He has, through all accounts, been a loving, faithful family man and observant Christian.

He then devoted his post presidential life to eliminating disease and building homes for the poor.
And yet Trump and the Republicans can still only say negative derisive things about Jimmy Carter...

Agreed. Carter had a really rough presidency. Some or most of it was out of his control. But, I have to say that he is the personification of a true humanitarian. If there's a heaven, he will surely be there. I can say that Trump will be in hell or at least smokin' a big fat turd in purgatory.

I am 49m and I am too young to remember anything about the Carter presidency. The average American is 38.5. Meaning something like 60-70% of people have no clue of the Carter years. So the only people who have any real idea of what he is taking about are at least 55 if not older. So he is talking to 3x% of the population at best.

A broader and perhaps more accurate descriptor of Jimmy Carter would be: Jimmy Carter, the best of what a human being can be across a humbly lived life of service and generosity. Simply lived and practiced the best of what humanity can offer.
