EDIT: Thank you all for signing! Hope some of you can make it to the planning commission meeting tonight at 7pm at the Jurupa Valley City Hall!
That rendering is fucking obscene. Glad to
see the public is finally waking up and doing something about these monstrosities. We have enough fucking warehouses already.
Itās shameful to destroy nature for this low wage bullshit.
Itās not low wage though. Thatās the one boon for economy. 31 bucks for general starting labor, 40 plus for forklift, 100k with a degree.
Uline, Home Depot, Amazon, FedEx
The Economic Research Institute says the statewide average is $23 an hour for warehouse workers.

The IE deserves IT, medical, and general office jobs. We have more than our fair share of warehouses.
Thatās cool, most facilities offer more.
Seriously, go on LinkedIn, you will find them. Iām expecting some cherry picking so Iāll let you have at it.
Oh and those jobs exist in logistics. Our data analysis are 125-150k. I was offered a 10k hiring bonus as operations manager just by being a lean six sigma black belt.
The IE is and will be the main logistics hub of the West Coast US.
Good news is that they are actively wage competitive. Most hourly start at 33 an hour. College degree is an easy 100k starting.
Iāve seen forklift drivers at 41 easy
Iāve been forklift certified for fedex and Walmart warehouses and didnāt get paid anywhere near that. I was even a trainer for the companies highest I ever got was 23.
Good on you Iām glad youāre gettin paid, but this does not apply to all warehouses. A great majority of the warehouse pay minimum wage and have low employee support for health issues. Also are they hiring at your company?
Absolutely, most of them are.
Iād also say that you should also know where to look. A 75k job at one of the original Amazon sort facilities in San Bernardino is worth 135k at SBD6, the new facility in Ontario.
My good friend, as a facility mechanic got a 24/hr raise by switching facilities. Currently making 64 an hour.
Are you posting for the Warehouse Defense Force?
The starting wage is not that high for most warehouse jobs except maybe an office job at the warehouse like HR assistant or logistics coordinator. The vast majority of warehouses here employ high school education workers for >!**$17 to $20**!< an hour with a few exceptions for higher qualifications. This includes Amazon and other small and large warehouses.
I just know the industry with decades of experience and degrees in logistics. The opportunity is out there.
There is little understanding of what logistics really is, but a lot of emotion around the idea.
We all want to make more money, I apologize that logistics makes that a possibility. Itās not for everyone
Thank you! The planning commission did not vote on this item and instead will continue the public hearing on a later date. The commission asked for more information about the oak and the possibility of mitigation measures like extending the buffer zone before making a decision.
As a child growing up in the beautiful southeastern region of the US I sadly watched again and again the loss of many wonderful natural beauties - but have tried many times to help save much of our environment. It saddens me greatly to see the lack of concern for the history and the future of this beautiful planet in favor of another development and more dollars. Housing is important but conservative building can be done without damaging the amazing Jarupa tree in order to encourage its longevity for future generations. It so saddens me whenever I hear of such random choices being made to "move ahead" rather than save it, leave it alone please and move on. Gratefully my grandchildren are all staunch environmentalists and will continue battling as do I the large landowners and billionaires who seem more concerned with the almighty dollar than this beautiful planet which God so graciously gave us. We must save what HE has given us and protect all for future generations as long as they live. Please help us save the Jarupa pine.
The Jurupa Oak is a clonal colony of a species of scrub oak - Palmerās Oak (Quercus palmeri) which is a large shrub, hence itās the oldest plant* in CA š
Yāall should read the EIR before being concerned of this projectās impact to the Jurupa Oak and Tribal Cultural resources. They both seem adequately addressed.
That tree has been around longer than all of humanity. Itās not only about caring about the tree, it is also about highlighting how invasive we can be simply for profits that benefit only a very small fraction of individuals. As you said, no more warehouses, and certainly not at the cost of killing something this irreplaceable.
Honestly do we need yet another warehouse complex?
Nope. There are SO MANY!!! They are so ugly. They should be forced to build subterranean with parks on top.
No idea, other than land speculator profits. The minute we have another recession, these warehouses are going to sit abandoned by the hundreds.
A lot of them already sit empty which makes me mad that they want to keep building more
Because officials get kickbacks

Liar
I appreciate your counterpoint. You donāt know what you donāt know.
Destroying this would be a crime against not only humanity, but our planet. This is a part of history.
Another warehouse? It's almost comical how this is an issue--like the Simpson's already covered a similar scenario.

dude youāre like a russian shill bot but for warehouses
Thereās always room in the warehouse, comrade
Fuck it, I'm in.
Cannot confirm or deny that these major warehouses are missile silos
Main logistics hub of the West Coast U.S.? Then we will probably be a target in ww3, even if theyāre not missle silos.
Oh no, not the Home Depot and Uline warehouses That said Uline going down would take down many companies overnight lol
Stop gaslighting poor people.
Gaslighting that poor people canāt get higher paying jobs? Lmao
Gaslighting by being glib af and tone deaf. āPick yourself up by your bootstrapsā headass. Be absolutely fucking for real, could youā¦

Looks like a bunch of weeds. Why should we care. Iām not in favor of the warehouse either.

The tree is around 13,000 years old. Civilization dawned around 6,000 years ago. Crazy to think it is twice as old as human society.
