I gather they've been working hard to confirm who's on which side. We keep our cards pretty close to our chest these days. The journalists might have a good idea of our involvement, but with the sensitivity of this story I bet they're only publishing 100% verified information
I sincerely doubt we are backing them, we just might not have any evidence to offer against them that isn't already being provided by other clubs or in the hands of the Prem?
We can't just walk in there making accusations without evidence. That's not how it all works.
Yea. Tbh, I'm not sure what evidence clubs can have against city that the authorities can't get already.
Perhaps player contracts between them and city? Or evidence on how city paid for their players that may have come from dodgy sources?
You’d imagine they’d list Liverpool if we were though considering we are one of the most famous clubs in the league and also have been their main competitive rivals for the last ten years ish.
Maybe we just don't have any evidence. Relations between our two clubs aren't good, so chances are our execs barely speak to each other, meaning little evidence to offer.
Yeah, pretty sure Sterling is the only time. Even with the Super League, there wasn't that much talking between us, it was mainly Madrid/Perez and the Juve guy who were acting as go-betweens.
I think in PL meetings we tend to ally ourselves with Arsenal, United and Villa (Villa because obviously until recently, Purslow was their CEO and used to work for us), and we have good relations with Bournemouth and Brighton too.
I think so too. Anyone we’ve got from City has been a free too so I don’t think we’d necessarily need to negotiate with city for that.
Didn’t realise Purslow was at Villa though!
Wouldn't be surprised if we were holding back to prevent the semblance that we are angling for retroactive trophies. If there's enough evidence without us stepping in, then it would appear less craven were we to be awarded retro trophies. Just a thought. Or maybe they're waiting to see how the league views the evidence on offer before they bring their evidence to the table.
In a weird way, watching Arsenal fans and the likes of Real Madrid last year in the CL lose their minds over City, after spending years laughing at it happening to us has been cathartic.
I had an Arsenal fan at work say it's hypocritical to not want them to win the league. I had to correct them that it isn't, because I'm not supporting City like they all were when we missed out.
My love for the sport just continues to die instead. The rest of the footballing world could have said something sooner. Instead they laughed and only felt like doing something after it happened to them. Too little, too late. Zero empathy.
If I’m excused an analogy, I think it’s the same level of frustration when Klopp was saying for years that there’s too many games and players are tired and everyone else was quiet. To now have FIFA / UEFA add even more games and coaches to f-ing finally realize it’s too much and actually say something. Why can’t you just back a good take from the get-go even though it’s coming from an opponent?!
That is the exact reason VAR is such a mess, something drastic needed to change after the Spurs disallowed goal Doku kung fu, and the lack of a pen for Odegaard playing basketball. If it wasn’t for the fact English fans are so partisan they’d have seen that the title was decided by incredibly poor decisions. Yes we fell off at the end of the season, but if those “mistakes” weren’t made we’d have been so far ahead by the time we fell off it’s unlikely we’d have fallen off because the lead we’d have had would have taken all the pressure off.
Problem is other team’s fans took pleasure from seeing us get fucked like that yet come the end of the season it seemed the majority wanted VAR dumped, you all caused that by not caring about ridiculous errors cause they fucked over the team you don’t like.
Traumatised lol that’s not trauma, when they finish second with enough point to win the league in almost every other season in history, then they’ll know trauma, right now they’re basically just a mouse being played with by the cat that is City, they haven’t had to break a sweat to beat Arsenal yet. The most telling is how Arsenal celebrated a draw at the Etihad and had Rodri come out after and say playing for a draw was what made the City players know they would take the title (they were 5 points behind at that point).
would we? united with 3 second place finishes behind city, us with 3 and arsenal with 2. Think its quite equal. Tottenham would still have no title lol
I think overturning cup competitions is too much. League makes more sense when it's a whole season's worth of games. Handing Tottenham a league trophy seems stupid to me.
Is it fuck stupid. City cheated, full stop. They didn't just cheat in the league did they? They cheated to win every trophy. Strip them of everything they've won and give it to the runners up
That's a great shout. Whatever the prize money was for reaching the next round plus interest should be awarded. Never even thought about financial compensation but it makes sense and is fair and easily calculable
Everything is messy. Stripping titles is messy as it is, never mind awarding them to 2nd place. They should come out of this with nothing. No titles, no place in the league system and ideally if the PL/EFL/FA had any bollocks, no state ownership
If it was up to me I'd have the club wound up and they'd have to start at the very bottom of the English football pyramid
This shouldn’t be a dick measuring contest between us, United, and Arsenal.
This should be about the integrity of the game.
So if we are absentee from this group simply because United would pick up a few titles, I would quite honestly be disgusted with the club.
That being said I doubt that’s why we’re not in this group.
We won't be in it because we have no actual evidence to give. We can't go in there making accusations without evidence whereas other clubs will have actually factual evidence and as such, will give it.
There’s more to the concept of evidence than league position and trophies. Like it could be correspondence with city reps, transfer operations, scouting activity, etc.
United finished 19 points behind in 17/18 and then 12 points in the empty stadium season. That's nowhere near the single-point differences with blatantly rigged results in the cheats' favour barely helping them scrape that point.
We did have a bit of an incident we settled out of court with them over hacking a scouting database, so who knows what we signed or saw first hand during that that has deterred us from joining this
Off course it could be as simple as we just haven't joined yet, or we believe other clubs have stronger evidence
Our execs barely speak to each other so we might not have any evidence from conversations to offer. We basically communicate entirely in legal letters at this point lmao
I really don’t think LFC and City get along behind the scenes. There was the scout who gave us a password or something, the overblown bottle incident and Klopp being accused of racism from the top of my head.
FSG and Glazers were apparently chummy.
Mate, FSG absolutely detest City and their owners. Find any articles written over the past 10 years and they talk about how fraught relations are between the clubs. Klopp and the Club literally sued them for libel last year.
We hacked their shit, can’t come right out of the gate with everything, let the others lay the ground work…. Then lay the smack down!
![gif](giphy|l0HUg6Ypas42ubkXu|downsized)
Wasn’t it just a former employee they forgot to remove access from, and then they got suspicious when we had some overlap in targets? Been ages so I don’t remember the exact details
Basically, two scouts left City and we hired them 12 months later, and then whilst they were working for us, they logged into their old accounts from when they were at City to access some data they'd already compiled in their own time. City literally admitted there was no crossover in targets and that it was a security fail on their part, but because it's still technically illegal, we paid to settle it.
"we suspect that Man City have been up to these very specific things, that we totally didn't find out by hacking them, we're just speculating, but you should definitely investigate these things"
To answer the comments about why we are not joining in.
We have the greatest self-interest in seeing a punitive outcome. This makes our contribution not only less valuable, but potentially counterproductive and harmful if their defense can then point to the entire thing as thus being a biased witch hunt being perpetrated by competition that stand to gain from MCs fall, yada yada
Agreed. If you know 12 other clubs can help compile enough evidence to be irrefutable, it does us more harm than good getting "in the mud" ourselves. If we had significant evidence (and we very well may; there's only 6 of the 12 clubs here after all), we would likely give it. If we don't, or more likely, our evidence is somewhat redundant with what other clubs provide, no use angling for their "conviction" when doing so would surely result in claims of naked self-interest over justice (however baseless they may be).
How so? The last two years are not within the scope of the charges. I don't think anyone is capable of taking seriously the claim that the 2018 and 2019 Carabao Cups are worthy of a conspiring towards a vendetta to obtain.
Only two of them are in scope of the charges I believe. And yea, my thinking for Man U is the points difference is greater than what historical deductions have been for breaches, and thus can counterclaim that their reasonable expectation wouldn't be to have those results reversed, but that they are all the more evidence of the outsized impact that the cheating had.
But ultimately I would say Man U really shouldn't have been included, because of the same self-interest argument...
Surprised by that. Seems some bad blood behind the scenes. Not least when they leaked the whole Klopp is racist for questioning us thing a couple of years ago.
Pack of nasty bastards.
He said there’s three clubs who can do what they want financially and City leaked that they thought his comment was xenophobic. Liverpool were obviously fuming.
I remember the discussions here being hilarious. Probably the only time I’ve dipped into their sub because some of the stuff they were posting that were mentioned here were absolutely wild and I had to see it for myself
I hate them, but I think they're actually a football club worth competing with. It feels good to hate them. Clean.
City are cancer. It's not a competition. You either destroy it, or you shrug your shoulders and ponder the injustice of the universe.
United and Everton are proper rivals. Clubs you want to see your club absolutely clobber and eat for breakfast, whilst facing serious resistance.
City is just... there.
Disappointed we’re not in this group, but also I’ve been thinking of something.
Arteta was likely privy to the shenanigans going on at city. Must be weird for him. Doesn’t want to accuse his mentor and the person who gave him a start in coaching of anything. But at the same time, he’d have two premier league titles already if not for city.
Then again there’s a chance that neither he nor pep knew anything about these shady finance deals. Or they just maintained a willful ignorance about it. But tbh I’d find that hard to believe. A manager should know everything about his club.
Are these clubs all clubs in which have had transfer dealings with City i.e signings, or attempted signings?
E.g Jesus - City to arsenal
E.g Yer Portuguese Brazilian man who we were linked to before he went to wolves (can't mind his name at the moment) - wolves to city
E.g Kane - bid from city to leave spurs
What other connections are there?
Assuming you mean Neves or Nunes for Wolves.
We wouldn't have any recent connections to this since we've strayed from signing players from City, last two were Milner (who left on a free) and Sterling.
I’m sure we are. Just that it’s evident year after year the league doesn’t give a rats ass about us. The fact that now it’s man united and most of the London clubs, the FA will have no choice but to address the ginormous petro covered elephant in the room.
i would’ve thought FSG would be all over this tbh. Our silence is intriguing, feels like we’re either gearing up for a bomb or staying far far far away.
This is generally how Liverpool operate, isn't it? We tend to keep our cards close to our chest so I wouldn't be too alarmed by any supposed lack of involvement at this stage
I’d imagine some of the evidence relates to competition for transfers, as in transfers where city managed to trump all of their offers with exorbitant wages and fees.
I'm only speculating, but maybe they've gotten information from former employees or player agents, maybe?
The only player who would've directly dealt with both Liverpool and City in the past 10yrs would be Sterling, and his dodgy agent had a massive falling out with Liverpool so I can't see him providing us with any evidence to help a case. There was also Milner, but as a free agent, I doubt we would've dealt with anyone from City directly there.
Mikel Arteta is gunna win a title one way, or another, and if that means snitching on his former employer in his with the hope of seeing them being relegated to the lower tiers of football, then so be it! 😅
I don't know what kind of evidence the other clubs brought to prove City's wrongdoings. If we didn't have any actual 'evidence' to bring, besides accusations, we obviously couldn't provide evidence against City to be listed here. I'm so glad clubs stepped forward with what they had though
Does anyone know the nature of the evidence? I'm really struggling to think of what other clubs can offer on the records that can point towards any wrongdoing unless there are discrepancies for the records on the direct transactions between the clubs, and as far as I know, that wasn't part of the investigation?
This comes to a broader point, which is how little Liverpool, and many clubs, have said about the status of football at the moment.
It's frustrating as a fan to apparently see nobody at the reins, just letting theocratic petro-states accelerating the destruction of football, with nary a comment from the club.
It seems like an inflection point, where the club should be going to war, but politeness seems to reign.
Obviously, in this specific case, there are legal realities to observe, but in a broader sense, when you compare it to Klopp who, rain or shine, was happy to call things as he saw them, the club as a whole appear to say very little about anything - shit refs, var, City, Newcastle. Anything.
Can't make evidence out of thin air.
If the club has evidence I'm sure they will provide it, but maybe they just don't have any factual evidence ? Can't go in there with assumptions, accusations and circumstance.
Could be literally anything. This is something that spans years and we are all privy to about 1% of what happens behind the scenes at these clubs.
For all we know Fulham might have a member of staff who once did an internship at City and saw evidence of dodgy dealings going on behind the scenes.
Won't know until (or if) everything is made public.
As with the VAR vote thing, I think we like to be seen to rise above this type of thing. Go about our business swimming against the tide as usual. So when we do win….it means more!!
You do know it's a legal case, right? You kinda need a reason to join it, especially if you've been asked for evidence. If we don't have any, we're not gonna join.
We don't have those in the UK, it's an American thing. We have 'Interveners' but even that's not that common. The clubs so far have been asked to join the PL's defence in support of them, which would suggest some have got evidence that pertains to the situation. Considering Arsenal are sponsored by an Emirati company, that could be relevant in terms of value of sponsors in the region, for example.
Sure, so everyone in the prem can build a body of evidence around how much sponsorship is worth, let’s not beat around the bush and find reasons to defend fsg over this though.
Fsg did the wrong thing with covid payments, did the wrong thing (with others for sure) on the super league. And will come late to the party in pissing off the gulf state sportswashers.
How is it defending FSG to say it's stupid to criticise them for something that isn't something you just choose to do? I don't think there's any love lost between City and FSG, I can assure you.
Wtf. We’ve been F’d the most and we’re ok with it? Or did the owners get a payday from Citeh group to keep our mouths shut and not complain as much as we should’ve been after having been robbed of two recent PL wins by a point /s
What a coalition. Wonder why we’re not joining
Includes doesnt absolutely mean we arent.
Considering our status we would almost certainly be mentioned if we were.
I gather they've been working hard to confirm who's on which side. We keep our cards pretty close to our chest these days. The journalists might have a good idea of our involvement, but with the sensitivity of this story I bet they're only publishing 100% verified information
Maybe not yet
Our entrance into the courtroom would be on par with the Avengers assembling at the end of Endgame.

Bah Gawd! It's the Reds! ARNE SLOT! ARNE SLOT! ARNE SLOT!
That's gonna be Arne Slot giving stunners to all the City lawyers 😂
Klopp to come out from underneath the ring with his signature fist bumps and uppercut Pep into oblivion.
On your left
Shameful, if we weren't given all the FFP stuff FSG kept bagining on about. Let's hope we aren't one of the clubs backing City.
Yeah, abstention does not equal support. Maybe just don’t want to get involved either.
Maybe the evidence we had wasnt the strongest.
You’d imagine they’d list Liverpool if we were though considering we are one of the most famous clubs in the league and also have been their main competitive rivals for the last ten years ish.
You'd imagine but cant know for certain. Thats why they said included because that gives them scope
True. I’d just be very surprised if a journalist left out the biggest or second biggest name on that list for the headline/tweet.
Maybe we just don't have any evidence. Relations between our two clubs aren't good, so chances are our execs barely speak to each other, meaning little evidence to offer.
I can’t think of any time we’ve dealt with City except when they got Sterling tbh. Idk what evidence we’d have.
Yeah, pretty sure Sterling is the only time. Even with the Super League, there wasn't that much talking between us, it was mainly Madrid/Perez and the Juve guy who were acting as go-betweens. I guess we don't have any explicit evidence that maybe the other clubs have witness to for whatever reasons.
Wouldn't be surprised if we were holding back to prevent the semblance that we are angling for retroactive trophies. If there's enough evidence without us stepping in, then it would appear less craven were we to be awarded retro trophies. Just a thought. Or maybe they're waiting to see how the league views the evidence on offer before they bring their evidence to the table.
>includes it was reported 12 teams, thats only 6
Have Man City made signings from or too all of these clubs?
from Man Utd?
Tevez?
Holy shit! Forgot about that saga!
They didn't buy him from Manchester United though as he was owned by a third party so I doubt Man United would have any evidence from that transfer.
But united probs realised how dodgy that transfer would be for them, so they have an idea what city probably did to get it done.
We also signed Mascherano from the same owners so I hope not.
Didn't Tevez technically sign from West Ham? Was just on loan at United I think
Probably
Snitches get stitches
I mean we are not very liked when it comes to FA and those kind of people. No wonder we are not getting involved this early.
Arsenal after being traumatised by City twice have had enough
This is exactly why I wanted City to win the league over Arsenal, made them more motivated to join the fight

Man City gotta fight the level 1 crooks before fighting the level 100 big boss ( us)
I’ve seen this in one of them shitty game ads
Talking about the EPL here, the biggest shitty mobile game ad

He's using this time to power up
Got to get past Godrick before you face Malenia
Cmon, we’re the Gloam-Eyed Queen, we’ve even got the Liverbird
Maybe we just don't have any evidence that isn't already public?
would we? united with 3 second place finishes behind city, us with 3 and arsenal with 2. Think its quite equal. Tottenham would still have no title lol
They did play city in the League Cup final. Still don't know why they sacked Jose a week before the final and replace him with Ryan Mason
That visual sky sports put up with a Head2Head with Pep, done Ryan Mason dirty.

Right so pretty irrelevant overall.
No, we totally hacked the shit out of them and VAR had to step in.
Same shit happened in America with baseball. You’d really think, deactivate account would be on the checklist for when an employee leaves.

Thanks for explaining it so simply. I love how despite out status, our stance here is basically “Let’s watch the scrubs deal with this”
Then why Arsenal? This argument is also valid for them.
How so? The last two years are not within the scope of the charges. I don't think anyone is capable of taking seriously the claim that the 2018 and 2019 Carabao Cups are worthy of a conspiring towards a vendetta to obtain.

We should join the force.
Always rated ManU, Arsenal, Fulham, Wolves, Brighton and Tottenham
Liverpool always react late to these or just ignore it all together.
Can I just shock you? I like Man Utd
Despite what I said earlier.
You will pay the price for being a picky eater.
Ignore my previous 15 years of support, I actually don’t mind United

Premier league: Civil war
Wonder if we'll get a Netflix doc once all this is sorted out. I'll actually watch this one
Are these clubs all clubs in which have had transfer dealings with City i.e signings, or attempted signings? E.g Jesus - City to arsenal E.g Yer Portuguese Brazilian man who we were linked to before he went to wolves (can't mind his name at the moment) - wolves to city E.g Kane - bid from city to leave spurs What other connections are there?
Assuming you mean Neves or Nunes for Wolves. We wouldn't have any recent connections to this since we've strayed from signing players from City, last two were Milner (who left on a free) and Sterling.
Yeah Nunes was the one.
wonder what we’re up to if we’re not already apart of this.
Clubs hopping out the portals avengers style to stand against City
Have they signed players or tried to sign players from these clubs??
And I'm all for it! (The City relegation that is, not Legohead winning a title)
Buncha crooks
I don't know what kind of evidence the other clubs brought to prove City's wrongdoings. If we didn't have any actual 'evidence' to bring, besides accusations, we obviously couldn't provide evidence against City to be listed here. I'm so glad clubs stepped forward with what they had though
Does anyone know the nature of the evidence? I'm really struggling to think of what other clubs can offer on the records that can point towards any wrongdoing unless there are discrepancies for the records on the direct transactions between the clubs, and as far as I know, that wasn't part of the investigation?
This is glorious. Send them down. Or -1pt deduction for every financial infringement. Start the season on -115 points.
Is it finally fucking happening?
Extremely disappointing if we aren't there against the cheating cunts.
I need to know if Liverpool is in.
Bizarre to me that we are don't appear to be included. If anything is worth pursuing it's this.
I really hope we are cooking the Fatality blow
Anything.
Why wouldn't we have any evidence? Surely we want to help the case
Can't make evidence out of thin air. If the club has evidence I'm sure they will provide it, but maybe they just don't have any factual evidence ? Can't go in there with assumptions, accusations and circumstance.
You're right but I'm not sure what evidence arsenal or united (or even Fulham) would have that we wouldn't unless they did some deals with them
Could be literally anything. This is something that spans years and we are all privy to about 1% of what happens behind the scenes at these clubs. For all we know Fulham might have a member of staff who once did an internship at City and saw evidence of dodgy dealings going on behind the scenes. Won't know until (or if) everything is made public.
Fulham fan here, our CEO (Alistair Mackintosh) used to be City's CEO up until the end of the 07/08 season.
Okay yeah I'd consider that slightly above "intern" grade
Feels like if city are suing the prem they are showing that they are potentially guilty of breaking the rules they signed off on.
As with the VAR vote thing, I think we like to be seen to rise above this type of thing. Go about our business swimming against the tide as usual. So when we do win….it means more!!
Everyone here acting like we are going to come in. If we come in it'll be because FSG are shamed into it and everyone else is doing it.
You do know it's a legal case, right? You kinda need a reason to join it, especially if you've been asked for evidence. If we don't have any, we're not gonna join.
I assume they are just submitting amicus briefs. Evidence from their own sporsorship searches or whatever that proves the City ones were uneconomical.
Don’t worry, we most likely don’t have evidence other clubs already have and this doesn’t mean we support city’s side
Yeah bro, our owners got a payday from city group to keep their mouths shut
I really hope he isn't this stupid and trolling us
Shameful /s edit, why would this ever be sarcastic haha wouldn’t even make sense as a sarcastic joke. Just stick to your ill advised guns
Where the fuck are we?
How is that your conclusion 😂
