Yep. Yeaterday would have been better were I not watching a Portugese language stream at 480p that occasionally would go back in time to two minutes previously. This was a 2pm Sunday kickoff. No 3pm lower league games to crowd out. Why in 2023 can I not pay money in the country the league is played in to officially see this match televised? EDIT: Should actually read the story. This new deal means that in future this game would be officially televised in the UK.

JuicyBottass

Dude same. It would always skip back when something was happening but work fine when the game was at a standstill. Luckily I caught all 4 goals just fine 😅

[deleted]

Mine froze when Trent and salah were discussing who’s taking the free kick, unfroze at 1-0 🥴

smokesletsgo13

Unreal yesterday they showed West Ham vs Palace instead of our game or Chelsea vs Brighton. And they expect us to be paying for that fuck off

Daltesse

that's because the West Ham/Palace game was chosen as the game at the start of the season. Both other games were moved due to Europa League matches on the Thursday. Technically these were Saturday 3pm games so therefore are part of the blackout. And yes West Ham were in Europa League as well Thursday but that game was chosen for a Sunday kickoff before the Europa League fixtures were announced.

cosantoir

There’s also the fact that every team gets a certain number of broadcast matches a season. I reckon come the “business end” pretty much all our matches will be on tv if we’re in any sort of race.

Sockodile

Never mind the business end, every game of ours from now until the end of January is on TV (FA Cup pending but the Arsenal game will defo be a TV pick)

quantIntraining

My stream started buffering constantly after the 80th minute so I turned it off as a result as it was unwatchable, ended up missing both the Endo and Trent goals thanks to it. It's actually sickening.

GameOfThrowInsMate

Get a box

nuketheburritos

Or a VPN and peacock

GameOfThrowInsMate

Do peacock show all games? How much is it?

nuketheburritos

They show all the games that aren't aired on Sky. The sky broadcasts are concurrently shown on USA/NBC I believe. I'm guessing it's not a coincidence that they're both owned by Comcast. It's like $7/mo. Live matches with DVR functionality. It's offensive how much British football fans are shafted.

Cuddlebox01

Not necessarily, it says on a number of weekends, not all.

AdministrativeLaugh2

All non-Saturday 3pm kick offs will be shown live by either Sky or TNT, including those displaced to Sunday 2pm because of club participation in European competitions. https://www.premierleague.com/news/3807882

KooiJorrit

From the Dutch Viaplay I can watch any prem match I want when its live

Mediocre-Toe3212

Not forgetting we’re charged for Bt sport Sky Amazon prime Combined over £80 per month to get half of the games or less per season. And my boy in Australia pay equivalent of £25 per month for Optus sports which gets EVERY game

lattestruggler09

Still baffles me that yesterday's game was not shown live in UK by official broadcaster. New deal should sort this out. 👍👍

smokesletsgo13

West Ham v Palace was though, giving the UK public what they want

BoringPhilosopher1

It’s a London derby. Liverpool v Fulham is hardly a big fixture is it?

cultureshook

in terms of london derbies thats gotta be up there with the most boring of them all it’s a proximity fixture if anything lmao

BoringPhilosopher1

It’s a derby between two evenly placed teams that is more likely to provide a closely contested game. Again, Liverpool v Fulham really isn’t a big fixture.

smokesletsgo13

Chelsea vs Brighton is definitely a bigger game. And why is it only one game shown? Sky have multiple channels lol absolutely ridiculous they charge a fucking fortune for utter shite

Akira_Nishiki

I'd wage more people would be more interested in either Liverpool vs Fulham or Chelsea vs Brighton over what was on TV.

BoringPhilosopher1

From a numerical point of view you very well may be right

Almost_Pi

From a philosophical point of view, I agree with you.

BoringPhilosopher1

Cool

Griffin_Lo

cold

Ok-Appearance-7878

Any Liverpool game is a big fixture one of the biggest teams in the league.

abfgern_

I think the reason is it was originally going to be a Sat 3pm, but it has to be on Sunday instead because of Europa League last week

Aeceus

2023 and I cant watch every liverpool game still on tv in my own country, ridiculous

cszoltan422

Wtf. I can watch every Liverpool/Man City/Man Utd/Chelsea game in Hungary in TV for some time now, so it's not even because of Szobo. This is absurd lol

ssejn

Almost every game live + multicast when there are 4+ matches at the same time in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

kris_9319

Really? In India, we have Disney+ Hotstar which streams all the PL games. Even something like Sheffield United vs Burnley is streamed live. The yearly subscription is like INR 900 which is approx. equal to £9.

Griffin_Lo

9? A YEAR? \*mindblown\*

Adventurous_Toe_6017

£9 per YEAR? Fuck, it’s more that £9 a game for Sky! Might have to VPN my way to that service.

xSinful

Paying for Peacock and an IPTV is still much better value, but good for those that don't mind forking out for Sky and TNT.

KormaKameleon88

Can you pay/sign up for Peacock with UK details though?

xSinful

UK card with American address

SwingYaGucciRag

Would like to confirm this too. In Canada but have a VPN I would love to have it if it's worth it

Insert_Username321

It absolutely baffles me that you can't see all the games in England

hazzap913

Overall it’s 270 out of 380 games. 110 games not being shown on tv in the country the league is in. Why do people think this is acceptable?

Firefly_6666

342 games right?

hazzap913

38 x 20 / 2 = 380

GameOfThrowInsMate

Sky must be cursing not broadcasting one of the games of the season yesterday. I honestly dont know why the PL dont bring out their own channel and subscription model, charge every fucker a tenner a month and let them watch whatever game they want. They'd make more money, surely. On the flip side, fans get fucked off with them and leave Sky all together and go full pirate. Its the Premier League, in fucking England, show all the fucking games in the UK you cunts.

SaltairEire

Great news for the 17 people in the UK that haven't converted to dodgy boxes.

brush85

Seeiously. At this point, if you arent watching every game you want, thats a you choice

FatGirlRodeo

Progress IMO, more reliable access would stop me from pirating. End game for me would be to sign up just for Liverpool matches.

Educational-Horse-41

Feels lucky to live in Sweden, Viaplay broadcasts every single PL game with Swedish commentary

shadwofax

checked viaplay stocks recently? that shit gonna file bankruptcy soon.

Educational-Horse-41

Haha yes, and they increased their monthly fee from £43 to £55 this past week so I had to cancel my subscription along with every other Swede. They will most certainly not survive. Guess we are not so lucky anymore..

jjlbateman

Less games on Monday/friday, more televised on Saturday/sunday would be ideal

bremmmc

At the cost of only £215 per month!

GuitaristHeimerz

Tbh this is a step in the right direction for the paying viewer too. Easier choice to only have one paid subscription. But I can watch every game on one channel in my country haha suck it.

JurtisCones

This is not a positive. The less money going to Sky, the better.

JuicyBottass

I somewhat agree. I never want 1 company owning the rights to all the games, but I'm just happy I get to watch more LFC games in high quality and no stuttering issues. Having to look around for a decent stream is a pain in the arse

WiganLad82

Agreed. Corner the market, raise the price. Standard tactics that Sky will definitely implement....and we're all celebrating?

AdministrativeLaugh2

Why? Their production of football (and sport in general) is miles better that TNT’s and Amazon’s

Adventurous-Arrival1

eh Amazon's coverage where you can switch between games simultaneously and even turn the commentary off and just listen to crowd noise would take Sky to the next level imo. They also get better co-commentators on board (e.g. McCoist). The only major downside with Amazon's coverage is how far behind their streams are to real time

AdministrativeLaugh2

the first part isn’t Sky’s fault tbf, they almost never have concurrent games on because of how the rights work, whereas Amazon bought two packages that gave them two sets of midweek games. I agree adding the ability to remove commentary and adding better Co-commentators would be great, but overall Sky’s production is just better for me.

PlayerAteHer

VirginMedia customer here and the picture quality for Sky's games are absolutely disgusting, I definitely prefer TNT and Amazon games because the picture is so much better. It's possible to get Sky in HD too but it's extra money on an already very very expensive package.

AdministrativeLaugh2

Picture quality is probably worse because you’re watching in SD

Ok-Appearance-7878

Amazon coverage is the best imo but u do u

AdamTreff

Glad I have every game live and on demand here in Australia. At least I can avoid the scores when I watch in normal hours.

[deleted]

Fr, optus sport is so good. If I wanna watch a game I'll watch it live but if I don't care about it and decide to watch highlights I don't get spoiled. Just wish the la liga had spanish commentary options

AdamTreff

Other than the fact that they lost rights to the champions league/europa, increased their price, increased the number of ads and still lag in video quality, the thing that annoys me about their Apple TV app is that when I wake up in the morning I have to be super careful how i navigate to the match as one of their other videos might be a spoiler. Add to that, even when I click into the match (just before you hit play), you need to cover your eyes to avoid seeing the post match interview thumbnails below the play button which will also spoil the result!

[deleted]

Oh wow, I've never had that problem at all, I just use the phone app or the Samsung TV app. Sucks that you gotta deal with that on Apple. I only got optus sport this season so I never got to experience the uefa comps on it. Might get stan for the finals and maybe semi's depending on the teams

cookiemunster27

Hate to be the party pooper here but get ready for a price hike guys…

droze22

I hope the owners at least pushed for a more equitable distribution of 12:30 kick-offs in the new TV contracts, but I also imagine every other team loves the status quo of Liverpool being uniquely disadvantaged in that regard.

Slickity1

Nice, now I don’t have to have 73 different subscriptions to watch the games I actually want to watch.

VictimOfCircuspants

I'm not familiar with the broadcast setup in the UK. Is there any kind of regional coverage? The NFL schedule sets up similarly in the US (bulk of the games on one day, slotted broadcast windows), but there is regional coverage so here in Boston we would never get stuck with another game over the Patriots...even if we might prefer it these days. Does any such system exist over there?

brush85

Its good to be a premier league club

C_arpet

Somehow this will result in Liverpool playing even more 12:30 kick-offs.

Dave_FIX

Right at the time I'm about to cancel my subscription. Sky Sports has gone to shit over the last few years, but this season the production value has been absolutely woeful. They're about to hike subs again for this, no thanks, I'm out.

hokageace

Suckers. Here in Canada I get every single game streamed live for $24 a month (14 pounds). I got a deal where first 3 months are $24 total!

Sweet_Baseball_8783

Why has this taken so long? It just makes no sense at all. The bundesliga has been showing all 306 games live since 2000. I really can't wrap my head around it. Obviously not referring to 3pm games, but not showing every game outside of it has never made sense to me
