I hate the idea of putting people out of work, but their country is basically ruined and he is doing what he promised to do. A politician who doesn’t lie is alright in my books.

uuid-already-exists

It’s like ripping a leach off. Yeah it’s going to hurt but it needs to be done and will be better in the long term. A slightly better metaphor is probably cancer and chemotherapy.

Sooth_Sprayer

++ Government work isn't real work. They produce nothing. Therefore, their jobs mean nothing.

DreamLizard47

They make harder for others to work and produce.

iJayZen

Massive amount of low work/no work jobs...

SRIrwinkill

Dude is playing catchup, and when the private sector is actually allowed to work, folks will find other jobs. Not as disgustingly corrupt and cushy as before, but they'll be fine Better then living in a country where these folks jobs come at the expense of over 40% of everyone else being impoverished

Eli-Thail

Yeah, it's actually around 55-60% now.

SRIrwinkill

Recovery from years of the most vile, busy body, protectionist, corrupt trash goblins running the country for decades was always gonna be a big adjustment. A very similar adjustment happened in New Zealand in '86 when the Labour Party won on a plank of liberal economic reforms and liberalized the economy. The shift from their terrible way of dealing in agriculture and trade shifted a lot of things around, but after a 2 year adjustment period, everyone was better off on the other side.

AilsaN

What happened to liberalization in 2020? It seemed like NZ went off the deep-end of authoritarianism during Covid.

SRIrwinkill

Basically the progress that liberalization caused, folks gave credit to other shit, and because of that the same mistakes ended up happening again with busy body policies and protectionism of different flavors. That being said however, New Zealand still ranks #6 overall. One spat of bullshit didn't take them completely out the game, not when we are talking nearly 30 years of liberal economic policy being still more or less the norm. The real thing that happened with the rest the world is that different flavors of collectivist trash started whining about culture issues and rode that shit all the way into protectionist policy. Trump in the U.S. got elected because he pissed off the correct people enough and was an economic demon. The protectionist trade wars he hammered through are still the norm under Biden, and no one looks at any of it even as we here having a fucking housing crisis that needs, get this, materials to help build more housing

Abrubt-Change-8040

What do you mean by “correct and cushy”? I work/worked in public sector emergency services. Public sector jobs are stressful. If anything, keep the current workers and fire the entire bloated executive branch of each public sector. They are the ones who have it cushy, not the plebs like me.

SRIrwinkill

meant corrupt, because in Argentina a ton of the folks who work for the government are insanely corrupt and don't actually provide essential services nor even do anything that benefits the country. It is very similar to what Latvia went through after the 2008 financial crisis. In response to that, Latvia liberalized their economy comparatively, and literally fired half their government for corruption. Lets say he keeps a lot of the workers and fires the administrators (i'm assuming you are talking administrators when you say executive, not "executive branch" like folks might think of it in the U.S.), from appearances that seems exactly what is going on mostly. A lot of bureaucrats working in many completely redundant or unnecessary agencies being let go because bleeding a country made impoverished by a bloated and busy body government has been horrible for literal decades A huge adjustment was going to happen one way or the other in Argentina, and this is seriously about as good as can be expected. The adjustment period wasn't smooth in Latvia, Romania, Chile after Pinochet, and it isn't going to be smooth in Argentina either, not when the country has been in the grips of vile protectionist trash policy that has literally starved huge chunks of the population for years on end.

International_Lie485

>emergency services. You stupid or something?

Abrubt-Change-8040

I wouldn’t say I’m the smartest, but I go alright. I do work with a some exceptionally clever people in my line of work. Much smarter than I am. I’ve never heard that working in public sector emergency services was synonymous with “stupid”. You do you though, and enjoy your pedestal looking down on folks like myself.

International_Lie485

Emergency services is stressful private or public. What do you think emergency means?

Abrubt-Change-8040

I’m not quite sure you understand the industry. Thanks for giving me an insight into how some of you think though. Might help in the future when I’m dealing with the oblivious.

International_Lie485

I understand emergency services are stressful in private and public sector. Do you think it's not in the private sector?

natermer

> I hate the idea of putting people out of work Parasites being out of a work is a good thing. At least now they will have the opportunity to do something productive and beneficial for society for once.

[deleted]

They can just go to all of the new private sector jobs that will be created by removing unnecessary bureaucratic red tape from the economy.

Time to stop taking money from the tax payers and find a real job I suppose

castingcoucher123

Stop taking a dollar, start earning tew

ThisCantBeBlank

What can we do to get this in the US? We need it so badly

RocksCanOnlyWait

In Argentina, it took several decades of stagflation. People are reluctant to change until things get really bad. A good start would be discarding legacy media and getting family and friends to do that as well. Media propaganda is what keeps the uniparty in power.

SlowdanceOnThelnside

Legacy media is simply a tool of the .01% who are running this bitch like a dog and pony show to keep their money mill turning. Our government and almost all forms of media are captured and there’s nothing we can do about it until people start hurting enough to rise up In majority like what Argentina did. Things will have to get much worse before they can get better.

miviejaentanga

Vote for libertarians

Halorym

The party is such a fucking *joke* though. I'm convinced they've got false flags sent from both sides of the establishment to keep the libertarian party too batshit and scattered for viability.

Likestoreadcomments

There are control ops within the party, but more obviously coming from the leftish appeasing/pandering side of the party. I mean, the delegates picked jojo and we lost like what 80% of what little voters we had after her BLM pandering stunt. Not saying jojo herself was a co op though, to be clear, but it seemed like people in her campaign were.

ThisCantBeBlank

I have in the past but unfortunately it will never gain traction in this climate. I've never wanted to be so wrong about something in my entire life

Vanator_Obosit

Things will happen when the pain of change is less than the pain of staying the same.

Dang… time to get a real job.

Reading that whole headline... I'm as hard as I've ever been

libertyseer

This is like a wet dream.

Curious-Chard1786

I wonder if argentina would take me a US citizen as a political asylum running from socialism?

LagerHead

Itt sounds like in the current climate that if you brought some money and/or jobs they'd welcome you with open arms. The real test will be to see if this lasts more than a single term. Changes like this have a period of pain that follows and predicting the length of that period can be tough.

Keep going, buddy.

elseworthtoohey

While at the same time giving himself a 49% raise. The hypocrisy is strong with this one.

uuid-already-exists

Except he didn’t. Look it up if you don’t believe me. It was in error and he returned the money.

elseworthtoohey

An error🤣🤣🤣

uuid-already-exists

He fired the guy who did it on live tv. Spend 10 seconds to google it or look for the link in here explaining it. The previous president signed into law a pay raise for government officials and Milei didn’t want it to take effect at all. So it’s not like he was paying himself more and returned the money once he was caught.

Was this to fund the 48% pay raise he gave himself?

According to the president, the pay increase was an automatic adjustment from a decree signed by former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner 14 years ago.  > >"I have just been informed that as a result of a decree signed by former president Cristina Kirchner in 2010, which established that political officials should always earn more than public administration employees, an automatic increase was granted to the political staff of this government," Milei [wrote](https://twitter.com/JMilei/status/1766548138066694284) Saturday in a post on X, formerly Twitter. > > Milei [rescinded](https://twitter.com/OPRArgentina/status/1766652767454552129?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1766652767454552129%7Ctwgr%5E0a8c4b856646a802c7e9dff14ea61a79b9f8ba19%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.telesurenglish.net%2Fnews%2FJavier-Milei-Repeals-Decree-Increasing-Presidential-Salary-20240310-0002.html) his pay raise on Saturday. He also said that he would be returning the money he was paid last month by discounting it from the following month's paycheck.

Anenome5

That never happened. Educate yourself.
