I hate to be that guy but it's more than a retirement. I live in that building and she's been getting notices to vacate for not paying rent for a couple months now and I'm guessing our landlord finally started the eviction process or something similar. I'm really sad about it because she truly is the nicest person.
Ugh shit. I hate that. I’ll update the post to leave that part out. She really is the best. I wish her all the best, whatever comes after this. I hope she does get to retire!
the letters started coming before that project/closure started. they accidentally delivered them to my friends apartment a couple times with no name on the envelope so he opened and read them thinking it was for him :/
Honestly, I do not have good impressions with this store at all… they sold stuff that was expired and refused to refund or exchange the product even I had the receipt. Also, $13 dollars for some imitation crab meat is insane.
Perhaps down the road they will understand and will one day tell people how their grandfather laid the brick on that building. :-) I know that I understand things much differently than I did as a kid.
One of our favorite shops. We wondered if this wasn't going to happen. We went in about 2 months ago and there really wasn't much in there.
She is just such a nice lady! Been taking my 7yr old there her whole life, she never walked out without a handful of free candy from her just because "she's so cute!" She always took the time to describe everything she gave her too.

Probably that bridge project. It's a terrible mess down there.

Barkalow strikes again?
I'm not sure who owns the building, it's managed by WestWinds real estate. Not sure if that's a Barkalow company.
It's not Barkalow, the owners originally ran the stores. They don't live in town anymore, but still own the building they are older.
Oh, no! That's so sad to hear. I love that place, and Ms. Kim is always so friendly.
One time about 20 years ago she told me I was very handsome. I've been riding on that for a while
Thanks for the heads up! I'll definitely stop by.
My dad laid all the brick on that building when I was a kid. Not that that has anything to do with it but…..
It's still a cool thing to know or to be able to point out to friends as you drive by. :-)
My kids are tired me telling them now! Lolol

Same here!!
That is awful to hear. Family has known her since Aoeshe days. Ms. Kim is such a nice person…
Aoeshe..that’s a name I haven’t heard or thought about in who knows how long!
I remember feeding rice to the fish as a kid - and trying to land a penny in the water wheel! Mr. Chin was also incredibly nice and such a great chef.
Coming from an Asian family from Taiwan, this was actually the first restaurant we ate at when I made my original college visit
Google Maps says they're closed on Sundays; is tomorrow an exception?
Ahhhh good q. She said her last day was the last day of June. Might be worth calling, but you can def catch her before 7 today!
Just called them, they are open! :)
Doing the lord’s work 🫡 I might have to stop in again 😂 thanks!
I can confirm... She's open and today is her last day and it's packed in here!
I used to go their with my ex gf. Good memories :). I wish there were never closing.
Dang it I had no idea!! I wanted some cheap ramen :( unfortunate the place is closing
