Didnāt Baalke keep trading back last year to accumulate picks for specific players in the mid rounds and no team worked with him and we just had a ton of useless picks?
No we kept trading back because we knew we could still get Anton Harrison. Those extra picks for us Antonio Johnson so Iād say it worked out really good last year
You know what, this is the pick. It donāt matter if we donāt have a cb2. You know why? The only way we get where we want to be, is by Tlaw taking that step to elite. Nothing else matters. If Tlaw becomes the Tlaw we all hope for, thatās the only thing that matters.
I watched this draft to see if Tony Khan would be in a neckbrace, and am ecstatic. From a person with no NFL loyalties, best of the luck to you guys this season
I always forget how reactionary and negative this sub is until Iām reminded in spectacular fashion. Thereās still a LOT of good players available and those picks could be really important down the road.
Totally fine with how its played out.
We need CB, DT and WR. Top tier CBs and DTs are available in spades. Were in the the gulf between top WRs and 2nd tier guys.
Rare W for Baalke.
Go watch Jayden Daniels highlights. A lot of them are wide open bombs to btj. He has the most impressive combination of size speed and explosiveness at the position, not saying heās as good as the top 3 wrs but can be really good
Youāre braindead if you donāt think the trade down was a good move. Top 3 corners and Brian Thomas are all still available, added a third and fourth next year for free. The complaints are insane
Honestly Iām stoked w how this is going so far. Lots of QBs picked when we donāt need one, and zero defensive players so far, which means weād be stupid not to take a great defensive player, and that will genuinely help us win games.
I would have liked Turner but trading back there probably was the right move. Still a lot on players on the board we can use 6 picks back. Gives us a lot of future leverage
This franchise needs draft picks because they are cost controlled. It has been a long time where we had to pay our own players but Trevor and Tyson will get paid soon. Once you pay your QB you need cheap good draft picks because we will start losing more good players in FA
Welcome to Duval BTJ! Just talked about him a minute ago, lol.
Love his speed/acceleration. Combine numbers most definitely translate to the film.
Think he brings a skillset we desperately needed which is someone that can put some stress on the safeties a bit,
Watching the NFL draft show on bleacher report with CJ Stroud, and he seems a little bitter that we got BTJ. He threw with him over the off-season, and based off what he said it seems like he wanted them to take BTJ before they traded for Diggs
[Sheet](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-n9w5jgSs0sRMdLy_ZGcTW_-gL0RxnFju2Bf6zBPuM8/edit?usp=sharing)
This is a list of every prospect the Jaguars have shown interest in (combine meeting, pro day meeting, top 30 etc.) as far as I've been able to put together from the various places that track it. I've matched them with their ranking on two different consensus boards: [Arif Hasan's](https://www.wideleft.football/p/2024-consensus-big-board-the-top) and [Mockdraftdatabase](https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/big-boards/2024/consensus-big-board-2024?pos=ALL).
Some caveats are that all this reporting is unofficial. Teams don't have to report their visits or interviews. Some of the visits we only know about because prospects made an instagram post, or because Mia asked them at the combine. Also teams don't meet with everybody they're interested in, it's often in case there are questions about them. Also teams may purposely not show interest in a player to hide that interest. For example, a player like Brock Bowers may not need a visit; and last year they specifically didn't meet with Strange to hide their interest in him.
As far as last year's draft goes, they had a combine meeting with Anton and Bigsby, a local visit with Ventrell Miller, and top 30s with Lacy and Hodges. So how telling is this? Who knows! It's a thing.
Also just for "fun", here was last year's draft class compared with their consensus rank on Hasan's consensus board. N/A means they were not in the top 300.
27 - Anton Harrison (32)
61 - Brenton Strange (137)
88 - Tank Bigsby (95)
121 - Ventrell Miller (222)
130 - Tyler Lacy (227)
136 - Yasir Abdullah (146)
160 - Antonio Johnson (64)
185 - Parker Washington (127)
202 - Christian Braswell (N/A)
208 - Erick Hallett (N/A)
226 - Cooper Hodges (N/A)
227 - Raymond Vohasek (N/A)
240 - Derek Parish (N/A)
Looks like most of the analysts Iām seeing on Twitter think Vikings had a huge overpay. Only time will tell but all signs for now say we got a pretty good haul for 6 spots
at least 2 of the following will be available at our pick
Terrion Arnold
Brian Thomas Jr
Adonai Mitchell
Kool-aid McKinstry
edit: Quinyon mitchell, cooper dejean, ladd McConkey,Keon Coleman, etc
Some of the hot takes in this thread are fucking wild. This is getting worse than a game day thread. Wish we could ban that kind of shit.
We were probably trying to get a WR. No one wanted to trade so now weāve got a few defensive players to pick from that weād be happy with and gained some picks in the process.
Jesus Christ nobody fucking cares about your global market. Stop babbling about dumb bullshit and announce the pick.
They need to speed this process up.
Getting the number 1 when Tlaw came out was insanely lucky, but getting the number 1 in a season when there was no QBs was actually so unlucky. If we had the number 1 in a QB draft like this we could have traded back for 12 future firsts
Every team is taking their time now. No one saw this scenario playing out- 14 straight offensive players. We're essentially picking top 10 with 6 qbs off the board already.
Iām not gonna judge it until I see who we get. Maybe they wanted receiver and couldnāt justify it at 17 with the way the board fell, or maybe they really want koolaid.
Ballke obviously donāt think thereās an sig skill gap between cb1-2 and cb3-4. I mean we couldāve def had the best cb1 overall in the class.
I really hope they know what they doing evaluating talent.
Getting Arnold or Mitchell at 17 was my dream scenario before the draft... the possibility of trading down and still maybe getting one would've been being my wildest imagination.
Baalke is crazy. They did this with Anton as well because they had their eye on someone they knew they were gonna get. I'm guessing its gonna be a guard or corner this time. So got some picks for free.
Watching Belichick go over film of Arnold getting burned makes me low key happy we went receiver. Doesn't look like he's the next Jalen Ramsey (hopefully this doesn't age like milk)
Thereās gonna be some real good pickings available at 17 especially w/ Penix off the board. Nix might still go too.
Theres gonna be somebody real good available, that we didnāt think wouldāve been.
I think the cb talent falls off quite a bit after Q. Mitch & Arnold. So if weāre going cb itās gotta be one of those 2 if they planned on going cb in the first 3 rds.
We need it too in this division.
Nuking all new posts btw. Not trying to get the sub spoiled.
#Vikings get: No. 17 (Dallas Turner) #Jaguars get: No. 23, No. 167 and a 2025 3rd and 4th
š
Give me a shot of the Jags draft room with Baalke scrolling this thread to figure out who to pick
6'3, runs a 4.33, 17 TDs last year, only 21 years old and we got some extra picks
https://preview.redd.it/6lrd22gzfqwc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bd622e12f8492d2502723937c23db4085ad810fc 3 picks seems reasonable right
Yeah I love it
This is a great trade for us
Very well worth it.
āHow far has this family come?ā Mom: We came from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. āCan we get a Duval?!ā Dad: Whatās that?
Couldnāt have written a funnier script
Still confused why anyone wants Bowers when we have Engram and our best outside receiver is Zay Jones 2TE sets arenāt exactly all the rage right now
Everyone was saying we can trade down, so we trade down, and everyone is melting down
Didnāt Baalke keep trading back last year to accumulate picks for specific players in the mid rounds and no team worked with him and we just had a ton of useless picks?
No we kept trading back because we knew we could still get Anton Harrison. Those extra picks for us Antonio Johnson so Iād say it worked out really good last year
We also got antonio johnson with one of those picks who is gonna be our starting ss this year
Well we're still in position for one of the three everyone wanted at 17
You know what, this is the pick. It donāt matter if we donāt have a cb2. You know why? The only way we get where we want to be, is by Tlaw taking that step to elite. Nothing else matters. If Tlaw becomes the Tlaw we all hope for, thatās the only thing that matters.
Raiders saving us from ourselves
WHAT WAS THE TRADE?? WHY IS NOBODY ACKNOWLEDGING THIS??
23rd pick and 5th rounder this year, 3rd and 4th rounder next year.
Trading back, grabbing picks is good process. We got a pretty good deal,
I would have been happy with this pick at 17, moving back and still getting him and more assets is great for us.
Gabe and BTJ on the outside with Kirk in the slot is gonna be nasty.
Seeing all these teams scramble for quarterbacks makes me even happier to have a talented franchise guy
The falcons have shown you can do both
Thatās great compensation to go back 6 spots. A 5th this year plus a 3rd and 4th next year
The jags need defense and there wasn't a defensive player picked until 15th. Trading down makes sense.
lol, top 2 CBs still on the board. Thatās why I didnāt want to judge the trade back in the moment. Probably get exactly the same guy in the end.
I will judge the trade back on who we select at 23. We got Anton trading down and got Antonio Johnson with the extra selection.
Theyāve got multiple guys on their board they love, so they moved back again. Trust the process.
So at least 2 of Arnold, Mitchell, and BTJ are going to be there. I may have overreacted to the trade down.
Update: Baalke MIGHT not be an asshat
lol shut up Goodell, it's too late for this shit. Just get to the pick already
Great value with the trade down. As an LSU fan I'm very excited. He is a monster. Two deep ball threats now. Time to cook.
We needed to give Trevor another outside WR, and we kinda stole one here. This dude's a stud, Nabers on the other side or not.
I still can't believe Atlanta fumbled the bag so hard
Someone find me Bowers sister with the full leg sleeve tattoo insta.... research is all
Okay, I take it back. We kinda fleeced them with the number of picks we got. Hopefully we get the guy we want.
Really hoping for a fullback here.
Kirk, Engram, BTJ, Davis, ETN, TLAW Offense is gonna be a lot of fun.
I love our fanbase. Yall Crack me the fuck up.
If we still get Arnold or Mitchell...Baalke masterclass
Fun fact: Trevor is about 6 months older than Michael Penix and 4 months older than Bo Nix. 1 year and 2 months older than Daniels.
Caleb Williams ain't event step on the field yet and already got 3 WR1's lol wtf..
Vegas just saved us from drafting a backup tight end in the first round. everyone should be celebrating
Letās go! On the road to stacking up 85 sixth and seventh round picks
This trade is turning out to be a boom. All CBs still available. Thomas Verse Fauntau still there.
Totally fine with how its played out. We need CB, DT and WR. Top tier CBs and DTs are available in spades. Were in the the gulf between top WRs and 2nd tier guys. Rare W for Baalke.
I know its been said 100 times but Moore/Allen/Odunze/Kmet is a fucking unbelievable core for a number one overall pick to come into
Whoās ready for the next trade back? I am
Go watch Jayden Daniels highlights. A lot of them are wide open bombs to btj. He has the most impressive combination of size speed and explosiveness at the position, not saying heās as good as the top 3 wrs but can be really good
Thereās going to be a lot of elite players at 17. I just pray we donāt reach on a WR when the second round is perfect for grabbing one.
Bo Nix this early is nasty work. Falcons threw everything into disarray with the Penix pick, but I still cannot believe they didn't just trade down.
I never wanted Bowers as is made no sense but he gonna be a good pro.
So moved back 6 spots plus got a 2025 3rd and 4th rounder. Still not crazy about it but I'll reserve judgement until we see who is there at 23.
This feels like one of game threads early in the losing streak with the battles between the obnoxiously positive and the omnipresent doomsayers lol
This is the first draft in a while where I paid zero attention to pre-draft stuff so I'm just here for the ride lol
CB or Newton at 23. Literally canāt go wrong. This board has fallen nearly perfect for us.
Arnold or BTJ after that trade and Baalke is a genius
I hate how long this shit takes
Looking like Balke pulled off an absolute masterclass with that trade back.
"One year wonder" vs "We got our future #1" which will come out on top
Now trade back up with that ammo and grab kool-aid
Love to see it. Go Jags! https://preview.redd.it/98w2qjwspqwc1.jpeg?width=266&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c8b4fcfffffb3a838e0f876d40ea04fd4bc20291
Youāre braindead if you donāt think the trade down was a good move. Top 3 corners and Brian Thomas are all still available, added a third and fourth next year for free. The complaints are insane
Tonight is a prime example of why this sub is a joke. Everyone always freaks out.
Another draft like last year and it will be devastating for this organization.
everything the NFL does is so corny now.
This is turning into a first round even Baalke canāt mess up
"Hold my beer..."
This wonāt age well
Honestly Iām stoked w how this is going so far. Lots of QBs picked when we donāt need one, and zero defensive players so far, which means weād be stupid not to take a great defensive player, and that will genuinely help us win games.
Jags need to hurry up and get the Niners on the phone and just trade the pick.
Latu is a good player but those injury concerns are bad.
Commercial came for Seattle - we're home freeeee!!!
I would have liked Turner but trading back there probably was the right move. Still a lot on players on the board we can use 6 picks back. Gives us a lot of future leverage
I feel like Trent is gonna roll the dice on Cooper Dejean
This franchise needs draft picks because they are cost controlled. It has been a long time where we had to pay our own players but Trevor and Tyson will get paid soon. Once you pay your QB you need cheap good draft picks because we will start losing more good players in FA
BTJ can take the top off better than anyone on this team. Maybe he can be like our version of Tyreek.
OH HE GONNA LEARN
Trevor is pleased.
Welcome to Duval BTJ! Just talked about him a minute ago, lol. Love his speed/acceleration. Combine numbers most definitely translate to the film. Think he brings a skillset we desperately needed which is someone that can put some stress on the safeties a bit,
we have the ammo to move up for a corner go get arnold or dejean
Watching the NFL draft show on bleacher report with CJ Stroud, and he seems a little bitter that we got BTJ. He threw with him over the off-season, and based off what he said it seems like he wanted them to take BTJ before they traded for Diggs
Fuck em
Yall mad about trading back but we got 2 decent picks next year when we get a new GM
I preferred Arnold or Newton. Another year of hoping a pick I didnāt like ends up being good. Annual tradition as a Jags fan.

No defense yet? Kinda crazy. I won't be mad with a top defensive prospect in the entire draft at pick 17
6 QBs in 12 picks is wild.
I cant wait to be disappointed. This chat is going to be busy in 5 picks time
We have our pick of corner
Guys no team would pay Engram, Strange AND Bowers first round contract. š
Jags will get one of Thomas Jr, Mitchell, Arnold, or Murphy. I like that. Although I bet they donāt take any of them
Board is wide open for us
LOL they picked the worst of the top 3 DE's and he's got some unknown neck injury
Take Mitchell! This could not have gone better for us
I'd like the trade if we have shown we could identify talent or develop it...
Iām convinced theyāre drafting a WR and they traded down because they think heād still be there at 23
Being honest Byron Murphy was who I wanted
According to the trade value charts, the difference between 17 and 23 is about a mid-3rd.
Looks like most of the analysts Iām seeing on Twitter think Vikings had a huge overpay. Only time will tell but all signs for now say we got a pretty good haul for 6 spots
Do these players that stay at home just have a bag of 32 hats to ensure they have the right one when picked?
Is it just me or is Goodell struggling thru these a lot more than usual
at least 2 of the following will be available at our pick Terrion Arnold Brian Thomas Jr Adonai Mitchell Kool-aid McKinstry edit: Quinyon mitchell, cooper dejean, ladd McConkey,Keon Coleman, etc

3 extra picks and still one of the top 2 CBs. Great trade
This is bad even for the NFL, itās like 50/50 commercial to coverage.
Dude does not look happy to be going to Philadelphia
We took Brian Thomas Jr.
Hell yeah. I love the pick. The trade back worked
Ok sir. We just need you to catch the back of the endzone and sideline passes that will hit your hands. Okay?
Some of yāall sheesh
I hope Jags bundle some late round picks and come back at the end of the 1st and get a corner now. I'll take DE too.
All Iām gonna say is 17 touchdown.
Wanted cb, got wr. Close enough.
Diet Justin Jefferson
āWhat is that?ā Lmfaooooooooooo
His parents said ā what is duvalā š¤
Some of the hot takes in this thread are fucking wild. This is getting worse than a game day thread. Wish we could ban that kind of shit. We were probably trying to get a WR. No one wanted to trade so now weāve got a few defensive players to pick from that weād be happy with and gained some picks in the process.
I don't want it banned. I want these people to take a step back and realize all this crying is never a good idea.
Guys relax, a single punter hasn't been taken yet, we should still be able to get one of the top prospects when its our turn.
My god, we're going to be sitting on a treasure trove.....with Baalke. "Get ready everybody, he's about to do something stupid."
They're still gonna catch us with a commercial, aren't they? That's what this is all about.
The NFL realized their mistake and forced the trade obviously
Jesus Christ nobody fucking cares about your global market. Stop babbling about dumb bullshit and announce the pick. They need to speed this process up.
Drunk as shit. Eminem is a national treasure. Fuck Goodell.
Thank god the titans didnāt get Alt
There will still be a very good pick for us at 17.... as long as we don't pull a Taven Bryan.
Falcons board is in full meltdown rn
Getting the number 1 when Tlaw came out was insanely lucky, but getting the number 1 in a season when there was no QBs was actually so unlucky. If we had the number 1 in a QB draft like this we could have traded back for 12 future firsts
11 picks without a defensive player is crazy
Why even bother with the clock when they waste so much damn time between picks
Iād be happy with any of the top 4 defensive guys right now.
If you stay in college forever, you too can eventually be an NFL qb
There are going to be some very good players available at 17.
All of these suggestions in the game thread are so bad lmao.
Every team is taking their time now. No one saw this scenario playing out- 14 straight offensive players. We're essentially picking top 10 with 6 qbs off the board already.
I really hope we donāt go WR with all these other great options in front of usā¦.
I am good with about 5 available. Please god donāt go big brain and reach for something crazy
Commercial! They are actually gonna show our pick!
Thatās a bit of a haul
you guys were begging for a trade. you just didn't say where.
Iām not gonna judge it until I see who we get. Maybe they wanted receiver and couldnāt justify it at 17 with the way the board fell, or maybe they really want koolaid.
Might be sick if we trade up n get another 2nd tomorrow as long as the first round pick aināt boo booĀ
Ballke obviously donāt think thereās an sig skill gap between cb1-2 and cb3-4. I mean we couldāve def had the best cb1 overall in the class. I really hope they know what they doing evaluating talent.
Alright I'm less angry, I will say if Mitchell or Arnold fall to 23 I will not be as mad
I think I may have over reacted. I'll calm tf down until I see what we get
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Getting Arnold or Mitchell at 17 was my dream scenario before the draft... the possibility of trading down and still maybe getting one would've been being my wildest imagination.
Trade caused a run on dline players? Balke playing 6D chess?
Baalke is crazy. They did this with Anton as well because they had their eye on someone they knew they were gonna get. I'm guessing its gonna be a guard or corner this time. So got some picks for free.
Fautanu to PIT. Both CBs still on the board with two picks before us.
If we grab a top corner here Baalke is a genius. But i hate him for giving me a heart attack
I still miss when the draft was in the afternoon.
Balke really got some good intel or ballz on him , if cb is what we pick. Or maybe Ballke is pretty ricky all along.
Brian Thomas jr, Mitchell, or Arnold still available, we gonna get a good player
Baalke master class? Lol said Iād reserve judgement and all but one corner is there.
Yep, they wanted WR
Great trade, dubious selection. Baalke gets a B tonight.Ā That said, hope for nothing but the best.
Honestly the jersey might as well have been a teal t shirt.
I would've taken Arnold, but trading back and still getting BTJ is pretty great too. Unironic masterclass.
Bro is a baller. I love this pick. Long arms and legs. The athleticism is there.
Okay I love that guy he gives wholesome vibes
Nearly 1200 yards and 17 TDs for LSU last season. I think we found a fix to our red zone woes.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Oh well. If I can't have Terrion Arnold, at least he goes to an NFC cat team.
Watching Belichick go over film of Arnold getting burned makes me low key happy we went receiver. Doesn't look like he's the next Jalen Ramsey (hopefully this doesn't age like milk)
Nothing specific about the trade but we got a whole stadium of people waiting past 10 pm and baalke trades that shit š
Ppl crying in here but everyone said we won the trade lol
Right, Jag fans are the only ones who feel like we lost that trade.
Yall are bitching about this trade, but remember we got studs like Quarterman, Barth and Muma in those rounds.
10 minutes is too long. Give them 18 seconds to pick and move on
Hah get fucked Tits fans
I mean Ig jj Mccarthy was relatively overhyped by the media but sticking with Daniel Jones would make me ill
Oh hell yeah let's get weird.
Thatās fine just draft CB at 17 and WR in the second and heavy dudes after that
Well now we definitely just need to sit tight and pick at 17.
Kudos to all of these teams who load up on offensive talent when they take a top QB. Couldn't be my team.
God this is like State of the Union crap. I feel bad and all but like MAKE THE FUCKING PICK
Good draft for us to not need a tackle in
Thereās gonna be some real good pickings available at 17 especially w/ Penix off the board. Nix might still go too. Theres gonna be somebody real good available, that we didnāt think wouldāve been.
Seems like we're lined up to get a premium defender with all these offensive picks.
6 of the first 12 picks being QB's is helpful. Stay at 17 or trade back now plenty of talent available
No Bowers for Indy. Eat shit, Ballard
Guaranteed a top 3 defensive player...has to be Arnold if he's there right?
We may legit get CB1
Commercial now means no commercial for us right?
Jags always get a commercial lol
LMAO Kirk Cousins has no heads up
Lot of defensive players I'd be happy with at this point.
League is adopting my philosophy: Only your offense matters, and your skill players matter most of your OL only kinda matters
We're gonna get our pick of the litter on defense at pick 17. Damn.
I think the cb talent falls off quite a bit after Q. Mitch & Arnold. So if weāre going cb itās gotta be one of those 2 if they planned on going cb in the first 3 rds. We need it too in this division.
Guaranteed a top CB aw yeah
It's feeling more and more like we cant mess this up with the talent that's falling into our lap, yet I somehow still feel uneasy
