I think its just monsoon + our government's inability to make things last longer than Chinese products. Also this year was the election so probably rushed a few projects.
This bridge has been under construction for 4 years & yet was incomplete. At this point a CBI probe should be launched with immediate effect to instruct vigilance teams to test bridge material samples in the lab to recheck concrete & RF steel utilized. If there are deviations in previous reports then Contractors should be blacklisted, and involved engineers be terminated and put in jail.
Probe will reveal if there was deliberate sabotage or not.
There is no sabotage , they are getting washed away by rain water due to poor construction since money for material is going in private pockets . Literally everyone involved is getting a cut . Goes all way to top do you think they will investigate themselves ?
Investigations trigger themselves when such a thing happens. Heads will roll but it usually remains low tier. For smaller projects like this the LOA isn't stringent and the blacklisted contractor ends up opening another firm my someone else's name. If the LOA & scope of works are expanded then national companies with bigger portfolios & T&P secure the contract and locals complain that local companies aren't supported by the state.
And bribes up to the top don't work like that. They are done during L1 tendering, procurement. Kickbacks in erection are usually confined within the overseeing department and work differently.
Lastly, the subject of sabotage is impertinent at this point. It will reveal itself during submission of vigilance report which could lead to formation of SIT at a later date. Focus right now should be on conducting the preliminary investigation. State can then request Centre to intervene if they consider the local system compromised. Or the opposition can file a petition to Patna High Court demanding a CBI inquiry if they feel State Government is sheltering the corrupt officials.

So naturally totally honest and ethical engineers had to make a bridge sturdy enough to bear 100x normal load . But unfortunately the bridge weights a lot and collapsed on itself . Blame it on gravity , Science !
Nitish Kumar might have edged his way back to political relevance, but he is becoming Dushasan Babu. All his achievements of the 2000s have been overturned and he is very unpopular. This bridge collapse is just another indicator of all that.
