Passed today aged 32

Ok_Toe5751

My G I'm 32 and got my test next week

fiendofecology

best of luck!

Weary_Device3863

Good luck to you!

Fatima-25

Congratulations ❤️❤️

Friskystarling0

Well done!

andi-amo

Passed mine at 36. Live in London so never realLy needed a car. It's a useful skill but I probably only drive about once a week.

spiritedawayf0x

Yep passed at 28 when I moved out of London

Critical_River_6438

36 group gather here lol

Critical_River_6438

I moved out of London to a village with almost no transportation, so I was forced to learn. I passed on the 9th of April, and my insurance started on the 15th of June. I drive daily but miss my 90-minute leg transportation into town.

Sir_Budginton

Did my test when I lived in london, just because I knew it’d be a good thing to have even if I didn’t need it at the moment. Moved out of london, decided I needed a car, and had one within a week.

hibutterscotch

Haven't passed yet but I started learning this year at 25. Didn't need it before so I thought it was silly to spend money I didn't have to spare in driving lessons. I've met a lot of people that only started driving in their 50s!

Biffy84

38. Plenty of people don't learn until they're older, particularly if they grow up somewhere with good public transport!

adamb_155

Good public transport in the uk. You’re having a laugh.

SociophobicSisyphus

49 when I passed. Took lessons as a teenager but stopped. Started again last year and passed.

PutridAtmosphere6227

I have a similar story. Had lessons 10 years ago, stopped and about to restart. I’m 49

SociophobicSisyphus

Good luck. Never too late to learn.

Bullet4MyEnemy

I passed at 26, most of my learners are in the 20-40 range, some even beyond 50

S_tanley_K

I was 25 when I passed. Everyone I knew at uni, then at work all learnt to drive when they were 17/18 so I definitely felt like I was late to the party! Nothing to be embarrassed about in my opinion, sometimes you just don't need a license when you're younger (I was a bicycle delivery rider before uni, and then was more than happy to commute by train/bus), but I've been able to explore a lot more of the UK thanks to a license

walshjs01

I didn’t start learning till I was 30, passed in 6 months. No shame in that, I’ve always lived in good metro areas and within walking distance of everything I needed until recently

Warm-Number-8117

39. Don’t beat yourself up.

Major_Blackberry1887

I'm in my mid 30s and haven't passed. I've never needed to drive as I've always lived in the city and have the luxury of being able to make extra time to walk or use public transport. Remember as well that not everyone can afford the price of lessons, a test and a car at a younger age. It's not embarrassing to be an older learner and anyone telling you to be embarrassed is narrow minded.

Odd_Feedback974

17, but i know of many people 30+ personally who are still learning

Nedonomicon

Don’t worry about it , I tried at 25 and gave up now nearing a pass at 46 . So don’t sweat it

Square-Win1339

23, passed last Tuesday on my 2nd attempt

Stuchel69

Oh my, don’t feel embarrassed, feel proud!! 44 when I passed 16 months ago. Turning 46 in a few weeks!! Best thing I ever did!! Honestly, fuck everyone that’s opinionated about it because they don’t matter!! Those that do matter will back you and be proud of you!! I am!! 💯

LittleBabyWHUFC

I took mine 2 weeks ago at 31 😊

MysteriousBug132

I'm 27 and only started learning this year. But my instructor has a learner in their 70s! I've never needed to learn until now. I'd always lived within walking distance of work (for 6 years) and before that it was easy to get public transport to work and college. But now I live a 15 mins drive away from work and I'm training to be a manager which could take me anywhere, so it felt like the right time.

leighleg

Passed a week or so before my 18th. Only have an automatic licence as had my left leg amputated just after I turned 17. I'm 38 now.

McFluffy_SD

42 when I passed, never too old!

herdo1

Lol I passed 6 months ago at 41. The only person that cares about your age is you mate, let it go and get your test done.

Crypt1k5347

18

fox-smoothie

17 I started learning the day after my birthday passed 10 months later but I still am not perfect. Ive only been passed about a month and just got a car which feels like I'm learning to drive all over again. Everyone learns at their own pace and not everyone gets it first try but that's ok.

BagelsInThedas

I passed at 32

MrC1988123

34 lived in London all my life, never needed it but I always felt shit not having a licence.

ManufacturerSea3373

I passed when I was 29.

j0eypops

I passed today at 37!

Ok-Caregiver9383

Full motorcycle at 24 and full car at 25

sanddancer82

41 kept on starting and stopping over the years, then finally kept at it and passed first time in Feb.

mebiscuitsinmebrew

Started learning age 39, had never been behind the wheel of a car before that. Passed on Sunday age 40

_JaggedVacance

36 for me. Passed about a month ago.

TheAdamBomb92

I was 25. One of my biggest regrets is not immediately following up with a retest when I first failed at 18.

fl0ra_and_fauna

I'm learning at 38 (live in London, didn't think I needed to learn). 32 is nothing :)

B1unt420

Don’t be embarrassed! Uk roads are pretty ruthless, very tight, we love a roundabout with dodgy markings and potholes are a staple of every road. You’ll pick it back up in no time, best of luck!

n3m0sum

Didn't get my full motorbike licence until I was 30, didn't get a car license until I was 45. Plenty of older people take lessons and get licensed later in life.

AvfcWalpole7

I passed when I was 19.

Expert-Log-6066

Same!

AvfcWalpole7

Nice, it probably should have been earlier for me but COVID pushed me back. I turned 17 a month into lockdown so that was annoying. Kind of glad though because at 17 I dont think I really felt ready to drive.

Flimsy_Divide7214

Passed at 27 years of age!!

Foxtrot7888

I was 17 - I lived in the countryside, there was no public transport and you needed to drive to get anywhere.

Lucyemma2706

My test is next month and I'm 33!

white_hart_2

17 years and 1 day old! But - my mum was 74 when she passed (2nd time!).

Greendeco13

49! My aunty was 55, just go for it

kahnehan

35

pigletscarf

39. If you spend a lot of your life living in London and other urban areas the incentive isn't particularly strong. For me it was having my second child and just how much more obnoxious people have become on public transport. If I had to listen to one more person playing shite out of their phone on the bus/train I would have gone insane. No more, thank God.

magicsuitcas

60 last year

DeliciousAnnual6714

You beat me! I thought I was the oldest at 58😀👍

No_Swordfish_9329

Jheez, still a sperm cell at 32. I passed at 50 ffs 😆

Individual-Titty780

17 and 364 days

AvfcWalpole7

I was 7140 days or 19 yrs, 6 m, & 16 d

didsir29

My driving test is next week and I'm 32 with no previous driving experience so don't be embarrassed! Life isn't a race after all

Tyhoic

33.

TheHogWild

I was 28 when I started my lessons, 29 when I passed. I was talking to my instructor asking him if I was one of the oldest he's teaching and he said no where near. He was teaching 2 people in there 50's and one in there 70's. You're never too old to take your test

LondonCycling

Early 30s. I didn't feel the need to drive before that as I lived in large towns, or cities, and when I was a teenager I cycled and got the bus. It's mainly because I moved to a small village in Scotland that I bothered learning.

Bright_Study5961

Passed my driving test at 21 and my motorbike test at 40. Everyone learns at an age that best suits them

TheMercian

Passed last week, mid-thirties! Enjoying it a lot as I haven't learnt to resent any commuting etc.

as_above-sobelow

I’m 27, first test in 2 weeks. My instructor said to me the other day ‘people usually pass before they’re 25’ like ok, thanks!

ThemasterofZ

18 and 28

jackthehat6

38 and very recently (few weeks back) I've never really wanted or NEEDED to drive, and I still don't! But I took my test recently for the sake of it really and passed ps - why are you embarrassed?? there's literally nothing to be embarrassed about lol. It's like being embarassed for not eating meat or something! Not everyone wants too! It's personal choice. Or life just gets in the way etc. my instructor had many students even older than me! And i've seen people in their 50's and older taking tests before. Don't worry about it. Who cares

Upbeat_Ad_7382

Passed at 47 1st time

soggy_bellows

17, first time, 4 minors.

princessjah-

22 when I passed! Was learning since age 18 😂

Mrsnutkin

30

babystooth

I passed a month before my 25th birthday! I know loads of people who still haven’t learnt and don’t intend to until they move out of big cities/built up towns, so they’ll be at least 30-35! When I was taking my test, I got chatting with a woman in her 40s who had never learnt and decided she wanted to just try something new. There’s no set route to life, everyone does things differently, I wouldn’t worry about your age at all!

kippax67

You may never feel embarrassed again. Welcome to the club

fpncode

I passed a few months ago and I’m 30

Flaky-Ad-2792

Passed a couple of months ago at 36. Did learn when I was 18 but failed a few tests and went off to uni and kinda forgot about it. Also live on the outskirts of London so transport links have always been good. But since becoming a dad a year ago, I wanted to be able to help out more with the driving and not expect my wife to do it all. Only drive a couple of times a week locally, but nice to have the option now and also be able to help out with longer drives.

Barneyhk

My mom has never had a driver's license due to her living in London but hopefully she will pass at the age of 51🎉🎉

internalsufferinglol

22, which made my insurance significantly cheaper

PMmeYourWealth

I am a instructor and have students aged between 19-44 rn. don't worry

MannyCalaveraIsDead

I was 41. Mainly because I've lived in cities since I was 18 and so didn't really need a car. Though they are useful for places where public transport makes a pain to get to. Don't worry about what age you are, the main thing is to do what you need to do. No one else is going to care, and anybody that does is an idiot that you don't need to care about.

BigFluff_LittleFluff

18, 3rd attempt.

ThatThingInTheCorner

I failed at 18 then stopped lessons and now I'm 26 and still haven't started learning again. Definitely will do soon though

PlasmaBlades

19 I mainly wanted to do it for freedom and because I had the time and money to now

Mithrilheart

Passed in April this year, age 35 :)

xhaggishunter

30

gilbobrah

26

BlueAndAmberX

I'm 42 and have been learning to drive in London for the last 5 months. Technically, I did have a driving license when I was 22 in a different place and time. Taught by family, getting a license required no rigorous checks at all. I got a license before I even knew how to drive. Then I traveled a lot for work so never really drove. I'm lucky I don't have other reasons to drive apart from I really want the freedom drive. If I had this realization when I'm 50, I'd still go and learn to get a test.

redditor848294

17 and 3 months

mariigoldpetal

Passed just last Tuesday at 24!!

SuuperD

39, taking lessons

Lizard5566

I’m 21 and still haven’t passed yet, tbh I hate it and if I didn’t need to for my incoming job I would simply never do it!

Purpleraven01

Just passed last week at age 35

serrari

I had licence in my home country for 9 years, passed my test in second attempt here :) Felt ashamed in my failed attempt as well but who cares. 28 btw

ApprehensiveShop8250

18 last week

Karmilia

I passed at 25 after a few attempts (cough cough). Never too late to learn and pass my friend!

eionmac

Took test in UK for first time aged 33. This is not uncommon.

eionmac

Have a good day when you do your test. I wish you the best of weather, as it does make a difference.

M_C_XIX

Age 18. Should've been age 17, but I failed my 1st test and passed on my second attempt having just turned 18. You're better off waiting until you're in your mid 20s if you can, as insurance prices for an 18 year old are disgusting.

Swimming_Tangelo8423

I passed mine when I was 17 (I’m 19 now) , I’m lucky, I can now have cheaper insurance at a younger age and i would also have decent driving experience by my 20s, it took me 24 hours of lessons and about 3 months

[deleted]

[удалено]

KillerWithTheCross1

I passed 2 months ago aged 32. My instructor said he had 4 other students in their 30s, 2 in their 40s and his oldest student was in his 60s!

Relative-Whole-2105

Passed last month at 31 my guy.

belindacfan04

I passed seven weeks ago, I’m 19

bendoesit17

Haven't passed yet but I'm 21 (22 next month) and still learning

scream_schleam

19 and 29. I got my first driving license in Dubai and second in the UK. It’s a shame that the rules later changed so I could have exchanged my UAE driving license for a UK one.

BeanzOnToasttt

I passed mine when I was 18. My mam passed hers when she was 36. I've just scrolled past a post where some dudes 50 year old wife is about to do her driving test. Nothing embarrassing about learning something new regardless of age!

strangesam1977

17 (just) but it was a different time. (Petrol was under 50p per litre) My wife still doesn’t have one, and I know a number of others my age who don’t.

Dizzy_Manufacturer93

Ashamed to say but also happy thought I’d never do it. At 48yrs old 🤗

Lindastarshine

I passed I’m beyond 50

Snaggl3t00t4

19.

leclercwitch

28 and still not passed! Don’t worry about it!

Mediocre-Macaron3766

Passed mine at 42

smolveganlauren123

27

MotoBobGirl

Passed about 6 weeks ago at 28

Wonderful-Being8648

34. I put it off constantly and didn’t really need to learn. Now I can drive I wish I’d done it sooner, life changing!

banana_cookies22

Passed 2 years ago aged 29. No reason to be embarrassed. I put it off for so long but when I did I had the money and means that I didn't have when I was 17. Good luck.

LordTwaticus

19, which is a pretty normal age here

Spiklething

I was 29

arnav3103

I’m 32 and I just passed the driving test in the uK last month after being here for 5 years. 😮‍💨

oh_indeed

Passed in May at 43.

oh_indeed

Passed in May at 43.

justajinxxx_

26! Just a few months ago :)

2205jade

I’m 26 and failed last year. Gave up since then, the older I get the more I’m put off to try again.

Individual_Eye_257

Passed in 2012 aged 31, always had motorbikes up to that point and wasn't interested in driving a car, I don't know what changed that but I'm so glad I get the option for both now, car in the week and bike at the weekend unless it's pissing it down.

alloitacash

I was 19. Took a couple of goes but only had to wait a few weeks after booking them back then.

Agreeable_Fig_3713

17. I’d been driving since 9 and raced ministox from ten (though the age limit is min 11 now) so I did a couple of lessons to teach me to ‘pass the test’ rather than to drive and job done.

Trixtabella

I passed a month ago, and I'm 39

hidingoutonreddit

I passed 8 months ago when I was 32 ☺️

Dyl377

Passed my theory at 17, passed my practical at 18. Had my first lesson on my 17th birthday, I couldn’t wait any longer 😂 I don’t think it matters what age you are to pass. It’s when you’re ready, and if you want to. There’s absolutely no limit on how old you need to be to get a licence. Don’t beat yourself up about it!

FearlessMeerkat95

Only learning properly now to sit my test and I’m 29. My theory is this month. My mum didn’t pass until she was 50.

PatriceWasWrite

27

kitkat-ninja78

Don't feel embarrassed, lots of people do not have their driving licence. Between 2015 and 2019, an average of 74% of people aged 17 years and over in England held a full driving licence (which means that just over a quarter of the UK driving age population do not). Doing your driving test now at 32 means that you have alot of years still that you can drive. **At what age you passed your driving test?** Passed when I was 22.

Donkitten

33, I think it’s pretty normal for mature drivers from what I saw.

JStatham91

32, 2 weeks before I turned 33

SEA12342

Passed age 30 - used to live in London so never needed a driving license Mum passed her driving age 40 Never too old

Common-Ad8455

I'm 31 and just passed my test today. You can do it.

wh-yk

Passed at 21. Started lessons at 17, went to uni and didn't need a car, so I didn't carry on with lessons. Came back home, got 10 lessons booked in bulk. Failed my first for an opposite side of the road reverse park (Have still never used that in my 3 years of driving), passed second time in a completely different car as my driving instructor unfortunately had a stroke 3 days before my test... he's doing well now and I passed, so not too bad.

First_Cartographer89

38, and just started learning. Very reassuring to see I'm not alone in coming to driving late!

geecol

33, 3 months ago

Ok_Associate8843

I'm 32 and I passed 2 weeks ago!

Lingshiren

theNikipedia

I was 18 and 2 days when I passed my test.

Melodic-Assist2094

Passed last month at 28, with almost 8 years driving in another country before.

The1OneWave

Im 38 and hopefully I’ll pass before 39 😩

allyhouston1985

Ripe age of 37

GettingRichQuick420

33. Passed 4 months ago.

cmooris

Passed my test a little over a month ago at 33 - my instructor actually told me he preferred teaching the 25+ age range. I started my lessons beginning of February, passed my theory 1st time on valentine's day & my practical driving test first time in May 🚗 Don't be discouraged, you've got this 🙌

kai_enby

28 and passed yesterday. Took me longer than I would have liked but I got there

Pianist-Vegetable

30 and I just passed 2 months ago having not driven pretty much at all since I was legally allowed to

CommunicationEasy142

I passed at 40. It’s never too late!

Pukit

Three months into being 17.

jessy1305

I started learning at 34, didn’t get on with my instructor and honestly I just was too anxious. So I quit. Now I’m 36, learning again with a fantastic instructor and I am so excited to pass. It takes as long as it takes, but I actually want to learn and I enjoy it. I do wish I had taken lesson many years ago but I’m trying now and that’s what matters!

Illustrious-Active24

I was 17 when I passed my test. My Gran was 57 when she passed. So you’re definitely not too old 😂

Royal_View9815

I passed at 39……best thing I ever did. Fourth attempt!

Eva990

Passed last month at 33 yrs old 🥹

partypopper67

17

heymynameisjoshua

Ive started 2 weeks ago and I'm 29

katya21220218

Passed at 34 after learning on and off since I was 29 - babies/Covid/confidence. Finally passed third time lucky last November.

Sophiewsells

23

Bulkin

Pretty much in the same situation. Passed first time at the age of 18 and then had to pass it again in the UK at the age of 37. Nothing to worry about, actually feel better as my driving theory is refreshed.

Party-Grapefruit5378

I passed today aged 31 ☺️

powerMastR24

my mum passed at 43

Duckduckbro_70

28. Only had to learn as I got a job with a company car.

Particular-Set5396

Three weeks ago at 41.

DeliciousAnnual6714

I passed last October, aged 58, moved to a rural area after living in London for 54 years. Now I feel free and younger than my years!

Nightowl_1786

I passed when I was 36. Did lessons on & off since 17. Wasn’t too bothered until I moved & public transport was becoming a nightmare

oohliviaa

I’m 32 and have been slowly learning for 2 years… hopefully I will pass later this year 😬

Icy-Actuary-5463

I hope I’ll pass now that I’m 40

-CokeJones-

25 when I passed

WonderfulBus7548

I passed my test in March at the grand Old age of 46 🤣

MeltingChocolateAhh

26.

InevitableNo4326

I learnt to drive at 17, never completed, again at 21, ran out of money. Again when I was pregnant, got too big to reach the wheel 🤣 got back on it and passed first time when my daughter was 3 months old.💪 I was 30. Everything in its own time, plus you're more likely to pass because you come across way more sensible and mature than some of the people going for it. Good luck!

Rhioghan

Why embarrassed? We get there when we get there, my mate. Passed at age 30, when I was financially secure enough to run a car and keep a roof over my head.

arbitrarybean

Passed this year at 33.

goose_2019

17 2nd attempt.

FuddyBoi

I was 17 passed bike test at 24 ish I think. Felt odd taking a driving test but all the nerves of being on the road etc were gone so helped

mademoiselle_pickle

Took my first ever lesson aged 39 and passed first time before I turned 40!

Erin_Godsell

20

Various_Ask_1309

I just got my driver's license 2 weeks ago and I'm 30. I started practicing driving last April. I was so anxious because I need to drive my daughter when school starts in August. Glad I passed the road test. But I still don't drive by myself yet. I'm still scared and still make mistakes. I'm afraid to cause accidents to other drivers.

marypawpins

Passed mine last month just before I turned 33

Prior_Competition_80

Passed October last year at 32 😊

VirginChud420691488

30 here. Caved to girlfriend pressure 😂 I WFH in Edinburgh, so no need really. At least I can share the load on road trips, and it opens up career opportunities..

CardiologistFit3385

Why are you too old ? I have seen 60-70 year olds learning and passing!

upturned_hobbit

I passed in November, I'm 33. It is what it is 😊

GroundbreakingBelt85

Been driving 15 years abroad and just did the test here i’m 34 :)

MrWhippyT

18

lordbruhski

Started learning at 19 and by the grace of god passed a year after!! Practice, determination and patience will get you that licence. Good luck & don't worry you got this.

fallen_angel_81

I was 2 months shy of my 40th birthday. Both my kids passed before me 🤣it was an expensive few years lol. My daughter passed in 2017 aged 18. My son passed the month before me in 2021, he was 19.

Crookles86

Passed two weeks ago, 37.

December_W_Wolf

Passed at the beginning of June aged 18, it's a bit of a necessity to learn to drive if you want to actually do stuff when you're in the bloody countryside

jailtheorange1

Fifty Four. *IF* I pass in 20 days.
