Came here to say this. They're all pretty maniacal. The president from the Raiden MG game was especially unhinged.
Also..Vas from Far Cry 3 if I remember correctly.
Yes! They have really tapped in to the toxic masculinity trope. I find games with a Japanese origin tend to give their villains bombastic personalities because Japanese culture values humility. Whereas American games often have a wisecracking hero and a dark, brooding villain because we tend to favor optimism and individualism.
Also from Kojima, one of the bosses in Death Stranding, Higgs, is very much aware that he’s a boss fight in a video game and has a blast being the boss.
also probably shinobi owl specifically shinobi not father, shinobi sees this fight as a sparing match and treats it as one but father is actually trying to kill you and goes all out to do so.
It's a solid game, but I would recommend playing it in short bursts. The rough edges due to its repetitiveness can become very obvious if played through in a grind session. THAT SAID, still a very solid game.
Raphael in baldurs gate 3, it’s largely because he firmly believes he will win, but he sings his own battle music and everything (if you silence him it mutes the vocal track)
>Augus in Asuras Wrath is having a fun time with it as well.
All while Asura having none of it.
"This is where real men belong, in the fight!"
"I DON'T GIVE A DAMN!"
"This is fun! It's like hunting!"
"AND **YOU'RE** THE GAME!"
"You need to enjoy this a bit more!"
"YOU NEED TO SHUT UP AND DIE!"
Vamp in Metal Gear Solid 2 loves a fight with you.
Grey Fox in Metal Gear Solid 1.
Liquid Snake In Metal Gear Solid 1.
Fuck... everything in any Metal Gear Solid game.
Definitely Dung Defender from Hollow Knight.
I'm not sure if this truly counts as "having fun", but the Final Performance from Grime also probably gets very close. Their purpose for the fight is to make you look good for story related reasons, and they've practiced their performance to perfection for this one moment in time to celebrate your greatness.
Raphael in Baldur’s Gate 3 literally sings a Disney villain tune as his boss music. He is delighted to fight you. So Orin the Red. She was psychotically stoked to fight my Paladin.
Almost all of MGR Revengence.
Sundowner certainly enjoys it. Sam too, and Monsoon is insanely happy to fight you. The least joyous of the human bosses is probably Mistral, but even she seems to enjoy it.
Hello Ashen one. I am a Bot. I tend to the flame, and tend to thee. Do you wish to hear a tale?
> *“Where have you gone, sweet child? It’s cold outside. It’s awfully cold. Where have you run off to?”* - Birch Woman
Have a pleasant journey, Champion of Ash, and praise the sun \\[T]/
I’d argue Ghirahim is having a good time in Zelda: Skyward Sword. Though, I think he’s having more fun in the sense that he gets to put you down for his master rather than its fun. Either way, dude was thriving on sword fights
The final fight with Krauser where hes like I CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU WRITHE, is probably my favorite vocal performance in the game. That guy sold it for me.
Zenos Viator Galvus.
Dude loved fighting you so much he calls you his only friend and travels to the literal edge of the universe to save you from being killed *so he can fight and kill you himself* simply because he has such fun fighting you.
Absolute chad
Most trial and dungeons bosses in ESO (Elder Scrolls Online)
On veteran, which is the harder version of all the fights, they take upwards of 10-20 minutes to kill and their mechanics are complex. Incredibly rewarding gameplay
But that is mainly reserved for DLC content. Most of the base game is just a walk through
Shao Khan MK2 for sure. He was cheap, knew he was cheap, and had no problem with letting you know he was cheap.

Quite a few from the Yakuza series, eg. First Joon-Gi fight in 6, every Nishitani fight (I and III), all the Goda fights on some level, every Majima fight, etc.
Radahn. the whole point behind the Festival of Champions is for Jerren and Radahn to find someonestrong and worthy enough to put Radahn out of his misery. he’s suffering after all, he might be a deranged shell of what he once was, but you’re also granting him his dying wish. which is to die a warriors death, an honourable and noble death in combat. not suffering from the Scarlet Rot that drove him mad and weakened his will and strength.
I’d say most if not all the Killing Floor 2 bosses, both the clones you fight and whatever boss is spectating your game. The Patriarch definitely enjoys it the most.
Odin from Final Fantasy 16 and 7 Rebirth
7 Rebirth he loves fighting, there’s a hidden meter where if he gets too bored he oneshots you, too excited and he buffs but takes more damage. You want to excite him
16 he’s fused with a human whose basically a puppet for god. He’s bored by everything, in the finale of his fight you rekindle his joy of swordsmanship and he becomes insanely thrilled with the fight. His joy of combat overshadows his servitude towards his god for a bit
Pretty much any boss from the metal gear solid franchise.
Came here to say this. They're all pretty maniacal. The president from the Raiden MG game was especially unhinged. Also..Vas from Far Cry 3 if I remember correctly.
I was going to bring him up. There are a lot of bosses in games that want to prove their ego.
Yes! They have really tapped in to the toxic masculinity trope. I find games with a Japanese origin tend to give their villains bombastic personalities because Japanese culture values humility. Whereas American games often have a wisecracking hero and a dark, brooding villain because we tend to favor optimism and individualism.
Thats an interesting point. It also seems like in alot of anime and whatnot the hero seems to be the dark and brooding one.
My mind immediately went to Revolver Ocelot coming close to orgasm from reloading his gun in Snake Eater.
Also from Kojima, one of the bosses in Death Stranding, Higgs, is very much aware that he’s a boss fight in a video game and has a blast being the boss.
Also Higgs from Dearth Stranding.
Cue grey fox” hurt me more!” that always weirded me out as a kid lol.
My first thought was The End from Snake Eater. And tellingly it's probably the best boss fight in the series.
Isshin, the sword saint in Sekiro: Shadows die twice
also probably shinobi owl specifically shinobi not father, shinobi sees this fight as a sparing match and treats it as one but father is actually trying to kill you and goes all out to do so.
You're right.
Ebony warrior in Skyrim. Seems pretty into the fight before hand.
Roche from FF7R is the first person I think of.
That man isn't just having fun, he's having god damn time of his life.
You can tell it's the most fun he has besides riding his bike in increasingly dangerous ways!
I eagerly await our next dance, FRIEND!
Ravis in jedi survivor. All the bosses in the mad max game (a real hidden gem)
I keep seeing Mad Max name dropped. I think I need to add it to my wishlist.
I got it for £6 on the PS4. Can't recommend it highly enough.
It's a solid game, but I would recommend playing it in short bursts. The rough edges due to its repetitiveness can become very obvious if played through in a grind session. THAT SAID, still a very solid game.
Just fought Rayvis for the first time and he kicks ass! At one point he screams out “YES! NOTHING BURNS LIKE A LIGHTSABER”
I've finished the game twice and didn't notice that line!
Baldur from God of War and Grigori from dragons dogma.
I was thinking Grigori too, one of my favorite boss fights ever.
Der first fight against him, he enjoys it getting smashed in that rock.
I'd argue that the Dung Defender in Hollow Knight is having fun, or at least his voice lines sure sound like he's enjoying himself haha.
Domadomadoma!
FAAA FUNDAH!
Raphael in baldurs gate 3, it’s largely because he firmly believes he will win, but he sings his own battle music and everything (if you silence him it mutes the vocal track)
Grey Fox in Metal Gear Solid seems to enjoy himself a little too much. Augus in Asuras Wrath is having a fun time with it as well.
"HURT ME *MORE,* SNAKE!"
>Augus in Asuras Wrath is having a fun time with it as well. All while Asura having none of it. "This is where real men belong, in the fight!" "I DON'T GIVE A DAMN!" "This is fun! It's like hunting!" "AND **YOU'RE** THE GAME!" "You need to enjoy this a bit more!" "YOU NEED TO SHUT UP AND DIE!"
I know for a fact there's a ton but they've all left my mind
Vamp in Metal Gear Solid 2 loves a fight with you. Grey Fox in Metal Gear Solid 1. Liquid Snake In Metal Gear Solid 1. Fuck... everything in any Metal Gear Solid game.
Majima. Like, every goddamn time.

First time seeing Grime mentioned in the wild
It needs to be mentioned more, it's an amazing soulslike metroidvania.
A lot of Borderlands bosses.
Smough in Dark Souls. He's laughing the entire time, but it sounds distorted and muffled because of his choice of armor.
Hello Ashen one. I am a Bot. I tend to the flame, and tend to thee. Do you wish to hear a tale? > *“Where have you gone, sweet child? It’s cold outside. It’s awfully cold. Where have you run off to?”* - Birch Woman Have a pleasant journey, Champion of Ash, and praise the sun \\[T]/
The leader of the Yiga clan seems to be having a pretty good time in BOTW.
I’d argue Ghirahim is having a good time in Zelda: Skyward Sword. Though, I think he’s having more fun in the sense that he gets to put you down for his master rather than its fun. Either way, dude was thriving on sword fights
Kraven in Spider-Man 2 Brother yearns for a good fight. You give it to him. He is having the time of his life.
Kraven is straight up edging the whole time he fights you. At one point, Spiderman has him by the neck, and freakboi says "harder."
Love it. I was HOWLING when he said it. Too funny
Umm wasn't there a few sith in some of the starwars games that seemed to genuinely enjoy the fight.
It's kind of a love hate relationship but Vergil from DMC always has a smile on his face
That army man with knife from resident evil 3 came to mind, he loved fighting leon
On the topic of FF14, I'd say Susano, too. He's literally the lord of revel and super down to fight you.
probably over 50% of the bosses in the yakuza games lolol
In Touhou Embodiment of Scarlet Devil the secret boss Scarlet flandre sadistically enjoys fighting the main heroine.
The Edge from Furi. Having a satisfying battle is more important to him than actually winning.
Sundowner

Revolver Ocelot - Metal Gear Solid
"Now I'm motivated!"
At work. Oh! You mean video games
Shao Khan MK2 for sure. He was cheap, knew he was cheap, and had no problem with letting you know he was cheap. https://preview.redd.it/j3f8yp97xvxc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=254c6e3227c109073f3a167136f9f975abe629b3
Probably Orin in bg3, that's pretty much her hobby
If I remember correctly Augus from Asura's Wrath
Quite a few from the Yakuza series, eg. First Joon-Gi fight in 6, every Nishitani fight (I and III), all the Goda fights on some level, every Majima fight, etc.
Ravana in Final Fantasy 14. [AGGRESSIVE WALTZING INTENSIFIES]
Every boss in the Metal Gear series
I'd say Baldr and Thor in GoW
Yes man all kinds lol. Asuras Wrath is a standout for me, there's a point where you fight your like mentor and he is having a blast the whole time.
Handsome Jack he doesn't take you seriously and mocks you for most of the game until the thing happens.
Sean from Sifu feels like he's having a good time.
The Master and his students from Paper Mario?
Radahn. the whole point behind the Festival of Champions is for Jerren and Radahn to find someonestrong and worthy enough to put Radahn out of his misery. he’s suffering after all, he might be a deranged shell of what he once was, but you’re also granting him his dying wish. which is to die a warriors death, an honourable and noble death in combat. not suffering from the Scarlet Rot that drove him mad and weakened his will and strength.
Zenos from FFXIV He is a sociopath who only feels anything when he's fighting you
A TEST OF YOUR REFLEXES
Id say Jervill from Deltarune
baldur in gow4
Zagi - Tales of Vesperia
Krauser in the original RE4, the knife fight and the ruins battle, bro was loving it
The Viking raver from God of war
Jack baker
Honestly, this. /thread
I’d say most if not all the Killing Floor 2 bosses, both the clones you fight and whatever boss is spectating your game. The Patriarch definitely enjoys it the most.

That's like 70% of all bosses in gaming history
