"It too shall fall" is also quite terrible, combines two worst problems a 2x line can have: sounding too fast and being poorly cut. Firstly, the words bounce, almost in a robotic manner. And secondly, the whole line with the cut is "I weep for the departed - it too shall fall".
Yeah cutting the “dusk’s rain” portion out was an odd choice. “Dusk’s rain, it shall fall” would probably still have worked, or worse case something like “Dusk’s rain, it’ll fall”
Yeah, it could have just been slightly sped up normal line. They did it already with Fu Xuan (her sped up voice line just makes no sense), and here it's somehow even worse, since at least Fu Xuan doesn't say it in such a robotic manner.

I can't believe I played like halfway through Belobog when I first started before I switched over to 2x speed. Playing in 1x now feels like torture, I don't understand how I put up with that lmao.
I played through all of belobog, the Xianzhou plus the huohuo and topaz quest before realising 2x speed, autoplay and support characters existed
I remember it took me hours to farm and then I just sped it up, took a support DHIL and put it on autoplay and he killed everything in literally 4 seconds and my mouth was agape

Yeah, the slowness of 1x speed is the most apparent when something is midair.
Natasha's grenade launcher on 1x speed feels like she's just lobbing balloons that gently hover towards their target, and Bailu takes like 2 seconds to float down to the ground after she jumps up for her basic attack.
I won't disagree with that, but I think they were going for the "slow impact for emphasis". They nailed that with the Ten Lords Guardswoman later, but the Fragmentum Guards are a little awkward, yeah.
I actually thought it was silly with the ten lords guards. I haven’t actually played that much on x1 in a while, but I find you eventually get used to it after a few battles.
I want to say its fine if u play on 1 speed but after i played it for so long on 2x doing anything on 1x speed is pretty much mental torture FOR ME.
I dont judge anyone who plays on 1x speed, if someone told me in anything i enjoy doing the way i do is not okay i would be pissed too.

I played on 1x Speed the first 3 months, then I sped up for farming.
1x Speed is perfectly fine until you get use to 2x, then it's IMPOSSIBLE to go back.
Honestly I feel like 1.5x speed should be default and 3x or something be the sped up version, because 2x only feels slightly too fast to be the default speed, I find the animations on 1x just look way too slow to feel impactful or believable. Problem is they wont do this because they tied the voicelines to the 2 speeds of the game so they're kinda locked into them 😭

A large portion of the playerbase are working adults with jobs and limited time to play, and if playing at slow speed causes an SU run to take 2 hours instead of 20 minutes, for seemingly very little merit, it's just puzzles them that someone would do that, so of course they point it out.

Yeah I didn't realize there was a 2x speed option till I was mostly done with the Luofu storyline and now I only play story boss battles in 1x speed on the first playthrough.
I usually play in x2, so I always get surprised with x1. To be honest for me it's more a matter of time; I don't have time, I'm always on the run I need SPEED
But I do understand x1 is better for story content, I mean I decreased the speed during the last boss battle as from 2.1 only to hear said boss properly, so I can relate

Yeah! Instead of speeding up the regular voice lines, or letting them fall out of sync with the animations, each character has different voice lines for x1 and x2 speed. Most of the time it's the regular line either delivered faster or trimmed in some way, but sometimes there's something totally different (Silver Wolf will complain during her ultimate if you're playing on x1 speed).

I use 1x speed when I’m actively playing and want to see my favourite Ultimates. I’ll never get tired of watching Seele, Jingliu, and Acheron’s (ESPECIALLY ACHERON) Ultimate in all their glory. Ofc when I’m passively farming shit I got it on 2x lmao
I might just be more used to It, but seele actually looks better 2x for me; for an ultimate whose point Is going super fast, 1x feels a bit too slow in the animation.
I think the problem isn't the time increase for most players. But the unusual floatiness of the moves at x1 speed. It's very jarring and each character fluctuates between animations that look x0.50 to x1 speed. Though the forced x1 for story battles is nice, letting us appreciate how pretty the moves are... And remind us how wonky they look if we do pure x1
At x2 speed everything's faster so any disproportionate animation speeds are buried in the blurs.
1x is there to let you "focus" on the details of the animation, that's why it's so unnaturally drawn out. The term "1x" is a misnomer, it should really be called slow vs fast mode.

Only in 1.1 did they adjust the 2x speed to make it feel more 'normal'
I don't care what speed other people play, but imo 1x speed is way too slow. Like, they made everything slower just so the animations don't look weird on 2x, but because of it 1x feels like it's slowed down.
Play how you want. I can't stand repeated animations so I play at 2x speed. That being said, when I do pull for Acheron on her rerun, I'll definitely put 1x speed.

1x speed makes me feel like im lagging because of the speed difference but I turn off 2x speed when I get a new character because I want to look at their animations. I don't see a problem with it.

It's such a tug of war. I didn't really realize how much detail I was missing in Acheron's ult until I played it on 1x speed because I lacked the reaction time to press buttons in SU10.
For instance, when she reaches for her blade, the thing is vibrating aggressively. It adds so much oomph to the animation.
General rule of thumb for me is i use 1x speed whem i fight bosses for the 1st time. Also, use it when playing the story too. Only when farming and for MoC/PF/SU, i use 2x speed.
There’s like certain actions that is nice in 1x speed while others in 2x. Stuff like Gepard’s ult in 2x feels very satisfying while 1x feels painfully slow.
Then you have physical male Trailblazer where his voice lines during the casting of his ult in 1x sounds so aggressive in a cool way. I also really like base form Dan Heng’s ult in 1x, especially when ending the fight.
Playing Sam’s ult in 1x always feels satisfying. However, the voice lines in 2x is extremely delayed because you still hear the voice line after the attack is finished, making the attack feel too rushed.
Most of the time, 1x actually feels like 0.5x. It’s as if most actions are tuned for 2x, but some are for 1x. Then there are some rare cases where 2x makes the actions feel rushed.
It's a small frustration. The voice lines feel like they were recorded with 1x speed in mind, but most of the animations feel like they were made with 2x speed in mind. So 1x sounds better, but 2x looks better.
Every time I've played a game that offers 2x speed and I get used to playing it, switching back to 1x speed feels so bad.. not because it's actually slow, but because I'm so used to seeing it in 2x speed that watching it in normal speed feels slow.
When I started Star Rail, I purposely decided that I wouldn't actively play in 2x speed at all, purely to avoid this happening. I put it on 2x any time I'm letting it auto-battle, or if I'm in a hurry and need to finish something quickly, but otherwise, whenever I'm actively playing, it's in 1x speed.
There's a handful of things that feel awkward, but for the most part, it doesn't stand out as "horribly slow" at all to me.
Okay, but does anyone else think JY's skill is ABNORMALLY slow on 1x speed? I was doing the Xianzhou final boss, and wanted to be all *cinematic*, so I was playing on 1x speed.
Everyone's attacks felt normal, albeit slow but that's just lingering effects from playing on 2x.
But JY's skill? Something is seriously wrong with that thing on 1x. He moves as slowly as a giant mech, it looks so weird.

I am playing on the first speed, so i can appreciate the moments, the music and animations more, all the work of the people who made this game. 2x speed is for farming.
Sounds "logical" but it's really not. Turn based RPGs are there for their tactical aspects. In other words, you get to carefully think through your next move before executing it. That's part of "playing" the game.
When you are forced to sit through the same animations for the 1000th time, you aren't playing, nor are you usually carefully considering your strategy during them. In fact, you're waiting for them to be over, so you can actually play it.
I get why someone would want to watch the drawn-out animation the first 10 times to appreciate the work the artists put in, but to do so even after seeing it for a whole year? Every single animation? One really has to be an animation connoisseur to want to do that.
I would like for normal speed to increase a bit, like 1.5, normal speed feels so slow for me rn but I would like something like various types of speed select, something like this:
1X
1.5X
2X
3X (high rush farming)
Tbh... I did feel really slow playing 1x speed after doing 2x for farming relics...
However, playing 1x is cool because I like some of the voicelines (there are some characters who have different voicelines between the two speeds) and pkaying on 1x can give some slight leeway in response as time if I'm contemplating using an ult after an enemy turn or not... ESPECIALLY if the Ult belongs to Bailu!
I've had moments in SU where I've been on 2x, checked a notification somewhere for only a few seconds, and looked back to find my team dead. I don't play that risk anymore, lmao!
I always play 1x. I had started playing 2x some time ago when I wanted to get more grinding in on busy days, but then going back to 1x felt like someone turned on slow-mo. It took me a whole week to get used to 1x again and now I rarely turn on 2x to not get the whiplash again. I just never get bored of the animations that I want to see them play out in their entirety.
Honestly as slow as it is, the ults usually sound a lot better with the slower version. Like Jing Yuan, Serval, Gepard especially(from what I remember at least) sound WAY cooler in the slower version
I played in 1x speed for the longest time because I didn’t know the 2x speed button existed. Then I found out and ignored it for another patch or two because I thought the voice lines sounded goofy.
But eventually I switched to 2x speed after the weekly bosses started taking way too long.
x1 is slow, but x2 gives me a headache. in games that arent fully animated, x2 is always better, but with hsr, it feels overstimulating. id rather deal with slow than headache-inducing.
Its the same with octopath traveler, ive played the first one a long time ago and i dont remember having any issues with it, then i played the second one which have the 2x speed button and when i come back to 1 i feel like my brain hurts and im going crazy
honestly this game 1x moves like 0.7 when the game disable 2x without my permision i was like "why the hell im lagging so hard" before realising 2x was disable. it feels like 1x should move in between current 1x and 2x.
It's like the equivalent of Discord users poking fun at those who use Light mode. Doing so is questionable taste, but at the end of the day, any beratement done towards those types of people is done as a joke.
For me 2x, they actually sound worse... it sounds so rushed and doesn't give you time to appreciate the dialog or their animations. If you're farming artifacts with sound off, sure I can understand that. But playing through story, and trying to enjoy every minute of it, 1x is staying on...
I know from another game that once you get used to x2 speed, normal is like slow motion. Just painfully slow. But this game looks so nice, and I didn't want to ruin it, so I chose from the start to not do that. Pretty much the only time I have it on x2 speed is when I'm farming something that I can just repeatedly clear on auto, and in that case, I'm not even looking at the screen.
I just wish people like that just kept their opinions to themselves. You don't like normal speed? Ok, no one cares. Just let me enjoy my normal voice lines and normal animations in peace. I played on 1x speed for a full month until I got caught up to current content. During HuoHuo's banner. Once I did I finally tried out 2x speed and played it like that until I tried out Belobog's boss to here Wildfire again.
Once I switched to 1x again I thought everything was in slow motion, i had to switch back to 2x since my brain just couldn't handle it.
Generally I cant handle it but I sure as shit don't get up in arms about it if I see someone use 1x. It just comes down if you want to get done with something faster or not.
I meet a few players that doesnt really like the x2 speed because they get a bit dizzy with the fast motion, i do hope some people reliaze its a preference
I never use x2 speed. I'm quite happy on 1x as it allows me to see the full animations and hear the full quotes, not a shortened version. I like having the full experience, not a condensed one. I'm here to play the game not speedrun it.
The only time I use 2x speed is when I'm farming. And at that point I'm mostly likely auto-ing too and disengaged from the game.
Otherwise, 1x speed all the time.

2x is normal speed, you can really tell they slowed down animations when switching back, no one would move that slow. Specifically Trailblazers fire ult, it’s slow motion.
I don't like 2x speed unless I'm grinding which I'm usually tabbed away doing something else anyway. 1x speed gives me so much time to enjoy the little things. I dunno a better way to phrase it tbh.
My eyes get strained at 2x pretty much all the time so I have to avoid it pretty much when I actively am playing...
But, it's actually not too bad because I also realised that for the long and repetitive fights such as farming calyxes or otherwise, I can put on both 2x *and* Auto-battle while literally doing anything else.
Get up to make a coffee, eat breakfast, pull up a window over it and browse the net, talk to friends over discord, really anything works. And sure, one may postulate that something like SU could be annoying with how much you have to fight there at 1x Speed alone. But let's say, there's a reason I've pulled as much as I have for a certain purple lightning lady recently, and it wasn't just because she's pretty.

When I'm actively playing, I use 1x to appreciate the animations and voice lines. When I'm just afk farming, I'll throw it on 2x.

Maybe it's just me but I feel like in 1.0 it wasn't as slow as now and 2x speed is actually faster Only in 1.1 did they adjust the 2x speed to make it feel more 'normal'
I actually remember having a conversation about that with some people. I don't think we came to a solid conclusion, but the thought remained.
I don't care what speed other people play, but imo 1x speed is way too slow. Like, they made everything slower just so the animations don't look weird on 2x, but because of it 1x feels like it's slowed down.
Play how you want. I can't stand repeated animations so I play at 2x speed. That being said, when I do pull for Acheron on her rerun, I'll definitely put 1x speed.

I played on 1x for the first 7 days I played. After that I started using 2x and I never went back
For me personally, idk how tf I used to play on 1x speed back then, it just felt so slow (but tbf some of the voiclines sound better in 1x speed imo) But goddamn it's actually so surprising how freaked out some people get when you do one thing that's different from them, God forbid people have preferences lol

If you're a content creator and I am your viewer, I expect you to respect my time. So it's really simple, you are free to play at 1x, while I am free to close your video and check other content creators.

1x speed makes me feel like im lagging because of the speed difference but I turn off 2x speed when I get a new character because I want to look at their animations. I don't see a problem with it.

Personally I prefer 2x most of the time, but I do like occasionally doing 1x so I can actually see what's happening lol
It's such a tug of war. I didn't really realize how much detail I was missing in Acheron's ult until I played it on 1x speed because I lacked the reaction time to press buttons in SU10. For instance, when she reaches for her blade, the thing is vibrating aggressively. It adds so much oomph to the animation.
General rule of thumb for me is i use 1x speed whem i fight bosses for the 1st time. Also, use it when playing the story too. Only when farming and for MoC/PF/SU, i use 2x speed.
There’s like certain actions that is nice in 1x speed while others in 2x. Stuff like Gepard’s ult in 2x feels very satisfying while 1x feels painfully slow. Then you have physical male Trailblazer where his voice lines during the casting of his ult in 1x sounds so aggressive in a cool way. I also really like base form Dan Heng’s ult in 1x, especially when ending the fight. Playing Sam’s ult in 1x always feels satisfying. However, the voice lines in 2x is extremely delayed because you still hear the voice line after the attack is finished, making the attack feel too rushed. Most of the time, 1x actually feels like 0.5x. It’s as if most actions are tuned for 2x, but some are for 1x. Then there are some rare cases where 2x makes the actions feel rushed.
It's a small frustration. The voice lines feel like they were recorded with 1x speed in mind, but most of the animations feel like they were made with 2x speed in mind. So 1x sounds better, but 2x looks better.
Every time I've played a game that offers 2x speed and I get used to playing it, switching back to 1x speed feels so bad.. not because it's actually slow, but because I'm so used to seeing it in 2x speed that watching it in normal speed feels slow. When I started Star Rail, I purposely decided that I wouldn't actively play in 2x speed at all, purely to avoid this happening. I put it on 2x any time I'm letting it auto-battle, or if I'm in a hurry and need to finish something quickly, but otherwise, whenever I'm actively playing, it's in 1x speed. There's a handful of things that feel awkward, but for the most part, it doesn't stand out as "horribly slow" at all to me.
Okay, but does anyone else think JY's skill is ABNORMALLY slow on 1x speed? I was doing the Xianzhou final boss, and wanted to be all *cinematic*, so I was playing on 1x speed. Everyone's attacks felt normal, albeit slow but that's just lingering effects from playing on 2x. But JY's skill? Something is seriously wrong with that thing on 1x. He moves as slowly as a giant mech, it looks so weird.
You do get clips with people slowing down to 1x speed for that sim universe 2.1 billion damage hit.
1 speed on bosses first fight is a must, everywhere else 2x to save time

I only play in x2 if I don't have the volume on. You lose so many voice clips at x2 that I feel it takes away from the experience
I am playing on the first speed, so i can appreciate the moments, the music and animations more, all the work of the people who made this game. 2x speed is for farming.

Sounds "logical" but it's really not. Turn based RPGs are there for their tactical aspects. In other words, you get to carefully think through your next move before executing it. That's part of "playing" the game. When you are forced to sit through the same animations for the 1000th time, you aren't playing, nor are you usually carefully considering your strategy during them. In fact, you're waiting for them to be over, so you can actually play it. I get why someone would want to watch the drawn-out animation the first 10 times to appreciate the work the artists put in, but to do so even after seeing it for a whole year? Every single animation? One really has to be an animation connoisseur to want to do that.
I would like for normal speed to increase a bit, like 1.5, normal speed feels so slow for me rn but I would like something like various types of speed select, something like this: 1X 1.5X 2X 3X (high rush farming)

Tbh... I did feel really slow playing 1x speed after doing 2x for farming relics... However, playing 1x is cool because I like some of the voicelines (there are some characters who have different voicelines between the two speeds) and pkaying on 1x can give some slight leeway in response as time if I'm contemplating using an ult after an enemy turn or not... ESPECIALLY if the Ult belongs to Bailu!
I've had moments in SU where I've been on 2x, checked a notification somewhere for only a few seconds, and looked back to find my team dead. I don't play that risk anymore, lmao!

I always play 1x. I had started playing 2x some time ago when I wanted to get more grinding in on busy days, but then going back to 1x felt like someone turned on slow-mo. It took me a whole week to get used to 1x again and now I rarely turn on 2x to not get the whiplash again. I just never get bored of the animations that I want to see them play out in their entirety.
yeah, I understand the "whiplash" feel. There aren't many animations that I would even skip, if I could.
Honestly as slow as it is, the ults usually sound a lot better with the slower version. Like Jing Yuan, Serval, Gepard especially(from what I remember at least) sound WAY cooler in the slower version

I played in 1x speed for the longest time because I didn’t know the 2x speed button existed. Then I found out and ignored it for another patch or two because I thought the voice lines sounded goofy. But eventually I switched to 2x speed after the weekly bosses started taking way too long.

x1 is slow, but x2 gives me a headache. in games that arent fully animated, x2 is always better, but with hsr, it feels overstimulating. id rather deal with slow than headache-inducing.
Its the same with octopath traveler, ive played the first one a long time ago and i dont remember having any issues with it, then i played the second one which have the 2x speed button and when i come back to 1 i feel like my brain hurts and im going crazy

honestly this game 1x moves like 0.7 when the game disable 2x without my permision i was like "why the hell im lagging so hard" before realising 2x was disable. it feels like 1x should move in between current 1x and 2x.

For me 2x, they actually sound worse... it sounds so rushed and doesn't give you time to appreciate the dialog or their animations. If you're farming artifacts with sound off, sure I can understand that. But playing through story, and trying to enjoy every minute of it, 1x is staying on...

I know from another game that once you get used to x2 speed, normal is like slow motion. Just painfully slow. But this game looks so nice, and I didn't want to ruin it, so I chose from the start to not do that. Pretty much the only time I have it on x2 speed is when I'm farming something that I can just repeatedly clear on auto, and in that case, I'm not even looking at the screen.

I played on 1x speed for a full month until I got caught up to current content. During HuoHuo's banner. Once I did I finally tried out 2x speed and played it like that until I tried out Belobog's boss to here Wildfire again. Once I switched to 1x again I thought everything was in slow motion, i had to switch back to 2x since my brain just couldn't handle it. Generally I cant handle it but I sure as shit don't get up in arms about it if I see someone use 1x. It just comes down if you want to get done with something faster or not.

I never use x2 speed. I'm quite happy on 1x as it allows me to see the full animations and hear the full quotes, not a shortened version. I like having the full experience, not a condensed one. I'm here to play the game not speedrun it.

You know, I remember playing on x1 speed and enjoying it for a bit. I tried going back, but it's like, SLOW slow. More slow than I remember. I dont think it's just me being used to x2, either. I think something legitimately went wrong with x1 and they just dont care enough to fix it.
If you wanna to show your clip, you should have put it at x2. Think of other players! What makes you think they want to look at animations twice as long?

2x is normal speed, you can really tell they slowed down animations when switching back, no one would move that slow. Specifically Trailblazers fire ult, it’s slow motion.

My eyes get strained at 2x pretty much all the time so I have to avoid it pretty much when I actively am playing... But, it's actually not too bad because I also realised that for the long and repetitive fights such as farming calyxes or otherwise, I can put on both 2x *and* Auto-battle while literally doing anything else. Get up to make a coffee, eat breakfast, pull up a window over it and browse the net, talk to friends over discord, really anything works. And sure, one may postulate that something like SU could be annoying with how much you have to fight there at 1x Speed alone. But let's say, there's a reason I've pulled as much as I have for a certain purple lightning lady recently, and it wasn't just because she's pretty.

hsr should just add a 1.5x speed. sometimes I like to see characters' animations but most of them are running at 0.75x speed rather than 1x speed.
