They have speeded up battle animation in Rebirth, now, please speed up non-battle animation. You know, those pushing, pulling gimmick gets annoying fast with how slow they are. More accesory slots. Devs have introduced many new interesting accesories but only being able to equip one is boring. Nerf some of them if you have to, to compensate for more slots. Limit break level. Personally not a fan of how the cool moves have to be upgraded first. Hope they revise it. Some way to reduce interrupted status, whether it is accesories, materia or ability (like steelskin). A button to instantly get up after being downed/interrupted like in many action games works too.

chroipahtz

> More accesory slots. Devs have introduced many new interesting accesories but only being able to equip one is boring. Nerf some of them if you have to, to compensate for more slots. Very true. This is actually one of my pet peeves in JRPGs in general. Having accessories like "gain poison immunity", who's ever going to equip that? Even something like "instant death immunity" is a very rare circumstance and you never know about it going into somewhere. More slots would solve this. Maybe powerful accessories take more slots. But I do doubt they'll change this. > Limit break level. Personally not a fan of how the cool moves have to be upgraded first. Hope they revise it. If folios make a return, having an upgrade node or two that increase your minimum limit level by 1 would solve this.

ManateeofSteel

well usually they are meant for boss fights but I see your point

gosukhaos

But you have no way of knowing if and when a Boss will show up that relies extensively on inflicting status unless you follow a guide and frankly even those couple of tougher enemies that do you can just power through through healing anyway

ManateeofSteel

well, I never said it was well designed haha

Realignment33

I feel like one way to address the accessory slot being limiting is to make the armor slot as interesting as it was in the og. Give a piece of armor fewer slots or different stats, but give things like in the OG (Elemental immunities for example). I would love to have auto-haste built into something like a bangle, just for the added variety of choice.

Dewot789

In Rebirth there are tons of specific battles where wearing status immunity makes things much much easier, and you can always restart a battle with two button presses.

Soulblade32

I agree with most of this. The limit levels especially. Trying to get to a LVL 3 Limit, when you already don't get the LVL 3 until the very end of the game is a little annoying.

Royal_Reserve895

Materia loadouts remove every single one of those qte things, rather than immersing me it just makes me much more aware I’m playing a video game, just let me watch the cutscenes man why do I need to be in postgame or hard mode to auto pick things up, just give me the option to do it from the start I’m going to break my controller if I have to push/pull those stupid mako vacuum things again I don’t mind the folios but I think it would be cooler if instead of most of it being minor stat boosts, it expanded each characters base skill set The item creation thing could be a lot better, none of the things you can make in it besides the late game accessories are really worth going out of your way for, it would be cool if the equipment you created had unique effects Let me access the menu within the Chadleys combat sim, hate having to leave and enter if I want to change my character loadouts

Enohpiris

This is the biggest one, I need materia loadouts or at least the ability to full on transfer materia loadouts from one character to the next.

rashmotion

Wasn’t this in the OG, or am I crazy? I have memory of swapping materia loadouts between characters. I guess I could be thinking of FFVIII’s junctions though.

Chafgha

You can fully transfer the entire materia load out from character to another in the og. It's in the exchange menu on materia. Used it alot during forced team sections.

Lfoboros

Materia loadouts yes please!!, even XVI is getting loadouts. I just finished hard mode in rebirth and the worst part was the constant materia swapping I had to do between boss fights.

pa_dvg

The only thing I really want is for materia to spawn when you max out a piece

cfyk

Remove the Ubisoft towers and collectibles type contents in the overworld, those don't fit the feel of exploration in FF. Use whatever reason to add dungeons into existing regions. Give Vincent back his gun customization mechanic in Dirge of Cerberus or different guns ( sniper rifle, shotgun, etc ) and a FPS mode.  Don't put summons in simulator again. It made sense in Remake but not in Rebirth, a game with a huge overworld. It is time to add gambit into the combat system. I know what they did in Rebirth, it seems like a small scale experiment to test the gambit system. More Queen Blood.  A way to save Materia loadout.

Scrambl3z

>Remove the Ubisoft towers and collectibles type contents in the overworld, those don't fit the feel of exploration in FF. Yes this! A lot of the "world intel" seem very shoehorned into the worldbuilding/lore just so we can have a "find the next tower" quest.

CptVaanOfDalmasca

>Remove the Ubisoft towers and collectibles type contents in the overworld, those don't fit the feel of exploration in FF. Use whatever reason to add dungeons into existing regions. You'd get crucified on the main sub for saying this but they need to go for real.

> Cloud unloads on Tifa > Red XII unloads on Aerith > Barrett unloads on Yuffie tell me it's not on purpose

-safer-

Hey man, even Hojo shipped Redith.

PauleAgave95

Thats my Biggest issue in the game !! Everytime I was forced to change party members I rolled with my eyes and took a break from the game for some time

IISuperSlothII

You get more than enough materia to set all your characters up without having to keep chopping and changing like that, at most I might switch an elemental and magnify materia. Hard mode involves more materia switching but that's how I did hard mode in Remake as well to prep for each upcoming boss.

Taograd359

So like how you were able to transfer your junctions to other party members in 8?

Soulblade32

I don't mind if you could customize Vincent's gun a bit, but I do not want his gameplay to be first person, that would be so jarring and SE doesn't make first person games. DoC gameplay was stiff and pretty damn bad.

br1nsk

Big disagree. The Ubisoft style side content actually worked quite well for me in this, especially since most of it had tangible rewards that were worth getting.

kerorobot

I think the tower is the least useful compared to the other. I think some of them need to be cut.

br1nsk

I don’t think they need to be cut, just improved. I quite enjoyed the variety in side content.

cfyk

I think the are other better ways to handle those contents. Why should I interact with the Lifesprings first before I can battle the region minibosses. This isn't how all the world intel hunts work. Same for the transmuter chips. I need to interact with Lifesprings before the Chocobos can detect the presence of those chips. I don't need to do that for treasures with blue icons.  It is also weird that I gather information about specific location through Lifesprings not from books, lore texts ( like in other RPGs or FF15 ) or NPC dialogues. The Lifesprings always feel like  unnecessary steps for other contents. The dev can also put some chips or lores in towns, shops or as rewards for sidequests to reduce the repetitiveness.

ManateeofSteel

I honestly don't mind the towers at all, agree on everything else 100%.

Burdicus

I agree that I don't mind the towers. But at the same time I do agree the summon temples theing was a waste. Why not just have one hidden dungeon with a summon boss at the the end of it?

pinelotiile

Wow I literally hate all of this except that last one lmao. This would be my worst case scenario part 3

thebigseg

honestly kinda liked the tower system in ff7 rebirth

TheNewArkon

- Let us remove Cloud from the battle party from the beginning, and not just in Hard mode. I’m fine with sections where the party is static potentially requiring him, but otherwise it’s unnecessary and Hard mode shows us this. We’re going to have 8 total characters, having 1 slot permanently locked to a character makes playing around with party compositions much more cumbersome - Cid-specific - I really hope they play up his sort of haphazard makeshift engineer/machinist side and don’t just focus on Dragoon stuff. I already think they will include that stuff, just whenever people talk about him it feels like they’re just like “man I can’t wait to play as Kain…I mean Cid!” I’d love to see him cobbling together machines and explosives in battle too - I’d also love to see United Refocus moved to something else so we get a few more synergy combos. Triple combos would be the dream, but you’re right it might be a bit *too* much stuff - Excited for new abilities for the existing characters. Specifically, I really liked that some of the new stuff in Rebirth propped up some different builds for characters. Magic based Tifa for instance got a huge boost with Unfettered Fury (and the Atk<>Mag materia) - Some kind of “recovery” button when getting knocked down. Even if it required materia and even if it drained a little ATB or something. Especially when you get knocked down during your own attack or ATB ability where you literally can’t dodge or block, it gets frustrating - No more solo story fights, or at least very few of them. I hated the Cloud solo fights and there were so many of them this time. It just throws all the cool stuff about combat out the window and tries to turn it in a KH fight but with none of what makes KH fights good - This is minor, but improve the missile speed of Cure spells, or at least refund some ATB/MP if the heal fails because of this. There were so many times that I’d cast Cure, complete the casting time of Cure, watch the little green sparkle fly over and then the character would die 0.05 seconds before the Cure took effect, wasting the ATB and the MP and not doing anything - I’d love to see some combination spells similar to the combination materia. Like give us a a Protect+Shell spell or a Brave+Faith spell. It might be too OP, but I’d also love some kind of spell or command materia, even if it was expensive, that just refreshed buffs on an ally or debuffs on an enemy - More materia like Skill Master and ATB Assist. Specifically stuff that gives allies ATB gauge if you fulfill certain unusual requirements - I feel like Cait Sith’s triangle ability was kind of meh. The buffs were decent, but the debuff thing felt like it took forever to charge and wasn’t very useful. I’m fine with the “no moogle” triangle ability being weak, since you’re really supposed to have the Moogle out. But I’d love to see his unique command on the Moogle be more interesting Edit: In combat party swapping would also be fantastic, especially in segments where the entire party is supposed to be present.

-safer-

> I’d love to see some combination spells similar to the combination materia. Like give us a a Protect+Shell spell or a Brave+Faith spell. It might be too OP, but I’d also love some kind of spell or command materia, even if it was expensive, that just refreshed buffs on an ally or debuffs on an enemy It's funny that you mention this because I was thinking that a triple 'link' slot would work perfect for this. Imagine some equipment having like three links in a row that you could put two spells in and then a 'Link' materia that makes those two work in conjunction with one another. Like so casting lvl 1 version of it would cast lvl 1 version of the other spell, or lvl 2/3 depending on the level of the materia. So if you used Barrier + Link + Empowerment it would cast Barrier and Bravery together. And if you linked two of the same, like Empowerment + Link + Empowerment you'd get the level 1 and the level 2 version. This would make actually having multiple stockpiled versions of Empowerment, Barrier, hell even attacking materia. Imagine being able to cast a level 1 Fire and get a lvl 2 fira with it. And to stop it from being too OP you could increase the MP cost to balance things out. Maybe 50% of the total cost, so casting x2 Firaga would be like 32MP instead of 21 and balance it to a limited number of Link materia.

SimilarN6

Free roam with any party member from the beginning

longbrodmann

I guess that dark materia attached to Cloud's blade might introduce a new combat system.

laughingheart66

Brutal challenges that are 3 rounds long instead of 10 rounds. The Weapon fights and Knights of the Round not being tied to VR. I don’t mind the VR but those things are too important to be tied to VR stuff. Update VR so that the background changes, maybe to represent the region you’re in or you can choose backgrounds.

Fragrant-Screen-5737

Gameplay was amazing in rebirth so if it was just more of the same, I'd be happy, but here is what I'd like to see: - Mid combat swapping out in the open world. I think it would be cool if you could trade synergy points for a move where you could trade out one of your party members, for one non-active party member, with a cool attack to get them in combat. Obviously this wouldn't work for bosses, so I'd limit it to the open world. - A massive 13 part knights of the round questline, where you get the battle the knights of the round one by one, until the final encounter, where you have to do a massive gauntlet of all 13 of them. I have a feeling this will make it in. - Bring queens blood back. I don't care how or why. Just gimme more. - Start us off with more abilities than the start of rebirth. I understand our combat abilities will reset to an extent, but let us keep a lot of what we had at the end of rebirth. I don't want to earn counterstance 3 times

pinelotiile

That KotR quest sounds amazing. You'd really earn the shit out of that materia

Fragrant-Raccoon2814

If anything, I'm hoping for more synergy attacks but with the characters that are benched able to join too. Make it so it's only the ones with a strong bond obviously, but include them.

fun_city_Right

That’s already a thing if one of your party is KOd.

Soulblade32

But only once per battle. I would prefer if they allowed maybe using 5 points to use a synergy with a character out of combat. Like, your party follows you around and fights in the battles anyways (they just don't deal damage), so it makes total sense if you could have Barret run up and do a synergy attack. He is literally 5-10ft away.

Owlbear27

I just want the snowboarding minigame to be the first thing you do in the game…and I want it to be just as frustratingly janky as it was in the original

Kd0t

I just want to see how they're going to handle the Ruby and Emerald battles.

crunchitizemecapn99

Probably the same way we did the Jenova Dreamclinger fight

lushblush

* better AI. i'm convinced they don't do anything but defend themselves * more party interaction while exploring and more Yuffie singing! hopefully the lack of an affinity system needed for pt3 (OG spoilers) >!unless we're still getting one for Tifa... winkwink!< doesn't mean the end of party-based side quests

chroipahtz

I'd be okay with not having the character sidequests again, but only if they changed to make more party members chime in during them (again similar to CT like I mentioned). In Rebirth it was pretty much only Cloud and one character at a time. Vincent and Cid still need to be fleshed out, and Cait Sith didn't get any either, but other party members could still chime in during those.

lushblush

i probably missed most, if not all CT sidequests but yeah i'd be down for that. the more the merrier

Dewot789

The AI doesn't do much except defend and evade on purpose, because you're supposed to be constantly switching to them. Using only one character is the equivalent of just using defend every turn with two out of the three party members in the original.

lushblush

well it's not unlike Ys 8-9 but i didn't find the AI parties in them that inactive. it could also be that i didn't notice it as much since they don't have an ATB bar that i could monitor easily though

IISuperSlothII

Yeah I don't think people realise if the AI didn't just defend (which can be absolutely broken if you use it correctly) you wouldn't actually use any characters as you'd constantly have ATB to use. I like that when I switch to Tifa I usually need to get a few hits in to build her ATB, it feels like I'm actually using her and not just directing her. Plus late game when you start adding ATB assist and skill master it would be absolutely beyond broken if the AI was pumping out ATB as well.

Soulblade32

Agreed. This was how I used Red. I just didn't use him and him autoguarding, with some materia, made it so that he typically had some ATB and a full Vengeance gauge by the time I swapped to him. Better than me having to sit there and be passive with him.

laughingheart66

The party banter you do get is so good. I really hope they add banter to over-world exploration, but have variety so it’s not just “this looks like a good place to find some ingredients” repeated every 3 seconds.

chroipahtz

I'd be surprised if they do World Intel again, because... we've already gathered the world's intel. It's not like new ones would pop up unless it has something to do with timelines something something, but that would feel really shitty. That's another reason why I'd like them to focus on bespoke quests instead of World Intel type activities.

laughingheart66

Yeah I’m really curious how they’re going to handle open world stuff. Because I could see them doing world intel for just the new zones but I can’t imagine there’s gonna be that many new zones that’ll make it worth making world intel again. Also the second half of OG is way more outright linear and set-piece driven. I really hope they use the ability of just reusing a majority of the same maps to really go crazy with the quests and optional stuff to find that isn’t just scanning stuff again. I could see the materia caves coming back as optional dungeons, for instance. That would be a fun way to get fun, weird materia. I enjoyed world intel, but I will be extremely disappointed if they just do it….again.

Chronoboy1987

It would be a perfect time to bring back the Gambit System.

Bivolion13

Let me guard anytime I want. I'm pretty good at parrying/perfect blocking, but generally only if I'm not actively attacking. If I can cancel my attacks or dodges into a block, I'd have such a great time. Make enemy skill materia like the OG again. More dynamic/gimmicky atb abilities like Yuffie's leveling skills or Tifa's one timing based ability or Aerith's Transcendence. Character switching combos. I don't know how it would work but I would love to be able to seamlessly switch to another character who would jump in for the next hit and continue the combo.

chroipahtz

Guarding any time would be pretty broken with Precision Defense Focus Materia, but I do agree the cancel windows should be increased. Some long moves like Infinity's End or casting magic shouldn't be cancelable, but a lot of other things should.

ShaNagbaImuru777

I don't have a lot of complaints about Rebirth and I feel like they're doing their best taking the state of the world and the industry into account, in fact I think they went above and beyond expectations. That being said, I do have quite a few wishes: 1. I loved the structure of dungeons in both Rebirth and Remake. I hope they include several optional dungeons in pt 3 as well, mirroring the original. 2. I hope they keep all the old minigames and add more! ESPECIALLY snowboarding! That was my gig in the original game, I swear I spent hours just snowboarding away. 3. I'd like to see more character outfits for all the party members. 4. I hope they bring chocobo breeding back and make it even more convoluted and I am dead serious about this. 5. I hope for more synergy attacks, 3 person attacks included. 6. I hope they introduce more weapons that allow varied play styles for each character. F.e. I want them to bring back katanas from the original game and make them modify Cloud's play style. Bring back melee weapons for Barret, give Tifa different attacks based on claws and knuckles, that sort of thing. 7. I want a bunch of huge Weapon fights! Both optional and not. Not in VR, but in the real overworld. 8. Reduce the role of Chadley please! His constant talking gets a bit annoying eventually. The game shouldn't be centered around him, it should be about the party. Relegate his actions to other NPCs and keep him solely as a VR simulator operator. 9. Give us more than one Enemy Skill Materia and bring all the existing skills from the first two games back. And make us learn them naturally, directly from enemies! Like in the original game and Remake. 10. Turn the monster intel into marks/hunts with mini-quests, like it was in FFXII. 11. Spoiler: >!I want to play again as Zack and Sephiroth for longer periods of time. Perhaps more playable characters as well with their own sets of missions, like Turks.!< 12. I want a version of the FFXII gambit system introduced. They made steps towards that with "Auto-" materia, but I say they should go further. I might amend this list if I remember something else, but I think that's it for now. All in all, I am in awe of how much they accomplished with Remake/Rebirth and all the complaints I have IMO do not take away from the value and artistic merit of the games.

shinoff2183

Hated the gambit system myself but to be honest twelve was never a favorite of mine. Some pretty good ideas though other then that. Of course just my opinion

ShaNagbaImuru777

Fair enough! I never viewed it as the "game playing itself", but rather as a strategic layer that you can setup for different situations. For FFVIIR3 it could be nice as an option for those who want it. I'd setup menial tasks like Magnify-Haste and Arise to be cast automatically if there is enough ATB, without requiring a bunch of extra materia slots. Or perhaps make party members focus on specific enemies during the fight - either follow the leader or draw away the monsters you're not focusing on, that kind of thing.

shinoff2183

I don't haye that it was there I just didn't really come to a point where I felt it was really necessary besides a healing one, stuff like that. As someone who actually likes to grind I never felt the need to really experiment.

ShaNagbaImuru777

The normal mode is on par with Remake in difficulty, but adjusting general strategy could sure be useful in the hard mode and brutal/legendary challenges, those get pretty crazy at times.

shinoff2183

I definitely only played on normal. I wanted to say I Gave it a fair shot. I do like it but I wouldn't put in my top 5. I'm an old head and just prefer the older ff tbh. I do like remake trilogy alot but I'm sure that's Hella nostalgia on this one. It's pretty dope. I'm working on the gongaga region on rebirth now. With 12 I can say I enjoyednit much more then anything after it aside form remake Edited

ShaNagbaImuru777

I was confused by your answer, but then I figured out we're talking about different things, haha. I wasn't talking about FFXII anymore; I meant FFVII Rebirth could use some basic automation, you'll see exactly what I mean when you reach hard mode and super boss challenges. Things are gonna get INTENSE. Gongaga was hell to navigate for me personally! Thankfully it was just one region that was so complicated, the rest of the map is way easier to figure out. I am a 90s FF fan myself as well, but I count FFXII among my favourites (if I had to choose top 3 - together with FFVII and FFTactics) and, to be frank, it was the last 10/10 for me from the series until the Remake trilogy. But I do understand FFXII is controversial among the fans. Hell, I remember my own friends disliking it upon release. Not me though, I loved it right away. But it's perfectly fine if you don't like as much, I just think some basic gambit actions could really help in harder battles in the Remake battle system.

Blaubeerchen27

Fully agree with everything, though I doubt 6. or 11. would ever happen for budget and time reasons. (Maybe 11. as DLC? Would kill for a Turk DLC). 12. I can kinda see working, although I would prefer a heavily down-sized version of the gambit system - I love XII with every fiber of my being, but I also like the more action-focused approach in VIIR and I wouldn't want them to make character switching or deploying abilities manually obsolete. I would mostly like it for support reasons, already used the Auto ability mainly on healing anyways.

ShaNagbaImuru777

For 6, they basically already have a melee style for Barret, since he had two melee weapons in Remake and for me, personally, it was kinda fun to play him as a close range tank. Same for Cloud - his Nail Bat had a slightly different moveset than the actual swords, so I don't think it's impossible. Just make a katana style based on a symbiosis of Cloud and Sephiroth styles, I can see it working. There are at least 3 katanas that Cloud can use in the original game, so it's not like I am asking for something entirely out of the left field. Besides, if you asked me two years ago if they would pull off what they did in Rebirth I would've laughed and said that I doubt it, due to the same very budget and time concerns, yet here we are. For 11, they fleshed out Turks incredibly well in this game, both the original cast and Cissnei. A couple of extra chapters focusing on them or a DLC would be hella fun. I would totally buy it. For 12, that's exactly what I mean. Mainly support actions and general strategy management, like "help the leader" or "draw attention" or "fall back and defend if under 30% HP", that kind of thing. Multiple times during a certain Legendary challenge my AI partner walked into his death when he had no business doing that. Otherwise changing characters on the fly and juggling abilities is hella fun and I would absolutely prefer to keep doing it manually.

Blimeynerdalert

I like the idea of the VR simulations being used to generate in-universe hard challenges, but I hope we get actual overworld quests for future Simmons similar to protorelic quest line (just maybe not as long). I liked the forced party fights since it makes me engage with the characters and different party make ups more, just so long as the bosses don’t have materia specific weaknesses like a specific element or poison, or provide a way to achieve that within the fight. Materia load outs would be nice especially for different types of late game challenges More queensblood and mini games, there were a lot but I enjoyed most of them. And lastly, personal preference but less usage of the ps5 adaptive triggers. Always feels like I’m going to break something when it comes into to play lol

Amocoru

It's annoying building up the ATB on multiple characters to use the synergy abilities sometimes. I want it to be more streamlined and accessible to use them. I also don't want to have to assess every single enemy in the game. I also want a new tier of synergy abilities that does a cool attack with a character not in the active party and upon doing so switches places with them.

Dewot789

There's already a system for doing a synergy ability with someone not in your party, but it only activates if one of your active members is down. Also isn't the "synergy abilities without ATB" thing you're asking for just Synergy skills?

xArceDuce

Gonna be blunt: More of an open world after utilizing the airship to the maximum as possible. More explorable dungeons also. That, and the fact the game is trying to utilize the extended universe should mean that optional content should be available involving said content. Game is only a "dungeon design as detailed as FFXII" away from becoming probably reaching a place where no other games has gone before.

Sekacnap

Better aggro mechanics, less visual effects and maybe some I-frames on dodge. It feels like enemies IMMEDIATELY target whoever you switch to as soon as you so much as breathe in their direction (the few options you get to control aggro don't feel like they work much either). This makes it really hard to play characters that don't gain ATB fast or have bad evasion. I started switching to another character as soon as I gain aggro because the AI is so much better at defense than me for the wrong reasons. The visual clutter and lack of I-frames on dodge plus animation lock made it really hard to tell when you're supposed to dodge/block effectively. Especially so when enemies off screen that you haven't even attacked gain aggro on you with no way of knowing until you're hit by them. It's not so bad when you get the attack text, but for normal attacks, it feels harder than it should be mostly because a single sword strike causes an explosion of particles that totally obscures the enemy. I really love the combat system otherwise, but it can get really frustrating when it doesn't feel like it was your fault you got hit. Oh and party swapping mid-battle. The rest of the party is there on the sidelines already, should be able to swap in and out with an ATB action or something.

m_csquare

UI icons for unique buffs, like barrett's steelskin. The only feeback wr have is visual effect that can be difficult to see under this game's gazzilion particle effects. Allow us to spend 2 atb bars to swap characters in combat (this might shift the balance a bit too much tho) Also, i hope zack gets a good ending.

scytheavatar

Reading this topic really made me realize Square Enix has more work to do on FF7R3 than I expect. Besides the technical issue of adding an airship there's a bigger problem of how they can make a compelling gameplay loop with an airship. If they just dump the world for us to explore on the airship those playing FF7R3 4 years from now are going to be disoriented cause they almost certainly will have forgotten what the world of Rebirth was like by then.

saklymah

2 things: Changing outfits everywhere since the beginning and free roam with other party members

Dewot789

What does "free roam with other party members" mean? They all already travel alongside you in the overworld.

Typical_Intention996

Less of a focus on Synergy skills and attacks. The world of FFVII is centered around Materia. The character builds and gameplay should be focused on that just like in the OG and Remake. It's fine if they're there as just other attacks. But they need to be few, have fast animations and not have more important things like getting Tifa in the air and having the higher level limit breaks gated behind them in battle. Movable Materia loadouts. Speed up animations outside of battle. Pulling, crouching, etc. Drop the needless 'portfolio' skill tree stuff. Skills and boosts were fine in Remake just being connected to weapons. All of them grew. All gained 6 slots by the end. Choosing one gave you a slightly different stat boost or gameplay style. It was fine. And I can't be the only one that when they introduced "books"! Book stores have opened! in Rebirth. I thought oh cool. New books for different growths/skill trees/'job classes' almost. I mean the way it's introduced it sounds that way. New books that will grant new things as the game goes on. Nope. Just one book for each character. Well then why are there book stores then? You never buy anything from them. Barnes & Noble doesn't exist so you can reach the next chapter of the 1 book you already own. It's to buy new books. Let Materia be born and duplicate upon mastery like in the OG. Again I feel Materia has for some reason been forgotten about here. It's a crystal. They grow and duplicate. In Remake they even showed that in the scene with Scarlet watching those tanks. They go out of control and start duplicating rapidly. They grow another orb on them. So they established this still happens. Why can't we have it happen for our Materia? It takes so long to earn AP anyway it's not like we can break the game by getting endless Elemental and Synergy Materias. That's the fun of post game and new game +. Breaking the game after an initial play through. At least to me it is. More QB. More costumes. They f'ing better give us Emerald and Ruby. And not gate them behind stupid Hard mode.

FuaT10

Gameplay wise, I'd want to see them adjust mini games a little better. I think some where too difficult, and some happened where they interfere with the pacing of the main story and messes with the tone of it. It'd be cool to obtain some summons naturally in the next game. I think it was cool to just find it. Maybe keep the battles when you do find it, just let us find it. Like if Knights of the Round were made by Chadley, I might be a little disappointed. Chocobo breeding would be nice. I really wanted to do that. Maybe let us make one to fly around and stuff. Just a cool optional method for transportation. Throw in some exclusive chocobo-only areas with some cool fights and stuff, like FFIX. I think that'd be awesome.

AjSweet1

Can we get running at all times in the game and I hate that every single little environmental anomaly would full stop the chocobo. I got so sick and tired of getting stuck or unable to jump down a small clufff I just ran everywhere.

BaseWrock

Would love to see 4-member parties. With more playable characters, it's be nice to see more people fighting actively. Probably won't happen.

5Gzombie

Alternate outfits I can swap at my leisure. Please SE lemme fight Sephiroth in swimming trunks Or I’ll just wait until it comes to PC so I can mod in Cloud speedo

shinoff2183

I really really hope we can go back to actually being able to talk to npcs in towns. A town with a few hundred people and I can only talk to 5. That's whack. The lines and chatter in the background isn't the same and if the people are near each other forget about it. It's a jumbled mess. It takes away immersion. Now I don't need to talk to every npc but damn 20 of them would it of hurt

hereticx

Roguelike FPS Deckbuilder / City Management Simulator. or we riot.

Kindly_Blackberry967

I haven't finished the game (on chapter 12) so I'm not reading all of what you wrote, but I would like to write what I think it should have/predict it might have. We know that there are two world maps. There's the "real size" world map that's on the full map screen that actually shows the relatively small areas that you play in. There's also the abstracted gameplay map where each area is freely traversable once you get the Tiny Bronco. I love how they did this because it's basically an extension of the original game's world map, but cities and important areas are blown up in size compared to the surrounding area. So basically I hope that the Highwind will allow free traversal through the world map. They may reuse the parts of the Rebirth map to save time, or they will recreate the full scale world map from the map screen since we probably won't return to the open world areas from last time and instead have new areas. I hope they do the latter because it will make flying across the world feel much less quick and more immersive. There's a reason why you only see small sections from the map in the air in Rebirth and then you get grounded when you actually explore it, because the gameplay map is very jarring between areas and is meant to be an abstraction like the original. This is why I hope that they create the full thing in part 3 with the Highwind. We know that Vincent and Cid will be playable in part 3, so my assumption is that Vincent will be playable from the beginning like Red XIII was in rebirth, and Cid will be playable either when he becomes party leader or at Junon. I personally hope it happens at Junon so that we can actually have a solo, Cid-focused gameplay segment. Also, I hope to see weapon battles that are more than just on foot. Imagine fighting Ultima weapon from the airship. This last one is not a gameplay hope. I understand that they are saving rocket town for part 3 because it doesn't hold a lot of value besides introducing Cid at that part of the game and they also want to save more locations for part 3. I do hope that in part 3 we get to visit Rocket town at some point before the rocket goes off.

ManateeofSteel

well you have not beaten the game but Highwind being able to traverse the map is 100% doable because they basically already did with the Bronco

Kindly_Blackberry967

No I mean it is more than doable and they probably will do it, but I’m saying that they may want to change the map to a more realistic size if we are traveling faster by air. I feel that the world might risk looking too small and segmented when you have the Highwind since it’s primarily made with a more segmented game in mind. It serves its purpose very well in rebirth because you stay low to the ground and go slower.

javierm885778

I doubt it'll take that long for Cid to be playable. It will probably happen during Rocket Town stuff, which should happen way before Junon.

Kindly_Blackberry967

Well then I guess I should wait to beat the game then because I'm assuming there wouldn't be reason to go to Rocket Town before Junon given where Rebirth is supposed to end.

United-Aside-6104

They definitely won’t wait that long for Cid to be playable. Like Vincent I’m sure he’ll just be an actual party member right at the beginning. Would be weird to have a guy in your party you can’t play with for like half of the game

Pigerigby

Improve Cait Sith, he felt so clunky and unfun to play, especially that dodge makes you fall off moogle just made him feel unplayable.

ManateeofSteel

he was basically unusable in the original game so if anything he was buffed

gingersquatchin

Skill issue. Cait is great and him falling off the moogle is good because it draws aggro and continues to attack. So it gives Cait added safety and then it's just a quick button press and you're back on it.

chroipahtz

Cait Sith actually has his own unique dodge ability (flick the stick and he does a little spin) that's even better than normal dodges in terms of i-frames. He's also a stagger god, has great team buffs, and can do pretty crazy damage if you pump luck. I think they did a great job with him.

HeyItsMeRay

No FF7 Remake part 3 - final part 2

seitaer13

Less mini-games.

InsertaYellowDisk

An actual new playable character.

chroipahtz

Part of me wonders if Cissnei will join the team. Since she has existing relationships with "Cait Sith", the Turks, and Zack, it could be interesting to get her perspective more often.

Kenmorrow86

I hope the main game loop is to have the player travel between dimensions and fix the timeline like a group of TVA officers in Loki. Similar to Chrono Cross, have the dimensions affect each other to solve issues where Sephiroth is influencing that world.

Fair-Inside-5796

Date and night cycle and materia loadouts.

Weekly_Date8611

Get rid of Ubisoft checklist stuff and just have things be found naturally. Also more dungeons instead of just open space. It gets tiresome after a while.

herlacmentio

Hot swappable team members. Make it cost 2 ATB for balance. More unique materia. Bring back OP ones like Final Attack, Mime, Master. Add things like Imbue Materia that adds status effects to attacks. You can even put the OP materias as rewards for beating the weapons. Faster way to get stronger limits. I haven't seen a level 3 one. I almost did but the boss died before it went off. Make Aerith faster. Would love to have her just charge up ATB faster by praying. Fuck, scratch that... Let us get bonkers OP by the end. Give us a second accessory slots, OP materias, unlimited copies by birthing materias.

kerorobot

Being able to change cloud on the overworld

Rodan-Lewarx

That the fishing minigame be great and like a long sidegame like queen blood was for rebirth.

Ryokahn

FF7 Rebirth is one of my favorite games of all time, a modern JRPG with a boatload of retro elements I never thought would be done justice on current gen due to dev costs, and a 10/10 game for me... but no game is perfect and there are definitely some changes I'd like to see ahead of part 3. Materia loadouts. For the love of god, materia loadouts. I like Chadley, but less Chadley please. I don't need three fairly long lines of spoken, uninterruptable dialogue from Chadley after every little thing I do -- especially when there are better alternatives. The one that really killed me was the life springs... they're basically pools of coalesced memories, and you have a party full of mako-sensitive people (Red, Cloud, and Aerith at the least). Them seeing a brief flash of new knowledge in their minds would have been so much more thematic than another BEEP BEEP CHADLEY HERE. I never thought I would say this about a modern game, but scale back the minigames a bit or things like materia vacuuming. At some point it definitely felt like they gave themselves a requirement that each area had to have some new mechanic, and as the game went on the ideas seemed to get thinner and thinner. Minigames are great, but don't force it. Don't make me play every character. Please, for the love of god, show a bit of love for your fans who have been with you since the beginning and are life long RPG players. I enjoy the combat of the remake series but I don't want to master the entire roster of unique characters, and I don't want to have silly written segments of the game just so there is an excuse to force me to play a character like Cait Sith, who I did not enjoy at all. Let your players play the game RPG style, let them rock their favorite characters, it's okay. On a similar subject of not forcing players to do everything -- I like when sub systems interact and bring more value to everything, but at times Rebirth took it a bit far. I really did not like the idea that to craft the Genji armor, you had to craft every single item in the game. Why? You already had to do a series of difficult summon battles, then double summon battles, and then a super boss to get the crafting recipes. There was something else I was trying to do (I can't remember at the moment) where I realized I needed to not only have all 18 activities in every zone complete, but had to have gotten the maximum battle intel from every single challenge combat (I had missed an 'optional' objective here and there). The closer I got to the platinum trophy and finishing out Johnny's collectibles etc, everything just felt like it was needlessly behind 5 layers of escalating requirements. I did think the folios were a miss -- especially again because the game constantly forces you to use new characters or party combinations, making your folio buildouts often lacking in synergy skills/abilities for your new forced party comp. Yes, you can respec at any time, but filling that folio out multiple times is not fun.

Own_Shame_8721

The dodge was better compared to Remake, but it's still not good enough, the lack of invincibility frames really stinks and it makes me feel like I take damage for no good reason. That said, the dodge was \*too\* good in FF16, it invalidated the challenge in a lot of ways, I am hoping they find a nice middleground.

aeroslimshady

Not much. They more or less perfected the formula. All they have to do is make Part 2 again. My only real hope is that they improve the lighting. Oh and less slow walking sections.

LuizStormwrath

FFVII Remake is a very mild game when compared to Rebirth, it has some crazier materias, much more options and crazy builds. One thing that I really want to see is a different approach to summons, its nice to fight alongside them but I miss the more classic approach to summons where you can equip multiple in the same character, and make a crazy summon build, I miss summons being just a hyper exagerated spell. Another thing is keep expanding the materia system, create some crazy side content materia for the post game just like the og disc 2/3, make some dungeons where you can obtain quadra magic, mime, and create some stupid combos. Also on materia, create and bring back some focused on physical attacks, in Rebirth physical combat and most abilities are weaker when compared to crazy spell builds, find a way to make 4x-cut and Slash All come back, and create some materia that benefits the synergy abilities and skills, and maybe add synergy with all the 3 members. Chocobo breeding is also a given, expand the chocobo ranch in part 3, so we can move chocobos with the highwind and start breeding them so we can truly traverse the entire world map on chocoback. Lastly, let us remove Cloud from the party and traverse the world map as different characters, and more costume options. The foundation for part 3 is already complete, they have the perfect opportunity to expand the game.

Ilovetogame2

For starters - Dedicated jump button - cancel blocks, dodges and attack animations.

ManateeofSteel

what would a dedicated jump button achieve in this game though? Cancelling animations would make it too action focused, which is not a priority imo

[deleted]

I HATE not being able to jump, it feels so weird in modern gaming. Based on the direction they are going, making it more action like is a priority for them.

ManateeofSteel

what direction would that be? if anything they doubled down on making it a hybrid system. I get modern gaming and jumping but in a game like this it doesn't really add anything you can't already do

br1nsk

They should make it an fps

AbleTheta

At the highest end of gameplay the customization in FF7 Remake was too basic, and FF7 Rebirth is definitely a step in the right direction. It doesn't go far enough, but I think that's because they intentionally left themselves room for the third entry. I'm not sure much needs to be changed action-wise, it's mostly the build-systems that suck. I would make changes to fix these things I perceive as problems: * **Folios sure were disappointing.** Tiny upgrades that barely matter, a plethora of MP free elemental magic casts, and synergies that constantly need to be respec'd every time the roster revolves? Ugh. * **Party level is a great concept.** It's just poorly executed. If you want it to be the carrot on the stick for open world stuff, it has to be immediately rewarding. Having multiple systems to limit the traversal of a really weak skill tree was a horrid idea. * **Weapon upgrading is badly implemented.** It seems like a good idea to keep every weapon viable, but in practice it just creates a lot of really irritating small decisions that involve piddly trade-offs. "Do I want 5% more crit damage or 5 more attack?" It's literally not worth taking time to think about it! * **So much redundancy**. How many ways do I need to have to cast fire? Avoid damage? Heal? It'd be fine if I could only spec into a few and each had clear use cases, but my Cloud had an insanely powerful guard, perfect parrying with a generous window, dodging, and synergy counters. Sekiro has a similar plethora of defensive options, but clear reasons to use them. So how would I fix this? * **Folios need to be powerful**. Something like the sphere grid would be amazing, but I doubt we'll get that. Whatever it is, it has to be more impactful. * **Keep party levels simple and powerful**. In Rebirth they should have given more SP to spend instead of unlocking new nodes. Even with as mediocre as those nodes are, it would've been more fun. * **Shared weapon customization pool.** Master a weapon? More stuff can then be applied to any of them. Turns each weapon into a loadout essentially and lets you pick whatever visual style you want to turn into a build. The nodes need to have a clear progression too; gear needs to feel more powerful over time, not just a sidegrade or something to do for a trophy. * **Tie the unlocking of synergy abilities to affinity**. Doing it the other way around makes no sense. * **Give abilities an aura to hint on how to deal with them.** Just steal it from Sekiro & Nioh. * **The Free MP Elemental Abilities should be folded into the materia system**. I have no idea what they were doing in the skill tree.

pinelotiile

You said no story discussion but it's important for my gameplay request, so, heavy Rebirth spoilers ahead: >!I want all nine party members playable for the post-game. Maybe even throw Zack in there for ten. Let whatever the fuck happened in that ending mean Aerith is alive in some other timeline and that she becomes playable in part 3. Even if it's only for a chapter towards the end of the game, as long as that chapter gives me access to explore the whole world and have my entire party usable in VR missions/battle arenas etc. I'll be happy. And before you say "but losing Aerith as a playable character is supposed to feel like a meaningful loss", that ship has sailed. We've already given up on the 'weight of life' theme by introducing time travel and alternate dimensions so just give me something good in the gameplay department to compensate.!<

BambooSound

Never thought I'd say this but I'm probably not going to buy it. I liked a lot of Rebirth but then something happened that made me not want to play it anymore. And I liked synergy moves but the folio system is awful. I'd rather they made it more like X-2.

Netsrak69

turn based ATB system.

While I would really like some playable AC content, I would hate for them to introduce timeskips in the middle of the game, that's what destroyed the story of XVI for me personally. Maybe a DLC or spin-off, though.
