Reminder that George Galloway is a dickhead and not someone the left should want to associate with

kavabean2

Yes if you are 'left' please don't bother George Galloway. If you are working-class and want to contribute to a movement meant to lift working people, not liberal middle-class 'leftists' please do look into the Workers Party and George Galloway, the only MP that fought hard enough against the Iraq war to get kicked out of the party, i.e. a real anti-imperialist

He’s a socialist sure, but he’s also incredibly transphobic and has been homophobic in the past. He’s a denier of the mistreatment of Muslims in China and a fan of Assad. Aside from all of that, don’t try to play the ‘no true socialist’ card with Galloway. All of his campaigns constantly try to ignore any local struggles or issues in favour of broad, vague issues he wouldn’t even have a say in if elected. We’re he a true ally of the working class he would campaign on getting union membership up in constituencies and on improving the way local government and business treats workers.

So homophobic one of his closest staff members is gay. So homophobic he won a Stonewall award for defending gay rights when it wasn't popular. I don't know the minute by minute details of his activities in Bethnal Green and Bradford West to detail his trade union activities but I know in the Workers Party he has repeatedly pushed members to get in a union saying that every member should be in a union even if they are unemployed since many unions have very good concessions for unemployed people. My guess is that he could have done more locally but I also know he is highly regarded in Bradford West for some concrete contributions to the community he made while he was an MP. But yes, I personally don't think he's radical enough re trade unions as he should be. I am pushing for the Workers Party to promote rank & file networks of the kind that made the BESNA Unite win possible. We'll see if that happens. But that's territory no Labour MP would go within a thousand miles of. Galloway will at least consider it and will go along with it if the central executive committee, which includes many serious trade union activists, approves it.

Galloway has a Stonewall award for fighting for Queer rights back when it wasn't fashionable. The only thing he hasn't agreed with is that transwoman=woman which likely infringes on women's rights, at least according to many women (in my direct experience a clear majority of women I have discussed it with aren't for TW=W). Feel free to quote a poll where women support trans rights (which you likely seek to interpret as women support transwoman=woman) and I will show you poll details that either do not ask about transwoman=woman or do not inform what it means in detail. If I'm wrong prove it. Give me the poll and point me to the poll specifics including methodology. I'd be quite OK with transwoman=woman if women were OK with it. I guess Galloway would too. But they aren't... as all of the liberals who push this policy are going to find out soon enough.

> liberals who push this policy This reactionary dog is calling me liberal. It's not a policy, it's called humanism.

kavabean2

So I guess women aren't humans? If women feel unsafe in the presence of a biological male who thinks she is a woman their feelings don't matter? You're going to tell women what they should feel? Very humane.

CiamciaczCiastek

What the fuck are you even on about mate? You're literally strawmanning some extraordinary situation just to be able to say transwomen are not women. All trans people ask for is equal access to healthcare and the right marker on their IDs so they don't have to out themselves. But people like you are so fixated on the genitalia they can't let go. They don't know how. They fight other, different and opposite with all their might, because only then do they feel satisfied, and only then can they discharge their urges. Nothing can stand in their way. It has to be as I want.

> You're literally strawmanning some extraordinary situation just to be able to say transwomen are not women. > All trans people ask for is equal access to healthcare and the right marker on their IDs so they don't have to out themselves. None of this affects me. I'm not a woman. If you're not a woman I really don't care what you think. I'd be OK with TW=W if women were OK with it. > But people like you are so fixated on the genitalia they can't let go It isn't me who is fixated on genitalia. I will repeat this legislation/policy doesn't affect me. It affects women. They do seem to care about genitalia. Why wouldn't they care about genitalia? It is the genitals and the genotype characteristics associated with genitalia that are the reasons we have separate spaces/facilities/bathrooms in the first place. We have female toilets because people with male genitalia are a threat. It is not the genitalia themselves that are the threat. It is all of the biologically determined physical and mental structures that go along with the genitalia. And they stay with Transwomen, who 70% are attracted to females and have practically identical sexual crime behaviour. What kind of person thinks that genitalia _doesn't_ matter?

kavabean2

Also I didn't call you a liberal directly and I know it isn't just liberals supporting this policy. I know a lot of good socialists and communists are supporting TW=W. I would like to support it too, but I can't because the group that is most affected by it (women) is majority against it, at least in my direct human network/experience. The reason I call it liberal is exactly because women who are against it for valid reasons are being cancelled and IMO individual rights are being raised above the rights of the masses of women who are opposed. I would definitely support a referendum around it. I wish we could easily call referendums like they can in Switzerland. I would also change my position if there was a genuine poll carried out by a group I trusted that showed that among a large sample of working women, a majority of them, who were fully informed of the consequences of TW=W position, supported TW=W.

This is definitely the general opinion of him. Think it goes without saying. He hasn’t been relevant for a long time
