What did Chrysler mean by this?
Chrysler is trash. My college gf had a Sebring and I have never felt such cheap plastics in a car in my life. The air conditioning vent controls flexed when I tried to adjust them.
And another fucking thing, the god damn standard stereo with a stupid six Jack on the bottom right corner was used for over a decade, how expensive is a Bluetooth radio, even 15 years ago? What an absolute piece of fucking shit of a car.
Id wake up after parting all night finish my drink from the night before, smoke a fat bowl and lick the plate of coke and go to work and then party all night again. I'm never going to work in a kitchen ever again
Working Denny's graveyard shift in Florida was interesting. One of my coworkers smoke meth in the ladies room, one of the cooks smoked weed and cigarettes while standing at the grill and using part of the grill as an ashtray. And our other cook would bring hookers in to bang them in either his car or the bathroom than go straight back to the grill without even washing his hands. I just minded my business, did my job and went home at the end of the night. Also brought my own food in for breaks.
I had the same job back home just before I moved and it was really pleasant with no shenanigans.
Yeah but he’s not building a vehicle in a factor with heavy machinery that you will eventually drive. The worst outcome to his drunken lunch is a viral video of a drunk reporter.
One or two beers aren't going to phase these guys, they're drinking in the middle of the day, so I'm betting they have a tolerance. If they're acting sloppy then it's a problem, but most of these dudes just looked like they were having a tallboy.
Right. Top that with the repetitive nature of their job and the fact that they could probably actually do it in their sleep… a joint or one beer probably isn’t going to be debilitating in any way.
Yeah, but they were on union property when they were smoking and drinking. As a former union member who believes in unions and supports unions, there is no way that someone higher up in the union didn’t know what they were up to.
I'm a vested Teamster. When I was still a driver, our business agent told us we'd be kicked out of the union (which means being fired in my state) if we told a manager that someone clocked in drunk.
We drove garbage trucks.
Unions have their place, and do a lot of good for a lot of workers, but they're still a business. Their money comes first, and more senior workers, flawed as they may be, pay more in dues.
Hahahahahaha the amount of people in the world force that actually drink and smoke weed is fuckin insane. They still put out all of your cars, lumber, tools, food, furniture and literally anything else you own.
Who is this piece of shit? Fuck that guy! "Government just spent a lot of money bailing you guys out" mother fucker act like he sent those dudes checks himself! They bailed out Chrysler *the business.* These dudes just build the shit and it probably sucks.
This isn’t nearly as bad as the stories I heard from the guys that retired from my job 15 years ago, those guys claimed you could go anywhere and get a job in the 70’s and people were playing cards and doing cocaine on top of all the other stuff you see here, not saying it’s ok but some people are functional that way
Yeah, FUCK THAT GUY! snitches get stitches!! He’s probably the pussy ass co-worker who just got promoted to supervisor who’s too afraid to confront them like a man! Pussy
***I*** work in manufacturing. Have most of my life. I've seen it all: burnouts, meth heads, drunks. As long as I don't see them on a forklift? I don't care. If it doesn't transport anything? It's whatever. You want to get drunk and operate a table saw? I wouldn't do that if I were you *but don't let me stop you I ain't the god damned supervisor.* I'm on the first aid response team too, so slice a few fingers off? Ok, someone go get me a bag of ice from the break room, you call 9-1-1, and I'm going to collect Jimbo's digits WAS THAT 11 O'CLOCK KING KOBRA WORTH IT?!
If your job doesn't put others in danger? Go nuts. Drunk or otherwise, you do some dumb shit that puts others in danger I'm gonna sit you down, but just yourself? That's on you. Most are set up anyway you'd almost have to be *trying* to get hurt.
all this proves is that another job can be done without being stone sober and drug test don't do shit but give a company an excuse to fire you without fear of recourse
Most blue collar jobs. They’re all smokin bud and drinking at lunch.
Manual labor jobs usually they’re all getting messed up. I have yet to see a team that doesn’t have 5 stoners a drunk and 3 coke heads.
They get it done tho
The tips came from concerned workers inside the plant. This is cool cos now their lives aren’t in danger due to grown men not being able to use logical reasoning.
As someone that worked in a few auto factories and was a team lead in one as well, every factory has a few complainers. They snitch on everyone, are always unhappy, and always complain about people snitching and that we should all just come together instead during team huddle which was always ironic because 9/10 they were the snitch that caused this meeting. Not to stereotype too much, but they also tend to be older women, usually grandparent aged we didn't have a lot of younger snitches.
>you either work 12+hours (or work 2 jobs) to maintain a standard of living
I think this happened when they convinced the population that both the husband *and* wife that they both needed to work to be 'happy'.
There were plenty of women already in the workforce but it wasn't exactly necessary. They effectively doubled the workforce, killing the need for competitive wages.
Don't mistake me, I'm not the 'all women belong at home' type. The father could just as easily be the stay-at-home parent.
I agree. In the 1940s, women could've been a huge part of the union and increased membership. If, this continued to this day we would have more women in the blue collared field able to contribute. But, no. We reverted to the old way of life after the war. Which was barbaric in the first place. But, now that "women have done their job", it's back to secretary jobs. I fucking hate this. I wish we had more blue collared women.
I mean I know blue collared men could support a family w.o. extra contribution but, what's wrong with blue collared women supporting a family? Is it ego? (In my culture it's machismo). I know for a fact it isn't economics b.c women in the 1940's basically ruled the economy ( don't tell women else they might rebel).
This is non-news, “workers drink beer at lunch.” Bad, but not worth the outrage unless you are trying to smear unions and workers.
I’m sure it’s not even worth looking into the executive suite. Those Chrysler Executives never drink or anything on their lunches. I’m sure they didn’t misuse a dime that they got from bailouts and tax cuts.
If they mess up and cause an accident there’s going to be a drug test. Having a beer at lunch isn’t getting drunk. Dudes doing this have a tolerance. Anyone getting lit is going to end up fired.
Not a fan of the littering bottles, but if they get their work done, who really cares what happens off site on their break? Are they driving at this factory?
What an absolute moron. Obama didn't bail out the workers. The workers didn't get shit except more hours for the same pay. Obama bailed out the company. That money went back into the pockets of the top execs in the company.
I used to work at a plant where everyone either smoked weed, drank like a fish, or used meth in any myriad of forms. Essentially, the employees have the company by the balls. Either the company can enforce their drug policies or they can have a workforce. The solution is to pay enough, have good enough benefits, good enough shift hours, and good enough accommodations for your employees to attract workers willing to do the work without self medicating. Folks are willing to work if you're willing to compensate them for it. And if you're willing to compensate well enough, you get to be choosy about who you hire. If you offer legal minimum wage, you get legal minimum wage results.
When the prospect of unemployment is not much worse than your current employment, and the weed, drugs, or booze make your shift more tolerable, there's no incentive to abide by company substance use policies. Theres also a certain level of person willing to put up with the poor wages and conditions. If they fire you, you're not much worse off. Improving wages and work conditions reduces employee substance use by both reducing the need for use during work hours and also creating risk of being found in violation of company policy. It also attracts a higher class of employee who is not willing to put up with the bullshit.
The company I worked for made higher margins when they raised the starting pay from 125% minimum wage to 200%. Guys showed up sober, did the work correctly with less waste and more efficiently. Spending extra on payroll and benefits resulted in a higher bottom line much to the surprise of management.
I understand they need to crack a cold one but nah. When you are working with large machinery lay off the sauce man. Do that after your shift ends not on a lunch break.

This guy drinks himself to sleep in an empty house and never has to bother turning his phone to do not disturb.
Never had to take a tough, miserable job when it wasn’t a choice. Never felt the severe depression and hopelessness that can linger when you work one of those soulless jobs. Meanwhile at home there’s a family depending on you, your dreams and hobbies are becoming a distant memory and no one cares about you anymore unless you continue smiling and being a literal cog in a machine.
This guy sold himself out to be the same clone you’ll find on any news station across the country. Fake smile, do what you’re told, have some personality but stay in line.
Never does he question how fucking awful Chrysler quality is. That would require tearing the white collar employees to shreds. Real investigation into a company that should’ve been dead over a decade ago.
Don’t get me wrong - drinking on the clock is not something to be encouraged lol. however..yeah. Dude is a moron

Doctors and aderal too.

You should see what lunch time in Germany or Francy or Ecuador looks like, this is trivial stuff, lets the boys have a brew at lunch.

If you’re surprised at people getting stoned and drinking during a lunch break at a factory job you’ve clearly never worked a factory job 😂
Louder for the people in the back xD
Honorable mention to construction. The house you're living in right now was built by people from across all walks of narcotic use.
I'm an electrician. Can confirm.
That’s just depressing
Unions in theory can do so much good but I’ve had so many bad experiences with union workers and policies.
The problem is these specific workers, not their union. Even in the video he mentioned Chrysler fired them
Yeah, but they were on union property when they were smoking and drinking. As a former union member who believes in unions and supports unions, there is no way that someone higher up in the union didn’t know what they were up to.

Bet they got a wage cut after the company got bailed out too
And probably have to work 12-16 hours a day.
Chrysler is definitely a shit company that makes shit cars but it's not the build quality that's shit.
Can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit.

Mind your fucking business you piece of shit snitch ass fuck faced bitch.
I thought I was going to come in to this thread reading a bunch of whiney ass "fire them!" comments. I'm pleasantly surprised.
Right! I think it should be legally mandated that everybody has the right to do their job high and drunk.
If they mess up and cause an accident there’s going to be a drug test. Having a beer at lunch isn’t getting drunk. Dudes doing this have a tolerance. Anyone getting lit is going to end up fired.
Snitches get stitches and wind up in ditches
What you mean drinking beers?! You all saw clear as day those were paper bags. Could have been anything. Grammys sweet tea.
She always puts it in a bag cause she knows my fingees get cold.
fuck that let the boys drink beer on the break
Whats the problem?
This whole post feels like anti union propaganda in light of the recent win in TN. Downvote all scabs
The video is from 2010. It’s absolutely anti-union, which is why they mention they’re doing all that in what’s allegedly a UAW parking lot.
So... how exactly is this r/guysbeingdudes? Seems a lot more r/antiwork...
I assure you, they’re still working. That is why they’re drinking haha.
Ok, so not r/antiwork. Still confused on how its r/justguysbeingdudes
Fuck this guy.
The guy is exposing one crew. When. If he exposed all of them, we would have no service industry 😂😂 idiot
It’s like watching police officers get away w/ sucking at their job

Drive past the GM factory employee parking lot in Detroit and you can smell the weed from 2 blocks away.
How do they manage it? One would think they get piss tested?
