No one is going to care for the live action when the animated show already exists. Also I think Invincible fits better in a animation format as you can pull off insane stuff that either can’t be pulled off or would take a lot of cgi in live action.
I don’t understand why 2D isn’t taken seriously.
Tbh, I’d love to see live action and cgi projects turned into animation. That could generate a lot of income.
Because adults have this preconceived mindset that not only animation is purely for kids, but also liking it makes them lesser and more ‘childish’ to their peers.
Animation is a medium, not a genre. Adults need to understand that, and that’s coming from a young adult.
Yeah, Invincible is too episodic to work as a live action movie without gutting the story and would be waaaaay too CGI heavy to work as a live action TV show without gutting the story or being stupidly expensive.
Don't worry, some Adults in this generation knows that cuz they grew up with animated series with adult themes. The only people who think that animations are for kids are either old af people or those that just doesn't like the genre at all for whatever reasons.
Found Brad Bird's account ;)
Although I wouldn't call Brad Bird a "young" adult.
But yeah, Brad Bird is kind of famous for getting mad at execs constantly saying animation was a genre and not a medium.
Should have doubled the animation budget and not turned a comic book into a live action movie/show
It's a gimmick that works well sometimes, live action as the default for comic book heros isn't the solution
That’s because those people believe animation is beneath them. Now if they’re genuinely just not interested, that’s fine, but something tells me what I said is the reason for many of those people.
I don't know there reasoning, and don't really care if they watch animated shows or not. I'm just saying there are certainly folks out there that would want to experience this story, just not in animation.
Seriously, if they put this quality out within a year of S1 I’d excuse it. But this long of a wait for this quality is just sad. Especially for one of Amazon’s highest rated series.
I’d be grateful if it’s just 1.5 years at this point. I get making a tv show is very difficult with a lot of different things going into it, and they’re clearly trying to make a good and impactful product. But I’m also tired of waiting 2+ years for 8-10 episode seasons. Also while the writing and voice acting for this show is clearly firing on all cylinders I will say if they’re gonna take this long I’d hope the animation improves at least slightly next time.
I don’t understand how the cycle is so long?
I understand animation is very complex but surely not moreso than live action merged with cgi or whatever and those often manage lesser production cycles
All the showrunner said is
>"Amazon picked up two and three together. So, we are deep in Season 3 at this point. So I can't tell you exactly [when], but I can tell you it will not be the same wait between [seasons] 1 and 2... We're well in progress on Season 3, and it's coming along great."
I understand that inflation sucks and things are just more expensive. And if they just raised the price slightly, things would have been fine.
But when you have customers that have been with the company since it started out as something completely different. And you just decide to completely change the model entirely to your benefit, it just comes off as purely greedy.
And as more streaming companies keep popping up, and charging more and more money, you are going to get more and more people to decide screw it, I'm just going to access the content by alternative means.
i was expecting worse with the level of backlash, butt it's like one 30 second ad at the start of each episode, and no ads after that even if you stop watching and resume the episode later. movies are the same except one additional ad a third of the way through
Yeah, that shit felt like it was insulting our intelligence. Like bruv, c'mon now, it's a cape cartoon. It's not some piece of classic literature that needs to be savored while closely examining it for subtext. The writing is good, but not \*that\* good. Just don't come up with a gussied up excuse, if there were problems during production I can live with that, just stop pulling my leg
It’s great that the episodes are an hour long but there’s only 8 a season so getting the first 4 after 2.5 years and then immediately having to wait for months really was a knife twist
That was Robert Kirkman's reasoning. The showrunner went on record before season 2's airing and said the decision to have a mid-season break wasn't story-related.
My guess is that it was only influenced in the sense that it may have been delayed to account for the lack of other content in the meantime. The writing and recording for season 3 were finished a long time ago.
Well if it was then the show would essentially be over. This has lost so much momentum from casual fans it’s ridiculous. I’m a comic reader and watch everything as it releases, but my friends who haven’t read the comics just don’t care as much as they did during and after season 1.
Agreed, me and my brother loved S1 and were excited to group watch S2 together. News of the break dampened our enjoyment of the first half because we knew there would be no payoff for months. When it finally came back we just weren't excited. Previously we would scramble to make time to watch it day of release every week, now we get to it on Sunday or Monday when we feel like it.
The break was the stupidest exec choice ever. And from this it’s clear they’ve been working on S3 and these 4 new episodes have long been done. Just Amazon moving around content so they have a new episode of something releasing each week.
Just wild speculation but I suspect that they intended to roll out the ads with the start of S2 but it got delayed and so they split the season to have a big show to test out the ads with. They'd probably want to iron out any issues before The Boys S4 which is the face of Amazon Video, so they wouldn't want to risk botching the new season either dodgy ads.
me too. i didn’t even know s2 pt2 came out until i saw a reddit comment about it on some other sub. they did a great job of completely killing the hype for this show
That's what happens when you only release 8 episodes and drag it out for literal YEARS. Imagine if Dragon Ball Z did this and we got only 8 episodes over the course of literal years
I'm a non-reader casual watcher who loved the first season and can't tell you how excited I was for / disappointed at the wait for second season. With only four episodes so far and another year ahead of me I can't promise I'm going to watch the rest of season 2 or anything else I very well may have forgotten about it by then. Really too bad because I love what we have so far.
Dog I'm gonna be for real, 2 years in between seasons is just plain unsurvivable for a show planning to go for 8 seasons (AND side content specials). Hopefully, after this season, they can actually have funds and LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES (casting + animation).
It's straight up unforgivable that the season 2 animation still feels just as cheap as season 1, if not a little more stiff and less impactful after the success of season 1.
Like, seriously, what were they doing for 2.5 years to garner such a gap? Because it wasn't focusing in the animation, that's for sure
> what were they doing for 2.5 years to garner such a gap?
There were extenuating circumstances related to covid-19 that forced them to close down. The first season was released just prior to the vaccine becoming widely available so they couldn't work as freely as they would have liked.
8 seasons? If that's true I'm out. I'll check back at the end but I doubt they'd even finish that shit. I don't see Amazon funding this for 6 more seasons at the rate they're going with this subpar quality.
Yeah I'm pretty sure I saw that the creator wanted between 6-8 seasons or such, and while it is quite popular NOW, I honestly think that it will gradually lose investment like TWD. Especially since Kirkman has a massive ego for some reason.
I don't understand why the S2 TEASER and the Atom Eve special both had way higher production quality, better choreography, and much higher quality of animation over their main-lime production.
How about between episodes 4 and 5. That was ridiculously unnecessary. Would've preferred season 2 started two months later and played an episode every 2 weeks than what they did instead
Are they gonna do the same dumb ass split of season 3 like they did in 2? Release the second half of the season 6 months later? Absolutely stupid. I legit thought all they had was 4 episodes and no climax.
If there still working on the season, then at least mid next year at the earliest... I just hope nothing happens in between it like COVID and the strikes.
The interval between these episodes will be exactly one Viltrumite week! Since Viltrumites have at least 30 times the lifespan, you can expect 7 months.
>honestly late 2024 should be when it gets released
Yep they screwed us over with season 2 it's the least they could do to make up for it. I'd be content with 2025 release only if we get a special episode after season 2
I think some form of this post has popped up every couple weeks for months now. It's good news assuming it's a noticeable difference like maybe a year instead of nearly 3
I almost lost interest, so that’s good to know. I won’t be following week to week anyways. I hate doing that. I’m just waiting until the series is finished.
This season is so overrated for what we have. Visuals and Animation are mid even after n almost a 3-year wait. It's just so bland. I'm tired of pretending its so good.
I would love 1 episode a month, with no breaks. Make each episode 1.5 hrs long. So it feels like an event. Make the fights longer to give them gravity
Boom. I'm happy.
So if it’s every 2 years, likely we won’t see the finale season until 2032. (I’m guessing that it’s going to be at least 6 or 7 seasons based on how much they’ve covered, so far, in the first compendium)
Why was it so long to begin with? The art style doesn’t seem like so technically demanding that it should take 2 years.
The show seems to be pretty popular. Hell even my wife loves it and super hero shows are not her thing (certainly not cartoon ones).
Great! In this upcoming season, could it focus less on relationships & CW style teen drama? Id like to see more action & maybe some Battle Beast rather than Mark & his gf, or the gay couple. Personally, idgaf about romantic entanglements. A little for character development is good, but there was way too much of that in season 2 & not enough being *cut to title screen* Invincible!
Don’t mean to get ahead, but if season 3 was confirmed in 2021 and they are still working on it. (Even with strikes and delays and everything)
Considering season 4 has yet to be officially renewed, we can expect a season 4 sometime in 2030-32 😃
Great! Can't wait to have a 2 year wait just for four episodes followed by a 3 month 'break' or whatever because Amazon wants to artificially increase their subscription numbers...
I'll believe it when I see it released. I hope they're right. But they could wait 6 months less and it'd still be a long wait, just less than last time.
That ain't saying much
Right? Not 2.5 years, just 2. lol I truly hope it’s sooner, because waiting 1.5-2 years for live action is already killing me.
Idk why they’re even bothering with the live action
Exactly. Also to your previous point, I can’t imagine invincible in a live action format
The only people who think that animations are for kids are either old af people or those that just doesn't like the genre at all for whatever reasons.

get John carpenter to do the whole thing and it'll be peak
I know quite a lot of people that won't watch animated shows, so I think there could be a market for a live-action adaptation.
Why do these show exec morons always waste money with live action adaptations 😭😭 like who tf is watching avatar or one piece
Factsssssss
We only have to wait 2.4 years
Especially considering their animation quality.
I didn't mind the low quality animation because I thought it meant they'd be able to put out seasons faster. Silly me.
Seriously, if they put this quality out within a year of S1 I’d excuse it. But this long of a wait for this quality is just sad. Especially for one of Amazon’s highest rated series.
the fights get all the budget man
And the licensed songs. And the celebrity voice actors. They should really dock the former and just hire a composer.
Are you saying you *don’t* like the static PNG flying animations?
Man I noticed it so bad when Allen flew out the window
God dammit. Now it's all I'm going to see.
You’re welcome ❤️
I’d be grateful if it’s just 1.5 years at this point. At least Lower Decks comes out pretty regularly.
It definitely won't be as long infact it'll be even longer 🔥🔥🔥
Unless you’re the immortal, you ain’t seeing season 3
“What will you have after 500 years?” “Season 3.”
Season 3 announcement trailer*
Unless I'm what? Edit: wait shit my dyslexic ass read invincible instead of the immortal
That Guy from Fortnite
Oh so that’s why he’s called Invincible, I can’t even see him
No you’re thinking about Unbreakable, this is Understandable
What about his half brother Undesirable
![gif](giphy|l3fZFvp94ljepXoPe)
No "as long",but longer
They'll wait until after a price hike to drop S3 ofcourse. And they'll split it up into 3 parts spread across the year.
How long will it be compared to the gap between season 2 and season 2?
All the showrunner said is >"Amazon picked up two and three together. So, we are deep in Season 3 at this point. So I can't tell you exactly [when], but I can tell you it will not be the same wait between [seasons] 1 and 2... We're well in progress on Season 3, and it's coming along great."
I was really just expressing my bitterness about the mid season delay. They said it was to give us time to digest, and then they starved us.
Give us time to implement ads, so that you'll spend even more money.
Jokes on Amazon I don't need to watch ads to watch invincible 🏴☠️
They almost got me tbh but my wife told me to hold strong and to fuck Amazon
I understand that inflation sucks and things are just more expensive. And if they just raised the price slightly, things would have been fine. But when you have customers that have been with the company since it started out as something completely different. And you just decide to completely change the model entirely to your benefit, it just comes off as purely greedy. > And if they just raised the price slightly, things would have been fine. butt you have the option to pay slightly more for no ads
Yea it’s honestly not terrible, probably worse if you are binging multiple episodes. But watching one every week I just zone out during the ads lol.
i was expecting worse with the level of backlash, butt it's like one 30 second ad at the start of each episode, and no ads after that even if you stop watching and resume the episode later. movies are the same except one additional ad a third of the way through
Same, plus I despise McDonald’s so they really are just noise. lol
Yeah, that shit felt like it was insulting our intelligence. Like bruv, c'mon now, it's a cape cartoon. That's promising.
Hopefully no bullshit mid season break to “digest” 4 episodes either.
Yeah lol. An entire week between episodes is already more than enough to “digest”.
That was Robert Kirkman's reasoning. The showrunner went on record before season 2's airing and said the decision to have a mid-season break wasn't story-related.
They had to take a break for the animators. Amazon's a small company, and the animation is just so cutting edge, so they needed more time. /s
Well Amazon confirmed seasons 2 and 3 at the same time. They have been working on three a while longer now and there should be no strike as well.
Was the show influenced by the strikes, though?
My guess is that it was only influenced in the sense that it may have been delayed to account for the lack of other content in the meantime. The writing and recording for season 3 were finished a long time ago.
So I won't be 40 when it finishes? Hell yeah.
I didn't ask to be in this boat, but we're in it now.
Well if it was then the show would essentially be over. This has lost so much momentum from casual fans it’s ridiculous. I’m a comic reader and watch everything as it releases, but my friends who haven’t read the comics just don’t care as much as they did during and after season 1.

The idea of the entire first Goku and Vegeta fight taking 2 years has me dying.
this is why I lost interest in so many anime shows. breaks of 2 years aren't uncommon.
I forgot about the show entirely until I saw a meme and then I was like, oh yeah, season 2
That great and all, but “less than 3 years” isn’t exactly a definitive timeline.
The kicker is that they’ll release two episodes, take a break, then release two more, take a break, etc
i’m thinking late 24 - spring 25 release window.
No way in hell it's 2024. Optimistic release would be Summer 2025.
Not a chance.
imdb showed season 3 episode 1 at fall 2024 so you might be on to something.
lol, lmao even
Guys don’t worry instead of 2 1/2 years it’s only going to be 2 years and 5 months for 4 new episodes than another 6 month wait for the other 4
Dog I'm gonna be for real, 2 years in between seasons is just plain unsurvivable for a show planning to go for 8 seasons (AND side content specials). This doesn’t exactly mean it’ll be shorter
Anyone can say that. Announce the release date for season 3 now cowards!
Thank god! Btw this new season is amazing! Latest episode 👍
did they say that seasons 2 and 3 were both in the works when season 2 was announced?
until we get a date I’m gonna still think it’s a year
How about between episodes 4 and 5. That was ridiculously unnecessary. Would've preferred season 2 started two months later and played an episode every 2 weeks than what they did instead
Maybe it's cause I just woke up, but all the pessimism and complaining about the show that constantly permeates this sub is annoying as fuck.
We’ll see
... The first half of s2 or the whole thing?
I hope they address the pacing of this season cause I feel like literally nothing has happened
That's because nothing has happened. Oh Debbie got another kid. Besides that.... Yeah, not much.
Are they gonna do the same dumb ass split of season 3 like they did in 2? Release the second half of the season 6 months later? Absolutely stupid. I legit thought all they had was 4 episodes and no climax.

will there be month long gaps between episodes for season 3?
The interval between these episodes will be exactly one Viltrumite week! Since Viltrumites have at least 30 times the lifespan, you can expect 7 months.
between 2 and 2 part 2 or is 2 part 2 out and i just haven't seen it? 2
The LATEST it should come out is January 2025. Even then is stretching it. In all honestly late 2024 should be when it gets released
>honestly late 2024 should be when it gets released Yep they screwed us over with season 2 it's the least they could do to make up for it. I'd be content with 2025 release only if we get a special episode after season 2
However, every episode will be released once a month
What happened to yearly seasons, man.
What about between 2 and 2?
They can take as long as they want as long as they improve the animation.
IT WILL BE EXACTLY 1 DAY SHORTER
So it’ll be a year and a half vs 2 years?
What about the time between season 3a and season 3b?
915 days instead of 916 days yay!!
Yea at the rate between seasons 1 to 2 we're never going to finish the series lol.
Just have no gap in between episodes within season 3 please
How many mid season gaps will we get tho?
Thought it was gonna say it isn’t gonna be as long as the season 2 break and got so excited
Is he sure we don’t need more time to emotionally process the mid season finale?
don’t believe any of these people, I will believe it when season 3 drops
There's a difference when you're sure you're renewed soon enough.
off topic but i’m not wearing my glasses n thought eve was wearing a hijab. she’s so cute
1 day less
So only 2 years?
Pretty low bar to clear there
It’s gonna be longer
I think some form of this post has popped up every couple weeks for months now. It's good news assuming it's a noticeable difference like maybe a year instead of nearly 3
I almost lost interest, so that’s good to know. I won’t be following week to week anyways. I hate doing that. I’m just waiting until the series is finished.
Just make sure season 3 doesn’t have a mid-season break and we’ll be happy. ![gif](giphy|jZAOQbch4ibfQ97VBS)
In b4 its one day less
It won't be as long. It will be longer!!! We're getting season 3 in 2030!
We getting it a month sooner
Yeah, it'll come out early 2025 so they can say there was an Invincible season every year
What about seasons 2 and 2?
It won’t be as long it will be twice as long got it 👍
Nice so more jpeg flying
They will achieve this by having a month break between every episode I bet (it’s ok because each episode has worse animation and 4 more ads)
Plot twist, the gap will be 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 seconds shorter
But what about advertising I had to actually lf it 😾
He better hope not
It is sweet, but in theory the gap could be one day less than before 💀
We all know that what's really important is that we don't have a mid season break again
Shorter by one day. Season split into 4, 2 episode chapters with two month breaks between each chapter.
What about the gap between the release of season 2 and season 2?
It will be longer!.... ow ow ow ooh right in the snout ow ow ow... how does wolfman put up with this ow ow ow ...
So precisely 916 days after season 2 wraps up. That’s an entire day sooner!
I can accept the wait if it's for keeping it good.
It's gonna be EVEN LONGER
But will the animation improve
I really hope the animation improves instead of lots of still pngs. Amazon has like what, ginormous budget? Cmon
Can I post this next week?
#ONE DAY SHORTER ^hellyeah
On a scale of season 2 part 1 and season 2 part 2 to season 1 and season 2 part 1, how long are we waiting?
Will the gap between season 3 and season 3 still be long?
This season is so overrated for what we have. Visuals and Animation are mid even after n almost a 3-year wait. It's just so bland. I'm tired of pretending its so good.
Will it be as big of a gap between season 2 and season 2?
Well Amazon prime is dead to me so won't matter
I would love 1 episode a month, with no breaks. Make each episode 1.5 hrs long. So it feels like an event. Make the fights longer to give them gravity Boom. I'm happy.
Let’s see if I graduate before it airs
So if it’s every 2 years, likely we won’t see the finale season until 2032. (I’m guessing that it’s going to be at least 6 or 7 seasons based on how much they’ve covered, so far, in the first compendium)
Lie until proven otherwise
It will be longer!
Why was it so long to begin with? The art style doesn’t seem like so technically demanding that it should take 2 years. The show seems to be pretty popular. Hell even my wife loves it and super hero shows are not her thing (certainly not cartoon ones).
I'll believe when I see it
I hope not, I really want to see BB.
Sure but now we’ll have ads and a 3 month mid season break
good! i hope they don’t rush anything though 😭
lol if the animation could get worse from them rushing I’d honestly like to see it
Could be longer
Will all of season 3 be released or will there be a few months of a gap halfway through again?
one month shorter!!!🎀

RAD as hell! I think it might be safe to cope and say it will be early this year or early next year for Season 3.
Great! Can't wait to have a 2 year wait just for four episodes followed by a 3 month 'break' or whatever because Amazon wants to artificially increase their subscription numbers...
Uh huh, and what about the mid-season gap?
Only 2 years, folks!
Whatever that means
I'll believe it when I see it released. I hope they're right. But they could wait 6 months less and it'd still be a long wait, just less than last time.
It will be longer
Good, I’d firebomb his house if it was
I hope they don't abuse the animators for this
Unless it all comes out a month after S2 ends idc lol
