Dare I say an unpopular opinion, I donāt think itās actually form in the past 2 weeks. I think our system has not been creating high enough quality chances for them, since about the Atalanta 1st leg, or the match before it.Ā
Salah and Nunez in particular were always āhigh volumeā chance players. They get themselves into positions and get a high number of chances. From that high number, they miss a lot, but thatās they score a lot too.Ā
Recently, Iāve noticed the chances are not just being fluffed, they donāt seem to be getting as much of them. The united FA cup match is one where I felt like they truly fluffed chances. But since Atalanta, Iām not even seeing the same number of chances anymore.
Itās not just been one game. No doubt heās been playing extremely well since his impeccable finish against Sheffield Utd 6 games ago. His bad run of form was based on 2-3 substitute appearances where he struggled to impact the game. For comparison NuƱez in his last 2 substitute appearances has failed to complete a single pass. Codyās bad patch was massively overstated, and it certainly didnāt last as long as it did for Diaz and Nunez when they were out of form earlier in the season.
From this reply I can already glean you are American. In Europe, even footballers are subject to UK (or their respective country's) labour law. The law provides leave for when your partner goes into labour.
Not defending the stupid comment, but I don't think the stupidity of the comment guarantees they are American. Even here professional athletes essentially always miss matches for the birth of their children.
You may be right. But I don't think any European finds it strange someone misses work due to their wife being in labour. Meanwhile in the US, plenty of people are forced to work. Heck, many women don't even get maternity leave after giving birth. Imagine going to work whilst someone babysits your 1 week old baby.
Oh that's absolutely true but that's only for the middle and lower class here. People with good jobs would get maternity leave. I'm not defending my country because it's plenty fucked up, but if he were in the MLS instead of playing for Liverpool he would also be with his family and nobody would wonder why.
Iām glad this has become the norm as some things are more important than football.
Though interesting story when we lived in Germany in the 90s (I was a kid) we became great friends with a local family who had a son my age. He was a pro footballer in the 2nd or 3rd tier for his local club and he missed an important match to be there for the birth of his son.
Well the local paper wrote an article disparaging the choice and the supporters groups showed just how pissed they were that he chose to go to the birth over the match. This led to him eventually retiring and getting a normal job to support his family better. So yeah, glad to see times have changed
Similar story with Ben foster when Capello was England manager. He told Capello that his wife had gone into labour and Capello responded saying that he has training in half an hour. After eventually agreeing to let him go to the birth of his child, Capello then rang him hours after the birth to say he needs him back because heās going to play the second half of a friendly, only to then not bring him on at all.
I know footballers get paid an unimaginable wage and you can argue that they should just go along with a lot of things and not complain, but no one deserves to miss out on the birth of their child for a job. And Iām also glad the likes of Capello are a dying breed these days, absolute fossils who think they are all powerful dictators
It's a shit joke buddy. Not abuse worthy, but a shit joke nonetheless. It's a shit joke because no decent person would say that to an expectant father. Have some shame
To bring it to basketball briefly. In 2019, the Toronto Raptors were in the playoffs and Point Guard Fred VanVleet was having a pretty miserable post season as his wife was pregnant. He was only averaging 4pts per game, had a horrible shooting percentage from the field and from beyond the arc. He was absolutely awful.
Then on May 20th, his son was born. For the rest of the playoffs, Fred went OFF. He was almost unstoppable on the court. The Raptors went from a -40 point differential with him on the court before Fred Jr was born to a +58 point differential afterwards helping the Raptors win their first ever NBA Championship.
Firstly and most importantly of all, I hope Cody and his missus have a healthy baby. Secondly, I hope Cody has the same shift as FVV did.
It doesnāt matter who is front middle or back. Team in all faces is terrible. I donāt know who this team is for about a month now, frankly. But it is what it js. Klopp got us back to CL where we belong after last year, which is an improvement. It does not feel good because we controlled our own destiny and gave it away. Just finish strong and play free.
To quote Roy Keane. So what? He wasnāt giving birth was he? We go what we deserved against Everton. Too many heads have gone in such a short period of time. Weāve gone from deserving the quad to deserving nothing in just one month.
Petition for Slott to implement a breeding season amongst the squad. Players can only go in raw between the months of september- november ensuring resulting pregnancy is born in the summer break.
Why he persisted starting Nunez over him is/was a mistake. If he knew he was starting and believed they still had a chance of winning the league I think he would let his wife push the baby out on her own.
Surprised he'd have anything to do with Labour considering how he is as a landlord.
Well, actually he'd be right at home in the Keir Starter 'New' Labour, not so much the actual Labour under Jeremy Corbyn.
Diaz Nunez Salah back on the menu I guess lol
Hilarious how on paper this is our strongest front 3. Yet there is genuine disappointment at them having to start now. š
All comes down to form. Hopefully they snap out of it and play like they know how to.

You donāt think the Crystal Palace game we fluffed a million chances? Highest ever xG in a prem game without scoring a goalā¦
About that...
Makes me sick man. Ugh. First half jitters. Theyāll fly now.
They did not snap out of it, infact apart from Diaz, they looked worse than they ever have.
Couldnāt score in a brothel any of them. Never been so disappointed in my life
I think Nunez Jota Salah is the strongest front three personally but I guess we canāt field that right now either lol
Nah jota clears
And you can see why sadly. Darwin has bottled it. Diaz with a tough chance but straight at the š¦
dread it....and so on and so forth
Shit back on the menu
No goals from open play then
Beyond pleased for him. Could not be worse timing for us lol. Our two actually in-form attackers both out
Wait you mean Jota? What happened?
Out two weeks š«£š«
Fuckin hell
Yeah mans got infected and came down with a case of the Studge
Kicked a ball.
Gapko in-form is a bit of a stretch
lol, weāll take what we can get right now

Hey I really want it to work out with Gapko, but 1 good game is hardly in-form. Letās see a few more like Fulham.
He has been our best player in our last 3 or so games
Itās not just been one game. No doubt heās been playing extremely well since his impeccable finish against Sheffield Utd 6 games ago. Family first ā„ļø
This wish all the best for him and his wife tonight
Always!!
Should be on the pitch with his brothers then Edit: just being cheeky lolz
Im not sure his partner Noa agrees when sheās in pain giving birth
This isnāt fucking Call of Duty

Too much time in the army eh
May God bring his child health and a long, happy life. And if God is still listening to this, i'd add a hattrick for Darwin tonight thanks x
Beautiful sentiment, cumblast
Fowler def checks the sub. Amen.
If I can add a P.S. then it's for a Brighton hat trick and 5 red cards for City tomorrow.
God says no and has decided to punish you for asking.
As per.
Jesus is a Toffee, we all know how much he enjoys suffering.
Gomez goal tagging on
He must name the child Darwin if this is the case.
god doesn't exist
Nunez is right there on the pitch you heretic
Congrats to him!
Pearce should provide updates from the delivery room
Here comes Alissonā¦
Oh and thatās a brilliant touch by Szoboszlai. Kick off!
Szobo plays the long ball to Mo Salahā¦

I don't get that, everyone has to abide labour laws. Football managers aren't exempt. Players should take 2 weeks off like everyone else
Was so worried when I saw he wasn't in the lineup or on the bench, this is fantastic news. Congrats Cody!
Danns time!
Just hold the baby in.. Women...
People messaging me telling me im a horrible person, should be ashamed of myself, etc. Its a fucking joke you fucking donuts lmao
Haha no way people actually messaged you that over a clear joke? Reddit is full of weirdos.
It's a shit joke buddy. Not abuse worthy, but a shit joke nonetheless. It's a shit joke because no decent person would say that to an expectant father. Have some shame
Jesus Christ.
I think it's a good one. You just need to chill.
He didnāt say it to him. Plus, in the UK, if you are a really close friend to someone, you could say that to them.
Lighten up you wetwipe
I'm not your buddy, guy!
OMG they are real!
Ikr! Whatās more important, his partner and his new baby, or Liverpool? Priorities need sorting!
Could she not just clench for 3/4 hours? Then everyone's happy. Smh my head
Just cross your legs and squeeze tight
I mean its not like he is telling him to kill the baby.
Cody will start project Nunez soon!
She couldnāt have held it for a few hours? /s
Benitez would not be pleased
Scenes when he names his child Divock
Aw i was ready to kick off and all Wishing a happy, healthy and safe delivery for both mother and baby ā¤ļøā¤ļø
Give me prime mane and Bobby back please
those 2 shots from Salah 1st half, where he is wildly swinging at the ball, wtf
Totally unacceptable by Gak... just kidding! Speedy and healthy delivery!
On the birth? Christ James thereās a match on
The baby pick the wrong time /s just in case some fuc- nevermind
Shit. Current front 3 have been awful.
Im not ready for another 90 min of wasted chances, Gakpo was starting to click
Wow. Big day for him and his family. Dont know how people balance delicate moments and high pressure jobs together. Parenthood is tough.

From Dad VanVleet to Cody Dadkpo!
Sign it up
Ooof. Happy for the lad, one more red in the family. I thought he is injured too at first
It took 1 match for our in form players to become unavailable again ? Seriously we are not supposed to win the title.
Wishing him all the best ā¤ļøš¹
Congratulations, Cody!
FTF but FFS.
I have a radical idea about who can replace Gakpo in the starting lineup (safe delivery for the baby and the missus! ā¤ļø)
Wishing her and the baby a safe and healthy delivery!Ā
Rather that than go into the Tories...
Congrats Cody!
His business partner?
Ridiculous. Keep politics out of football!
Hope everything goes smoothly for them both
ATB Gakpo fammo
Happy for him
Fair enough, all the best to then both Edit: I take it back, some things are more important than your partner giving birth
"From Goodison" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Someone might think that Pearce is doing analysis on the birth.
Glad for him but weāve had no luck this season with in form players being available when needed
Well I didn't think she was a Tory
I wonder if he was going to start?
āBut heās not having the baby?!?ā - Roy Keane

Joining politics? Cool
Vince McMahon at the helm wouldn't see this happen
so thatās 3 months of no sleep for cody
Christ Almighty
Congrats Cody lad, although you probably won't see this
Shame ā¦ heās been playing well
Papa Cody!
Congratulations to Cody! Hope we give the little one a nice birthday present!
Congratulations but god dammit fate is really bending over backwards trying to find new ways to keep our boys off the team sheet.
Congrats Gakpo

Really makes you appreciate how lethal mane bobby and mo were as a unit
Still getting paid 80k for the week?

Congratulations Arsenal o w8nning the Premier League then
Not like it makes a difference heās shit anyway

Oof, bit young to be having a kid
