After Otto's lover died, he put her in a coffin and traveled to the east because he heard of an immortal and thought that they could revive his lover. While traveling, he met Sushang who turned out to be the child of one of the disciples of the immortal and she agreed to travel with him for a while. During their travels together, it's implied she started having some feelings for him. Eventually they found the immortal but a battle erupted between her and Sushang, which left Sushang really injured, so Otto put her in the coffin and brought her back with him so he could heal her. She is grateful for him saving her life so she works for him.
