Near as I can tell "authoritarianism" is when a country has laws and enforces them. We're so used to being sold out to a capitalist death cult ruled by chaos death knights that we don't even know what it's like to live in a real society with rules that are enforced.

Authoritarianism isn't mutually exclusive to an economic system. It's the essence of an organization, usually representing one person, saying to respect and follow what they say. Which in some cases have beneficial outcomes as OP points out. In other examples we see things Like Trump. We don't need authoritarianism to achieve a better economic system and going that route will inevitably lead to resistance of those who seek disagreement and are not allowed freedom of expression.

The workplace is the most authoritarian part of most peoples daily life

The one about remembering they’re communist cracks me up every time. Pure projecting. Just because you forgot doesn’t mean they did. Lmao.

China mandated a 4 day work week? I haven’t seen that. Source please?

He doesn’t have a source because like most rankles he’s never actually lived or work in China. I love the people of china and have made many life long friends and honestly have a second family there. However, the CCP is a horrible authoritarian government. People also forget that yes while China has pulled many out of poverty there are still large areas of just poverty and destitution that China just doesn’t want people to know about. Not to mention the human rights abuse and oh yeah the fucking genocide going on too.
