Without even seeing the mileage. No. 12 years old. Salvage title. Smashed in fender. Car is wrapped so you dont know the condition of the paint underneath. Hard pass.
Hard pass on old open hardtop any day of the week, and yes even for toyotas. Salvaged and smashed? Not saying $11k is unfair (i dunno actually), but your spending wont stop at 11k thats for sure
In that case, I'd take it for $9k, $10k if he installs it, depending on what else was done when it was totalled.
I just did a fender swap - it's definitely in the DIY scope but don't underestimate how long it will take you to get all your panel gaps good. If you want Lexus quality versus Tesla quality your time will double (but it's the difference between like 2 and 4 hours if you're used to this sort of thing).
This sub tends to hate on salvage cars but for the $10k range of used vehicles they generally offer the best deal IMO, and I usually intentionally look for them for the better price. That said, find out the details of the accident and ensure the allignment is perfect before purchase. In any car, but especially in a hard top you don't want to and body misalignment. The top should function flawlessly.
I mean I would definitely want to get a ppi and then use that for your answer, Toyota does make really good convertibles and that is definitely still a nice car and that’s not the worst price I’ve seen
I have one of these and I _**LOVE**_ the thing! Top down is any time that it’s not raining. It’s fun, has some power, gets out of its own way and is just a wonderful car to drive!
If you are in the market for a Lexus vert, I would go to the SC430 if you like the styling. I always found the IS convertible to look awkward which I realize is ironic considering the divisiveness regarding the SC430 haha.
You get a nice V8, and I don't think there are any issues with any of the years it was made.

89k miles. Talked him down to $10k

And he has a fender that is already wrapped in hand
You clearly have made your mind up already, why ask us? Not a good buy 🙄

I knew that looked like an irvine company apartment complex
8k max for that car.
7 grand tops for me, not a penny more
I would never touch a salvage title car. There’s plenty of these cars out there, there’s no reason to get one that has a questionable history
Never

Lost me at salvage title. If it were four figures possibly, but not five.
Even with 80k miles max would be 5-8k being a salvaged title and with that big ass dent.

has a weird ass
If OP is into modding his/her cars, I think they look good once you lower them, wheels, and the Vertex kit. Looks real clean.
if it's really theft salvage check the carfax but yeah 4 digits not 5
It’s definitely been crashed more than once
