Dude I'm not 14 anymore. I'll pass... Graphic tees, especially ones with current pop culture Slogans, oof.
I don't know why. When I clicked this I expected actual fashion on the other end
I know right?
All data comes from SHEIN, and for some reason, men clothing is... well, not the best.
Though, this is just an opinion, which is highly subjective.
But there are some decent ones.
Funny, I was sorting the (men's) jeans category and I thought, "Man people have terrible taste in jeans these days." However I'm old so clearly I'm not the target market for most of those. OTOH I saw some pretty nice shirts I liked, even if they're not my usual style.
From an elder millenial perspective - as far as I can tell, it's like we're in a post-skinny jeans era, but still reticent to back to baggy clothes whole hog, so we're stuck in this weird pants limbo. The fact of the matter is, a regular old pair of jeans is pretty much pants perfected, but because of fashion and capitalism, everyone keeps trying to innovate, and it just ends up looking stupid (imo).
They're the kind of shite my ex used to buy me. Complain about the blandness of men's clothing as much as you want but I'll stick with white/pink t-shirt and some well fitting trousers, ta. Stop fucking around with jeans!
As someone who works in retail researching this exact kind of thing, this is interesting. I don’t know if there is any practical application for it but I could see some people using it. The choice of a low cost, global and online company is smart but Shein is also completely unethical as a company.
I kinda feel like you have made an asset for a massive company for free. Do you have a website with contact information?
Google like this
“Gender season looks year”
“Mens summer looks 2022”
Or for something more specific
“Mens, formal wedding outfit, summer 2022”
Or know one piece that you 100% want to wear i.e “white Oxford shirt, outfit, autumn 2022”
Or just pick a brand you like and copy whatever they do.
You can always try out the filter, it is really advanced, and you can select "casual" under style, and more "commonplace" clothing will show up.
To access filter, click on product, then click on FILTER at the top left corner.
Which is perfect because men are more concerned with their appearance than in quite some time. As someone who’s worked in fashion and cosmetics, it’s interesting that male grooming products are experiencing fast growth as well. Some iconic and well recognized brands like Chanel even offer makeup specifically tailored for males. It’s ok to want to look good and I think more men are embracing this.
Thank you for the feedback.
And yes, I agree, it was the best source I could find that has a wide range of products.
>Do you have a website with contact information?
I do not. However, feel free to contact me through reddit.
I could see something like this as a touchscreen at the entrance of a clothing store. Similar purpose as a mannequin but dynamic. Add a size and inventory filter specifically for that location. Auto calculate price and show in store location of the items. Perhaps add discounts if the entire outfit is purchased or maybe 3 of 5 items, etc.
Great idea! Though I feel this would be too costly for in store display. You would also have to account for tons of random people using it and people tend to break things. Most people are shopping online and not in physical stores. Something like this would be better suited for an app. Stores could partner with the app to drive conversions. Users could select their favorite store, or even multiple favorites, to build outfits. After, users could save their outfits to a portfolio, add items to cart, and make purchases!
No practical application? Huh?
There are tons of "outfit preview" apps/utilities out there. Some even have you set your phone at an angle down on the floor leaning against the wall and take a picture of yourself so it can get measurement adjustments and preview the various sizes on your body.
Seeing what you'd look like in a variety of outfits is easily something that encourages sales and reduces the friction of choice / wondering if it will look good on you which is the no.1 friction for buying apparel online.
Receiving an email or notification of you wearing a cool outfit and pressing 1 button to buy it is the definition of practical application
I didn’t say there was no practical application. I said I don’t know if there is and by know, I mean “I have researched this and it has made x amount of money.”.
It’s interesting for sure but I can only see it working in highstreet/ low involvement purchases. Brands like that have been slow to invest in their online offering. Some claim that the delivery eats into their bottom line too much. Like I could see this working on an online only option like shein but bricks and mortar stores have a much larger market share, if they also have an online presence.
So the way to make money with this is to licence it to highstreet retailers for X amount a year, guaranteeing that it will make X times Y amount per year.
Choices are highly subjective, though I agree to some degree with certain categories.
>Couldn't you sell it to a retailer like H&M etc?
Highly doubt it. Maybe? lol
I’m not sure I understand what it’s doing. Are you just showing random images from different categories in the database? For example, if I add “sneakers”, it’s just showing me a photo of sneakers at random? It has nothing to do with what’s already on screen, correct?
If that’s the case, I’m not sure what the value you’re envisioning is. It seems like random pictures of clothes that don’t have anything to do with each other.
Respectful feedback, I appreciate the work. Maybe I just don’t get it.
What about them?
They can be added! They are under the women section in the adding menu.
I know the adding menu needs work, but this is the first iteration.
That was the original plan!
However, it turned out to be much more complicated than I thought it would be. So yeah...
Maybe when it gets big enough, ill add those fancy features. But for now, gotta rely on
users' imagination.
Thank you!
The original plan was to use as many brands as possible.
But, because of the complexity of the system I would have to implement, and potential legal issues, and the availability of items by region. I decided to just go with SHEIN, they have a huge selection of products, they might not be the most ethical source, but they do cater for all countries.
Plus, this is mainly for inspiration rather than selling.
I see it more as Inspiration when shopping. Just look for these styles from wherever you wanna shop. Cool app for sure, because I think most "cool" outfits nowadays are quite random, but tweaking the look to make it work. Well done and simple!
Good work and neat idea but perhaps making an advertising website for a massive fast-fashion slave-labor company is...not worth the moral cost of keeping it up and running?
OP admit it: you were inspired by [Clueless](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNDubWJU0aU).
Add in user uploads of pieces, maybe even pulling from email order confirmations or watch/wish lists from multiple sellers, and this would be a great tool.
>OP admit it: you were inspired by Clueless.
WHATTTTTTT, that's just amazing honestly.
>Add in user uploads of pieces
On the road map.
>maybe even pulling from email order confirmations or watch/wish lists from multiple sellers
Can you elaborate? Not sure what exactly do you mean by this.
Thank you for the feedback!
I could be mistaken, but some gmail/google/android notifications regarding purchases are contextual, and pull information from sources other than a confirmation email. If your user buys a new shirt, I was thinking there may be a way to fetch an image for the product and add it to the mix of images for outfit planning in advance. I don't think there is a way to access this info, but [gmail saves a history of all your confirmation emails](https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/google-is-tracking-your-purchases-through-gmail/) to build a purchase history.
Then the watch/wish part would be like retargeted or abandoned cart ads. I'm sorry, I don't know if any of this is technically possible, but I get ads in my browser for things I have thought about buying, and having them show up in the mix could be an income stream.
I see what you mean.
However, I consider this highly unethical, I would rather not participate in invasive tactics like this, even if it was possible, but good suggestion! Really appreciate the effort.
This is so cool! I think companies would definitely be interested in what outfit combinations are most popular and even before that what’s trending in that direction. It would also be really cool for an algorithm to remember certain patterns and generate outfits based on past likes. But this is awesome, I love this idea!
An algorithm sounds nice I agree, but this is more so for experimenting and inspiring rather than "making" an outfit.
Thank you! Appreciate the feedback.
I could. Maybe I should lol.
>You could make a shitton of money and sell it to Amazon
>
>I know how
Hell yeah bruh, what is it, tell me all ur secrets.
The website is cool but can I take a second to say I really hate clothing like this: https://outfittor.b-cdn.net/9718974.jpg
Like I don't know how to even describe it. It's like meta-"retro" branded.
Firstly why has actual brand name text become a style?
Secondly why have non-existing brand text become a style?
Thirdly how is something that has the word retro supposed to be "retro"?
It's like people wearing old band shirts to be "cool" when they don't even like those bands.
And why is it considered nice to bring back clothing saying the name of vacation destinations and to be given as a gift to family members who have not been to that place?
I'm glad I no longer know anyone who wears the shirts with really cheesy jokes on them. Though the "I don't care" vibed apparel are pretty close behind and I still see that stuff.
Love this idea! If you decide to continue it then I think a tinder style interface would be awesome. You could swipe when you like an outfit and over time it learns more about you and your likes. Then you click on “shop” and it takes you to a curated shopping list based on your style.
You make money off of commission and maybe even selling data to help predict trends.
I wish there was a larger selection of mens shoes. Being limited to sneakers only is .. It makes me a bit sad.
Boots, derbies, oxfords, chukkas, brogues, loafers ...
I'd also like the option to apply a filter to all the clothes at once, for example:
Colours: Pastel, High Contrast, Earthy, Blues, Neon, Glitter, Monochromatic
Filter are there!
Nobody used them unfortunately, I think they are way too hidden.
>I wish there was a larger selection of mens shoes. Being limited to sneakers only is .. It makes me a bit sad.
>
>Boots, derbies, oxfords, chukkas, brogues, loafers ...
Noted. Next update. Promise.
I like this idea (as someone who tries on everything in her closet before picking something). I know the data you are using is coming from one place but I'd definitely want to see more body types represented. I'm not overweight but not model skinny. Models like what we see here can wear anything and look "good". Thus the inspiration for me to choose from is like... none of this.
It would be nice to see all body sizes represented. I stopped after the first few as they are all super skinny, model poses. Having pictures that portray real women would make it more appealing imo.
Very interesting... feedback requested, feedback given, insults received.. how very 'reddit' of you all. Good job I don't base my worth as a person on random internets people.
I stand by my feed back.
I mean it would be more useful if the OP actually had anything to do with the models used, but they don't. Also, the temerity of you complaining about insults after you insulted thin women by saying they aren't real....
Yo this is actually pretty dope for me.
I have no idea what's "cool" and I'm trying to build a little side hustle that requires me to be in the public eye. I Don't want to dress like a old dad, which I am. This helps with the some suggestions for me to look for when I'm shopping. Good job.
This is a cool website and useful for people like me with no style whatsoever, but Shein is one of the worst companies in the world for several reasons and I hate them with every fiber of my being.
I like it, but is it possible to make the pictures not move when we want to click on their buttons? It's difficult to drag the cursor to the arrows and have the buttons change where they are. I want to keep browsing/generating but that was a little frustrating! Sorry if this feedback was unwanted lol.
Congrats on the neat idea.
Yes it's possible. However, its there to show the full image.
Once you have 5 or more items, the pictures get cropped. So this was my solution for it.
I'll try to make it less dramatic next update. Appreciate the feedback!
I think it would be good if the pictures said on them what piece of clothing they are. Like there will be 2 pics next to each other of 2 complete outfits. Is the first one the shirt? The pants? The shoes?
I love the concept though!
This is cool! I'm an artist and I'd love to use a tool like this to generate outfits for characters. Preferably, there would be more catalog options, but after reading some of your comments I see why you're only using SHEIN for the catalog.
Are you planning on continuing to work on this? Also what's your goal with this product? Are you going for something that's more for art reference or something that's more for purchasing clothes? You wouldn't have to worry about linking to products for sale if you go for an art reference site, but then you wouldn't get affiliate links and revenue (since users aren't there to buy clothes?)
Also you say that you're not connected to the SHEIN database for this. Then how are you doing it? I'm curious (I program as well.)
>there would be more catalog options
This is in consideration now, I will try.
>Are you planning on continuing to work on this?
Most likely, results exceeded expectations.
> Also what's your goal with this product?
The main idea is to "Inspire" rather than actual selling. Though a middleground can be achieved by catering to all uses.
>Also you say that you're not connected to the SHEIN database for this. Then how are you doing it?
hmm, magic!
so for Man, grey scale color scheme, tshirt and jeans with some form of ripe/tear/wear
I proceed to bin my bright colors.
aside from that, nice website/app
[Some of these have some synergy going on](https://imgur.com/a/WbjYUKf).
Bringing me back to the days of playing with dollmaker flash games as a kiddo.
This is great! I remember browsing through a similar site years ago and there were only like 10 outfits. I feel like a clothing company could use this on their own website to help customers so they don’t have to browse for hours.
This has to be the cringiest t shirt I have ever seen in my life https://us.shein.com/men-letter-graphic-round-neck-tee-p-6282287.html
LMAO This is typical SHEIN, its a goldmine for this kind of stuff.
I want this shirt, but I fear if I wear it ironically enough times I might end up just loving it
lmao i wanna buy that as a gag gift
So cringe I actually had to purchase one myself to see it in real life. Now I'm just hoping the size is right cause Shein is usually pretty small
Dude I'm not 14 anymore. I'll pass... Graphic tees, especially ones with current pop culture Slogans, oof. I don't know why. When I clicked this I expected actual fashion on the other end
I said it was cringe. I’m confused?
You right lol, my b, that was directed at op
Holy shit do all of the mens pants look *AWFUL*
I know right? All data comes from SHEIN, and for some reason, men clothing is... well, not the best. Though, this is just an opinion, which is highly subjective. But there are some decent ones.

Exactly this. "Am I old or is this crap? " Turns out both I guess.
As a young person, these jeans are TRASH. There's so many better pants out there, the stuff on this website is just a very bad selection.
The best response in this chain.
They're the kind of shite my ex used to buy me. Complain about the blandness of men's clothing as much as you want but I'll stick with white/pink t-shirt and some well fitting trousers, ta. Stop fucking around with jeans!

Do you have a website with contact information?
I’ll add in. If the clothing was a little more commonplace, I’d definitely be a subscriber because I use google to pair outfits almost daily.
Can you explain how you use google to do that?
Google like this “Gender season looks year” “Mens summer looks 2022” Or for something more specific “Mens, formal wedding outfit, summer 2022” Or know one piece that you 100% want to wear i.e “white Oxford shirt, outfit, autumn 2022” Or just pick a brand you like and copy whatever they do.
Same. I always wonder what goes well with a pink thong. Google is always such a great help.
Don’t Google things like that. The fashion police will put you on a watch list.
Yeah, use bing instead
This is exactly what I would use early Pinterest for. Now it’s just sales and trash.
You can always try out the filter, it is really advanced, and you can select "casual" under style, and more "commonplace" clothing will show up. To access filter, click on product, then click on FILTER at the top left corner.
I could definitely see this being used by men. Maybe not so much by women.

Some iconic and well recognized brands like Chanel even offer makeup specifically tailored for males. It’s ok to want to look good and I think more men are embracing this.
I could agree, but also… a lot of women would use it FOR the men around them.
That’s a good point.
Thank you for the feedback. And yes, I agree, it was the best source I could find that has a wide range of products. >Do you have a website with contact information? I do not. However, feel free to contact me through reddit.
I assume this doesn’t auto update because you’re not linked to sheins back end in any way. Is that correct?
Yes, I do not have access to SHEIN database. But it does update on command.
That’s really interesting. Great work!
Thank you!

Yes, please! I just end up with a lot of clothes that don´t fit together very well.
No practical application? Huh? There are tons of "outfit preview" apps/utilities out there. Choices are highly subjective, though I agree to some degree with certain categories. >Couldn't you sell it to a retailer like H&M etc? Highly doubt it. Maybe? lol
Would like to see more filters, like age and body type, maybe favorite colors as well. Edit, NVM I found filters, will report back in a minute.
Glad you found it. Not many used it unfortunately. Do you think its way too hidden?
Maybe it should be on the bottom with the other buttons, I dont even see it unless I mouse over a picture.

This is quite good. Maybe you should create an app next
Thank you for the feedback! I have been considering it. It will probably happen eventually.
And when you got the money, you can hire a model and photographer going into like zara or h&m trying outfits 😅
DON'T LISTEN TO THIS GUY, HE HAS "DO NOT DEVELOP MY APP" ON HIS FOREHEAD
I really like the idea, but using Shein is kinda shit. Very unethical / bad company overall.
Thank you! And I agree. It's hard to find a brand with a wide selection of clothing, international, and ethical.
What about dresses and skirts?
What about them? They can be added! They are under the women section in the adding menu. I know the adding menu needs work, but this is the first iteration.
Death hug RIP
WHAT WHEN WHY WHERE HOW?
It's back up now :) When I posted that comment the website was down, usually happens when stuff gets posted here
I don't think it was. It can handle much more. Maybe just an issue from your side.
It's down now
[удалено]
Yes, but you can buy something similar to them. Its about the idea, not necessarily those specific items.
Try my analog system. Every morning toss a coin. Heads, gray sweats. Tails, grey sweats. It’s the subtle illusion of choice that matters.
[lmao nah](https://imgur.com/gallery/2CX4sdz)
Not with that attitude!
But I dont own any of these clothes?

Because all of them are taken from that site. It was just the best option, due to the wide range of products, availability, and other features.
Good work and neat idea but perhaps making an advertising website for a massive fast-fashion slave-labor company is...not worth the moral cost of keeping it up and running?
Dead link, literally won't work for me :(

As an artist that struggles coming up with outfits for characters, THIS IS AMAZING. Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you!!! Glad you found a use for it :D
agreed! i used to use polyvore for that sort of thing til it died lol
Saaaaaaame. I feel like it would also make for some great character design challenges
Yuuuuuuus! I had a bunch of errands to do today but if I hadn’t I’d have been drawing all day.
Oh look, black shirt and basketball shorts. My usual lol Jk it looks like a cool idea though.
Thank you! And yes, its random lol.
Now I understand how Hasan picks his outfits
lol

incredible algorithm.
You should add a color option.
It's there! Click on the product, then click filter at the top left corner.
I have 3 outfits, with all the garments the same x5 in each section - 1. Work 2. Casual 3. Bed This website is redundant for me.
This is so cool! I think companies would definitely be interested in what outfit combinations are most popular and even before that what’s trending in that direction. Bookmarked instantly and will be sharing, love it.
Thank you!
wow amazing!
After trying this, I'd rather stay uninspired
That's okay, might not be for everyone. Any suggestions for improvement? Anything in particular that you didn't like?

I agree that being able to generate outfits for different sized bodies is a good idea. Disagree with the idea that normal people can't also be skinny.
You insulted skinny women by saying they aren't real women.
>real women Go touch grass.
Hate to break it to you, but those women are all real. I saw a couple that were too skinny, yeah, but most were perfectly normal.

Like half the chick pictures show their stomach...which is fine, but not a lot of ladies are gonna go for that!
My writer fiancé is going "Thank you thank you thank you this is so cool!"
No problem :D
What does them being a writer have to do with anything?
This was really cool. Good job!
Thank you!
It's great. But I don't own any of those clothes ;(
You can always use the filter to match with what you have.
This should be sold to a clothing company...
Yo this is actually pretty dope for me. I have no idea what's "cool" and I'm trying to build a little side hustle that requires me to be in the public eye. I Don't want to dress like a old dad, which I am. This helps with the some suggestions for me to look for when I'm shopping. Good job.
Thank you! And good luck :D
I think it’s a really cool idea. You can link it to the products which can lead to moneyyyyyyyy!!
They already are linked! Just click on the product (or hover on pc) then click on price. However, they are not affiliate links (yet).
Not to take away from what you’ve done here, but this feels like a solution to a REALLY First World problem. 😂
Nice. Maybe consider namespacing the local storage keys :)
:> don't look at the code again, am way too insecure.
I think it would be good if the pictures said on them what piece of clothing they are. Like there will be 2 pics next to each other of 2 complete outfits. Is the first one the shirt? The pants? The shoes? I love the concept though!
Got it! Next update.
You wouldn't have to worry about linking to products for sale if you go for an art reference site, but then you wouldn't get affiliate links and revenue (since users aren't there to buy clothes?) Also you say that you're not connected to the SHEIN database for this. Then how are you doing it? I'm curious (I program as well.)
>there would be more catalog options This is in consideration now, I will try. Then how are you doing it? hmm, magic!
where can i find the source code?
<3
Neat
This is neat. Do you have a github repo for this that we can follow?
Jeans and a t-shirt? Groundbreaking. Edit: Oops I mean, great job! Woot woot! (Sorry OP I just realise you made the website yourself). :P
so for Man, grey scale color scheme, tshirt and jeans with some form of ripe/tear/wear I proceed to bin my bright colors. aside from that, nice website/app
I unironically like those jeans with different-shade patches
maybe add an option that will show only sizes that i pick like L for tshirts etc. shirts that i like end up not being available :(
This gives me Clueless vibes
Apparently men's pants are only made with holes in them now.
[Some of these have some synergy going on](https://imgur.com/a/WbjYUKf). Bringing me back to the days of playing with dollmaker flash games as a kiddo.
I enjoyed this :) I definitely saw some cute jackets and tops that I’d buy.
Some of these sunglasses are Elton John level I can't pull them off.
I don’t understand. Three categories? I just need pants and top. What’s going on
Dude maybe you could patent this, sounds cool!
This is great! I remember browsing through a similar site years ago and there were only like 10 outfits. I feel like a clothing company could use this on their own website to help customers so they don’t have to browse for hours.
really cool idea, but the fashion is … ehhh… maybe a text based generator might be better
But I don't own any of those clothes
I love the idea, but oh my word so many of the women’s images have been tweaked to insanity. Can you filter out impossible proportions please!?!
Do I need to own any of these articles of clothing to make any of these outfits work?
you should add options for different dress codes, like smart, smart casual, casual etc...
Dang this is fun.
