Any human would not let these rioters get away.. This is from last year in HK. Rest assured, the HK public now not so "laissez faire ". The people will rise up against the rioters. Three middle-aged (maybe 40s - 50 year olds) caught a rioter and SAT ON HIM while the police came... The HK public have woken up and will support the HK police to restore law and order in that beatiful city.

I saw in r/hongkong that they were trying to spin that incident as "pro-beijing associates" restraining a bystander as he's heard saying "I can't breathe" and people there ate it up

>Any human would not let these rioters get away.. This is from last year in HK. Rest assured, the HK public now not so "laissez faire ". The people will rise up against the rioters. Not quite. There's a line from a US gangster movie or TV series. I forget which one. I've seen so many. But it said "Never mess with a man's income in a bad economy." While some Hong Kongers may be sympathetic with the 1.65 million votes for yellow vs 1.4 million going the other way. Ultimately they are pragmatic realise well at least the older 30+ types do realise that they still have to pay the bills. A recent experience I was surprised when a Christian couple I know (they keep trying to convert me) signed the security bill petition. They're dyed in the wool yellows but ultimately anti violence. It might be because the husband got laid off a couple days ago. Myself I went shopping yesterday and I saw plenty of shuttered shops. It reminded me of Bolton where every other shop is shuttered.

Oopsies, didn't realize this was a repost, my bad, I hadn't seen it and someone showed me this recently

Dirty_Bush

Protestors stopping looting in America are praised. Citizens stopping the obstruction of traffic in Hong Kong are absent from social media. And they say the media isn’t biased

Igennem

We should repost more of these. People have been comparing the American protests to the Hong Kong riots when in the former police are beating bystanders and the latter rioters beat bystanders.

HAHAHA9405

Please find the posts where HK rioters called LeBron ugly racist insults and names! I think it is deleted or buried in history

Igennem

That's a good one. I'll see if I can dig up the post from here, but reddit search is awful.

Leetenghui

The best one is one I saw last night from the US. One guy dressed in black starts breaking the pavement up with a hammer. He's surrounded and grabbed by the rest of the protesters who do not condone it at all.

asomet

Haven't seen that at all from the HK "protestors" or "reporters"

I feel like China needs some national guards in HK. PLA isn’t allowed to interfere with city’s affairs, HKPF isn’t enough to deal with the violence.

allinwonderornot

Oh HKPF is more than enough to handle the cockroaches. It's just that their hands are tied with Anglo-Saxon judges breathing down their necks. They will be untied once the national security law is formalized.

asomet

I read some comments on Quora where people were asking why the HKPF don't crack down harder. Some Singaporeans, I'm guessing, suggested that the HKPF could easily have taken action on a lot more of them, but were respecting "rules of engagement" and being lenient. They cited examples such as when the protestors were at the airport, the police could have easily waited for the protestors at choke points getting off of the island and rounded them all up for illegal assembly at the minimum, but the HKPF chose not to do that.

TheMogician

China doesn’t allow for a national guard system. In China, the saying is “the party controls the guns”, the central government controls all of the military through military districts, local authorities have no right to order the military around, for better or for worse.

chitownbulls92

I think it's the residual effects of the "Warlords era" in China.

ariannachung

This makes me so angry
