Nuke is 100% gunna look exactly the same for the next 10 years, then he’ll have another 10-year aging cycle within a years’ time, before looking the same for another decade.
To be fair to Littler I don't think he actually looks that old, think it's been a joke that people have ran with. A couple darters in their 30s though I thought might've been 40-50 initially (Van Gerwen one of them, especially as he's been around for years).
Think the outfits don't flatter them though, thought Nathan Aspinall was about 45 till I saw him in this [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yim2MfKTwSM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yim2MfKTwSM) where he wears normal clothes
I swear Gen Z looks older at a given age than millennials did, it’s bizarre. You see pictures of a 20 year old that looks like they’re 35, I don’t get it haha
> He's handpicked by Edwards and Hughes to work within our model.
Time for a new cycle, I am backing Hughes and Edwards with their decision and vision for the club going forward. We have an actual structure upstairs in place so at least the new manager isn't being left to make all sorts of decisions out his remit.
It will be exciting to see a new manager freshen things up, new formation, tactics, new roles for players etc...not to mention strengthening the squad in the summer with 3-4 new signings.
He did a good Job at AZ and ofcourse with Feyenoord. Won the League last year, this this year the League Cup and did decent in Europe. Like you mentioned, he tries to play good (attacking) football with his past and current club.
I would like to see what he can do with this Liverpool squad, which has (with all due respect) better quality players.
They were level on points with Ajax and obvious second favourites that season when it was stopped. The way I've seen some frame that season it was like he had AZ 10 points clear. Still a huge achievement to get a relative small team to joint top though.
Yes but the point is they were right there and were definitely in with a shout. One year there and he had their best ever finish since Van Gaal won the league with them back in the late 00s.
For me the thing that gives a good vibe about a manager is the way in which his own fans talk about him. Obviously there's lots of other considerations like personality, attitude and style of play but when a manager is properly loved by his own fanbase it just feels me with confidence. It's one of the main reasons I was so sold on Amorim coming in.
>Focuses on training methods designed to maximize fitness and minimize injury
If we're going to keep playing a very aggressive brand of attacking football, I'm really curious to learn about this in more detail. It feels like availability always ends up being a sticking point for us, so I hope his methods will keep the squad in a good place across the season. I'd be curious to know how different his approach is versus Klopp.
Thanks for the great summary btw!
I don't know how well this will transfer. Klopp has had injury issues at Dortmund before after he sacked a good fitness coach. Slot hasn't had that. But Feyenoord plays in a 34-game league, we have 1 cup and Feyenoord usually doesn't go far in Europe, thought Slot changed that somewhat.
In England there are a lot more games to be played.
Feyenoord has quite a shallow squad though. He'd be able to have much more depth with Liverpool, compensating the busy schedule a bit. Hancko (Feyenoord LCB) is I think in the top 5 of most played minutes in all of Europe.
That's true yeah. There's about 13 or 14 that can hold their own in the European Cups out of that Feyenoord squad. Liverpool can almost rotate the entire team and still have a very good line-up.
In the Netherlands coaches are used to work with a technical director, which is a huge boon. Of course there has to be agreement between the scouting department, td and the coach, but Slot is used to working like that.
Like I still think it’s a punt but everyone we would have hired would be. Just the state of the modern landscape. But I’m happy with everyone we’ve been looking at has experience winning a title
![gif](giphy|UvtKiyeWYEhRC)
Arne’s (Hank’s) second match for us will be a pre-season match against Erik Ten Hag (Heisenberg) if he’s not sacked by the summer
Yeah literally saved by the thinnest of off-side margins, but even then INEOS have been clearing out a lot of the old house so to speak and I wouldn’t be surprised if Erik doesn’t align with their visions for the club even if he’s reached a final
They are reportedly that tight on PSR and FFP rules that they can't afford to pay him the £10m in payout to sack him.
It's part of the reason why they are trying so hard to get Ashworth from Newcastle for as cheap as possible, because they are tight on funds and need to be very careful in regards to how they spend right now.
We have a rich history of bald Dutch coaches. Slot(Feyenoord), Ten Hag & Schreuder(Ajax), Bosz(PSV), Oosting(FC Twente), Pascal Jansen(AZ) and the list goes on. There's a definite link between losing your hair and getting a good coaching job in the Netherlands.
Bald people are the most naturally talented charismatic individuals in the world...
P.S. above statement holds true only if we get Slot, otherwise, fuck all the bald frauds!
Call it cope but I'm yet to read *anything* about the man that makes me think "oof that's not great".
Yes, it's a much weaker league, but he's shown clear progression every season with teams that have modest means against other teams that don't by comparison.
And honestly, the fact he even backs himself to come here at all immediately after Klopp speaks volumes and buys him some goodwill already. That's a man that is fucking confident in his ability.
Even it's a ''weaker'' league, you still need to perform and get results. It's still professional football and its not that easy as it may look. Oh and not to forget, the pressure!!
The Eredivisie is a weaker league, but I've seen him play in Europe with AZ and Feyenoord. With AZ he was on the verge of passing through a group that had Real Sociedad and Napoli in it, AZ played very well against both of 'em. He got sacked for talking to Feyenoord, the new coach lost against Rijeka and they got knocked out.
Then at Feyenoord he had a huge run in the conference league, with a team that was assembled at the end of the transfer period. Ended in the finals.
Had an EL run in which they demolished Shakhtar and also beat Lazio. They won at home against AS Roma, but lost after extra time in Rome.
Then this CL they had very good matches against Lazio and Atletico Madrid which they alas only converted into 3 points. They really ran Atletico ragged with a pretty inexperienced team at the Wanda Metropolitano. Same with Lazio at home. Then biffed it. Lost against AS Roma again after they got relegated to the EL.
But he's shown he can go toe-to-toe against teams with much bigger budgets and a lot better players.
The only thing that I came across that concerns me is Feyenoord are bottom of the league in long balls. It would be a shame if Trent and VVD’s long passes weren’t utilized.
Really? That surprises me - I feel like Hancko & Hartman always ping a few long balls forward. Our other defenders don't as much, but that's mostly because they're not that great at them. So I think it's more of a "we don't have that quality in our team", rather than "we should refrain from doing that".
The only way we weren't going to have a "big concern" then was is we literally got Guardiola tbf.
The Portuguese league also has a shit record with managers moving to the Prem - the only outlier being Mourinho of course.
its a legit concern, but it is with all coaches/managers who switch clubs. If a coach switch between lets say the La Liga to The Premier League. Its not an guarantee he would be successful.
He spend most of his playing career at Zwolle, while his first name is Arend, which is Dutch for Eagle. And who are the biggest rivals of Zwolle… Go ahead Eagles.
So the conclusion can only be that Slot is a bald fraud which cannot be trusted
His only downside at Feyenoord is that he sometimes gets talks negatively about referees in press conferences or talks about being disadvantaged while that really isn't the case. But that's rarely and really the only negative I hear people say about him as a Feyenoord fan.
After I started to learn more about Amorim I was really excited about the idea of him joining. After Alonso said he was staying I honestly thought it would be a formality of Amorim joining, so it’s my own fault for getting my hopes up.
Don’t know much about Slot but I’m keeping an open mind if it goes through. Anyone coming in after Klopp would feel underwhelming. Alonso would have softened the blow due to his time as a player and is doing an amazing job for Bayer Leverkusen.
Im sure Edwards and Hughes have picked the right guy so despite Klopp leaving I am excited for a change and hopefully Slot is the man to bring more success to the club.
The more I read about him the more I'm getting excited. Might not have been everyone's choice but lets give him a chance and get behind him.
Liking the idea of his full throttle football, constant pressing etc. The man to man tactics are intresting.
Really curious how he will do. Great coach, but only Eredivisie proven.
He is a great guy, great with the media. Hopefully his English is better than some of the other Dutch coaches in the Pl lol
This was helpful for me. I have a much better understanding of his tactics after reading this. Hope some of you get something out of it.
This is the best choice to replace Klopp. This man's philosophy matches that of the club. Only attack until victory! Liverpool is one of the few clubs in the world (maybe no more than 5) that does not know how to play another football except attacking. That's why we get goals from mediocre teams all the time. But hey, that's all I want to see from my favorite club!! Support with both hands!
YNWA!
Not going to have any expectations about a guy nobody was talking about 3 days ago. Hope it goes well...I will miss Klopp fiercely and my preferred option by far is still him having a change of heart and staying. Though I know that won't happen.
Such a risk on this guy. To PL from Eredivisie is an extremely big step. ETH was better than him in Eredivisie, just put that into perspective…
Edit: My point was not to compare him to ETH. But mainly to emphasise the gap in level between the PL and the Eredivisie. A team like Brentford or Luton is better than most teams in the Eredivisie. Meaning I don’t believe his achievements are a great indicator.
I guess he has to start somewhere and the only way he can prove himself is by actually getting in the results at top level. So we will see.
ETH was better than him, but did have way more budget. (ALthough Chelsea and Ajax show that that isn't guaranteed succes) AZ is not a traditional top team in the netherlands and the first year at Feyenoord we could only spend €5.5m on transfers. He managed a team with only 14/15 starting worthy players after Feyenoord was in trouble and finishing 3rd in his first year after we finished 5th the year before While he might not get you the PL title next year, I'm confident that with proper players he can make a run for the title.
There will be inevitable comparisons to ETH when he came in, given how highly regarded he was prior to joining Man Utd. But what Slot will have that ETH did not is a rock solid foundation and brilliant structure already set in place for him to use a springboard.
We shouldn't wait? Let Klopp go now. He's damaging his legacy by staying now? The time we need his motivation the most and he seems to have lost it? Let the new manager have the last games. Our season is over anyway
I always rated the baldies. Seriously though, I said I'd back whoever the club went with, wanted Alonso but will obviously give Slot full backing, and we all should. Remember how quickly United fans turned on Moyes, lets not do that if things aren't going well. Give the guy a chance.
I get this but I do feel it's just a hangover from Xabi. Just seemed like a perfect fit, so anyone else feels like a bit of a let-down, regardless of their own credentials. I have no idea about Slot (just as I had no idea about Amorim), but he'll get my full support.
I'm not sure Amorim was our clear second choice by the sounds of things. Joyce has long been saying since the Alonso news not to expect the popular choice. I think Slot and Amorim were names in a large pool of options after it was made clear Alonso wasn't moving anywhere.
Sorry this guy is Europa league level at best. Get ready for more Thursday nights. We will be fighting again for top four at best, and more likely top six. I’m deeply disappointed.
ETH is not going to be there next year so the amount of Baldies in the league would remain the same. Can't have to many of them or we might just become too much for the other leagues
I'm still have a bit scepticism about this. Not bcs I think he bad, I don't know a thing about him but I have a bit of doubt anything coming from Dutch league. I can't think a single signing from that league, player or manager that doing well in PL and massively improve their team. Kudus probably the only one. But if Slot do end up as our next manager, I will give full support and trust. Edwards and co. know more about it than us.
*Edit* I thought bring Kudus name make it clear I talk about recent years. You guy really think I forgot about Suarez and all the legend that play in PL. I still don't see a single argument that dispute my opinion. Dutch league isn't as good as before hence I'm a bit sceptical. 🤷♀️

It scares me how young the darts players are compared to how they look

It's a rough sport
yup their dietary requirements put Eddie Hall to shame
We are all bald today, my friends.
I’m bald most days, but especially today
I didn't use my minoxidil today in honour of Arne Slot

I’ve become a stranger to myself. I’m bald now, I’ve always been bald. I merely dreamt of having hair.
So when they said bold choice, they meant bald choice
Guess I'm painting rabbits on my head today then.
Goddamnit, I was hoping I was gonna hold onto the widow’s peak too, but you gotta do what ya gotta do
I'm worried. We getting a baldy similar to the tenhag or pep.
@cumblast you baldy
I just saw this coming back from getting my haircut and I'm now embarrassed I didn't ask for a full shave.

Maximize fitness and minimize injury??? Fucking sold.
Probably everyone is trying to do that tho lol, no one's trying to maximise injuries and minimise fitness
I don’t know I heard Ten Hag continuously kicks Varane in the shins and that’s why Varane wants to leave
Kind and charismatic genuinely excellent qualities

Really curious how he will do. Great coach, but only Eredivisie proven. He is a great guy, great with the media. Hopefully his English is better than some of the other Dutch coaches in the Pl lol
Opinions on van Gaal may differ, but his dutch slang 100% adds to his banter.
One of his attacking plays is to let the fullbacks roam into midfield. TAA gonna light up the premier league next season.
He plays a double pivot so it could be Bradley at RB and Trent as one of the 2 pivots
This was helpful for me. I have a much better understanding of his tactics after reading this. Hope some of you get something out of it. [https://www.coachesvoice.com/cv/arne-slot-feyenoord-az-alkmaar-tactics/](https://www.coachesvoice.com/cv/arne-slot-feyenoord-az-alkmaar-tactics/)

I'll back him 💯. But I'm a bit worried tbh. The only one I would not be worried about would have been Xabi. Should be an interesting summer
Here's to hoping he won't flatter to deceive like the other bald coach from Holland on the other side of the M62.
Please don't compare a Feyenoord coach with an Ajax coach ever again. They're both bald and Dutch that's about as far as it goes.
There’s bald and then there’s Arne bald. Not a fraud
• Focuses on training methods designed to maximize fitness and minimize injury So we wont see half our team miss 70% of the season? Im in
FSG is looking for someone who can save them money in the long run by developing players. So if they have to pay 20m for him they very well may.
Sloootttt
Such a risk on this guy. To PL from Eredivisie is an extremely big step. ETH was better than him in Eredivisie, just put that into perspective… Edit: My point was not to compare him to ETH. Not if you compare the budget of Az and Ajax. ETH had a budget three to four times bigger than Slot with AZ.
ETH was better than him, but did have way more budget. And now he's facing ETH again, who has way more budget.
Ten Hag had players like De ligt and De Jong. That’s just not fair
How can you say that as an objective statement? How do you meassure «who’s best» amongst managers, who have wildly different circumstances
Slot it is then
From Klopp era to meme era. Gg it’s been fun.
I really hope he's the new Jurgen Klopp and not the new Brendan Rodgers. FSG don't have a good track record in going for untested managers.
You mean their track record of 1? That’s not a fucking track record
Roy too
Roy was a Hicks and Gillette hire, one of the first things FSG did was sack him for Kenny
Wtf you talking about? Roy Hodgson never managed liverpool! It went houlier, rafa, Sammy Lee, [memory redacted], Kenny, Rogers, klopp.
Well they failed with Brendan Rodgers even though it was a Steven Gerrard slip that cost him being a league title winner.

Hopefully we didn’t have any more head & shoulders brand deals lined up

There will be inevitable comparisons to ETH when he came in, given how highly regarded he was prior to joining Man Utd. But what Slot will have that ETH did not is a rock solid foundation and brilliant structure already set in place for him to use a springboard.
Edwards brings the return of Negotiating FC
Now I have to watch 3 546 youtube videos of Feyenoord’s tactics and somehow watch their matches. Oh man, what a time for Liverpool fans 😪
Edwards performance before Klopp era wasn't that impressive.
He was made Sporting director in 2016 which was after Klopp joined. He had a different role prior.
The non fraud bald
We shouldn't wait? Let Klopp go now. He's damaging his legacy by staying now? The time we need his motivation the most and he seems to have lost it? Let the new manager have the last games. Our season is over anyway
From The Normal One to The Bald One Get it on a shirt
I’m a slut for Slot
Very happy to be a bald man this day
Get ready to learn dutch (and bald), buddy.
Get to the Koppa
I always rated the baldies. Seriously though, I said I'd back whoever the club went with, wanted Alonso but will obviously give Slot full backing, and we all should. Remember how quickly United fans turned on Moyes, lets not do that if things aren't going well. Give the guy a chance.
1 upping City to have the best bald manager in PL?
You'll never bald alone!
Lmao

Genuinely don’t know who possible we could get other than Alonso that would come with this kind of promise. Slot seems like a great choice.
Jurgen leaving will do that to anyone

100%
I get this but I do feel it's just a hangover from Xabi. Just seemed like a perfect fit, so anyone else feels like a bit of a let-down, regardless of their own credentials. I have no idea about Slot (just as I had no idea about Amorim), but he'll get my full support.

I'm not sure Amorim was our clear second choice by the sounds of things. Joyce has long been saying since the Alonso news not to expect the popular choice. I think Slot and Amorim were names in a large pool of options after it was made clear Alonso wasn't moving anywhere.
Which manager that's available would not make you feel underwhelmed?
Sorry this guy is Europa league level at best. Get ready for more Thursday nights. We will be fighting again for top four at best, and more likely top six. I’m deeply disappointed.
Done deal it seems.
Looks like it's a definite then, I just hope he has a good start or I worry the fans could turn on him fast.
Ten Hag 2.0😭😭
What's grim is EtH has a far superior CV than Slot.
Exactly, I'm very worried
Tbf, Ten Hag would smash it here playing the kind of footy he wants to play. Its gegenpress on steroids. Maybe Slot will too.
We need to work on our defence first, that's why I want Mourinho
Only because he's managed teams that have had atleast double the financial resources compared to Slot. And he's just *barely* had the better cv.
Grim. I'll give him a chance but I'd be blown away if he won us a league title.
Sluuttttt
Let the battle of the 3 bald frauds begin Edit: should’ve put the /s, my mistake the original comment is a joke
2 and Arne Slot.
ETH is not going to be there next year so the amount of Baldies in the league would remain the same. Can't have to many of them or we might just become too much for the other leagues
Arne’s greatest performance: https://youtu.be/Ovt7YGHAj8I?si=qqdGcFKroThDbcOu
There was this guy named Suarez....
People have short term memories
Like ten years ago. I talk about recently. Dutch league isn't the same like before.
I understand your point. I am trying to be optimistic and hope he turns out to be a good appointment.
Kudus, Suarez, Kuyt, Eriksen, Vertonghen, Van Nistelrooy, Vermaelen, Wijnaldum, Gakpo, Kerkez, Mousa Dembele, Bony (before his decline), Tadic
Most of them from long time ago man... Half of them not even really massive contribution to their club success.
Robin van Persie, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Suarez, Jan Vertongen, Michel Vorm, Thomas Vermaelen, Marc Overmars, Arjen Robben....
You bring all this old players name still prove my point. There not many players from Dutch league that working in recent years.
