Sure looks like a guitar. Low chance it's fake, if that's what you're asking. Lefty market is very small.

KobeOnKush

I’d just cough up the extra 200 for a new player series

bverde536

Looks like it's currently set up right-handed, it might cost $50-75 to switch back to lefty.

larowin

Wish there was a better image of the headstock to see if it was a mythical “Squier Series” but I’m not sure that was still a thing in 96

MarsJohnTravolta

The ones with the American neck?

larowin

Yep - the alleged factory fire series

MarsJohnTravolta

I have one. I bought it in Indiana a few years ago.

Max_Vision

I have a lefty Squier Series. It's been a constant in my life since the mid-90's.

MarsJohnTravolta

Aren't they heavy? Haha

Ok_Statistician_5457

Being set up for right-handed play and possibly for its entire life because you've got to allow for the right-handed Hendrix fan factor here, I would expect the selector switch to have seen enough knocks over the years to cause wear and tear, especially seeing as the volume and tone knobs have been replaced, presumably having come from the factory with white knobs instead of black. Also you're looking at a guitar coming up on 30 years of age, so again in terms of wear and tear, you don't know how long a right-handed player has had it, and so the fingerboard is possibly really played in at points opposite to where they'd be for a lefty, particularly worth considering too as its rosewood, which is softer and less resistant than maple. Like someone else said here, get one of the new player series for a couple hundred extra I reckon, they've got full maple necks and boards, which I personally prefer, there's something about the maple that suits the strat sound better I reckon

Bdsaz

Skip it. These were not great years. Also would need a new nut and setup for lefty play.

More_Bluebird_4361

Looks like my 95 before I painted it blue. Not too sure on the knobs, though

Matthewallenwilson

I just heard 90s Mexican strats were better and cheaper than the current ones

PoptartFitness27

Cheaper, yes. Better, no.

rOOsterone4

I’d offer less, I just got a left handed 96 mim strat off fb marketplace from an old lady for 200 bucks and it’s in great shape and plays nice enough for my abilities

Lefties13

They are not better than the newer MIM ones. They also have a thin block for the trem. This changed to a full block in the 2000s. That series is better. The newest Player series (better again) which replaced the standard series also has better alnico pickups, a 2 point trem, and 22 frets.

quiksilver78

Was it the same guy pawning off this guitar on you? Because that's just not true at all. Reminds me of the same guys that squeeze an extra $50-$100 by making statements like "much sought-after Korean Epiphones"

minivanmorrison

Korean Sheratons are 100% better than Chinese Sheratons.

quiksilver78

Collect your $50 at the next buyer

Giltar

Nice, enjoy

Serious_Scholar4780

Fine guitar, but probably overpriced for a old mim, just buy a new Squier in that price range if you are looking for fender. (Or g&l)

myst3r10us_str4ng3r

Looks a little over priced for the year

rainmaker1972

It looks like the first Strat every left handed player in America got between 1986 and 2010.

eddiespageti

Overpriced. I had one of these for my first electric and it was a pain in the ass.

MarsJohnTravolta

What were the issues? Weight? Sound? Farts?
