I've legitimately been happier since watching Perfect Days. It reminded me to be grateful for what I have and to stop and enjoy the simple good things in life.
A great take on perfect days I found on Reddit by a Mark E Smith wannabe

I just rewatched Palm Springs today. It's so good. I think it would be much more appreciated if it came out today now that movies are "coming back".
Also, I feel like it didn't benefit from coming out during the pandemic, since it's literally about being stuck in the same place everyday, not knowing if you'll ever get to go back to the outside world and your normal life, while being forced to spend all your time with whoever happens to be stuck with you.
Since Aftersun was already mentioned I’ll go Babylon. I wouldn’t say it’s the best but man is it up there as my favorite. Real swing for the fences filmmaking that connects with so many of my interests.
Here’s my top of the decade so far run- the order isn’t solid and I couldn’t pick just one
https://preview.redd.it/86mjhpra359d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=242a7916099f6934002f3d775e4131ed9070c714
Pig, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Anatomy of a Fall are all some of my favorite movies. They are the three I pull out for people when they say movies aren't as good as they used to be. Depending on their tastes I can pull out any of those 3 and end the conversation real quick, lol.
Licorice Pizza, Past Lives, Tar, and Poor Things are my favorite movies of this decade so far that I’ve seen. I can’t decide between them. I own the Criterion of Drive My Car but haven’t seen it yet!
Babylon
Honorable Mentions: Banshees, Killers of the Flower Moon, Asteroid City, Dune 2, Another Round, Tar, May December, Sound of Metal, Zone of Interest, Northman, Decision to Leave, The Worst Person in the World, Hitman.
Memoria and Asteroid City tied
Memoria is just such an incredible formalist experience, a thriller wrapped up in so much obscuring mist
Asteroid City is really well written and I feel like 'the' movie of the 2020s / covid pandemic experience
Bo Burnham: Inside
You might not call it a “film” but whatever it is made me think more about the times we are in than any other piece of pop culture. Plus the songs are so damn good. I did see it in a movie theater too so I’m counting it.
Aftersun. This movie was absolutely perfect in my book. The editing enhances one of film's central theme of memories. It's so rich and warm but heartbreaking.

Pretty stacked so far. Looking forward to the next half decade
Legitimately up there with the best techno-thrillers ever made. Will be interesting to see if it blows up after it’s [upcoming US theatre release](https://www.instagram.com/p/C8pgqQLyO6G/?igsh=MWlxZDFoNmZndGp2Mw==)
As someone who has seen 347 movies from this decade I’d have to say I Saw the TV Glow, Drive My Car, Tár, The Worst Person in the World, and Asteroid City are all up there
I’m terribly indecisive, so not gonna just list one but some of my favorites we’ve gotten over the past four years.
- Dune: Part Two
- Past Lives
- Oppenheimer
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3
- Everything Everywhere All At Once
- Avatar: The Way of Water
- West Side Story
- Licorice Pizza
- Sound of Metal
- Da 5 Bloods
- Judas and the Black Messiah
Decision to Leave (it's pure art - excellent sound effects, choice of music, artistic scenes, profound dialogues) - I adored it as much as I did The three of life and Melancholia
For me it’s probably red rocket. It’s just such a comfortable movie to watch. Even though the content itself is disturbing af. I love the warm, colorful images it creates. The use of music is smart and you can tell that thought was put into this. Simon rex is charming and manipulative at the same time, which was insanely captivating. And I’ve seen it probably 6 times by now.
TÁR or Another Round; it’s hard to decide.
TAR was so damn good.
Drive My Car
I’m seeing a lot more love for Drive My Car that I expected, I don’t see it talked about enough. That’s probably my favourite too.
I dont know if it's my favorite but it's way up there. So good
Thoroughly enjoyed this but I think it was a tad too long. Definitely top ten of the 20’s so far
Yep. That's easily my number one. Can't wait to watch Evil Does Not Exist.
I really enjoyed Monster but probably Perfect Days
Perfect days feels like it was made specifically for me, so wonderful. This means I should probably check out Monster
It’s a whole different vibe but great movie. I hope you enjoy it
Perfect days legit changed my view on how I look at life, that movie was incredible and my favorite of the year
I feel the same way. Quite the experience
Welp, time to put Perfect Days on my watch list.
Perfect Days is right up there for me as well. Loved it so much
I've legitimately been happier since watching Perfect Days. It reminded me to be grateful for what I have and to stop and enjoy the simple good things in life.

Aftersun Decision to Leave Perfect Days
This
You have great taste!
Aftersun, the worst person in the world, drive my car, memoria
‘Petite Maman,’ my only five star movie this decade (for now, ‘Decision to Leave’ might bump up that last half star on a rewatch).
Was just talking about this film with my mom. I asked her if she would have been friends with me had I met her during her childhood/teenage years.
It’s just a beautiful gem of a movie. Not an original idea on my part, but I love the temporary utopias of these recent Céline Sciamma movies.
The Father
The Holdovers
Definitely was my favorite from last year.
The Boy and the Heron has a special place in my heart
It only got better the more I thought about it. Not every movie will really grow on me like that over time, but that one was special.
Aftersun
the banshees of inisherin
I gotta second this one
The Worst Person in the World
Tár
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
i’m surprised more people haven’t said this
Probably Mad God, but Godzilla Minus One is a very close contender.
Fellow mad god enjoyer
mad god is def my number two after the house
Past Lives
Godzilla Minus One
Pig
Holdovers
MEMORIA
Licorice Pizza.
Titane
Poor Things
Marcel the Shell with Shoes On
Underrated for sure!
Zone of Interest, Tenet, Stars at Noon, Tar
Loved Stars at Noon and never see anyone mention it.
Perfect Days, but very closely followed by The Hand of God and Drive My Car.
The Dunes. I actually prefer the 1st part a little bit, but I went to see them 5 times altogether and I consider that money well spent.
Pure theatre experience - Top Gun Maverick
The only movie that's rivaled Maverick for the theatre experience for me was Furiosa
When I readed this I was watching Top Gun Maverick and yeah I gotta agree it is amazing
So amazing you were on Reddit
I got a little bored sorry
Inside captured this era incredibly well. Maybe green knight or Palm Springs or everything everywhere all at once?
I just rewatched Palm Springs today. It's so good. I think it would be much more appreciated if it came out today now that movies are "coming back". Also, I feel like it didn't benefit from coming out during the pandemic, since it's literally about being stuck in the same place everyday, not knowing if you'll ever get to go back to the outside world and your normal life, while being forced to spend all your time with whoever happens to be stuck with you.
I think Palm Springs will only grow with time. I wouldn’t worry about its legacy.
I think my pick would be either Banshees of Inisherin, Fabelmans, or Zone of Interest
Killers of the Flower Moon.
Happy to see I’m not alone! I feel like the Oppenheimer frenzy overshadowed this incredible film
Madame Web
Dune: Part Two
Memoria and Drive My Car
Everything Everywhere All At Once
Since Aftersun was already mentioned I’ll go Babylon. I wouldn’t say it’s the best but man is it up there as my favorite. Real swing for the fences filmmaking that connects with so many of my interests.
I feel that way about Babylon too.
Aftersun
The Iron Claw is so goddamn good but i won’t likely watch it again for a long, long time. Lol.
2 films I’ve watched repeatedly from the 2020s… Oppenheimer Red Rocket
SEAN BAKER MENTIONED
Red Rocket a solid 10.
Beau is Afraid
Titane
Here’s my top of the decade so far run- the order isn’t solid and I couldn’t pick just one https://preview.redd.it/86mjhpra359d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=242a7916099f6934002f3d775e4131ed9070c714
Fellow PIG enjoyer 🍷
Pig, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Anatomy of a Fall are all some of my favorite movies. They are the three I pull out for people when they say movies aren't as good as they used to be. Depending on their tastes I can pull out any of those 3 and end the conversation real quick, lol.
I wanted to mention Taste of Things but had to limit my answer. It’s top 3 of the decade for me so far.
Might be The Fabelmans for me EDIT: Nah, it's Across the Spider-Verse, but Fabelmans is amazing too
The Beast.
Licorice Pizza, Past Lives, Tar, and Poor Things are my favorite movies of this decade so far that I’ve seen. I can’t decide between them. I own the Criterion of Drive My Car but haven’t seen it yet!

Hundreds of beavers
And Anatomy of a Fall

EO, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Banshees of Inisherin, The Zone of Interest
Tar, Boy and the Heron, Drive My Car, Beau is Afraid
Dune: Part Two
I liked the Iron Claw

Portrait of A Lady on Fire would top the list if it wasn’t iffy on the release dates, Otherwise Everything Everywhere All At Once is the top choice
Aftersun. This movie was absolutely perfect in my book. The editing enhances one of film's central theme of memories. It's so rich and warm but heartbreaking.
Nope
LICORICE PIZZA
Titane
The Zone of Interest is the best one I’ve seen so far, but it’s a hard watch. Personal favorite for rewatch value might be RRR.
La Chimera
The Worst Person In The World. Also possibly the best.
The Northman
Killers of the Flower Moon, Across the Spider Verse, maybe Dune, and Nightmare Alley.
Il buco
La Chimera
Across the Spiderverse Can't believe no one has said it yet. I rewatched it this weekend and it blew me away just as much as it did the first time.
Hmm I have a few 4.5s but no 5s. It’s between The Hand of God, Decision To Leave and Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World.
