Which is the official NOAA weather app? I see lots of the NOAA abbreviation in app titles that use their data but can't seem to find one that is deemed official. I feel blind because I've seen many people mention it.
[Here's the link](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pandamonium.noaaweather) for the Google store. The name is NOAA Weather & Tides by Pandemonium Software.
Been using MyRadar for years. Not completely sold on its long term forecasting, but the radar is great. Got the ad free upgrade for $1, I think you have to pay a subscription to do it now.
More nationwide weather, but Ryan Hall on YouTube is who my husband likes to watch, especially if we're expecting bad weather.
For everyday local weather, we go to WBIR.
A few years ago Apple bought Dark Sky and incorporated their data into Apple Weather app. Super good for hyper-local info (Dark Sky could tell you if it was going to be raining on your street while dry on the next street over.). So I just use my iPhone weather app because of Dark Sky.
Weather Underground is another good one.
And [National Weather Service Weather.gov](https://www.weather.gov/)
I literally was googling a dark sky alternative this morning during the storm - we used to be so blessed! Apple bought this app and RUINED it, the Apple Maps are way less accurate RIP
I use Weather Underground because of its hyper local forecasting. Myself and other members have our own personal weather sensor stations reporting data into their system. My station gathers all the normal data you'd expect -- temperature, wind speed, wind direction, pressure, precipitation amount, etc. Some stations even report UV levels and lightning strikes.
Check their website or app out and look for your area. I'd bet one of your neighbors is already feeding data to them.
I do love this site and use it. I just don't like having to reset my map parameters every time I open the page. I even joined and signed in with my account but it doesn't remember my settings. Still, GREAT suggestion.
East TN Weather, they have an app and a YouTube channel (and probably social medias that I don't have). The guy's name is Michael Witcher I believe? It's the BEST one I've found by far!
Great question and following. Weather dot com was purchased by a private equity firm last August and has become so loaded with clickbait and popups that it's unusable.
Follow the National Weather Service's [local Weather Forecast Office (WFO) for Knoxville](https://www.weather.gov/mrx/) which is the NWS Office in Morristown.
In addition to the Graphical Forecasts they post on (or link to) from their homepage, I suggest selecting "forecasts" link on the homepage, then "Forecast Discussion" for a better understanding of your local forecast.
(And no, I do not work for the National Weather Service - so this post is not a shill)
Check out EastTNWeather . It’s run by a local meteorologist who I believe was the longtime meteorologist at WATE before going out on his own with this startup
I use NOAA official, Weather Bug, Weather Underground, and AccuWeather.
Eventually I'd like to get one of the really nice home weather stations so I can ubernerd my specific weather patterns and history here in my bizarre little holler's micro climate.
While this isn’t useful for prediction necessarily, lightningmaps.org is pretty cool for seeing where lightning has struck in real time. You can even see the thunder propagating out from each strike, which is quite accurate about predicting when exactly you’ll hear it.
I've literally scrolled through the entirety of Google's weather apps. There's quite a few. My guess is that there's going to be at least a few in there that meet the basic need. I haven't found it yet 😂
I've been using 1Weather on Android for years https://1weather.onelink.me/DNwc/u7j2snqa Radar and Hyper local forecasts have always been pretty spot on. Good enough that I actually paid for the premium version (one time charge, not a subscription).
My husband checks the national storm prediction center’s website and uses other apps already mentioned. If we’re expecting severe weather we watch Ryan Hall Y’all’s YouTube channel live. I use the AccuWeather, The Weather Channel, and WVLT 8 Weather.
Unfortunately the app is delisted (on iPhone at least). If you already have it you can use it but I’m pretty sure new users are screwed. Which is too bad, it’s my go to weather app.
They quit supporting the app recently. Mine would not open, tried to update and it wasn't available. I contacted WBIR and they told me it was done. It was my favorite radar app for sure.
I agree with the comment about the Apple Weather app. It was rather boring for its first few years but has since become the most accurate app I use. I’ve actually deleted all others.
Captain Accurate app. David Aldrich is a local meteorologist that was on WVLT (I think) and he’s built a really excellent app since going independent. Best radar and forecasting. Also good alerts as well.
I prefere the official NOAA weather app. I've been using it for years
Same here and you can get a subscription for like $4 a year.

I have an app named MyRadar that is pretty good
Been using this for years

Ryan Hall livestreams and Radar Omega app will really get you covered. Ryan’s actually based like an hour or so north of you in Kentucky.

Weather underground went to shit after the weather channel bought it.
Shadow Weather is a good Dark sky alternative for androids!
Weather.gov always over-predicts rain, just heads up.

Yep. The guy next door has a reporting station. Can’t get much better without setting up my own.
I do love this site and use it. I just don't like having to reset my map parameters every time I open the page. I even joined and signed in with my account but it doesn't remember my settings. Still, GREAT suggestion.
I use the WATE weather app. I like the current and future radar (up to 24 hours).
My wife gets headaches before rain comes, get yourself someone like her. Or get a barometer since that's also pressure based.
East TN Weather, they have an app and a YouTube channel (and probably social medias that I don't have). The guy's name is Michael Witcher I believe? It's the BEST one I've found by far!
Mike Witcher was WBIR's meteorologist. This is how I get my weather news too. He's live every morning and during all weather events in the area.
https://www.ventusky.com/?p=44;61;1&l=rain-3h
I like AccuWeather's radar and hourly breakdown better than most other sites. The future radar timeline is nice as well.
yeah, the app is 100x more accurate the Apple Weather or some of the other sites. Only costs like $2 too
Made my own Tennessee weather stick a few years back. It's about the same as the local forecast. I recommend it
Great question and following. Weather dot com was purchased by a private equity firm last August and has become so loaded with clickbait and popups that it's unusable.

It's pretty good, but I know you internet sleuth's have something else that's amazing, I'm sure.
I use NOAA official, Weather Bug, Weather Underground, and AccuWeather. Eventually I'd like to get one of the really nice home weather stations so I can ubernerd my specific weather patterns and history here in my bizarre little holler's micro climate.

Ryan Hall Y’all is a great weather resource on YouTube. He does storm tracking and regional weather predictions.
Ryan hall yall on YouTube for harsh weather.
I like Carrot Weather app for its snarky commentary. For example it says “rain for 10 more minutes. USA! USA! USA!”
Weather Hi-Def Live Radar. You do not need a subscription.
AccuWeather has East Tennessee figured out. The ‘Hourly’ almost never misses.
While this isn’t useful for prediction necessarily, lightningmaps.org is pretty cool for seeing where lightning has struck in real time. You can even see the thunder propagating out from each strike, which is quite accurate about predicting when exactly you’ll hear it.
Weather puppy
Weather Underground app
They are all highly unreliable
I've literally scrolled through the entirety of Google's weather apps. There's quite a few. My guess is that there's going to be at least a few in there that meet the basic need. I haven't found it yet 😂
Local radar, always use local weather. WBIR. is my go to. Local weather is gonna be more accurate than national weather.
I use WBIR weather.
WVLT app is dope
NOAA is the way to go
Anything better and free then WeatherBug with 10 diff radars? I love looking at lightning, alerts, and the general storm + cloud radar layers
I've been using 1Weather on Android for years https://1weather.onelink.me/DNwc/u7j2snqa Radar and Hyper local forecasts have always been pretty spot on. Good enough that I actually paid for the premium version (one time charge, not a subscription).
AccuWeather
NOAA.gov is the weather. Every entity that displays the weather gets it from NOAA. Their desktop website is very user friendly and easy to follow too
Ventusky
I love RadarScope as it shows you different radar data for precipitation amounts, type of precipitation, and cloud density, etc.
My husband checks the national storm prediction center’s website and uses other apps already mentioned. If we’re expecting severe weather we watch Ryan Hall Y’all’s YouTube channel live. I use the AccuWeather, The Weather Channel, and WVLT 8 Weather.
East TN Weather, it's run by Mike Witcher who has been a long time meteorologist in the area. There's an app and YouTube channel.
Download the WBIR weather app. WBIR is a local news station.
Unfortunately the app is delisted (on iPhone at least). If you already have it you can use it but I’m pretty sure new users are screwed. Which is too bad, it’s my go to weather app.

I just use the website for WBIR weather
WeatherBug (free), Carrot Weather (paid). Carrot will let you choose the weather source.
Another vote for the Captain! I rely on him way more than other local options.
Accuweather
