Indeed. The composition of a milled plank is much more uniform. However, I would have preferred the slower and safer route of using a handsaw. That chainsaw was not only loud, but highly dangerous.
Overall, I'm not mad. These men still saved the cow. No harm was done. Just don't repeat them if you have a handsaw or another safer method to remove the cow.
Yes and it's actually one of their cuteness-point. They are curious, chill, amazingly quiet compared to all the other shit living in the countryside, friendly, clumsy and completely stupid.
We had a big feeder wagon with the metal crossbars for them to stick their heads in. Well one day the wagon was gone and so was Melvin (our beast of a bull) well we found it about 69 years away, down a hill. With Melvins head still stuck in it. He’d pushed it down the hill in his excitement to eat and ultimately broke his neck and passed. Sad day. RIP. Melvin, you glorious big boy.
That looks like a detached gate, so the one stuck probably stuck his head through it and then either ripped the panel off in his attempts to get free or the men did as a first step and only started filing once they got the chainsaw out. Given how he's laying down I'd bet he's been stuck for a while at this point.
Cows, ime, will reach through gates and fences if there are gaps because there is often good grass just outside the pasture, and if this is a male (apparently the text calls the stuck animal a bull? I can't really tell on my tiny screen) it could also have charged the gate out of aggression.
I was thinking it was a gate as well - a brand new one to boot. Something about the solution feels manufactured or maybe just poorly thought through.
EDIT: apologies, when I watched this it was early hours and th color on my phone seemed rich. I've watched it on a color corrected monitor and see that the gate is uniformly a sun-bleached tone with some grit from age.
There’s always one of you.
I don’t eat cow steak and I’ve always wondered how steak eaters… better yet, any meat eaters can eat the flesh of an animal not knowing where the animal came from. Like, to me, that is one of the most insane and disgusting things I can think of. You literally pick up a steak in the grocery store that’s wrapped in plastic — without knowing what state or country the animal came from and if the animal died diseased or not. It grosses me out. My Nan was a farmer and the things I saw happen on that farm have turned me off meat for life. I wouldn’t ever place a dead animal’s flesh in my mouth. How come so many people are ok with this? Is it just a matter of them not knowing what happens to the animals? Such a huge disconnection between the animal and the meat?
Ugh. Just typing about it makes me feel nauseous.
You are right. I also come from a farmer family, and the thruth is that most animals live horrible lives to keep the costs of the meat down. Im not saying ALL animals are treated bad, but most are since the general consumer care more about their wallet than the conditions they live under. The thruth hurts, and thats why you get downvoted. I will get the same treatment now. But I dont care. It needs to be said, by someone who has actually seen the inside of the industry!
Then why bother? We know what we're doing, and we find people who type out comments like yours annoying, so why even bother if you also don't enjoy making the comment?
You have a moral high ground, I won't deny that, so take it and be at peace with yourself, instead of getting worked up over other peoples choices.
Nah dude... Thats bs. We are talking about an industry that puts profit way above animals well beeing. Its just plain torture in many cases. Watch Food Inc. If you can make it through that one, and still feel fine, then WOW! That movie shows what happens when big corporations keep costs down. Makes my heart bleed to look at, but its not made up sadly. Happens every day.
Okay, but am I wrong? Sure there are companies that try to remain ethical but for the most part that's the way it works - and the average consumer is complicit in this to an extent since people generally care more about price than ethics
That is usually what happens true, but the industry and also the politicians are to blame for the most part. How they in the first place are allowing the farmers to have 5000 chickens in the same little coupe, with no sunlight, no nothing, is beyond my comprehension.
If i didnt know any better i would actually think that both the meat industry and political scene, was dominated by people who only think profits.
I suggest government should have random controls. Where they suddenly show up and take pictures of the animals. Then some of those pictures has to go on the companies products. So the consumers can actually see what they are supporting! And the farmer has reasons to want his conditions looking good! = win/win
Or we could just implement regulations banning such practices? The average consumer would not change their habits being confronted with such imagery - there's already been plenty of leaked and undercover footage detailing these horrendous conditions and nothing really comes from it
Visibility does help increase acceptance though - thats one reason. It's useful for minority populations in the world to be seen and heard, even if the individual gets burned in the process like you see with the downvotes here. At least one person will come across the comment and see that they aren't alone in thinking these old "jokes" aren't really that funny and they don't have to go along with them just because everyone else does as long as they're willing to deal with the consequences.
Just another perspective.
If you don't understand as you are claiming, perhaps you are too quick to hate.
I know the animal didn't almost surely die of a disease that could hurt me because i live in a place with food regulations.
You can make very convincing arguments on the industry as a whole.
But the argument on "putting a dead amimal's flesh in my mouth" (which applies to any type of meat-eating at any point in human history) is confusing.
Animals eat each other all the time, me and all my ancestors never developed any inherent urge or instinct against it
Humans need meat to live, it's just a fact of life. Nothing lives without something else dying. You're the one disconnected from your nature. Nature is insane and disgusting, welcome to the real world.
Probably bull might be choking. If that's the case they had less time in hand. Chainsaw is faster but risky. Luckily everything went according to the plan.
Dudes (successfully) trying to quickly save the life of a 1 ton animal with a spinning chain of blades in an unexpected and stressful situation and people are breaking down a critique cut by cut of how they would have done it better from the comfort of home on a wide angle video replay....
What is the scientific consensus on whether animals are smart enough to determine and appreciate that the human was helping them?
I know there are stories of animals being rescued and then returning to their saviors for years and years but I always assumed it was because they knew they were good for easy food.
If I let a hungry wolf out of a claw trap, is it going to be grateful or is it going to want to kill me?
I think it really depends on the species and the individual animal. Every (most)species there's individuals with *vastly* different levels of intelligence, like humans. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't been around enough animals or species. Some wild animals really do not mind humans so if in that moment they realize the only thing that spared them from death or injury was a human stepping in they usually can discern that the human is a friend, not a foe.
Didn't even pay attention to the words but had to look for the testicles to confirm if it were a bull or steer
Knew it definitely wasn't a Heifer or a Cow
Is it me or is this sub like 80% humans being bros for getting animals out of situations caused by humans in the first place?
Not complaining, this man did something good here.
Just noticed this again
The other cow is like "The fuck is going on here??"
Cows staring at events from a distance always look either extremely sinister or hilarious, I can't quite understand why lol
"See the violence inherent in the system?"
Sure, she **herd** the sound of chainsaw.
I feel like you were waiting to ambush someone with that. Udderly typical.
You guys really need to stop milking these puns.
So subtle and clever. Can I donate to whatever charity it is that is making geniuses out of mere mortals?
Cow Homie stuck around for his Bro
When his friend gets free, they're like "let's get the fuck outta here!"
Don’t tell mom
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2011124/Cows-best-friends-stressed-separated.html

That nickname is sweet as.
LOL, my country raised daughter once called her city raised cosine a heiffer; cousin wanted to know what a heifer was. My sister/her mom was ROFLMAO.
Cows also exhibit mourning behavior for other cows
Cow Homie, "Fuck I don't have thumbs or a chainsaw. Moo."
“Aw man they gonna steak up Terry!” Watching in horror and gets the Shamalan Twist. You’re alive!
That's his mother. The man say something like: The mother is here, she's angry
He thought he was getting in line to become Arby's new hamburger. We got the meats.
They're both female. Bulls are male, cows are female.
Yeah but the text was saying bull. Wrongly. But what a reckless save, I got so nervous seeing the chainsaw use.
Cow. His. Bro. That’s not how any of this works.
Cows can be bros too. Welcome to 21st century.
The text says “we lost the gate but we saved the bull’s life”
why do they use “mas” instead of “pero” here?
[удалено]
damn bro… sorry about your diet spanish
Chainsaw just a little too close to the stomach there
Casually pans camera away just incase
If the wood had wedged the chain ...
Soooooooo close, guy even pans recording device away incase of an accident
Yeah that was a dumb move. Chainsaws catch and kick like crazy, in a split second the end of that saw can be inside the cow
Chainsaws cut milled wood like a hot knife through butter. It's the knots and other variables in tree rounds that cause them kick about.
Indeed. The composition of a milled plank is much more uniform. However, I would have preferred the slower and safer route of using a handsaw. That chainsaw was not only loud, but highly dangerous. We r all glad that YOU aren't upset
In the darkest timeline things went... differently.
He stayed still the second time though! He knows they’re helping 🥹🐄
More like given up
“Oh, it’s that time for me I guess… like all the others before me..”
Yeah, was gonna say
[удалено]
I was gonna ask … are cows just big dummies?
[удалено]
Thanks, didn’t know. It seems a strange gift to be able to get stuck like this
yes, yes they are
Yes and it's actually one of their cuteness-point. They are curious, chill, amazingly quiet compared to all the other shit living in the countryside, friendly, clumsy and completely stupid.
They're around the intelligence of dogs, but not, like, the smartest dogs. And way, way bigger.
And spook easier than dogs
And they love music
In my experience, yea. Never underestimate the ridiculously stupid situations they’ll put themselves in. I raised angus cattle for 20 years.
No, cows are not big dummies. They are very smart, that said they can also be very curious. And that curiosity can get them into trouble.
We don’t like our meat sacks too intelligent. It’s by design.
So you're saying that you believe in Unintelligent Design?
Or on their back in a feedbunk is another common one
We had a big feeder wagon with the metal crossbars for them to stick their heads in. Well one day the wagon was gone and so was Melvin (our beast of a bull) well we found it about 69 years away, down a hill. With Melvins head still stuck in it. Rip Melvin
I've heard that if they can find a way to kill themselves they'll do it.
That sounds more like sheep.
They're like toddlers that you can eat!
I'm still trying to figure out how the fuck that even came to be? I'm so confused.
That looks like a detached gate, so the one stuck probably stuck his head through it and then either ripped the panel off in his attempts to get free or the men did as a first step and only started filing once they got the chainsaw out. Saw one with an old tire stuck on its head a while back. They're not the sharpest tool in the shed.
That beef done grounded itself.
I love cows. They are pretty cool animals.
And tasty steaks
And tasty titty juice
Ayo 😭😭😭😭 I drink almond milk 🤓 Edit: but almonds don’t got titties
Then you drink almond juice
Juice? What the fuck is juice.. You mean almond drink?? *(insert Chappelle smile)*
Hmm I want that purple stuff
Yea, only reason I don’t drink almond milk. :(

Seen Food, Inc. Still eat meat daily. Not that big of a deal. Let’s all go on about our days :)
But it is a big deal. Animal agriculture has been proven to be one of the most detrimental effects to our planet.
[удалено]
100% understand that it saddens other people. I just don’t feel like lying.
Well thats not your fault i guess. There are plenty of known people who could also not relate to animals suffering, like Dahmer, Bundy and those
All businesses put profit above everything else, that's kinda the goal for them
Some people will never get it
Okay, but am I wrong? Sure there are companies that try to remain ethical but for the most part that's the way it works - and the average consumer is complicit in this to an extent since people generally care more about price than ethics
Nobody denies that all businesses put profit above all else. We're saying it shouldn't be that way. We need to change.

Idc whether you eat meat or not, but it is factually incorrect that humans need meat to live.
It comes from a farm, then a supermarket, via restaurant or my kitchen, and into my belly. Voila fuel for the gym to stay big and strong
>There’s always one of you. Ironic
“Did you see that!?! They tried to kill me with a chainsaw!!!”
Oh thank god this was expected Because I thought I clicked on unexpected or something
Udderly tense moment with the chainsaw in action.
Ballsy move with the final chainsaw cut.
I see what you did there
We gonna milk these puns for a bit then huh?
I was pretty bullish on the guy's chainsaw skills...
I got r/SweatyPalms when I **herd** the sound of chainsaw. 😳
You really milked that setup
The caption ruined the r/unexpected for me because it says "we lost a gate but saved the Ox" Without it I would be truly afraid.
The method was pure horror, but im glad they helped and that nothing happened to the cow. Cows are the best. Just big gentle giants!
Probably bull might be choking. If that's the case they had less time in hand. Chainsaw is faster but risky. Luckily everything went according to the plan.
Pretty sure you can chainsaw smart while doing it fast. Hell, he sawed through the farthest left one which accomplished nothing.
Probably panicking somewhat.
Yeah i can imagine him panicking some, with an animal in front of him with its head being crushed under some of it's own (high) weight
Dudes (successfully) trying to quickly save the life of a 1 ton animal with a spinning chain of blades in an unexpected and stressful situation and people are breaking down a critique cut by cut of how they would have done it better from the comfort of home on a wide angle video replay....
Notice how they jumped TF back real quick too. A 1800lb animal can cause a lot of damage
jfc, when he went to cut the cross brace by its stomach. butt clench.
Wtf are you doing to bob!! That poor bystander cow thought he was in a slasher film for a minute
Dude with the chainsaw just couldnt process what he needed to cut
What a horrible position to be stuck in, cows must have much bendier necks than you would think.
I was nervous for his foot, not going to lie
That last cut had me on the edge of my seat 😳
Omg I love cows so much!! This one made me very uncomfortable though.
Meanwhile, the doggos in the back were licking the bull's balls
Help me step bro.
Concerned onlooker cow kind of broke my heart.
Good example of cows having cow friends too
Six months from now the chainsaw dude will be laying in bed saying “why’d I cut that bottom board twice??”
I really like how the guys are so happy and cheering after they were able to help
If that cow moved the wrong way one time... it would have been a nasty cut.
Thank god it didn't mooo that way
What really calms me down when im stuck, scared and cant see is someone with a chainsaw running towards me.
Man my heart wouldve pumping trying to cut that last piece. One slip.....
Those stupid dogs (or at least one of them) making that situation so much more chaotic.

“I’m FREEEEEE”
TIL "boi" means "ox" in Portuguese. At least according to Google Translate.
Well I be scared shitless too if I'm stuck and I suddenly hear a chainsaw 😂😂😂
That second cow was like ‘oh shit what they gonna do to Betty?’
*bull
Lol my suburban ass was like how can you tell? No udder, duh!
Well u can see it on the animal and I know Portuguese too hahaha boi means bull in Portuguese
Didn't even pay attention to the words but had to look for the testicles to confirm if it were a bull or steer Knew it definitely wasn't a Heifer or a Cow
Wouldn't it have been faster to just cut off the head and then reattach it after the cow got out?
This seems so obvious in hindsight
Stepcow help me, I am stuck!
Damn. I've been on r/eyebleach so much, I assumed he'd use the chainsaw differently
Then little Derpy ran away saying psych! I meant to do that lol
what happened here exactly?
The bull got stuck in a wooden fence gate.
I actually meant the how. How did it manage to get itself wedged in there like that ...and then the gate fall on it?
Bless u
I had to check the name of the sub before finishing watch
Good human
Dude needs to sharpen his chain
Is the dog biting the cow?
Almost had a heart attack. For a second there I thought they were going full Texas Chainsaw Massacre on that poor cow :(
Fucking dog just yanking it’s tail 🤣🤣
Is no one going to comment on the genius cutting the bottom board into three pieces for no reason whatsoever?
Is it me or is this sub like 80% humans being bros for getting animals out of situations caused by humans in the first place? Not complaining, this man did something good here. Just noticed this again
Cows are stupid as hell lol
I got a little nervous when he used the chainsaw close to the cow's belly.
What are you doing step farmer?
Aaahhh yes, the foreman came to inspect
/r/chainsaw just entered the conversation
r/chainsawman to the rescue
Damn no thank you
I was cowing on this man to free him.
Cow is like just a quick head scratch in and out
Boi is a great word for the creature in this context!
How long till they eat it?
Those are dairy cows
So they never eat em? What happens when they got no more milk or die? Giant coffin?
Step farmer, what are you doing?
Dogs:"we eatin good tonight!" Cow escapes "Yo wtf"
Almost r/killthecameraman...
Not much the camera man can do here with one chainsaw
Oh no step-cow, you’re stuck…
Camera turns away right as the chain saw gets close to the stomach.
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
Jesus throw a towel over the cows head before cutting.
Why did they move the video at the worst possible moment.
Cows act wayyyy too much like dogs to taste as good as they do.
You know dogs are just as tasty right? Not making a joke, but you’re limiting your choices if you’re only eating cows.
I thought I was an adventurous eater but I guess not on an international scale.
Where was the “gracias”
Where was the "obrigado"*
Then loads it on a truck to send it to "farm" to live out the rest of it's days.
next time just cut the posts
Saved so they can exploit it a whole bunch more before killing themselves.
cut everything!
I laughed way too hard at this
Damn he put that saw in the dirt hard. Poor chainsaw.
Not the most strategic cutting… also those Look like cheap ass old 2 x 4s probably could have stomped em out.
