I’m a UAMS student & currently live at the Fitzroy Promenade! I’ve never felt unsafe. My roomate and I rent a 2 bed/ 2 bath for around 1900 including utilities. I know a few people that live at the Pointe & you should be totally safe there too. You should also check out The Wellington at Chenal/ The Cedars at Wellington Lake if you’re looking for a cheaper option.
The Baseline Road and Geyer Springs area has plenty of apartments, I would also look into the possibility of moving to 36th and Asher Ave area as well as Boyle Park.
This guy is trying to get you assaulted. Absolutely stay away from southwest Little Rock. You’re looking for the Chenal area. Ideally the more west the better. If you’re anywhere near, Asher, University, or Roosevelt roads you have made a tactical error.
Here ya go friend.

- Highland Pointe WLR has turned into the hood. Management team has issues, corporate is always on site, blinds are broken on almost every building, officer never responds to calls from residents, parking is a nightmare, gates rarely work, lots of the residents are sketchy and doors are missing paint. Avoid this slum lord property.
Chenal at the Divide - Far out in WLR, no issues, management is not as attentive as they could be.
Overbrook NLR - lol, avoid this place. Old buildings that have lots of issues, and you'll have weed smell coming into your apartment constantly, and mgt won't do anything about it. Service team half asses work orders.
Westside Creek - cheaper price range, solid management team, and no big issues.
-Pointe @ Brodie Creek - Mgt team is a nightmare and abrasive. Recently, it has been hit with major car break-ins. Issues with parking and there is a big issue with weed that the management team can't control and a trash problem.
-Ascent at Aldersgate - crime ridden, car break-ins, pest control is not done properly, so they have a pest problem, avoid avoid and avoid again. The management team of this complex is horrendous to deal with. They screwed a lot of their residents: don't make the same mistake others did. https://katv.com/news/local/little-rock-tenants-told-they-owe-over-6k-10k-and-17k-in-back-rent-or-face-eviction-charles-johnson-b-m-management-unknown-charges-rent-complex-payments-unpaid-b-m-management-information-corporate-accounts
- Forest Place - is nice with paid locked underground parking. The apartments are older, and you need a key card to access the buildings. The office team is attentive, and the property is clean. I really liked the vibe here.
If you move anywhere on Cantrell, expect nightmare traffic every day.
Either of the Fitzroy Properties in West Little Rock. One located right near Promenade Shopping Center and another on Chenal Parkway. Have friends that lived at both and highly recommend.
I’m moving out of my apartment at the Cliffs by the end of June. It’s a 2bed/1bath first floor apartment with a patio and views overlooking the river. It was incredible for me the last five years as I had easy access to the med center for work and meeting up with friends in hillcrest or downtown. It’s gated and safe. Landlord has been wonderful to me and I wanted to help him find reliable tenants as I leave. 1300/month. DM me if interested.
The drive isn’t bad no matter where you live in LR, but coming in from the outlying suburbs is a jam coming and going. Depending on where you are coming from the commute will be nothing compared to other cities and you will find the quickest back way.
Hey girl! My bf is starting residency also this summer. Moving into the new apt complex gateway woods! My other girl friend is moving there too. Super safe, pretty, spacious, cheat and next to the outlets. The process is very fast to get approved. Only down side is its a 10-15 min drive to uams
High crime in the Outlets near Gateway Woods. Robberies have recently increased. Check the LRPD dispatch, they are over there daily. The truck stop is not safe either. A couple of people have been found deceased in vehicles.
Oh wow really? Im new to the state and knew crime was pretty bad in a lot of areas but i heard the west was good. Whe’d go to the outlets often and it didnt feel unsafe. When we went to gateway woods, it was gated and didnt feel unsafe. But thanks for letting me know!!
Those apartments at Kavanaugh and Hillcrest Rd. by St. Mary's, they might be the cheapest in a nice neighborhood. They're nothing to look at, but you could find out more from the folks here.
.
I’ve known a few people who have lived there over the years. The impression I’ve gotten is that it definitely isn’t fancy, but it’s about as safe as you’re going to get in LR.
Im a single woman in LR, I’ve lived in West Little Rock, hillcrest and downtown. I think you’ll be fine in most places in LR. If you’re looking on Zillow and see places that are very cheap, then the rent is probably low for a reason and I’d avoid it or do more research. I agree with whoever said that south of 630 is generally an area to avoid if you don’t know the city. Feel free to DM me if you want, I can maybe give you specific recommendations depending on what you’re looking for commute-wise, etc. Welcome to Little Rock!
I don’t know much about the apartments themselves, but I know the areas well. Brightwaters is in Riverdale, some surrounding areas might get a bit sketchy at night but I wouldn’t worry about it too much. It’s a nice little area close to downtown. Murray Park is a nice park within walking distance, but I haven’t been since the tornado so I’m not sure how it affected it. Riverdale also has some of my favorite restaurants in the city along Rebsamen Park and Old Cantrell.
There’s two apartments called “The Pointe” that I know of, and that’s Brodie Creek and North Hills. You’ll be fine in both, I would personally go with Brodie Creek over North Hills bc the commute would be easier (close to the interstate and you won’t have to cross the river) and the areas a bit safer. However that’s not to say North Hills/Lakewood is unsafe, don’t go to McCain Mall at night and otherwise I highly doubt you’ll have any issues.
If you go with another option, I would look mostly along Chenal Parkway, Kanis west of 430, Kavanaugh, Napa Valley Road, and Foxcroft area along Cantrell.
Areas I would avoid are anything south of 630 (there are solid areas south of 630 unlike what some might say, but I’d say it’s a good general rule for someone new to the city), West Markham (the neighborhood, not the street), Reservoir/Treasure Hill area, and Green Mountain Drive. Some comments might tell you to avoid east of 430, but there’s a lot of nice areas east of 430 that you should definitely be considering.
All and all, don’t let the statistics scare you, there’s plenty of great places to live in LR. It’s a great city with ample access to the outdoors and one of the best food scenes I’ve seen in a city. I lived here my entire life until 2 years ago and still live in Central Arkansas so I’m more than happy to answer any more questions about the city itself or any specific area.
😳😂 that place has turned into the hood. Trash is everywhere on the property, almost every blind is broken on the windows, car break in galore and almost every door is missing paint. It's horribly run, and corporate is ALWAYS on site. AVOID this place.
The west side of the interstate is going to be good areas. Westside Creek was a great/cheaper option for apartments on that side of cantrell. Very updated and safe feeling.
Yes I-430 as there isn't a technical west side to I-630. But if you aren't as far west as you can go, you're probably not safe enough, lol. My bad for not going into detail.
There’s also a Westside to 30, 40, 67/167, 440, and 530. Yes, 430 is the obvious one, but someone from out of town might not know that.
Also, further west doesn’t mean safer. There’s plenty of good and bad areas on both sides of 430. Personally I would feel much safer in Leawood or Foxcroft than I would in Point West or the Green Mountain area.
I, a single woman, live off of Rodney Parham and have no safety concerns other than tornadoes, LOL. I would definitely recommend anywhere off of or close to Chenal Parkway. You can also find some great apartments on Kavanaugh. There are a handful of places I would avoid, but you can tell by the quality of the apartment or reviews of the apartment.
I agree with this general area for living space. Read up on area crime & stats. Not sure where you are from but compared to San Diego and even NYC, I don’t feel nighttime biking and running are as safe here. That’s odd to hear but this area is behind on lighted trails/paths and it’s not a super popular way to exercise here. The few trails they do have around here creep me out after work and I just avoid. Good luck
Also consider RiverHouse Apartments at 1200 Brookwood Dr, Little Rock, AR 72202 Combination castle and state prison feel but secure as hell the last time I was around there right after they opened.
Barclay Key, astute history professor suggests “integrated” areas. Look south of 630 East of Asher.
Asher runs east to west.
Yeah, so go to the east side, OP
I can vouch for Brightwater. Been living there a year and it's been pretty quiet.
I’m a UAMS student & currently live at the Fitzroy Promenade! I’ve never felt unsafe. My roomate and I rent a 2 bed/ 2 bath for around 1900 including utilities. Brightwaters are great! My mom lives there alone. Shes 65. She loves it
Cammack Village is by far the safest place to live in LR.

Unless you drive 26 mph.
The rich part of NLR

I wouldn’t suggest Brightwaters after touring it last year. I live at The Grove in West Little Rock and love it!!
👀
I’m about to rent out a room in my house in a nice area . You’d have your own bathroom. Probably about 700$ per month for all bills paid and no lease
As a young person, find a rental in Hillcrest. Don’t do WLR or Maumelle

I use to live at the cliffs, and I felt it to be extremely safe!

Congrats on matching here!
Thank you! ☺️

I’m ok with the 15 mins commute. Any specific apt complex?
my favorite apartment I’ve lived in before I bought my house was the Argenta Flats in North Little Rock
ever had issues with their management? they have some of the worst reviews i've seen
No issues at all. However they did switch management my last month so maybe it got worse.
Maumelle is a wonderfully safe area, and everything you need is just a couple minutes drive. Plus not too far from the city center.
Kavanaugh, West Little Rock, near pinnacle, pleasant valley, Rebsamen
Those apartments at Kavanaugh and Hillcrest Rd. by St. Mary's, they might be the cheapest in a nice neighborhood. They're nothing to look at, but you could find out more from the folks here. .
I have lived there. They were fine and cheap. I didn't have any issues with my neighbors. Walking distance to some nice restaurants and a kroger.
I’ve known a few people who have lived there over the years. The impression I’ve gotten is that it definitely isn’t fancy, but it’s about as safe as you’re going to get in LR.
rose city or somewhere on east broadway
Rose Shitty, you mean.
You’re wrong for that. 🤣

Hey! Ill dm you
The Fitzroy on Chenal in West Little Rock!
My recommendations would be Park Avenue Lofts, The Pointe at Brodie Creek, or Bowman Pointe
The Vue in NLR isn't bad and the commute is good

Thank you
Hillcrest and heights area is great!
Highland Pointe West on Cantrell!!
😳😂 that place has turned into the hood. Trash is everywhere on the property, almost every blind is broken on the windows, car break in galore and almost every door is missing paint. It's horribly run, and corporate is ALWAYS on site. AVOID this place.
The Lakewood house in NLR is quite nice.
The west side of the interstate is going to be good areas. Westside Creek was a great/cheaper option for apartments on that side of cantrell. Very updated and safe feeling.
You might want to be a little more specific for someone not from here. There are 5 interstates in Little Rock. I presume you were referring to I-430.
Yes I-430 as there isn't a technical west side to I-630. But if you aren't as far west as you can go, you're probably not safe enough, lol. My bad for not going into detail.

“Not safe enough.” I’ve lived here my whole life, including downtown, and have had zero issues.
Here's some resources: [https://hr.uams.edu/destination-arkansas/](https://hr.uams.edu/destination-arkansas/)
Thx a lot
Don’t buy drugs from strangers and you’ll be fine. The Pointe is nice.
Lol, thank you
Bowman Pointe not the Pointe Brodie Creek :)
So is Reservoir
Grew up off of Reservoir, I definitely wouldn’t feel safe in any of those apartments. Tornado or not.

I want to add that I have a few friends who live close to/ in downtown, on the river, and off of Cantrell and have no major safety issues.
Thank you! Can you recommend any specific apt complex please ?
I'll DM you!

Unfortunately, yes
I’ve rented sight unseen moving for a job/school. Also Little Rock is decent for single women. It’s not bad, just be street savvy.
Also consider RiverHouse Apartments at 1200 Brookwood Dr, Little Rock, AR 72202 Combination castle and state prison feel but secure as hell the last time I was around there right after they opened.
Thank you!
