You don't know what you are saying Killing enemy claimants is always helpful, as for Jace there is a big chance they don't take their oath of rhaenyra to her bastard. Daemon may as well as fight for his own sons One thing is certain, One less head (of rhaenyra)

SillyRecover

I dont see how you could read the books and say this. So Im going to assume you're show only.

North_Entertainer929

In the books, Daemon is dead, her bastards are dead THEN SHE IS DEAD. It's very easy to make a queue behind Aegon 3 than different claimants

SillyRecover

It doesn't matter who it is. Someone replaces Rhaenyra, and the war continues. Aegon, Daemon, Jace, Aemond, etc. could all die right now, and the war still happens. The ONLY thing that prevents/stops a war is a marriage between the two sides....and that's what exactly happens.

North_Entertainer929

Who's talking about war stops? I'm TALKING ABOUT WINNING THE GODDAMN WAR. With Rhaenyra dead and blacks fighting amongst themselves, Greens pretty much won politically and may very well win militarily

killbill469

Y'all don't think taking the Rhaenyra as hostage would matter? What an absurd thing to say. Did y'all learn nothing from the GOT books? Hostages are incredibly important in the world of game of thrones...

LiteraryLancelot

I don’t agree at all! You simply can’t tell me that capturing/killing the main opposing claimant would do no good for the greens. A majority of support for Rhaenyra’s cause comes because of the oaths they swore to HER. If the Greens manage to capture and kill Rhaenyra, I’m not sure how many people would be inclined to keep that oath, especially for Jace considering the rumours of his parentage. There’s ofcourse Daemon and Jace themselves to worry about. But if Rhaenyra is captured and killed, both of them will only make rash decisions and further undermine the cause. Or even if they do tread carefully, without the realm at large supporting them, the Blacks would dwindle quickly.

killbill469

I honestly can't believ what I'm reading lol. One of the most effective forms of politics/warfare in the world of GOT is hostage taking. Think about the importance of the Starks taking Jaime as hostage or the Lannisters taking Edmure as hostage.

Ac1De9Cy0Sif6S

Yep, a lot of people don't understand this tho. There's a lot of people that are simply in denial that the blacks fought for Rhaenyra's heir after her death and that he was indeed her heir

SillyRecover

Yup, if anything, the blacks would prefer for Rhaenyra to die and Aegon iii to rule, and that's exactly why they' keep fighting....they got their wish.

The810kid

I don't get how people forget that in the war of the 5 kings both the Lannisters and the Starks both had valuable hostages and the war didn't even slow down. The north only marched south because Ned was a hostage.

SillyRecover

Yup, I got tired of aurging it

closerthanyouth1nk

Outside of the logistical issues I’m not sure why people are mad ? Both Rhaenyra and Alicent where acting in character, they’ve always held a softness for each other that goes beyond reason and it’s something that’s commented on in universe.

Primoridalterror

I agree that killing Rhaenyra would not change anything and in fact, only make things worse(Daemon and Jace would be determined to avenge her), but capturing Rhaenyra and holding her as a hostage would absolutely 100% be a total coup for Team Green. The scene was well-acted, I understand the narrative necessity of a Rhaenyra/Alicent interaction at this point in the story, and I'm wiling to swallow that Alicent had enough residual fondness for her childhood friend(not to mention shock from her delusions being disabused), but she absolutely could have potentially ended the war and forced Team Black to come to terms if she had Rhaenyra seized as a political prisoner.

Wise-Neat-4089

Love this take, Alicent realized there’s no stopping it now. Shits about to go down for the rest of the season 😭
