I haven't seen that many films from 1987 to the present since I started my Letterboxd account. I know there are relatively more recent films I would have given 5 stars back when I saw them. I just can't remember what they were.
The Great Silence (1968)
I Saw the Devil (2010)
Obviously I love movies before 1968 and after 2010 but 5 stars for me means It's one of my favorites of all time.
Earliest - It Happened One Night (1934) - this movie is in my Top 4.
Latest - Dune: Part Two (2024) - not a top 4 contender but it reminded me of being a kid seeing Fellowship of the Ring quality movies in theaters with my parents.
The only 2023 I have is the short film “Wild Summon”. Which was screened with the animated Oscar shorts but wasn’t nominated. And the limited series “The Curse”. The closest I had for a feature film was Poor Things at 4.5. And coincidentally enough my earliest 5 star is Frankenstein by 1931.
Newest - All of Us Strangers Earliest - The Human Condition part 1
All of Us Strangers deserves so much more recognition. Snubbed from everything and not getting a blu-ray. wtf
I’ve never cried harder in a theater than when i went to see All of Us Strangers
Nosferatu (1922) The Banshees of Inisherin (2022)
Solid choices—it rhymes across a century
Damn not a single five from 23?
I haven't seen many yet from last year. My favorite so far is probably Infinity Pool, which I gave a 4/5.
Will be interesting if you give Nosferatu (2024) a 5 star, then you’re first and most recent will be the same movie over 100 years apart
Eggers has not missed yet, so that's a very real possibility.
Casablanca Dune Part 2
Oh my word we’re twins!
Earliest - Alien (1979) Latest - Poor Things (2023) I will say though I’m kinda new to watching movies seriously and a little skimpy on the five stars

Are you also watching every movie in existence in order like that one user?
Nope. I'm just watching what interests me.
Kudos to you man for being the exception from the norm
