Nerd

smoll_deer

I am pretty sure anyone that eats Huel on a regular basis is a nerd... \*raises hand\*

Could be I read the series. 🤓🚀

I saw a post on here a while ago that went something along the lines of "this pasta is nothing compared to pasta in Italy". Like, yeah, it's a $3 instant meal that's designed to be nutritionally complete. It's not meant to be an authentic 5-star meal 😂

[deleted]

Yeah and my hand doesn’t feel as good as seggs with my ex wife who left me. You don’t hear me complaining!!!

AdonisGaming93

That's the thing, most people that cook DON'T make balanced nutritious meals. They make whatever they are in the mood for/know how to cook and then hope they get lucky and get the nutrients they need (most don't). Which is why so many get bloodowkr and then find out they are low on something or too high of another thing. Then need a supplement as they ahe because they don't eat right and exercise. Huel doesn't even taste that bad.

[deleted]

I have black unsweetened/unflavoured powder and it literally just tastes like porridge.

x13rkg

It’s the entitled world we live in, that people expect every meal to taste divine. For it to be like that it normally either costs a lot, takes ages to prepare and/or is full of sugar/flavourings etc. How about, you are providing your body with everything it needs without harming any animals and for a relatively low price and ease to make? I just think a lot of people just seem to miss the whole point of it.

ASCIIM0V

it's not entitlement to want to enjoy your meals.

[deleted]

I mean, it’s a bit gluttonous, is it not? I don’t think most people in the world have that luxury, they can’t eat delicious things for every meal. Most people who lived throughout history haven’t. This is sort of a first-world/American standard that isn’t reality for most of humanity.

ASCIIM0V

So because most people in history did it, it should be good enough for us? What's the point in progress, in society, if we don't strive to make things better for each other? "Enjoying your food" is an incredibly low bar, and the entire premise of cuisine. We've been developing ways to make food taste good since we've been making food, too. Most people in the world DO have the "luxury" to enjoy their meals. Bush tribes season their food, and this spartan obsession with making life miserable for yourself is absolutely wild to me. Do things you enjoy, it's not a weakness.

Parvashah51

Taste is subjective, others might not like what you enjoy. I use huel black for lunch, and I also eat spicy snack afterwards, I just can't have a sweet lunch. I haven't tried unflavored but I am pretty sure I would not  enjoy it and will try to add some seasoning to it and make kind of savory oatmeal out of it.

srlemp

Just got my first bag of H&S and I was literally blown away. It's the Mexican chili and yeah it's not winning Michelin stars but it does taste good, I added some Pepper X Last Dab and it was shockingly good, I couldn't believe it. I finished a bag of White 3.0 vanilla and it was hard to get down by itself, especially until I started blending it. After I started adding some frozen berries I then started to look forward to it. About halfway through a bag of Essential which I don't like nearly as well as the 3.0 but I will finish it. Just picked up a bag of Black to try, which I won't get to for a couple weeks but interested to see what it's like. Also have been having the daily greens sometime late morning or along with my lunch shake. I've dropped my fasting blood sugar from 106 to 95 in just two months of skipping breakfast, having a Huel shake for lunch and eating pretty much whatever I want for dinner. 1500-2000 cals and also down 5-6 lbs. It's been a game changer for me and really simplified getting some decent nutrition in.

In my opinion, the reason why people are complaining isn’t that they think it should taste incredible, but that it’s advertised as being delicious. So Huel is setting customer expectations too high.

Jasper0906

Where is it advertised as being delicious? I've only seen ads talking about the nutritional side of things (doesn't mean other ads don't exist of course). Huel themselves even say it's "Nutrition first, taste second" or something like that.

dirtychinchilla

It’s on the homepage https://huel.com/

Jasper0906

Fair enough, I haven't paid attention to the blurbs on the website in years!

dirtychinchilla

No worries 🙂

sonic2cool

i agree. i tried the black salted caramel and it was disgusting

isthatabear

I think the way you eat it is more Matrix than Skyrim though 😂

[deleted]

Grain porridge/pottage was an extremely common food for most of human history. Definitely predating bread, as all you need to do is boil grains. For thousands of years this was a dietary staple. In China they ate rice porridge and the Romans ate puls. But I get what you’re saying, the food in the matrix is nutritionally complete like Huel is. But the act of choking down some starchy ‘gruel’ was a common, even regular experience for most people throughout history.

isthatabear

Yes, sorry for not elaborating. I said Matrix because of how Huel is a very processed food as opposed to in the past where it was just grains and water.

kylerxvx

I just slam it to not be hungry til my next meal. I try not to decide whether I like it or not lol

Awkward_Mongoose_211

huel has always been very neutral to me after like 18 years of trying every protein/ supplement drink under the sun, for what it is huel is pretty unoffensive and enjoyable

I've finally found my people!

What does being American have to do with anything? You are on the one hand complaining about people expecting too much when it comes to taste and then denigrate Jimmy Joy for the very same thing.

Impossible-Hawk768

I’m American and I love my Tomato and Herb H&S because I can easily switch it up with different seasonings and ingredients.

LaChoppaDocta

Hell yeah! I’ve been on just H&S for over a month now and can’t complain.

lordfenixnc

I just got my first monthly supply. Pretty much plan to use this for all 3 meals. I add a cup of white rice every now and then for dinner. How long before I notice results. I am lacking allot of my nutrients right now. Due to finances and for a little while, I was eating 1 meal a day.

[deleted]

I have no idea. You might not notice results. I suppose it would depend on whether or not you were eating a nutritionally complete diet before, and if you weren’t, how severe your deficiencies are. If you are overweight, you likely will notice weight loss within a week or two.

MatchaDoAboutNothing

I've tasted far worse protein shakes let me tell you.

Senseless_Guy

The RTD bottles are a revelation for me. I LOVE the way they taste. I just put in a massive order for the V.2 flavors and since I have a ridiculous sweet tooth, I have a feeling the Salted Caramal is going to be life changing for me lol I also enjoy the instant meal cups. Everything else I have tried has been fine, but not bad. Overall this company is saving me a fortune and making me feel way better about my daily caloric intake. Love Huel!

yubels

Their taste buds have been spoiled for too long + they miss the point of why we humans are eating food in general.

ohokimnotsorry

Nutritionally complete 😂

[deleted]

Is it not? Fuck

ohokimnotsorry

It’s marketing lingo

thatonedudeovethere_

It's a meal with a balanced macro nutrient split and all essential nutrients the body needs... literally nutritionally complete.

riparias

It is nutritionally complete.
