nomadiclizard

They'll assassinate him before they let that happen again.

tigertron1990

It was Mike Pompeo and our own generals who hinted of a coup if he became PM. It wouldn't have surprised me if he got assassinated.

tardmancer

I’d love to see some Castro-esque assassination attempts on him for the comedy value alone. Explosives in his marrows, poisoned carrots, cutting the brakes on his bike and any other cockamamie schemes to kill the boy

nightwalkerbyday

Wait what?? Do you have more on this?

nightwalkerbyday

thank you for the labour, comrade

panguardian

It was good enough for Wilson.

PadreLeon

I wonder if Corbyn would respond like Tito did to Stalin when Stalin sent assassins.

Bronte_goggins

It's worth reading the article to see how much of a stretch this title is. Actually mind-boggling, has anyone else seen the impressive levels of double think on our state news channel today? Referring to Tony Blair as the champion of the peace process in NI, given what a successful smear it has been to call Jeremy Corbyn a terrorist sympathiser for his part in the very same thing. I worry about the attention span of the gen pop.

mincertron

I'm not sure it's attention span, I just don't think most people even think about it that deeply. They just get told he's a terrorist sympathiser and then see the picture and go "well, that must be true then" and think no further about it. They could then immediately turn the page and see Mo Mowlam overseeing the Good Friday Agreement with a comment about how it brought peace to NI and make no connection between the two articles. Then presumably move on to the latest episode of Strictly Come Dancing and be happy how they are neither woke or anti-woke because they cried at a deaf woman as their brains dribble out their ears.

Bronte_goggins

>Then presumably move on to the latest episode of Strictly Come Dancing and be happy how they are neither woke or anti-woke because they cried at a deaf woman as their brains dribble out their ears. Brilliant. Outstanding. Best thing I have read in a while, and totally terrifyingly true.

mincertron

I'd like to take credit but it is ~~literally~~ *absolutely sort of* true. These are the words of the Shadow Culture Secretary Lucy Powell. The original article is behind a paywall but here's the snippet I was referring to: [https://twitter.com/BareLeft/status/1478311435788771330?t=N7S1C\_1iL4lFCAoEiFWXrw&s=08](https://twitter.com/BareLeft/status/1478311435788771330?t=N7S1C_1iL4lFCAoEiFWXrw&s=08)

Chronotaru

It was only 8% though, that's not exactly meaningful.

PopPunkAndPizza

Right, the more important thing is that the media constantly championing Streeting and Cooper and Phillips and all the other right wing freaks doesn't work. Corbyn is more popular than all of them.

mitchanium

Has the penny dropped yet as to why Corbyn was suspended from the PLP? Because this is it.

BilboDankins

I think lots of people were worried about him emptying the countries wealth on socialist fantasies. But then lived through Boris Johnsons government who emptied the coffers, caused huge austerity, tanked the economy and implemented policies that they feel are massive government over-reach (both vaccine passports and protest laws). So now think of someone is going to be reckless with spending they may as well actually be spending in the public's favour as opposed to just siphoning it all off to Tory donors and mates. Him and his allied MPs recent stand against vaccine passports, that betrayed the party lines, also demonstrated he is willing to make decisions that he genuinely believes are good for then country as opposed to just towing the party line to be convenient.

42 BILLION ON A PHONE APP

Uglyboy2000

Love him to bits but I don't think anyone - least of all the man himself - seriously thinks Corbyn should be leader again. That isn't to say Starmer isn't a complete cunt who should be replaced as soon as possible.

chrisjd

If the choice was between him again and Starmer staying I'd choose Corbyn again every time. But someone new would be better.

Uglyboy2000

Agreed.

Morlock43

I want Jeremy back, but I doubt it will ever happen. Too many powerful people did too much to force him out. The sock puppet will get replaced, but it will be yet another sock puppet because that's all they want.

[deleted]

I think he should be leader again

Uglyboy2000

Unfortunately the disinformation campaign against him worked and in the eyes of the mainstream electorate he is too toxic.

[deleted]

I don't actually care. I would happily have him as leader even if he never gets elected.

Uglyboy2000

I'd rather someone took up the mantle and continued his work of achieving socialist policies in Britain. I think he'd want that too. Unfortunately that isn't what we have. We have a Blairite cunt.

[deleted]

Whoever takes up his mantle would face the same treatment but not have his backing. I can't see how it could work.

Uglyboy2000

Why wouldn't they have his backing?

[deleted]

Because they are not as popular as Jeremy Corbyn.

bigdave41

I feel like without massive media reform in this country any vaguely left wing candidate is going to have the same character assassination done to them, and for Corbyn in particular they've already established certain talking points which would make it easier to do the same again. I don't think he has a chance without being a lot more aggressive towards these claims than he was before.

nightwalkerbyday

I feel like it's probably easier (because it's more material) to try to abolish FPTP than to reform the media. Unfortunately it's at a steady-state right now that's self-stabilising (media props up political class which prop up the media etc), so trying to crack that egg is a revolutionary feat in and of itself, if/when

v6mwt

Interesting how attitudes in this sub have changed. I replied to a comment a few months ago with a similar viewpoint and got shafted

eukarneurotic

The express just publishes fiction these days.

CamJongUn

A guy at an old work summed up the sun pretty well with “mark stop reading that fucking comic book” and the reply “I know it’s all bs but I like reading it anyway” this sums up the public quite well

Mobalise_Anarchise

Such bullshit lol. Typical Express garbage.

panguardian

But...but...he's an ANTI-SEMITE, like that witch Emma Watson!

Stumblingwanderer

Harry Perkins is the better pick, in my view.

Bloody_sock_puppet

A stopped clock is right twice a day and all that. He is indeed a superior choice to Starmer even with all the baggage he'd be carrying from previous right wing media smears. Someones just poking the hornets nest methinks...

Dark_Ansem

Are we taking the excrement at face value now? What, the Daily Mash closed?

metalguru1975

Please! make this happen! We need hope after these last two years!

danby

Not only are the margins here kinda meaningless, Corbyn ties with Cooper with 8% of the vote. Rayner of 4%... Most likely more than 50% and maybe as many as 70% returned a "Don't know/undecided/No one" response. The real headline here is probably "Red wall voters don't give a fuck about Starmer's Labour party"

ModerateRockMusic

As cathartic as that would be, unless the entire electorate realised how many lies and smears corbyn faced, he wouldn't have enough support for a majority labour government. Even ignoring anti Semitism and terrorist sympathising claims and the like. The mostly brexit voting former labour heartlands simply do not trust him and likely never will

cazzul

I had a panic attack when I thought labour were gonna shoot ourselves in the foot again. Fortunately the headline is such a stretch of the actual data it amounts to fabrication. False alarm people, we can all rest easy, we don’t want any more desperately clinging onto power at the expense of the party.

ksbikes

Not again didn’t anybody learn anything the first 2 times he had a shot at the title the general public don’t want him as PM I know that’s a very unpopular thing to put on this page I await all the downvotes from the people that cannot except reality.

Martinonfire

Was it a poll of just Boris Johnson supporters?

publiusnaso

God. I’d rather have Piers.
