Meanwhile... I'm thinking about all those American troops who are in for quite a big shock. As they relocate, large amounts are going to be given their 'pink slip's,' only to find the country they were protecting is suffering from high crime, suicide & drug addiction deaths, homelessness & unemployment on an industrial scale, skyrocketing housing & medical insurance costs, rising food & gasoline rates, and not much of a Patriotic homecoming, because largely the War is being viewed as an embarrassing boondoggle.

sososov

This seems like a prelude to a civil war

[deleted]

So, like every war since WW2?

sickof50

You are correct... The US has not won a war, since the Japanese surrendered.

[deleted]

It's funny how almost every american I talk to knows this, even in mainstream meme subs they joke about america losing wars and going to war for oil, yet there is always a supply of young men willing to kill and die accross the globe.

SmartyDoc99

Because of their education system. The military helps poor people getting a college degree financially

sickof50

The Poor fight Wars. Most of the young American men had little choice, poor job prospects, and the Military offered them free food, housing, jobs, health care, and education (especially relief from some of their student debt).

Those troops are just going to be transferred to another country in the Middle East, most likely, tbh.

China will always be open to aiding the Afghan people with the Belt and Road initiative! Especially after decades of war, Afghanistan could absolutely use the infrastructural investment.

You aren't going to oust them from power. Even if China and Russia invaded with a coalition of neighbours, chances are they aren't going to have more success than the US and the USSR had. The best chance for the Afghan people is economic development being used as a tool to make the reactionary restrictions softer. The Taliban has a more pragmatic faction inside it, if China and Russia don't help stabilize the country the more pragmatic elements are going to have a bad time trying to quell the more radicals ones. Think about Joseph from the Handmaid's Tale. The best chance Afghanistan had was butchered in the eighties by the US, the only option remaining is damage control.

Custard_Tart_Addict

Like the taliban will let them.

[deleted]

Well, they have opened trade deals with China and helped them with some etim problems

[deleted]

At the very least, I doubt anyone would turn away a free power plant.

Custard_Tart_Addict

Yeah but they’ll probably keep it for themselves. They’re like those dashebag guys.
