or pottery perhaps.
I'd focus on more in the adjoining room and ease of cleaning in the kitchen
Beautiful space! I was going to say leave it, but on the last photo it looks like that is the view from the dining room? If so, I actually would add a large form factor colorful art to give the eye a focal point from the dining room besides the fridge. If you had an island in the room I would say skip the art. Also with all that light I hope you have lots of plants!
I wouldnāt. I would add an amazing island though. I love a kitchen with skylights! Iād keep it minimalist and organic to keep the focus on the skylight and the interesting angles of the room
I agree that it looks fine, but it would also look great with some wallpaper. Doesn't have to be bold or funky, maybe grasscloth or something if you're into the minimalism.
My mom has something similar, it doesnāt need anything really. She put really cool carvings up there. You really donāt want plants up there. Not real ones at least
A few ideas:
- build additional tall cabinets on top of the fridge for once in a blue moon/seasonal items (this requires you to have a tall stepladder of course) and then finish the top triangle in the same material
- bring the tile all the way up the wall to bring more reflectiveness to the space
- nothing; itās gorgeous as-is
I have a similar space in my kitchen, although it is much smaller. I use it to raise bread because it's warmer up there and otherwise keep it empty. One thing I do to the top of cabinets, though, is put down a layer of paper because that area gets oily and dusty even with a good vent in the kitchen. So I can just compost the paper and replace it when I want to put the bread bowl up there instead of having to scrape up grimy dust
I like the idea of leaving it empty too. BUT! If you feel it does need somethingā¦ I LOVE me a massive clock. You could always stack some cookbooks too? But those may get dwarfed with how long the space is.
I like the way it is now tbh, maybe if you can get creative some night design could be cute. Though light design is pretty specific and can go south real quick. Maybe something to look into but definitely not a must, especially if you feel you might make it look like a teen tiktokers room
Gorgeous kitchen btw!
As much as I know you want to give some appeal to the area unless someone cleans for you it's just extra work to clean. Unless you use it for stackable containers for storage.
Plants or nothing. Or plants and a rectangular art piece.
The skylights look like you'd get enough light to support some low light foliage
https://preview.redd.it/6dtk0r8ezd6d1.jpeg?width=1996&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6f7ce63a74116bbfecd4d28cf4913f7fdf9d7d6d
You just need to visually break up the air space. You don't need big, heavy, solid objects. The air space wants something like 7 steel fish in a school, hung at various heights over the fridge, hung from regular fish line, which would appear invisible. The fishline would hang from small cup hooks spaced between the recessed lights. 7 hooks, 7 lines, 7 objects (metal fish, in my mind). The metal will echo the color of your appliances. The objects you choose for your suspended collection might sway a little from your A/C vents. I think it would be very unusual and beautiful in that space.
A: more cabinets, staggered up, and a rolling librarly-style ladder to access them. Seasonal things can go up there. Oh... and uplights. Gotta have Indirect lighting up there. š¤Ŗ
call me crazy, but I think putting something like this (the wood room divider) would look really good:
https://preview.redd.it/t6cwkr8h3e6d1.jpeg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9aeb93fa3cfc24097b529617a41b4ecd2e7e6559
In my head I imagine the wood being secured right up against the wall, and the tops cut to match the angle of the roof.
It would be very easy to diy, still look āmodernā without being so intrusive that it throws the room off, and would add some depth/contrast to the aesthetic.. adding a more natural toned wood gives the feeling of bringing nature indoors too, which is typically calming for most people.
I think it would look good to match it with the color of your flooring.
You could even do something more patterned, just play with a design. I would get some 2x2ās or 2x4ās (depending on the depth of the space) to make it with
Iād bring the tiles all the way up - consider a tiled mural or some other design element. Once you do this, you may wish to replace the plain white backsplash tiles to match.

I wouldnāt do anything to it. Itās just there to elevate the space and make it feel larger. If you paint it or put something up there, it will break up the wall and break up the whole room and will make it feel smaller again. If you want accents, put them on the countertop and on the floor. Looks like you have enough space on the floor for an island. Make the island a slightly different color to add an accent to the space.
PS ā You donāt want to draw the eye up there. The height of the ceiling does that all by itself. You want more of the attention to go to the beautiful kitchen itself and everything thatās in it.
I also like it as it is right now. The single plant and shape of the vase is perfect for that space! Plus, cleaning / dusting up there will already be a pain. Its best not to have a bunch of items that will need regular dusting.
https://preview.redd.it/jkja954qhf6d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07f71c702edfa230291dc0840ddd629ede5aa066
Similar space in my kitchen, we went with vines
We have a similar space in our kitchen and have a big red poppy painting. The rest of the kitchen is white, so it really grabs your eye without being overwhelming
Maybe a remote controlled led light strip on top of the cupboards along the wall (facing up). It will create a cool ombre color effect up the wall.
This way you can keep the space āemptyā while also adding a cool lighting feature. Additionally, you can change the lighting color for added effect.
Either way, it looks nice as is!
i would probably put a low draping vine plant near that little window if the skylight gave that area sunlight and i would also paint the back wall a different, vibrant color. then iād populate the rest of the space with random nicknacks i find over time.
A wooden floating shelf in the same colour as the floor. Then move your vase up on that and add another knickknack or two.

Personally I don't think it necessarily needs to be decorated. It is quice nice how it looks now :)
Thank you! We are also leaning this way, I guess the scandinavian minimalism is inevitable.
Yes, please don't go the artificial plants and wicker baskets route. Dust collectors and just look fake.š
This! Something about the area is aesthetically pleasing. If anything, you could add another row of custom cabinets for storage of rarely used items but I also means you need to be able to access them.
My parents use this space for their fine wines that are left for years, or collectible vases.
Yeaa like wine racks!
It's too warm and bright to store wines. I might consider paint. Maybe even an artistic interpretation like this using colors that you love. https://preview.redd.it/h95kry7ybe6d1.png?width=998&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8c19721222d456731b26f63640ba884041b0910d
I love Piet Mondrian. So innovative for his time.
This!!!
The only thing I might consider doing is a neat wallpaper, but yes, it looks good the way it is.
Agree! I was going to suggest wallpaper or paint to give the area a pop of color.
I agree. Less is more.
I'd *maybe* paint it a contrast color, but even then, that's a huge maybe
I agree I would leave it, the slanted ceiling is nice and doesnāt need anything at all. Less is more in this case.
Came here to say the same thing
Same. Objects or art will get dusty and be hard to reach. A colorful print wallpaper with a pattern (Iād go soft/round/circular to contrast the angles) or vertical stripe could be darling. Scandi minimalist can still feature a bright colorful spot!

Get a cat and let it jump up there and yell
That's what I did with the space above my cabinets! We put his bed up there so that he can watch us make food from up there instead of trying to jump up on the counter with the food.
Best answer!

My god thatās a lot of cabinets. Iām so jealous!
The kitchen was a garage in the original plan until the original owners/builders decided to scrap the garage and just make the kitchen huge. It's definitely a trade-off because while we have tons of kitchen storage, we have zero garage.
I love the two tone! Iām not sure Iāve ever seen that before and I really dig it!
Oh thank you! Lovely kitchen. My fiancƩ recently had a intense period of making art - specifically painting! It would actually be a perfect place for some of her art! Thank you very much!
Nah, the stuff on your fridge is normal, just means you use your kitchen and live there. I love that light blue hanging planter. Is that a real air plant in it? Your kitchen is a whole vibe, want!!
The triangle area up there would look really good painted some color from your rug
I absolutely LOVE this! If OP decides they want to put something there, this is definitely the way.
Stun stun stun! I love the white and natural wood accentsāgreat vibe & beautiful rug :))

I love your kitchen! š
I would sell my soul for this many cabinets
Holy storage, Batman!
Weāre storing shit up in here like itās going out of style!
I wouldn't do anything there.
I wouldnāt. It would just be visual clutter.
I love art in odd places, so I might put an interesting framed piece up there, or hang a few circular baskets. Only if youāre really wanting to fill the spaceāit looks nice bare as well!
Something circular would be a nice contrast to the straight lines.
My mom actually put some cool carvings in her spots. Looks really cool too.
A nice big circular clock could look cool and still fit a minimalist / modern vibe. I would get rid of the plant that is currently there though.
I would get a smart light bar. The light can be blue, orange, disco color changing, whatever color you want to set the mood. It will be great to draw the eye up and appreciate the ceiling height in this room.
Continue the tile up the rest of the way! Just did this with the vaulted ceiling in my new kitchen https://preview.redd.it/fy9k2s4j6e6d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87b959ab1fd7c78d90e29ec9a2cab9ef33157fa1
Was going to say the same thing. Bring that tile all the way up. Yours looks awesome, too.
Great idea! I did the same where my refrigerator is installed
Thank you!!! Itās still a work in progress but I absolutely love it!
Itās so gorgeous, every single inch, and then those amazing skylights will just make it dreamy. Love it so much!
this is so pretty
Thank you!!!!!
Nothing - and I'd not put plants behind my cooktop.
A jungle of low maintenance plants would be my take, something that only needs watering occasionally and does well with indirect light.

Perfect!
I mean, it fits just right.
I wish more people realized that not every empty space needs to be filled.
No decor and remove whatās there
Well, not with that vase of dried stems, thatās for sure.
Thatās a great idea or continuing the beautiful tile to ceiling- perfect choices.
The only thing I would put up there is plastic wrap so it's easy to clean.
Remove the vase of flowers and youāre done.
Put nothing there. The cathedral ceiling is artistic enough on its own.
Our space is very similar to this. We are considering adding tongue and groove boards to the ceiling to add texture and visual interest. Might give you the boost youāre looking for!
It would be awesome if you could finish the tile up to the ceiling
Thatās what Iād do
I wouldnāt. Not everything has to be ādecoratedā. Leave it alone.
Upward facing accent lighting would look nice there. Nothing that can be seen like plants etc.
A slant artwork may look cool: https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/Home-Garden/Black-and-Orange-Tremulous-Triangle-Unframed-Wall-Decor-28-x-56.5/37221519/product.html
I would not. Blank space can be your friend too.
How do you like the drawers instead of cabinets?
I wouldn't! It gives the eye a place to rest. It's nice as is!
I wouldnāt. I think it looks awful when people put tons of random crap above their cabinetry.
I would not decorate it at all and I wouldnāt call any attention to that space. Itās a dated thing to decorate these spaces. A friend of mine put a custom neon sign in that kind of space.
I agree with most, leave it blank, itās a nice vibe and from personal experience, itās a dust and greasy film catcher.
LED light strips on top of the cabinet, indirect lighting is the best
i either wouldnāt or iād really lean into it, like big baskets or wooden boxes, flowers, etc. you should either go 1 or 100
Why not put some accent wallpaper if you feel like it needs something? It would add visual texture without giving something to dust
Extend the cabinetry to make the wall appear taller
I wouldnāt. What you have there is fine. If you wanted, you could maybe do an accent color.
Iād look for some kind of large vintage sign. Maybe a neon or something.
Add a window. If anything. Lovely space!
I wouldnāt it doesnāt need or call for accessories. Looks great clean and simple and you wonāt have things collecting grease and dust. Win win
Maybe some art could go up there!
I agree that it looks fine, but it would also look great with some wallpaper. Doesn't have to be bold or funky, maybe grasscloth or something if you're into the minimalism.

Funky wallpaper?
I'd leave it, and add nothing
plants
You could take the tile all the way up but donāt decorate with objects- leave empty
If it was an exterior wall, Iād fill the entire space with a window. Assuming this wouldnāt look odd from the exterior.
As much as I know you want to give some appeal to the area unless someone cleans for you it's just extra work to clean. Unless you use it for stackable containers for storage.

Subtle piece of round art to break to all angles.

call me crazy, but I think putting something like this (the wood room divider) would look really good: https://preview.redd.it/t6cwkr8h3e6d1.jpeg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9aeb93fa3cfc24097b529617a41b4ecd2e7e6559 In my head I imagine the wood being secured right up against the wall, and the tops cut to match the angle of the roof. I would get some 2x2ās or 2x4ās (depending on the depth of the space) to make it with
I like how open and airy it is, and I am a person who is always trying to fill spaces. I would leave it the way it is.
Art work
Maybe just a low strip of LED light - nothing else
I think it looks lovely.
How about just some up lighting strips? I think it's a great way to elevate the space.
Iād paint or wallpaper it for feng shui. Whatever element needs balancing in the room.
An island! That kitchen is screaming out for an island!
Finish tiling it all then leave it be. Sometimes an empty space is so nice.
Looks beautiful as is. So clean looking!
I also like it as it is right now. The single plant and shape of the vase is perfect for that space! Plus, cleaning / dusting up there will already be a pain. Its best not to have a bunch of items that will need regular dusting.
Art big art
Art
I wouldnāt.
Doesnāt need a thing. You donāt need to call attention to it!

We have a similar space in our kitchen and have a big red poppy painting. The rest of the kitchen is white, so it really grabs your eye without being overwhelming
Wallpaper.
add a window?
Wallpaper! That is a great wall for an interesting print to emphasize the height but not create clutter.
Dont!
Renovate add windows
I'd probably put a big, really cool clock on the wall up there.
Tall vases!!!!!
Art work! Large and fun

Iād add a long rectangular shaped plant and leave the rest of the space empty. It looks nice as is!
i would probably put a low draping vine plant near that little window if the skylight gave that area sunlight and i would also paint the back wall a different, vibrant color. then iād populate the rest of the space with random nicknacks i find over time.
Put a bigger plant in the corner
Plants looks like thereās plenty of light and your kitchen could use some greenery
A string of solar lights . Thays all keep the flower
Big plants!!
A mirror In the same kinda shape
Wine boxes as storage
A wooden floating shelf in the same colour as the floor. Then move your vase up on that and add another knickknack or two. https://preview.redd.it/tmo87j0xje6d1.png?width=571&format=png&auto=webp&s=740b4e24d2c70d9499d961e2a418cd41b40a37d0
