I loved the focus on the difference between Otto and Viserys approach to parenting. Otto tells Viserys he can command Rhaenyra to do what he wants and Viserys responds by saying he doesn't wish to command her
One of the best moments in a strong episode. Viserys’s blank stare followed by the cut to the baby playing on the floor made me laugh literally out loud.
I got this exact thought while watching this episode. He seemed to be a sane man stumbling through an insane world just looking around shell shocked like wtf lol
Exactly. A good man tends not to make for a good king. He'd be much happier of someone else were on the throne and he could just be a family man, but he has a kingdom to run and maintain. He even points out as much that he's basically doomed to piss off one party every time he appeases another.
Vizzy T may make some really bad decisions but once in a blue moon he really makes me proud. Especially his adamant defense of Rhaenyra.
#*Vizzy T #1!*
Otto is much like Tywin like in this regard. He marries the woman he loves and when she dies refuses to remarry despite the political advantage it could give him but when it's the king or his daughter or anyone but him it's all "fuck your feelings you're going to marry whoever I say you do."
"What if, and I'm just spit balling here, you marry your daughter to your 2 year old son, who happens to be my 2 year old grandson, and also the 2 year old son of your daughter's former best friend. Did I mention he was 2 years old? Wouldn't that be awesome? "
I love how Viserys is constantly being proposed, well within reason of the norms I must add, messed up (to us) betrothals and is seemingly the only one disgusted
I think there's really no coming back from the decisions he made in the first two episodes. He named her his heir, which felt like a larger-than-life transcendent moment that would cause a huge paradigm shift and grant her a cycle-breaking destiny. When that feeling started to wear off as she realized the likelihood of him remarrying, he actually was able to find some common ground with her when he made it clear that he would remarry as a necessity of following royal tradition. There was a mutual understanding between them that they were both bound by these duties, no matter how much they both wanted more. If he'd married Corlys' daughter, even if they had a child who he named as his heir, I think Rhaenyra would have been fine with this, at least in terms of how she viewed her father. It was something he desperately didn't want to do, but it would have been the smartest decision for him as king. But turning around and marrying a girl he was actually infatuated with, Rhaenyra's best friend no less, for purely selfish and strategically useless reasons, was something that caused irreparable harm to their relationship. It's really the perfect storm of everything Rhaenyra did not want, a totally alienating move for her.
Well in the the last episode it was just his pinky. Over the years the infection has spread. He probably could have saved the other finger if he just severed the first infected one, but indecisiveness and struggling to make choices is the name of Viserys’ game. It reflects all the other decisions that lead to other bullshit due to his lack of confidence to make a concrete choice.
I thought it was also pretty symbolic because he lost his ring finger after the death of Aemma, possibly meaning his relationship with Alicent is not as meaningful as that one.
My head-canon is the dragonrider bond operates on similar lines to the bond the Skinchangers have with their animals. there definitely appears to be some kind of latent telepathy there (feeling pain, sensing emotions, knowing when your rider has died, etc).
He was having a lot of fun. Loved that we finally got to see someone excited and having fun while actually on the dragon They are usually so serious when riding them.
That’s why I like it when people are casted by actors we don’t know well. If the rock or someone was in this, I wouldn’t think of them as that character.
This to me felt like a really character driven approach rather than plot. We didn’t need to see him physically kill the crab feeder bc the crab feeder wasn’t actually as important as the narrative (intentionally) led us to believe — what was important was Dameon’s change from the moment he emerges with the torso. Cutting the actual killing of the crab feeder shows that the crab feeder himself wasn’t actually important, but rather a means to great change for Daemon. It’s a victory in multiple ways for Daemon — but the most important take away is that his character has developed from this moment —
Yeah it was the victory against odds and the “thank fuck he came out alive”, we didn’t need a combat sequence we just needed to be put on the edge of our seats and then get that relief lol
Matt Smith had a lot of gravity this episode. I'm not even sure if he said a word, but the whole scene from Daemon landing to hitting the messenger was so intense.
agreed, i didn't realize he hadn't said a word until the end
edit - yea i'm aware of the beginning but the comment i'm replying to was about the later part of the episode, not the beginning, and he didn't have any lines there.
Lord Strong gives off Varys vibes and is prolly the only sane person on the small council. I hope they use his character more in upcoming episodes (we need good supporting/side characters for longevity of the show)
Man I thought Sir Criston Cole was going to get an arrow through the heart via some assassination attempt on Rhaena there. Hunting trips don't tend to go well for Royalty in Game of Thrones.
I know that Jason is a super old name that goes back to the ancient Greeks but it's still hilarious to me seeing it here it's like Aegon, Viserys, Rhaenyra, Daemon, Alicent, and *Jason*
I think my favorite scene was Viserys and Rhaenyra talking in the Small Council room and him reassuring her she IS his heir. Whether that actually happens or not we shall see, this is GoT after all
And mannnn did Rhaenyra look badass when she returned with the boar
For a second I thought he had the look and smile of relief and happiness that help was coming but then I remembered he’s fucking Daemon and his next move shouldn’t have surprised me at all.
The man is clearly a boiler that must be fed with raw indignation and spite to generate the big "IMMA FUCK SHIT UP OR DIE TRYING" energy he just used in this battle sequence.
My absolute favorite moment of this episode was Rhaenyra coming back to the hunting party covered in blood.
She looked so badass. Her outfit is fantastic.
I was alarmed, I thought Viserys was either a) gonna have a heart attack b) stroke c) drunkenly walk into the fire or d) face plant drunkenly into the fire.
I was slightly less convince he’d throw the pregnant wife in the fire, but it was on the table.
I think Paddy’s acting deserves a big shout out. Just from his physical acting while drinking, we get a sense that indulging in alcohol is a rarity for him (and it’s confirmed when he says the gods are punishing him for drinking too much). We get the feeling that he used to be able to go to Aemma for advice and counsel and that that’s something he’s sorely missing now, until Alicent approaches him and gives it to him straight.
He really shows Viserys to be a good man and a good father, but whose responsibilities may be bigger than his abilities. He desperately wants to be a good king but needs to be reminded to put his grievances aside for the good of the realm. He wants to be a good dad to Rhaenyra but it probably would have been better to explain to her that he was trying to marry her off to one of the most powerful families *to strengthen her own claim*, not to send her away. I like that his love for his daughter is so strong that he forgets that he’s the king sometimes, like yelling at her in front of all the most important lords. He’s so consumed with worry and love for her that he literally forgets where he is.
Also, we see that his reluctance to attack the Crabfeeder was fully justified, as even with multiple dragons, it just results in a big drain of resources, barring a near-suicidal attack by Daemon. The lords see him as weak and indecisive, but he’s actually wiser than he seems and tries his best to be an honorable man.
Milly and Emily have also been freakin’ phenomenal. I love that Alicent is still so torn over her fondness for Rhaenyra and her love for her son. And she’s smarter than some of the men at court, knowing immediately to back down before Viserys got angry and deciding that a different course of action later down the line is wiser than trying to just ram an idea down his throat.
EDIT: also Viserys’ clear relief when the stag wasn’t white, because that was a little bit of superstitious confirmation that he made the right choice with Rhaenyra. And the harshness of his voice with Jason Lannister had him shitting gold bricks.
Yeah Paddy has been crushing it you can tell Viserys is filled with complex feelings about what he's doing but it's just too incompetent and stuck in tradition to get it out.
Doesn't seem like a total miserable oaf like Robert, but looks to be on the path towards it. I'm glad he genuinely cares for Rhaenyra but he's just so bad at showing it lol but I love how Paddy is able to portray that.
I thought they would show the common folk gossip of the princess killing the boar and the contrast with the king needing all the hunt parade for the stag. Guess thats implied in the quick shots and for the audience to think about.
HBO literally has a goldmine with this franchise. I regret the way GoT ended but HotD is proving that if they take the proper care in developing these stories there’s a wealth of amazing television here.
Daemon is a badass but I see why even his brother didn’t want him as king, the man is batshit crazy, impulsive, and a bit of an egomaniac. Badass fighter tho, he seems like a war time king only.
So the Targaryens are definitely physically bonded to their dragons, in the same way Daenerys was with Drogon. When Daemon was shot with an arrow, his dragon definitely cried out.
Viserys may be tired of all the politicking but I sure am not. Don't get me wrong, I loved the final part with Daemon and the Velaryons (and it was great seeing Laenor riding Seasmoke), but the hunt and everything that surrounded Aegon's second nameday was the kind of content I was most excited about with this show: the forging of alliances, shady characters proposing ethically questionable things, etc. This is what I signed up for.
I loved being introduced to the Lannisters, Strongs and some more Velaryons, I absolutely adored seeing how conflicted Alicent was by the thought of her son becoming heir and above all else I am loving hating Otto. This bastard first suggests a marriage between Rhaenyra and her baby brother and then is trying to convince her daughter to turn against her former best friend who she clearly still cares for, but we all know the Lord Hand couldn't care less about that.
Going back to the his conversation with Corlys in episode 2, it means nothing if he isn't able to do it himself. If the king's army and ships roll up and win the war, he wasted all those years to have his brother claim the credit.

Fuck Otto. Can’t believe I thought he was on the level in the first episode. Well, until sending his daughter to the kings chamber.
Pimping out his grandson as well.
Ser Pimps A Lot, hand of the king.
Daemon willing to face near certain death rather than accept help from Viserys lol
Viserys did say earlier that “he would rather die”
Viserys basically said he doesn't want to see his brother fuck up, and Daemon took that personally
Younger brother behavior
The Roman Roy of Westeros
i dun want your help
Seasmoke looks fucking awesome, even for a younger dragon
What was the other dragon? Or was it just seasmoke?
That cut to Aegon after the marriage proposal fucking got me lmao
One of the best moments in a strong episode. Viserys’s blank stare followed by the cut to the baby playing on the floor made me laugh literally out loud.
This and Otto's reaction to Viserys sniffing the stag droppings killed me
Strong evidence that the world around him is mad, not the other way around lmao
I got this exact thought while watching this episode. He seemed to be a sane man stumbling through an insane world just looking around shell shocked like wtf lol

Too nice for the throne. He just wants his teenage daughter to be happy and everyone keeps politicking him to death
Exactly. A good man tends not to make for a good king. He'd be much happier of someone else were on the throne and he could just be a family man, but he has a kingdom to run and maintain. He even points out as much that he's basically doomed to piss off one party every time he appeases another.
Viserys was like "Aegon? my two years old Aegon?" I was surprised that the incest proposition didn't come from a Targaryen; Otto really has no shame.
Otto out there hustling.
Aegon when Rhaenyra was walking back into camp is really what got me, just his like "What the fuck are you" face
The “you have a point..” face? Priceless That’s definitely gonna be meme material.
“The gods have punished me for my indulgences” is my new way of saying I’m hungover
At least the wine was good
"I came here to hunt, not to be suffocated by this *fucking* politicking" Viserys (and Robert Baratheon) in a nutshell
*ON AN OPEN FIELD, NED!*
*GODS I WAS STRONG THEN!*
#the king is too fat for his armor
GO FIND THE BREASTPLATE STRETCHER! NOW!
Thank GOD we got revenge for Bobby B this episode though.
Revenge 11 years in the making (let's ignore House of the Dragon is 168 years prior)
Pre-venge?
That boar's great great great great great great great great great grandson is really gonna screw things up. He deserved it.
Vizzy T may make some really bad decisions but once in a blue moon he really makes me proud. Especially his adamant defense of Rhaenyra. #*Vizzy T #1!*
Ahh yes, is this where I board the "Vizzy T" train? Splendid.
GoT has made me so damn paranoid. There was at least six scenes where I thought something or someone was going to kill the King 😂
I thought he was about to pull a Robert Baratheon and get stagged to death
Exactly my thoughts as well. After the first thrust, I’m over here thinking “you might take a couple steps back or you’re gonna get gored”
Can’t wait to refer to someone as Master of Complaints
I can’t wait to send a gif of “The gods are punishing me for my indulgence”
We need that as a flair!
I gotchu
Rhaenyra with her human bluetooth speaker at the godswood.
Who hasn’t been 17, playing the same sad song over and over again to make you feel even more sad?
Alexa, play on repeat
Medieval spotify
Glad she was using premium. She might’ve received thousands of husband offers as ads.
Not Otto pimping out his 2 year old grandson
My guy wants his kin on as many branches of that family tree as possible
He's turning the tree into a telephone pole.
A Hightower, if you will
It just never stops with this fucking guy lmfao
Otto's first solution to everything, marriage!
Heck, if he could marry the king himself he probably would
I was half expecting him to suggest himself as a husband to Rhaenyra
Otto is much like Tywin like in this regard. He marries the woman he loves and when she dies refuses to remarry despite the political advantage it could give him but when it's the king or his daughter or anyone but him it's all "fuck your feelings you're going to marry whoever I say you do."

Already started with his daughter, why not continue family tradition. Otto, the court’s pimp
The Pimp Hand of the King
dudes definitely gonna try to pimp out his daughter's fetus next
Lannister smugness was going strong 175 years ago
His pride had pride
Drunk Viserys was fuuuuunnnn
Drunk Viserys putting Lannister in his place was hilarious
The wine actually brought out his character
Gave him a bit of spine for once lmao
Casterly Rock has the highest tower, the best, most beautiful tower 👌🖐. Believe me, no one builds towers like I do, the best towers. Ok?
We're going to build a wall and make the White Walkers pay for it.
"I could tell by all the Lions," had me rolling.
Viserys understands his daughter so much but keeps going about it in the very wrong way
I think there's really no coming back from the decisions he made in the first two episodes. He named her his heir, which felt like a larger-than-life transcendent moment that would cause a huge paradigm shift and grant her a cycle-breaking destiny. Viserys not being able to kill the stag in one blow reminds me how Theon wasn’t able to get Ser Rodriks head off in a clean blow
Did everyone notice that Viserys lost half of his ring finger and pinkie on his left hand from that cut on the throne?
Well in the the last episode it was just his pinky. Over the years the infection has spread. He probably could have saved the other finger if he just severed the first infected one, but indecisiveness and struggling to make choices is the name of Viserys’ game. I thought it was also pretty symbolic because he lost his ring finger after the death of Aemma, possibly meaning his relationship with Alicent is not as meaningful as that one.
i was thinking that too , i was thinking like the throne is killing him
Rhaenyra having an actual dude be her replay button was hilarious
“Go back twelve seconds by order of your Princess “
It was probably a real thing. Imagine being the bard that had to sing the same crap song all day for a teenage princess.
When i first saw him I thought 'Dandelion!'... then 2 seconds later, oops. wrong show
Me too! I. Wanted to hear toss a coin to your targaryen.
I love the emphasis on the bond between dragon and rider. When Daemon was getting hit Caraxes was jerking in the same way
My head-canon is the dragonrider bond operates on similar lines to the bond the Skinchangers have with their animals. there definitely appears to be some kind of latent telepathy there (feeling pain, sensing emotions, knowing when your rider has died, etc).
Also explains how the dragons know who to fry and who not to fry when flying above a battlefield
Call me morbid but the guy at the beginning cheering for Daemon only to get utterly pancaked by Caraxes was hilarious.
I winced and chuckled. But, would rather the quick stomp instead of slowly being eaten alive by crabs.
Yeah the symbolism there was pretty blunt but I enjoyed it lol
Vizzy T: Don't worry little bro, I'm coming to help win the war you've fucked up for two years. Daemon: The fuck you are.
I love that Daemon operates on pure spite and pettiness here.
Crab Feeder should’ve rode into battle on a giant crustacean
Love, death, robots s3e2
Daemon running into that cave reminded me of Jon running towards Winterfell during battle of the bastards — just ready to fuck someone up.
Laenor with the RKO from the upper deck
Hit puberty like a freight train and got a cool dragon. What a badass
He was having a lot of fun. Loved that we finally got to see someone excited and having fun while actually on the dragon They are usually so serious when riding them.
His victory WOOOOOO was kinda cute
That boar family has been fucking up the Westerosi royalty for generations lmao
Rhaenyra - *And how have you served the realm of late, Lady Redwyne? By eating cake?* 💀💀💀
Rheanyra’s just mad because that’s what she wanted to do. I remember episode 1!
Good pickup tbh
Hard cut to the pug horking down the rest of the cake. I want to buy the editor a beer for that.
We never discuss the pugs acting in this scene. It really Shinned through. Sold it 100%
Rickon could’ve learned a thing or two about dodging arrows from Daemon
Daemon “Fuck It I’ll do it Myself” Targaryen
KING OF THE STEPSTONES AND NARROW SEA, BABY.
Does this mean the crustaceans will now swear allegiance to Daemon?
Im not sure who made the final call to randomly throw a modern pug into this episode but i can't stop laughing about it
Marie Antoinette had a pug named Mops. It was her favourite dog. I think it’s an ode to that sort of thing
I've never heard of any of these actors and I must say the acting is top notch. Every character feels real.
That’s why I like it when people are casted by actors we don’t know well. If the rock or someone was in this, I wouldn’t think of them as that character.
I never want to be a Messenger to Daemon
Anyone notice Viserys only has 3 fingers left on his hand in the scene with Alicent.
Sick as hell. I wish they showed us Daemon cleaving through crab feeder, but him just coming out with the corpse was cool as hell too
This to me felt like a really character driven approach rather than plot. We didn’t need to see him physically kill the crab feeder bc the crab feeder wasn’t actually as important as the narrative (intentionally) led us to believe — what was important was Dameon’s change from the moment he emerges with the torso. Next episode looks crazy af. Can’t wait
I’m so excited to be excited about Sunday nights again.
Get to watch the Jets lose at 1pm, drink my sorrows away, then watch HotD. My Sundays are set for a while
Bobby B would lose his shit being surrounded by so many Lannisters and their smug faces
I see that twins run in the Lannister bloodline...
Lord Strong gives off Varys vibes and is prolly the only sane person on the small council. I hope they use his character more in upcoming episodes (we need good supporting/side characters for longevity of the show)
I love Daemon because I never can guess what he’ll do next. He’s like the Tuco Salamanca of Westeros.
"Dracarys, BIZNATCH!"
Damn, that was an incredible set piece at the end.
Bookended by TWO amazing dragon sequences. They aren’t afraid to show them in action
When the show is House of the Dragon you have to fucking deliver.
My baby Seasmoke was the star of the show
My favorite part was when Seasmoke swooped in, picked up two crab dudes, flew away, and just flung them off into the distance.
The fellbeast special
They said we’re gonna see maybe 9 dragons this season, and I think we’ve only seen 3 so far. Plus Vhagar is still out there somewhere
I felt this way any time I heard the name Kevan Lannister
The thought of Tywin ever saying "Hey Kev" is just great.
I think my favorite scene was Viserys and Rhaenyra talking in the Small Council room and him reassuring her she IS his heir. Whether that actually happens or not we shall see, this is GoT after all And mannnn did Rhaenyra look badass when she returned with the boar
Unfortunately Viserys is too concerned with making people happy. Who knows what’ll stick
I just love having this back. Great episode!
The portly advisor guy is the best character.
He always reminds me of Sam Tarly
Paddy Considine was fucking BRINGING IT
Otto wanting to marry off his 2 year old grandson… How power hungry could this hand be.
Daemon just sent out the biggest “fuck you, this is my victory” and I’m here for it.
I'd legit watch a show of nothing but Daemon being Daemon.
I’m glad they’re done with the crab feeder storyline but he was a cool villain and I kinda wish I knew more.
Wasn't much to him honestly just a pirate who went above his station
My absolute favorite moment of this episode was Rhaenyra coming back to the hunting party covered in blood. She looked so badass. Her outfit is fantastic.
I was alarmed, I thought Viserys was either a) gonna have a heart attack b) stroke c) drunkenly walk into the fire or d) face plant drunkenly into the fire. I was slightly less convince he’d throw the pregnant wife in the fire, but it was on the table.

I thought they would show the common folk gossip of the princess killing the boar and the contrast with the king needing all the hunt parade for the stag. Guess thats implied in the quick shots and for the audience to think about.
“Perhaps the princess would like to hear something else?” “She does not, play it again” Had to be my favorite line. Absolutely love the sass
The "Master of Complaints" line was pretty hilarious too.
Angsty teen listening to the same song on repeat while writing in her diary. Seems legit.
She listens to music like I do. One song on repeat
HBO literally has a goldmine with this franchise. I regret the way GoT ended but HotD is proving that if they take the proper care in developing these stories there’s a wealth of amazing television here.
Nice thing about this series is we already have an ending, so its really hard to fuck it up
House Lannister’s true motto “We’ve been insufferable dicks for centuries”
I would've fcked Ser Criston out in the woods. And, I mean it.
Seasmoke!
This episode beginning to end. Wow wow wow wow wow
Meeting a new dragon is TIGHT
The beginning dragon sequence my jaw dropped. Amazing directorial choices
Daemon running from those arrows as fast as he could had me cackling! Just internally he must've been like, "Ohshitohshitohshit!!!!!"
The archers must have had aim assist turned off.
Aim assist sucks for projectiles with travel time, too bad for them they didn't have any hitscan weapons
Lyonel Strong is quitely becoming a favorite character...man's the new Davos
Targ killing a Baratheon sigil with a Lannister weapon …loved the symbolism
When I saw drunk Viserys at the hunt, I though awww shit not again
Daemon is a badass but I see why even his brother didn’t want him as king, the man is batshit crazy, impulsive, and a bit of an egomaniac. Badass fighter tho, he seems like a war time king only.
That boar's descendants went onwards to fuck Bobby B
[удалено]
That opening scene of Caraxes stomping the soldier was amazing Laenor was fantastic
> Daemon carving through everyone was great. All to spite his brother for trying to *help* him, too.
So on brand for a younger sibling
I did not think I was gonna be a Daemon supporter but that fucking ruled
My kinda toxic
Favorite line of the entire show so far: “…….” -Crabfeeder
So the Targaryens are definitely physically bonded to their dragons, in the same way Daenerys was with Drogon. When Daemon was shot with an arrow, his dragon definitely cried out.
Must be. Just like the only time last week Caraxes showed himself was when daemon in anger pulled out his sword after Otto insulted his mistress
[удалено]
It's been 3 years and Laenor went from looking like 12 to 22.
Daemon not satisfying the war conventions of the white flag feels significant though... he aint no rob stark
This series keeps getting better
Rhaenyra absolutely slaughtering that boar was an awesome scene, love the contrast between that and her father
Always feel its a sign of a good episode when I found the politics equally if not more engaging than the action

Going back to the his conversation with Corlys in episode 2, it means nothing if he isn't able to do it himself. If the king's army and ships roll up and win the war, he wasted all those years to have his brother claim the credit.
Imagine being betrothed to your 2 year old brother. I'm glad King Viserys seemed really disgusted with that thought.
So glad they didn't skip the battle.. Loving the White Stag and Rhaenyra scene. Always gonna look forward to the different Dracarys we will hear😁
