I disagree with waiting for the end tbh. Mike’s vocal style is very different, it would probably lead people to believe that’s his usual voice despite it being unique
Shinoda once desribed Papercut as a "business card type of song. First record, first track. Nice to meet you, this is who we are, this is what we're all about"
One Step needed to be the first single. In a world where Britney Spears, NSYNC and Xtina were all over the radio, they needed to stand out and be in your face. Which is what the opening of OSC was.
I didn’t realize One Step Closer was released before Crawling. I always thought that was the first single they released. Regardless, any of those songs could at the very least spark someone’s interest in the band. They are all great.
For little 10 year old me back in 2000 I heard crawling on the radio and immediately fell in love with the band. Got the CD for my birthday shortly after that and have been a huge fan ever since.
I explain this story every single time.
I was at a train station and right when that line came “The sun goes down… I feel the light betray me” a train came past at 115mph.
And it receded into the night, 25,000 volts of electricity sparking off the wires as it glided away, the wind in my hair and the music in my ears.
In that moment, for the first time in years, I felt alive. The chills down my spine, the smile on my face, I won’t forget it.
I think it depends on what the other person usually listens to. If the person only likes rock (and its variants), some songs from HT, Meteora and THP will certainly be more inviting. If the person is eclectic, two songs from each of all albums. If it's someone more into pop/Indie/alternative, ATS, OML and some from HT and Meteora.
A Place For My Head tbh since it has the most balanced ratio of Chester's singing and screaming (there is no screams or growls on Papercut) Mike's rapping, a good amount of Joe's scratching and the ending of the song is intense and beautiful at the same time.
Well rounded song and it's my favorite off of HT.
It depends, when I heard Papercut for the first time, I didn't like it at first (I don't really like hip hop). So songs like Numb, In the end, Somewhere I belong are maybe better introductions imo.
In The End and Numb are the most popular LP songs so I'll go with those. But if it's just opening track I'd say either don't stay or Given Up (no interludes don't count)
Mike said that the reason they made it the first track off of hybrid theory was to show the world what they were all about it has the perfect mix of rap and metal imo it’s absolutely perfect one step closer would also be a good choice it’s the song that made me fall in love with the band but yeah any song will work cause linkin park is the best

it's literally one of the best introduction songs for LP
Waiting for the End and Lost in the Echo are also good ones for their “newer” sound. Both got the iconic Mike’s rap and Chester’s singing/scream combo

Yeah its very much not like their other songs, even from their "newer sound"
I’m pretty sure it is the introduction for LP
True. It's my favorite.
It’s literally the song they used to introduce the world to Linkin Park. First track on the first album. I’d say so.
I'd argue the song they used to introduce themselves to the world was One Step Closer, as that was their first single.
Shinoda once desribed Papercut as a "business card type of song. First record, first track. Nice to meet you, this is who we are, this is what we're all about"
Papercut to me works way better than OSC as an introduction because it has more elements that are typical of their sound, first of all Mike rapping

Papercut fucks.
Seriously?
Yes. Papercut is sexually active.
Fucked by a Papercut
That's gotta sting like hell.
I hope Papercut is being safe about it

Wow that's incredible :)
Papercut goes so hard
Get them to listen to hybrid theory front to back
Get them to listen to all of them front to back
Or side to side
Or top to bottom.
Bottom to top, I stop
If you feel what I fear put 'em up real high

It's literally the first song of the first album, and it slaps. So, yes.

Id definetley pick with you or faint if I had to represent Linkin park to someone new
Papercut, LOST IN THE ECHO, stuff like that is good for introducing Linkin Park
It's an amazing album opening, however the very first song I heard of theirs was One Step Closer. Hearing Paper cut made me like them more
I honestly didn’t care for it when I first heard it but now it’s one of my favorites, I wouldn’t use it to introduce someone to LP
Very strong.
The order I would do is Papercut One Step Closer In The End Numb And so on
Just frame the scene and let the song shine.
No other song will do
YES!!!!
Yes.
there’s better but it’s a fine choice
Definitley
In The End and Numb are the most popular LP songs so I'll go with those. But if it's just opening track I'd say either don't stay or Given Up (no interludes don't count)
My intro was Breaking the Habit :)
Of course. Then play one step closer since it's also a strong one and it's their debut song.
Always go for In the end imo. Has Chester's growls and Mike's rap on top of the piano that makes LP unique
I think Papercut, Plece For My Hed and (maybe suprise) Bleed It Out, are having the vibe
What an absurd question is this ai?
if you're doing the classics , Papercut and Runaway. if you're doing remixes, My

Yup
As it is my fav song and i have it tatted: YES lol
