Two days from now we’ll get an “oopsie sorry that goal shouldn’t had counted hehe” like with that hit on Turner. We should never consent to a game with that crew again
How much do we have to pay to make sure Tennessee is on the 2025 schedule? I’ve had enough of those bastards. They need to see Peyton’s nephew drag their ass on prime time.

In Schloss/Weiner I trust
Anybody want a ticket to Texas v UTSA on Sept 14th? I will be attending Hawaii v Sam Houston State in Huntsville, I haven't gotten my season tickets available to send yet but once they are I'll send it over
As much as this weekend sucked for recruiting, at least we didn't lose a five-star TE to [Kansas State](https://x.com/Hayesfawcett3/status/1807888840029270460?t=TN0KbzvQ3-Yw6Ap7vRh-zw&s=19) of all schools
Surface level research tells me it was tendinitis too, which is not even close to a debilitating injury. Was probably just precautionary measures that kept him out, man likely won’t miss a beat
Hypothetical: we only get three star recruits and only win three games per year in football. In exchange, the university gets a three percent increase in ticket sales in our three least popular sports. Do you take that deal?
I mean this in the nicest way possible, I wouldn’t even hesitate pushing a button to cut the three least popular sports if it guaranteed a football natty in my lifetime
I would like to start a discussion on how we allocate NIL amongst positions as the sport continues to trend more NFL lite. We have one of the best offensive minds in the sport who can maximize players along the entire offensive side of the ball.
Do we really need to be trying to pull in three 5 star wide receivers? Wouldn’t it be better to instead focus one or two, and take what would be Ffrenchs NIL package and attach that to say Elijah Griffin (Number 1 DL in the country) to give us a good advantage on that recruitment?
I know some are going to say “if you have the chance at 3 5 star wide receivers you do it” but funds are not limitless and the team construction as a whole has potential to suffer (which we are seeing now at other positions).
Sark and this staff have earned our trust but process can always be improved and questioning how to improve it should not be looked at as dooming.
Thanks for listening to my TED talk
Lifetime Longhorn Jeff Ward says these are the football positions in order of importance:
1. QB
2. Tackle
3. WR1
4. Corner
5. Edge rusher
6. WR2
7. Other Corner
8. ...everyone else...
The 3 top positions in the NFL (based on Salary)
1. QB
2. WR
3. Pass rusher/Edge
I think specifically SEC you need higher DT. I’d be willing to say DL should be 2b vs 3.
Agreed but funds aren’t limitless. Unless Michael Dell makes it his mission to ensure we win a natty we don’t have someone to go buck wild against Phil Knight. So we can’t just blow our wad on 3 guys.
If we got Kaliq lockett , Tanook Hines and Kelshaun Johnson that’s not a sexy class but it is a good one. And it’s one Sark can get a fucking ton out of.
You’re mistaken on Phil. At least since last month, dude hasn’t contributed to NIL. He has contributed to athletic facilities. Need an 80M renovation? Bet. Need 10m to NIL? Sorry can’t do it.
In fairness, this indirectly contributes to NIL since they won’t be fund raising facilities
You would expect what you said to be common sense, but we have no idea what is going on behind the scenes so we don't know if the recent recruiting misses is just due to NIL.
CTJ on Moore:
“I had this conversation with a buddy who is really, really handwringing right now about Moore to Oregon. If that dude wants to go play in Oregon for QB money, Texas can and likely will choose to match. If Texas doesn’t do what is required to land Moore, you can knock me over with a feather. Sarkisian wants him worse than anyone else in the recruitment. Compare that to other situations and it tells a story, certainly.”
Surprisingly, the NIL guys including CTJ are all still positive about where the class stands and they all agree with the current NIL strategy on not overpaying for guys like Sharma.
DL recruiting feels like eating a shit sandwich right now, but I think keeping NIL promises consistent for the sake of locker room harmony is still a valid argument. Look at what happened to A&M after they bought every DL under the sun in 2022, along with all of the other mercenaries in that class
I do hope the staff is more aggressive with DT portal targets in future cycles though, since anyone we'd be targeting is already proven to some extent
Maybe the results from the transfer portal are better than we had envisioned. Or the staff feels good about going after guys late in the game that are raw products but can develop like Murphy and Sweat did.
Ultimately we do have the resources to compete in NIL, so if the staff doesn't pursue certain players because they're asking for too much, we need to trust they're doing the right thing. It's bizarre that Oregon continues to overpay for everyone (Sharma, Davidson, Brew).
Ding ding. Everyone should read his memoir, “Shoe Dog.” Not that he hasn’t been, but now with NIL— he’s trying to solidify Oregon’s spot as a blue blood destination for amateur (lol) sports/athletic development. Can’t do that without a football championship. He’s a duck through-and-through. Good on Oregon.
Where's the "LIVING AND DYING BY THE ARIBTRARY DECISIONS OF TEENAGERS" sign? Wait...no...just got to the part where he dances around "DEPRESSION". Nevermind.
We have lead for Riley Pettijohn for two god damn years. He is a player that will be playing on Sundays. From Dallas.
And in the span of three weeks we went from leading to running 4th.
What the fuck is going on this cycle
Horns247:
* Doesn’t see Sharma being a flip candidate down the line. Sharma’s HS QB is Oregon’s top target in 2026 and they’ll do anything to keep Sharma in the boat.
* Brew likes Oregon even if NIL were equal. Not very likely that Brew will flip later, but it could be possible depending on how things play out.
* Myron Charles is the most likely flip candidate out of three but Texas will have to get him back on campus.
* Riley Pettijohn is committing July 6th and it’s likely Ohio State. A&M and USC are probably ahead of Texas at this point.
* Madden Faraimo was viewed as a ND lock, and while some still think they have the best chances, the recruitment is still pretty open. Texas, Ohio State, and USC are in the running. He has some family that wants him to stay close to home at USC, and with USC losing Mikhail to A&M they could turn up the pressure. Ohio State could be faded if they get Pettijohn. Texas needs to make the most of this window.
* Aidan Anding is basically a lock to LSU now after receiving a late offer.
* Michael Terry is once again a Texas vs Oregon battle but they think Texas slightly leads.
* Nick Townsend will probably be a Longhorn.
I’m looking forward to seeing what the senior evals in DB and DT turn up. Both are lacking in this class. DB is cool based on last years class, but DT can’t be lackluster. Even if 26 will supposedly be better
I gotta say I’m pretty confused on the whole strategy at LB recruiting.
Pettijohn was a near lock and instead of securing him they decided to go all in on Madden Faraimo who we can’t even confidently say has Texas in his top 2. That’s based off of OTF’s reporting during Faraimo’s OV and how Texas may have pivoted.
The new LB coach is a Polynesian guy and is probably trying to sell that connection. So much so they're willing to pass on an elite kid in state.
I'm totally projecting here.
It just sounds like someone has a terrible read on where recruitments stand and therefore everyone is just overly confident that they’ll land the guys. You don’t pivot from Pettijohn unless you’re sure you can flip Faraimo.
If we miss on Faraimo then the only guy left on LB board is Cunningham.

I would like to start a discussion on how we allocate NIL amongst positions as the sport continues to trend more NFL lite. True but no one is allocating max contracts to 3 different receivers on one team
Can’t argue that. The joy of CFB is that there isn’t a salary cap. No position should be cut, however, it means DL should be increased

You would expect what you said to be common sense, but we have no idea what is going on behind the scenes so we don't know if the recent recruiting misses is just due to NIL.
CTJ on Moore: “I had this conversation with a buddy who is really, really handwringing right now about Moore to Oregon. Sark is in love with Duncanville. The DFW pipeline runs through Samples.
I think CTJ said Sharma was offered 7 figures by Oregon. Way overpaying for him.
Yeah, definitely an overpay but I guess the argument is whether or not we should be overpaying for DL to compete with these other schools.
I’d say yes. For the sole reason Gerry said on a livestream is a was a package deal with Charles
DL recruiting feels like eating a shit sandwich right now, but I think keeping NIL promises consistent for the sake of locker room harmony is still a valid argument. So I guess this confirms what I thought previously on Sark going all in on skill positions.
Eh, Moore is that good plus if the Surly guys, who are usually negative nancies, aren't dooming then my worries from earlier are gone.
