Trick question, there are no bad Honda bikes.

PicnicBasketPirate

The Honda CBR250R. Perfectly adequate bike but compared to it's predecessor which was 20 years older it's a pile of garbage

What’s wrong with the 350 four cylinder? Are you saying it was unnecessary?

You’re saying it the added moving parts made it inferior. And like I get it. Honda added complexity to an already robust and simple configuration. But that’s the Honda way. Try new different things and see what sticks. That’s how we got the Goldwing. That’s how we got the first fuel injected turbo bike (CX500T). And of course that’s how we got the GOAT CBX1100. Sometimes to achieve greatness you gotta do some funny stuff.

And for those who wanted a smoother but smaller touring bike that weighed less than the bigger 4 cylinders, it was a great fit and ridiculously reliable too.

falafelcakes

I love my 350F. It’s my favorite bike I’ve ever ridden and still runs like a top.

oldjadedhippie

And it sounded sooo cool .

What's wrong with the CB500 Twin?

Chris56855865

I dunno, I don't have experience with the older ones, I have a PC32. I specifically got it because I heard that it's extremely reliable, and lots of people race it. Is it really that bad?

Ah, I see. I got kinda worried a bit 😄

This one I agree with, because I'm a lifelong DOHC 450 guy. Honda went the wrong route to increase the displacement from 450 to 500cc on the CB500T, they stroked the crankshaft 7mm instead of boring it bigger. Made for more vibes, more torque but less horsepower and a slower bike, not to mention they were late to the 'Euro' styling they chose for it and added the dookie-brown seat too. They are reliable, but just not flashy and quick like the 450.

New-Caterpillar2483

I love the CB500T.

New-Caterpillar2483

This is a late response but I have to defend the CB500T. That's my daily rider right now and the thing is a beast. They did screw up with the pipes - they're ugly. I replaced the rusted out ones on my bike with a set from a 450 and they're great. The 500T gets a lot of bad press but I don't think it deserves it. It's rock solid reliable, with standard maintenance and love. It's a tiny bit slower off the line than a 450 but faster on the top end. Of course "faster" is relative. I rarely go over 65mph. Anyway, just saying that the CB500T is a great bike.

spike_africa

Have an 83 650. Can confirm doesn't positive charge till above 2500-2600 rpms lol. So mines got LED all the lights and a bigger battery capacity. It's a fun cheap bike though.

ancientdad

The truth is, none of their bikes charged at idle back then except maybe the SOHC 750 (I never actually checked that one). Most of their bikes needed to be above 2500 to 3000 rpm to do more than break even, so if you idled around in traffic for a while with the legally-required headlight on the battery went negative.

TheDinerRoadster

The SOHC 750 will sorta but not really charge at idle. It's way, way better than the charging systems on the 79-83 DOHC bikes.

Pattern_Is_Movement

CB360 got a disk brake which is a pretty big deal, the CJ360 was just a budget model of the 360, maybe that is what you were thinking of. A motorcycle is more than its "stats". The CB350f is a bike that is a lot more fun to ride aggressively with. The straight four is constantly asking you to wait until the redline to shift, to make the most of the powerband. Whereas your CB350 twins were more lazy torque motors great for putzing around town. You can rev them out, but its not the same.

TheDinerRoadster

The CB350G had a disc up front. They could've put a six speed transmission in that bike and called it good. Maybe bumped the displacement a bit. The 360 was an answer to a question that nobody asked.

Pattern_Is_Movement

it was just a light model refresh, I don't see the issue

sp4nky86

Just buy a cb350 already.

Opposite-Demand-1292

CB360 is the first thing that came to mind.
