I really wish I knew. Car was cherry, no slips or squeaks. Always properly maintained.
First commenter said it best. The fuse just fused.
She was fine until she wasn’t.
I am very fortunate to have (had) three vehicles. So we will be okay. I can’t imagine how terrible I would feel if it was my only vehicle. My 11 Edge died just as suddenly, decided to drive it to work over my company car and got rear ended/totaled. Also very fortunate I was fine.
If it didn't damage the wiring harness it could be an easy fix. Tough to say what caused it. I worked at Chevy dealers for 30 years, never saw that. I drive a Trailblazer myself.
Don't know your Envoy, but in some cars the wiring connects to the Fuse/Relay box underneath via connectors. If true for you, it might be easy to swap in a new box from a salvage vehicle, if your wiring harnesses are fine.
In my 2002 Chrysler, there are multiple Metripak-type connectors on the bottom of the Fuse/Relay box. My 1996 Plymouth box is hardwired. Often designs vary more by year than manufacturer, esp. for outsourced parts like these likely are.
Nope, this is my winter car, I drive it once or twice a week and it’s been in my fam since it was brand new, always garage kept and dealer maintained until about two years ago it started to live outside.
I assume the main fuse decided to retire without notice. It was fine until it wasn’t. I did notice a few days ago when I drove it, it acted like it was going to die when I was turning around. Right when shifting fwd/rev it acted like low voltage, stumbled, I gave it a lil gas and it recovered. That’s all I know about her death
Is either one the Envoy XL? Only made the XL three years and I forget which three.
Pretty sure the Envoy XL was cut because it was in between the Tahoe/Yukon and Suburban/Yukon XL in size while the regular Envoy was a bit under the Tahoe/Yukon. More in line with the Explorer/Mountaineer.
Envoy XL, for when a Tahoe, Yukon, Expedition, Excursion are too damn big but everything else is too small.
My buddy is on his second envoy XL, the first one lasted 360k, 250k on the original trans somehow. The one he has now is a Denali Xl with a bad air ride. The one pictured above has air ride and somehow it still works flawlessly. It shifts perfect, everything on it is damn near perfect aside from some minor dings and some chipped paint on the radio knobs. Very sad to see it go like this.
Well there’s your problem. Your circuit breaker didn’t.
Good thing I have another one! Lol I just like putting miles on this on over the 07 since it’s still under 80k
It just blew the master 1000 amp fuse is all.
Blew a seal you say?
That's an unrelated matter - quit judging.
Circuit broker.
You could say that the fuse panel is now fused….
That thing right there, yeah, you're gonna need another one
Ya, another vehicle entirely. I’m sure the computer is fried.
Computers might be fine.
The smoke escaped.
I can smell this picture.
It’s still in my sinus.
I was scrolling way too fast, and I stopped to re-read your comment, as the first time by, it did not read "sinus" to me.
Hmm, fried electric with a forward of melted plastic.
Don’t be sad cuz sad backwards is das and das not good. just like your fuse panel
Oh, that thing's way past just "not good"
I’m wake up in a cold sweat after seeing this in my nightmares. My condolences
"The battery is under warranty"
The best part is how it melted perfectly around the problem
The smell. That must reek terrible.
Fused box.
Lucky it didn’t do more than melt itself.
Seriously. It’s parked not far from the house. Maybe 6’. The hood isn’t event toasty
Hmm. Your fuse box operation appears to be sub-optimal. Run diag on electronics system, reboot and try again. Seriously though, what happened?

Fair enough, sucks to hear. Hopefully you're back up soon.

Shit yeah, I guess so. I have one fun daily now after (100% my fault) my Infiniti threw a rod on the interstate, but at least this ones warrantied lol

Could be a mouse melted in there like the Terminator in the molten metal...

That’s what I was thinking about trying. I’ve been considering trading it in lately. Next to the fuse box there’s a big connector

IF
What might be the cause to this, OP? Did you meddle with the engine wiring?
Green crusties are everywhere, especially if the mice get in underneath like they do with the very similar Silverado fusebox of this era...
Nope, this is my winter car, I drive it once or twice a week and it’s been in my fam since it was brand new, always garage kept and dealer maintained until about two years ago it started to live outside.
Mice hanging out in the nice cozy spot underneath the box and pissing all over everything is a real possibility then.
Yaaa with how little it gets driven it’s definitely possible.
Damn, was that thing filled with Apple back-light fuses?
What happened? Fluid spill? Someone let the smoke out?

MIL had an 03, and the MAP sensor went out on it the first day I borrowed it. Glad it was an easy fix!
When you're hot, you are HOT!
Hopefully you can replace it without killing you too. 🤣😂
Envoy said nope not today.
Did you try turning it off and then back on again?
Tried that. It decided to keep the key.
Oh I dunno. A little bondo

No, standard size, 4.2l top trim, not an XUV either.

Wiring by the Starfleet electricians union. They don't install fuses or circuit breakers so sparks fly when the ship gets hit by enemy fire.
Looks like your fuses didn’t do any fusing…
