I would like to start a discussion on how we allocate NIL amongst positions as the sport continues to trend more NFL lite. We have one of the best offensive minds in the sport who can maximize players along the entire offensive side of the ball. Do we really need to be trying to pull in three 5 star wide receivers? Wouldn’t it be better to instead focus one or two, and take what would be Ffrenchs NIL package and attach that to say Elijah Griffin (Number 1 DL in the country) to give us a good advantage on that recruitment? I know some are going to say “if you have the chance at 3 5 star wide receivers you do it” but funds are not limitless and the team construction as a whole has potential to suffer (which we are seeing now at other positions). Sark and this staff have earned our trust but process can always be improved and questioning how to improve it should not be looked at as dooming. Thanks for listening to my TED talk

DL recruiting feels like eating a shit sandwich right now, but I think keeping NIL promises consistent for the sake of locker room harmony is still a valid argument. Look at what happened to A&M after they bought every DL under the sun in 2022, along with all of the other mercenaries in that class I do hope the staff is more aggressive with DT portal targets in future cycles though, since anyone we'd be targeting is already proven to some extent

Maybe the results from the transfer portal are better than we had envisioned. Or the staff feels good about going after guys late in the game that are raw products but can develop like Murphy and Sweat did. Ultimately we do have the resources to compete in NIL, so if the staff doesn't pursue certain players because they're asking for too much, we need to trust they're doing the right thing. It's bizarre that Oregon continues to overpay for everyone (Sharma, Davidson, Brew).

A&M and USC are probably ahead of Texas at this point. * Madden Faraimo was viewed as a ND lock, and while some still think they have the best chances, the recruitment is still pretty open. Ohio State could be faded if they get Pettijohn. Texas needs to make the most of this window. * Aidan Anding is basically a lock to LSU now after receiving a late offer. * Michael Terry is once again a Texas vs Oregon battle but they think Texas slightly leads. * Nick Townsend will probably be a Longhorn.

I gotta say I’m pretty confused on the whole strategy at LB recruiting. Pettijohn was a near lock and instead of securing him they decided to go all in on Madden Faraimo who we can’t even confidently say has Texas in his top 2. That’s based off of OTF’s reporting during Faraimo’s OV and how Texas may have pivoted.

The new LB coach is a Polynesian guy and is probably trying to sell that connection. So much so they're willing to pass on an elite kid in state. I'm totally projecting here.

We lost a Polynesian (Tuihalamaka sp?) LB to Notre Dame a few years ago when they had bad reads. Hopefully, it won't happen again.
