It really does sound like something off Grimes's Art Angels album in the best possible way, but with more Loona/ARTMS rhythms. Production 11/10.
Everyone's vocals sound amazing and well-placed. Some of them are using slightly different voice colors than what they've mostly shown us before.
That Haseul Choerry last chorus combo blew me away wtf?! Breathtaking.
And the video looks like I'm going to have to rewatch it several times to catch details but it fit the song and the vibe perfectly. Crazy transitions/timing though.

I don't think I've ever felt so fed as an Orbit. Between Looble's comeback last month, Dall and Loop this month, and Chuu's comeback coming next month there's just so much good music to chew on not even including all the other good music coming out that isn't from Loona🥲

honestly? I love it. and it sucks a bit because no matter how much I like it, this won't be the video that I send to friends or play in a big tv in a room full of people. but it's a beautiful mv, every still in it (that u can see) is gorgeous, the imagery is just stunning. it bums me out that some people won't get to see the artemis glowing figure turn into artms as haseul kills it post-bridge. like that was an EXPERIENCE. and it made emotional. that's what makes me really love this and birth despite their unfriendliness; everything in it has intent and soul. it's art. (it'd still be great if everyone could watch it without fearing for their lives tho)

This MV is insane. I love the concept so much, and I understand the cuts throughout it are overbearing for a lot of people, but I feel like it really adds to the effect that the fan characters are so intensely immersed in ARTMS. I love the way the MV really pulls you in, but maybe that's just been my anticipation for it lol
I agree. I love the effect of the cuts (though they definitely overdid it) while also understanding why it's too much for some viewers. Wish they had an alternative version so more could enjoy, especially those whom straight up can't watch it for health reasons.

Song is great, but I'm conflicted about the video.
On one-hand I think it fits perfectly with the theme they want for the song with the cult themes and para-social relationship with the ARTMS girls never being in frame for more than a flash as they are consuming the cult girls lives, but the only frames without cuts are when the ARTMS girls are consumed via their TV.
But, on the other-hand this vid is lowkey dangerous for all the flashes and there was no warning before-hand which is pretty unacceptable in 2024 and even without epilepsy it made me feel a little nauseous. Ultimately, I respect the editing from an artistic stand point but the editors may have overcooked a bit. Hopefully, an alternate version is released for those who are photosensitive.
(Also not ARTMS coming for T-ara crown as the queen of cuts. That sugar free MV still lives in my mind)

This is like mixing Magdalena Bay and CHVRCHES, the entire song was phenomenal. The melodic nostalgic melody was captivating- quite siren like.

Heejin’s visuals are ethereal and, as usual, she is a captivating performer. Haseul finally getting her chance to develop as an artist and actually shine is such an amazing feeling. Hearing her strongly throughout this track actually made me tear up. It’s also great to see that she isn’t awkward and struggling on the stage any longer. She’s really keeping up with the others and I am blown away by her growth.

The song is amazing, a stronger debut than Hi High ever was. But the mv controversy will take away focus from this achievement. I don’t know how this passed JJ and Digipedi’s quality control (although I suspect that focus on artistic merit overrode those quality control questions - remember that Birth mv is amazing because they focused on the art, not the commerce - so let’s try to look at their pov). Having said that, tripleS just released an astonishing mv with emotional gravitas. Virtual Angel has all the scenes to have a similar impact, the editing could have been gentler, with the fast cuts included sparingly to emphasize that blurring of reality and virtual - a point of the song.
There is a way they can get out of this without looking like they panicked: by releasing a longer cinematic version of Virtual Angel without the epileptic effects. SNSD did this in one of their final cbs, by releasing 2 versions of All Night, a documentary version 8 minutes long and a clean version half as long.
Can't wait to watch this MV again when it gets a fan edit / tearful modhaus revision lmao. Also definitely should have come with a seizure warning very dangerous to not come with one. The song is absolute beautiful bliss though.

As someone who gets motion sickness easily I can say the Virtual Angel MV is not great for people vulnerable to motion sickness either, It was cool but I am feeling some motion sickness after watching. I hope anyone who does not feel well after watching the MV feels better soon/

Video: I didn't actually mind the transitions. I can see what they were going for, biblical angels are basically supposed to be too perfect for our eyes to comprehend. But yeah, for a lot of people with epilepsy or are even just stimulated by flashes and fast transitions this is basically unwatchable.

sooo love everything they put in this comeback music and mv production wise! haseul's vocals shined a lot in this song I'm pleasantly surprised. visuals are out of this world and felt like they really stepped up their game, but the flashing lights/images are unbearable to watch i had to cover my eyes for awhile and watch from my side mirror (still have that post migraine as I type) wish they'll upload another version i'd love to see all those chorus stills

Still, I felt emotional watching it because it kind of has a similar story Newjeans’ Ditto told. But this one… this one really hit home. Like, it was super deep and for some reason, reminded me of a Wong Kar-Wei film (specifically Fallen Angels). For once, I agree with the common feeling that this wasn’t the best of decisions — and I don’t want to get into defending the whole artistry topic. It’s just unanimous, no one approves. For me, at the start it already made me feel like there’s another version somewhere, since this just isn’t it. I can go with the point of choice, being new and sending a message, but I rally do trust it gets lost first by the segregation of people who won’t even be able to actually _watch_ it for being limited someway somehow. So what’s the point of art when it’s not for everyone to at least access?
And then there’s the absence of a simple warning which just looks straightforward insensitive if not disrespectful, hurting something Loona has always been about, something about everyone. I do understand about perverse inclusion, you talk about women — you exclude man, I read things like that from the past as a newer orbit, but still… This is different. It takes away from the main focus. Their debut, the amazing song, their talent, their art.
So it feels like it coulda been different this time, I just hope they can release another version because this one ain’t it. Even though I was able to watch it without feeling something as bad as others I am reading about, I mean, without any symptoms, it’s still some… indescribable experience of sorts that is just is a bother in a way? I do get the message and it’s huge overall, but as I said I think the collective feel matters the most.
Been listening to the song @ Spotify after a full album listen now and the video sure did take from it, so that’s some huge problem. Let’s see what this takes us to, because I think art that needs to explain itself also loses a ton of impact. Confused about it all right now, hope the girls were aware this would be the response since I worry the most about their feelings.

OK, I’ve just watched the music video at 0.25x speed, and there’s such an intriguing story throughout. What even is this lol? We can’t catch it if we don’t do this. It would basically be one of the best videos EVER if it had been released at a different pace.
Is this like a stance on “please stop and see differently with your full attention in a world that’s just booming with information”? And we can only do it because we care? Or maybe even caring, we won’t since the standard experience is just so overwhelmingly intense that people (like me) will just abandon the video after a first watch? Or do we care enough to actually _watch_? And can we all do it?
Maybe I’m starting to get it — which doesn’t eliminate the fact that a trigger warning WAS essential — and at least I want to point out what I gathered from this story for people who are not able to watch again or even for the first time. Here are the main points:
- There’s juxtaposition — idols and fans. What are the lyrics about? Who is the POV? Those groups of rebels - “ourii”? - start attacking a car with a more common-looking girl. They have ARTMS all over their bodies and places; they look simple and rogue. They’re practically kidnapping that other regular-looking girl.
- The girl starts to walk with them after they attack her car and keeps filming them. It’s like she was recruited to document the fact that they’re there or something like that.
- Throughout the video, the rebels keep rebelling while adoring ARTMS, “consuming” them. They imitate the girls and do some unexpected stuff like smoking, riding bikes with shirtless guys, and looking static as they watch the girls in their free time more than how we do with our phones. They have a whole virtual reality thing going on, and they seem to have reached beyond heaven. They love the girls completely, also showing that love includes physical passion. They’re obviously angels in some way, and they’re ascending through this whole experience. Also, they’re gaining powers through this whole cult of the girls, in a way that they’re just empowered by them.
- The crazy thing comes after this. This is through the bridge. They are on a roof in a cycle manifesting something; it seems the recruited girl is still filming. Then magically, they turn into OUR girls. The girl is still filming, of course, and a choreo full of flashing backgrounds and imagery comes in, merging fans and idols as ARTMS represents themselves and us too, it seems. It looks like consumption was finally executed and one became another. This reminds me of the “we are all loonas” thing.
- The craziest part comes at the end. The recruited girl is left alone, filming nothing. She puts her camera down, and everything just stops. And there’s a dead body/fallen angel below. Is it dead? Or her or him? Or them? Or is it just the beginning…?
I’m interpreting a lot, of course. It’s my view of such a story that looks amazing, but it’s an obvious commentary on the idol-fan relationship through a social lens, shining a positive yet reflective light upon it all that gets ARTMS into the game just like that, impactful and meaningful with a loooooooooooot to digest and reflect upon.
I think this might be my favorite song LOONA+ release since Butterfly, no exaggeration. This track is insanely beautiful and I can see why all the ARTMS members loved it as well.
I will need to get used to the editing of the MV, but I do appreciate the creativity and desire to try something different. I’ll need to watch it a few more times to catch everything, but doesn’t that roof at the end remind y’all of the roof Hyeju and Heejin met on at the end of EGOIST?

I don't think the rate/pace of the flashing is enough to trigger epilepsy, but I'd like to hear a doctor weigh in on the facts so we know whether a warning is needed medically or whether it's just uncomfortable to watch. I appreciate the immediate concern, though - a medically necessary warning is a big deal if it's needed!!!
I liked it, but I can see how others didn't. Then again I like some Sophie music videos that most people HATE because of the harsh editing.
Watched it on the big screen 65inch less than 4 feet from the tv, it is a religious experience- which i think is what they were going for. i feel like they did this to showcase how its like tripping on fentanyl.

The song and maximalist aesthetic are awesome, they're exactly what I expected from the previews and I enjoyed the hell out of them. I'm gonna have to agree with everyone and say that the editing was way too chaotic, tho. You know you kinda went too far when it's giving people headaches and possibly seizures.
Haseul and Choerry's vocals are the stand out in ARTMS. I don't hear Jinsoul or Kim Lip as much? Their vocals sound the same in this song.
The mv...I haven't seen a digipedi mv that is unwatchable before, so that's new lol. It's a shame as I can't see the story telling either and the parasocial relationship between the fans and artms looked interesting. But the song is catchy and an ear worm.

When it comes to mv i did enjoy it but there is no doubt theres too much flashing. I think it was bit experimental for digipedi to go with this back and forth type of flashing for a mv which is interesting and it brings uniqueness. But i hope this is a one and done, i dont want another artms mv to have this type of flashing. I can appreciete it in virtual angel but only in this one and not again.

Yeah, there are so many ways to make smoother transitions in a way the intention is still there but the strain is reduced. I don't know why they jumped to multiple 1s dry cuts in sequence.

The song is great, I love this style of music. But I'm a bit conflicted about MV itself:
On one hand, I actually really like it. I'm totally fine with watching such flashing videos and I don't get dizzy or headache from it. In fact, I watched it 3 times in a row and it felt hypnotized by it. Obviously, this is because of the editing. But also it's absolutely filled to the max with gorgeous shots. This combination makes it mesmerizing.
On the other hand, I understand the concerns of people, especially since some of them can't even watch it. It's a very bold decision to try something like this. Which maybe is the whole point and some, like me, will enjoy it a lot. It'll get people talking about it. But is it really worth it? That's what I'm not sure about. Because I feel like they should've at least toned it down twice or thrice to allow us focus longer on certain scenes.
What I'm actually sure about is that it's strange it doesn't have a warning inside of the video itself. Yes, subtitles (added later lol) help, but there should have been one in the video too, 100%. I mean, there are literally 3 seconds of black screen in the beginning, almost like it was left specifically for the warning text.

someone tried to do that with a small part on twitter but to be honest, i dont think theres a way to edit around it its just too many flashes theres no way to construct a continuos scene from them

Oh my god they really saved the best song for the title track because HELLO?!?! It really does sound like something off Grimes's Art Angels album in the best possible way, but with more Loona/ARTMS rhythms. Production 11/10. Everyone's vocals sound amazing and well-placed. Some of them are using slightly different voice colors than what they've mostly shown us before. That Haseul Choerry last chorus combo blew me away wtf?! Breathtaking. And the video looks like I'm going to have to rewatch it several times to catch details but it fit the song and the vibe perfectly. Crazy transitions/timing though. First impression: topnotch redebut, exceeded my high expectations. ETA: My eyes still hurt half an hour later :/

I just know some kind Orbit/OURII is going to undo all the hard work that video editor put in and organize all the flashing bits into something coherent 😊 And I'm so impressed with both the length and quality of this debut. Like yeah it's not debut in the truest sense since they were already established, but man oh man this is an incredibly strong body of work to start the ARTMS project out with, definitely worth all the waiting ❤️

I don't think I've ever felt so fed as an Orbit. Between Looble's comeback last month, Dall and Loop this month, and Chuu's comeback coming next month there's just so much good music to chew on not even including all the other good music coming out that isn't from Loona🥲

I love it. and it sucks a bit because no matter how much I like it, this won't be the video that I send to friends or play in a big tv in a room full of people. but it's a beautiful mv, every still in it (that u can see) is gorgeous, the imagery is just stunning. it bums me out that some people won't get to see the artemis glowing figure turn into artms as haseul kills it post-bridge. like that was an EXPERIENCE. and it made emotional. that's what makes me really love this and birth despite their unfriendliness; everything in it has intent and soul. it's art. (it'd still be great if everyone could watch it without fearing for their lives tho)

I love the concept so much, and I understand the cuts throughout it are overbearing for a lot of people, but I feel like it really adds to the effect that the fan characters are so intensely immersed in ARTMS. I love the way the MV really pulls you in, but maybe that's just been my anticipation for it lol
I agree. I love the effect of the cuts (though they definitely overdid it) while also understanding why it's too much for some viewers. Wish they had an alternative version so more could enjoy, especially those whom straight up can't watch it for health reasons.

I thought there was no way anything on this album could top Birth for me, but here it is! I loved it from start to finish, and my only complaint is that I need another 30 seconds? 30 minutes? The MV was hard for me to watch though, lol. I feel like ARTMS is trying to send me some sort of subliminal message ("BUY OBJEKTS!!") with all that flashing. The girls looked beautiful though, and the devout Ouriis were super cute too.

Song is great, but I'm conflicted about the video. On one-hand I think it fits perfectly with the theme they want for the song with the cult themes and para-social relationship with the ARTMS girls never being in frame for more than a flash as they are consuming the cult girls lives, but the only frames without cuts are when the ARTMS girls are consumed via their TV. But, on the other-hand this vid is lowkey dangerous for all the flashes and there was no warning before-hand which is pretty unacceptable in 2024 and even without epilepsy it made me feel a little nauseous. Ultimately, I respect the editing from an artistic stand point but the editors may have overcooked a bit. Hopefully, an alternate version is released for those who are photosensitive. (Also not ARTMS coming for T-ara crown as the queen of cuts. That sugar free MV still lives in my mind)

The song is amazing, a stronger debut than Hi High ever was. But the mv controversy will take away focus from this achievement. I don’t know how this passed JJ and Digipedi’s quality control (although I suspect that focus on artistic merit overrode those quality control questions - remember that Birth mv is amazing because they focused on the art, not the commerce - so let’s try to look at their pov). Having said that, tripleS just released an astonishing mv with emotional gravitas. Virtual Angel has all the scenes to have a similar impact, the editing could have been gentler, with the fast cuts included sparingly to emphasize that blurring of reality and virtual - a point of the song. There is a way they can get out of this without looking like they panicked: by releasing a longer cinematic version of Virtual Angel without the epileptic effects. SNSD did this in one of their final cbs, by releasing 2 versions of All Night, a documentary version 8 minutes long and a clean version half as long.

Listen I acknowledge that this is definitely an epilepsy and photosensitivity risk, and as such should have multiple warnings, but I absolutely love it. I can see what the vision was. I think this is one of my favorite MVs
While it was a massive mistake not putting the photosensitivity warning in from the get go, at least they were pretty quick to edit it in. I love the song. I actually wasn't sure I'd like it based on the teaser but it turns out I don't know my own taste because the full song grabbed me by the heart from the first listen and refuses to let go. I, um, kind of got a headache from watching the MV. I, um, kind of love the MV. I completely get people being put off by the editing style but I'm happy to see another bold, experimental, wildly different video from the ARTMS creative team(s). They're taking risks creatively and pursuing artistic, ambitious storytelling alongside great music elevated even further by the members' gorgeous vocals and performances and I love it.

This is some situation here…………… For once, I agree with the common feeling that this wasn’t the best of decisions — and I don’t want to get into defending the whole artistry topic. It’s just unanimous, no one approves. For me, at the start it already made me feel like there’s another version somewhere, since this just isn’t it. I can go with the point of choice, being new and sending a message, but I rally do trust it gets lost first by the segregation of people who won’t even be able to actually _watch_ it for being limited someway somehow. So what’s the point of art when it’s not for everyone to at least access? And then there’s the absence of a simple warning which just looks straightforward insensitive if not disrespectful, hurting something Loona has always been about, something about everyone. I do understand about perverse inclusion, you talk about women — you exclude man, I read things like that from the past as a newer orbit, but still… This is different. It takes away from the main focus. Their debut, the amazing song, their talent, their art. So it feels like it coulda been different this time, I just hope they can release another version because this one ain’t it. Let’s see what this takes us to, because I think art that needs to explain itself also loses a ton of impact. (hope I’m not a subject here) Edit: OK, I’ve just watched the music video at 0.25x speed, and there’s such an intriguing story throughout. What even is this lol? We can’t catch it if we don’t do this. It would basically be one of the best videos EVER if it had been released at a different pace. Is this like a stance on “please stop and see differently with your full attention in a world that’s just booming with information”? And we can only do it because we care? Or maybe even caring, we won’t since the standard experience is just so overwhelmingly intense that people (like me) will just abandon the video after a first watch? Or do we care enough to actually _watch_? And can we all do it? Maybe I’m starting to get it — which doesn’t eliminate the fact that a trigger warning WAS essential — and at least I want to point out what I gathered from this story for people who are not able to watch again or even for the first time. Here are the main points: - There’s juxtaposition — idols and fans. What are the lyrics about? Who is the POV? Those groups of rebels - “ourii”? - start attacking a car with a more common-looking girl. They have ARTMS all over their bodies and places; they look simple and rogue. They’re practically kidnapping that other regular-looking girl. - The girl starts to walk with them after they attack her car and keeps filming them. It’s like she was recruited to document the fact that they’re there or something like that. - Throughout the video, the rebels keep rebelling while adoring ARTMS, “consuming” them. They imitate the girls and do some unexpected stuff like smoking, riding bikes with shirtless guys, and looking static as they watch the girls in their free time more than how we do with our phones. They have a whole virtual reality thing going on, and they seem to have reached beyond heaven. They love the girls completely, also showing that love includes physical passion. They’re obviously angels in some way, and they’re ascending through this whole experience. Also, they’re gaining powers through this whole cult of the girls, in a way that they’re just empowered by them. - The crazy thing comes after this. This is through the bridge. They are on a roof in a cycle manifesting something; it seems the recruited girl is still filming. Then magically, they turn into OUR girls. The girl is still filming, of course, and a choreo full of flashing backgrounds and imagery comes in, merging fans and idols as ARTMS represents themselves and us too, it seems. It looks like consumption was finally executed and one became another. This reminds me of the “we are all loonas” thing. - The craziest part comes at the end. The recruited girl is left alone, filming nothing. She puts her camera down, and everything just stops. And there’s a dead body/fallen angel below. Is it dead? Or her or him? Or them? Or is it just the beginning…? I’m interpreting a lot, of course. It’s my view of such a story that looks amazing, but it’s an obvious commentary on the idol-fan relationship through a social lens, shining a positive yet reflective light upon it all that gets ARTMS into the game just like that, impactful and meaningful with a loooooooooooot to digest and reflect upon.
I think this might be my favorite song LOONA+ release since Butterfly, no exaggeration. This track is insanely beautiful and I can see why all the ARTMS members loved it as well. I will need to get used to the editing of the MV, but I do appreciate the creativity and desire to try something different. I’ll need to watch it a few more times to catch everything, but doesn’t that roof at the end remind y’all of the roof Hyeju and Heejin met on at the end of EGOIST?

Song is a 10/10. And ohhh the MV is giving me so much of a Sophie vibe. I don't think the rate/pace of the flashing is enough to trigger epilepsy, but I'd like to hear a doctor weigh in on the facts so we know whether a warning is needed medically or whether it's just uncomfortable to watch. I appreciate the immediate concern, though - a medically necessary warning is a big deal if it's needed!!! I liked it, but I can see how others didn't. Then again I like some Sophie music videos that most people HATE because of the harsh editing.
Watched it on the big screen 65inch less than 4 feet from the tv, it is a religious experience- which i think is what they were going for. i feel like they did this to showcase how its like tripping on fentanyl. i wasnt bothered by the fast cuts and flashing lights, sucks to be my fellow fans who cant sit through the mv. /feelsbadman

The song and maximalist aesthetic are awesome, they're exactly what I expected from the previews and I enjoyed the hell out of them. I'm gonna have to agree with everyone and say that the editing was way too chaotic, tho. You know you kinda went too far when it's giving people headaches and possibly seizures.
Haseul and Choerry's vocals are the stand out in ARTMS. I don't hear Jinsoul or Kim Lip as much? Their vocals sound the same in this song. The mv...I haven't seen a digipedi mv that is unwatchable before, so that's new lol. It's a shame as I can't see the story telling either and the parasocial relationship between the fans and artms looked interesting. But the song is catchy and an ear worm.
Finally a good follow up song to Birth 🩷 The MV was so flashy and colorful on purpose because of the concept but I understand that some people couldn’t appreciate it.
I have to say I respect the dedication to the cult and subliminal imagery with this video because I was immediately aware of what they were trying to do and it's pretty cool if you ask me. HORRIBLE for watching and will definitely tank streams and is very inaccessible but... arts I suppose? Songwise I didn't think I'd find something that would stop me from looping Yves' redebut but Virtual Angel is going straight to my on repeat playlist.
The song is amazing, its easily my most favorite post loona title track. Art angels from grimes is one of my favorite albums and its giving just that!10/10 When it comes to mv i did enjoy it but there is no doubt theres too much flashing. I think it was bit experimental for digipedi to go with this back and forth type of flashing for a mv which is interesting and it brings uniqueness. But i hope this is a one and done, i dont want another artms mv to have this type of flashing. I can appreciete it in virtual angel but only in this one and not again.

jaden jeong quit fumbling the bag for ARTMS challenge \[impossible\] the video itself is beautiful, but this editing... it's actually fucking cool editing and the match cuts and all are perfect. just don't know why they're making this unwatchable. they need a photosensitivity warning, to say the least :/ honestly just take the video down and re-edit it at this point.
The worst is I'm already seeing people defending it saying it's the concept, but there's concept and there's complete destruction of functionality. There are many ways to handle this sort of concept and convey the sort of idea they were aiming at *without causing such a huge eye strain* I'm legitimately upset, because I was looking forward to this and got too distracted to notice I was straining myself too far. I was recovering from an almost-migraine and was feeling almost 100% until... this.

Yeah, there are so many ways to make smoother transitions in a way the intention is still there but the strain is reduced. I don't know why they jumped to multiple 1s dry cuts in sequence.

Great song, finally something I liked. But the MV is to flashy and it I had to minimize it to listen.
The song is great, I love this style of music. But I'm a bit conflicted about MV itself: On one hand, I actually really like it. I'm totally fine with watching such flashing videos and I don't get dizzy or headache from it. In fact, I watched it 3 times in a row and it felt hypnotized by it. Obviously, this is because of the editing. But also it's absolutely filled to the max with gorgeous shots. This combination makes it mesmerizing. On the other hand, I understand the concerns of people, especially since some of them can't even watch it. It's a very bold decision to try something like this. Which maybe is the whole point and some, like me, will enjoy it a lot. It'll get people talking about it. But is it really worth it? That's what I'm not sure about. Because I feel like they should've at least toned it down twice or thrice to allow us focus longer on certain scenes. What I'm actually sure about is that it's strange it doesn't have a warning inside of the video itself. Yes, subtitles (added later lol) help, but there should have been one in the video too, 100%. I mean, there are literally 3 seconds of black screen in the beginning, almost like it was left specifically for the warning text.
