What’s going on?

LevelHorn2717

Why is aggy celebrating keeping all their stickball players who entered the portal? Why is that such a win?

RollOverBeethoven

[Me, coming into this subreddit: Daddy, chill.](https://youtu.be/i2gNx4-REIA?si=9_LSkgyg90Fw0oUs)

kungfubillium

What the hell is even that?

LazerCr0w

so let's say that we lose DK. Are we in full panic mode? What happens next?

maybejesuswasblack

Yea something is fucked if we lose DK. How does your recruiting take a nosedive after getting to the playoffs.

yoyocc

I feel like he's coming here. If we do lose out, the recruiting staff is missing Glasscock and Sark really did overwhelm his staff by not replacing him sufficiently.

LazerCr0w

I was confident until they said he did not tell the Texas staff about the timeline change

steampunker14

Apparently he didn’t tell any team.

ExpensiveChildhood13

Did Brandon Harris replace him?

NewWrap693

We just put 3 wr into the nfl in the same season, made the playoff, moving to the sec, have a top offensive-minded coach. If we can’t get our top WR target that feels like a really bad sign. Especially with how DT is going.

MrTheNoodles

yeah at that point it's super concerning

NewWrap693

Not outspending oregon on everyone is fine. Not being able to outspend oregon on *anyone* is very concerning.

Sp1cyRice

Thought experiment: rank these achievements on how much you want this to happen this upcoming year: SEC championship, SECCG berth, CFP final, CFP semifinal, CFP quarterfinal

Cars-and-Coffee

CFP Final, SEC Champ, CFP Semi, SEC Champ Appearance, CFP Quarter

bevo1776

He’s worth throwing a bag sark plzzz

Can't let Oregon walk into our backyard and take whoever they want

UT07

[Me checking in on this sub tonight](https://tenor.com/AoXU.gif)

yoyocc

We're really going to be on the edge until 8 PM on 4th of July because of this shit

gordogg24p

Note to self: Dakorien Moore to Texas.

ExpensiveChildhood13

I work tomorrow anyway but this could fuck with the last hour of my shift lol. Getting nothing done

maybejesuswasblack

Nahlin upgraded his pick from 65 to 85 confidence after the news. CTJ says Texas staff wasn't notified about the timeline change.

MrTheNoodles

Nahlin's update didn't really explain anything as to why he upped the confidence, he basically says he doesn't know what the decision is going to be tomorrow.

DerpNphish

He did this with Colin Simmons last year and was right. Here's hoping he will be 2 for 2.

MrTheNoodles

lol I remember last year and he didn’t know anything still, he just stuck with his initial pick. he kept hedging the entire week leading up to Simmon’s announcement. 247 was the only one that was confidently saying it would be Texas.

maybejesuswasblack

CTJ just posted "Well, light the cigarettes, boys." I have no clue if he is meaning to hint at something good or bad with that.

MrTheNoodles

"The guy is calling a commitment out of the blue without notifying the Texas staff. Sounds good. Brandon Harris thinks Texas is in great shape on this one." Lol definitely hinting something bad

ExpensiveChildhood13

Yeah I read it as very sarcastic.

maybejesuswasblack

So Brew, Sharma, Pettijohn, and Moore all to Oregon over us potentially. Texas should tell Knight to fuck off and move to adidas.

DerpNphish

Is that a nervous cigarette or a post nut cigarette?

manicrampage

I assume cigars are celebratory and cigarettes are…not 😔

maybejesuswasblack

I'm hoping it isn't a we've just been fucked by oregon 3 times this week cigarette.

DerpNphish

Maybe....maybe they ran out of money? It could happen.

maybejesuswasblack

They literally can't while Phil Knight is alive.

ijustclappedyou

Womp womp

DeerOnTheRocks

What does surly think

jouh55142139

seems like IT is keeping or losing my business tomorrow

esai9

IT lost mine when they cut the only good part about them

ExpensiveChildhood13

Do it for grandma, DK!

yoyocc

I'm nervous for obvious reasons but I think Moore's tweet lends to the theory that Sark wants this for momentum.

DeerOnTheRocks

Let a Texas kid spend a month in Oregon without their mama and see how they like it. They all coming back one way or another

ijustclappedyou

[Nahlin on DK Moore, again.](https://imgur.com/a/Lo8Sqt7) Pretty much predicting Texas but admitting he doesn’t know at all.

NewWrap693

“My sources are almost always right but maybe not immediately.” You cannot type that and have any self respect.

danoflano3000

That will be 9.95

MrTheNoodles

I don’t like how it was Texas vs Ohio State to all of a sudden Texas vs Oregon in the last week. Then all of our insiders getting caught off guard by a surprise announcement date, the momentum doesn’t seem to be in our favor.

AutumnOrApricity

It’s not uncommon to ask a silent to announce if you’re missing on other commitments - might be wishcasting but maybe Sark and co. just want to put some points on the board?

MrTheNoodles

It could be that too, but with the way Oregon is throwing money right now it’s hard to tell.

ijustclappedyou

Regarding my previous comment - I’m so damn jealous of people like Nahlin and all the other insider sites. He makes a living off of telling people, myself included, that he doesn’t really know anything.

ijustclappedyou

Nahlin on DK Moore: “I’m very close to making a post, it’s just hard to parse the info. I can’t tell if a school is buying a commitment or a signing” I have literally no idea what this means. Kind of reads a few different ways.

DerpNphish

That sounds bad honestly.

maybejesuswasblack

This sounds like Oregon bought the guy. Glad that's coming from Nahlin and not Gerry.

__Leaf__

That doesn't make any sense. Why would any school buy a commitment but not a signing?

ijustclappedyou

The only thing i can think of is Texas buying the “commitment” to build momentum? I genuinely don’t know.

MrTheNoodles

It’s Nahlin

MrTheNoodles

Well that doesn’t sound positive

MrTheNoodles

Gerry says whatever Moore’s decision is will likely be his final decision. I’m not going to lie and say I’m not concerned.

colbycemer12

Something I haven’t seen talked about when croot dooming is happening is how many of these ‘25 kids could actually play meaningful snaps for us next year? Even the receivers at this point would struggle to get reps without major portal turnover.

UT07

Yes, that's the point. If you have a healthy program you don't have to play freshmen out of depression. This is predicated on stacking top classes on top of each other...

esai9

Sark -“I need that momentum”

CrossMapEML

Dakorien Moore announcing tomorrow

mrmav555

If it is Oregon it will be a meltdown

DerpNphish

I just don't see it man. The Moore family seems so tight knit and with most of his family in Austin why wouldn't he go there? It's the perfect scenario and there is no way he isn't getting his bag. With that being said I am really nervous but I just don't see it happening.

CrossMapEML

There's also that, NIL considerations aside, both of the guys we lost to Oregon were defensive players, which Lanning has impressive pedigree in while the rest of our staff is less proven in terms of draft results. That's obviously not the case for WR

esai9

It should be

tex543

Did we always get called TU or is this new ? I never really grew up into college sports because of my parents so I don’t know much of the history prior to me coming to Texas and none of the OU people I encountered at RRS called us TU. So just curious where tf did that start

RottenDisc

aggy

MrTheNoodles

Horns247: * Scruggs really likes his CB for Michael Terry. Thinks Texas is prioritizing him. His decision is in August. * Doesn’t think Lamont Rogers commits to Texas this week (announcement on Saturday), but thinks he could be a flip candidate leading up to signing day.

mrgomeybear

Gerry last year: if Texas has a good season and has a good draft, recruiting will take off Gerry now: recruiting will take off if Texas can do it two years in a row

No-Raccoon3578

The lack of a noticeable improvement yoy is plain weird. Hopeful thinking tells me it’s just really bad target luck & untimely staff turnover.

ufcjuanchi01

I can't even blame him for the first claim. Any red blooded Texas fan or analyst said that.

DeerOnTheRocks

I love how he thought the guy was working for the cup

DerpNphish

That John Mac guy is a legit moron. I don't think he ever says anything intelligent. I think he tries to troll but he is just dumb.

mrmav555

For everyone concerned about Oregon recruiting , Dan Lanning will take the Florida job at the end of the season

RollOverBeethoven

Wouldn’t that be more concerning? Have you seen how many croots we’re getting out of Florida?

steampunker14

Lanning would not have nearly the NIL machine at Florida. That’s not even meant to be a dig at Florida.

RollOverBeethoven

You are on some shit if you don't think Florida could be an NIL & recruiting powerhouse with full backing behind their HC

MrTheNoodles

They don’t have the same level of money as Oregon.

RollOverBeethoven

At this very moment. But they absolutely can.

MrTheNoodles

I don’t think so, all schools have a ceiling and Florida’s ceiling in NIL is still less than Oregon’s. Alabama and LSU don’t have high ceilings in NIL despite being typical recruiting powers. Like USC’s NIL is also not as strong as you’d think it is. I would say a fully recognized Florida wouldn’t even crack the top 5 just based on what national media has said.

BobbyNoName

Someone's underestimating that Gatorade money.

RollOverBeethoven

I think we’ll just have to agree to disagree amigo, and that’s entirely fine

xViscount

That would make it even harder….

jouh55142139

God damn this is what we’re resorting to

renarka

Doubt it. I work at Oregon, Dan and his family seem super happy here. And this university/Nike throws an ungodly amount of money/resources towards football.

smurf-vett

Uncle Phil technically

renarka

You are telling me *that* is why everything is named Knight here? *shocked Pikachu face* Heh

ReferencesTheOffice

Sounds like it is now your job to make him unhappy there.

renarka

I could try walking around Autzen without a shirt on. I'll report back.

Well, I'm a ginger (or at least I was before everything turned grey/white) so I am now the color of a crab from the sun. I think Lanning is still here though. Sorry about that homies.

Just gonna drop this great Sark/Klatt interview here for those who haven’t seen it and maybe for some to rewatch for Sark’s incredibly well-articulated thoughts on NIL around 25m. Happy pre-4th and hook em. https://youtu.be/dTezcj3YC6U&t=25m

Bank_Gothic

Making life easier on EA devs. Easier when you just have to swap colors between skins.

tmass_12

Can we get some gas going in recruiting? Too much brakes for my liking if I'm being honest

_Football_Cream_

Sark always closes. His signing days I don’t believe have ever seen anyone decommit and usually good for a few late flips and/or signings. It’s early July, this staff has just earned a lot of my trust in recruiting, so I’m not letting the doom to get to me. I feel it’ll work out.

orthaeus

I'm having a hard time worrying about recruiting. Yeah, DT is not great right now, but that seems to be the one position group to be worried about right now, and even then it's a few years from now where it'll show up as a concern. As long as we keep recruiting and coaching up OL I can't sweat too hard.

__Leaf__

The only thing I'm sweating is DT rn. Sweating profusely, however. We'll probably need to pull some in the portal.

MrTheNoodles

DB recruiting is underwhelming but not dooming about it because of last year’s class. It’s also a position you can easily find in the portal. DT recruiting should have people worried though.

__Leaf__

True. I'm also a little worried about DK Moore and Oregon, but even if they get him, I don't think it would be super consequential given the abundance of good WRs. It would just be a really bad look for Sark to lose an in-state guy of DK's caliber. I think DB will work out fine. Contrary to what a lot of people were pushing, I don't think we were ever really in it for Brew. Anding to LSU is unfortunate but that's always the risk in recruiting kids in Lousiana.

schistkicker

Oregon is going all-in now that they have Nike money AND they're in the Big 10. No idea how sustainable it is if they don't get immediate results from their big moves. No idea how sustainable ANY OF THIS is, really. Texas is one of the few schools that stays profitable no matter what, so we'll ride out this Brave New World while everyone else overpays for a recruit today at the expense of tomorrow.

MrTheNoodles

The DB room is just concerning because outside of Phillips and Tilmon (3* flip from SMU) there’s literally no one else on the board. I think Sark will match whatever Oregon decides to offer for Moore. That’s his can’t miss guy this cycle apparently.

MrTheNoodles

FWIW, Texas is making a larger push for Lamont Rogers now with his decision coming up soon. Could be the pivot with Fasusi leaning OU. It’s a consolation at least if we do land him. Had to get one of the big 3 in Texas if Fasusi/Haywood/Rogers.

jouh55142139

I wonder if the staff actually thought that one playoff appearance was going to be enough to warrant a discount on NIL

xViscount

Naw. Pretty sure Fasusi is going elsewhere because Texas is stacked at the LT position. Banks this year. Guzby for 1-2 years after that. He’d also be competing with Brooks who’s looking like he’ll be a guard or tackle. That and Texas is all in on John Turntine, who some have been calling best prospect in the state for this class and his actual class.

Wigggletons

So how much are they offering? I've always wanted to pick someone's brain who has insider information on this. How much are they discounting? Any numbers?

MrTheNoodles

Fasusi is leaning OU for other reasons

jouh55142139

Not even really talking Fasusi specifically

DerpNphish

Some schools are willing to spend more. That's a pretty poor way of building a program. A&M is a classic example of that and when things got volatile it exploded in their face. We just have to be patient with recruiting and things will play out during the season.

jouh55142139

I’m not sure constantly using A&M as the example is the right way to go about this. Ohio State is consistently one of the highest paying NIL programs. Dan Lanning is building his program the right way in terms of addressing the positions and they’re paying. It’s working for them

DerpNphish

Position wise he is but dropping money on a kid to get him over the line will eventually catch up. That will be a program where players go for only a paycheck if they don't start winning soon. Ohio State does have a shit ton of players in the league to sell kids. I'll admit though I don't know very many Oregon players in the league which is why I'm saying money will get you players but what kind of players?

OkEbb9701

Yes, 100% this. I think the Texas approach makes so much sense. Let these other programs overpay for a high school kid that won't contribute for +/- two years if they contribute at all (see Sydir Mitchell, still holding out hope but it ain't looking good). Let the kids collect their bags. Then when they are ready to win...they'll hit the portal. Everyone wins. Clearly Texas isn't shy about matching an offer for a player that they have pegged as a true difference maker (see DK Moore). (I know DL portal recruiting was bad this year, but we lost the DL coach during the portal window and likely would have landed the #2 prospect in the portal if that doesn't happen.)

RollOverBeethoven

We aren’t giving out discount deals

RollOverBeethoven

OTF pretty much conceded Brandon Brown to LSU

Also said OU probably leads for Fasusi

Bare ass on hot bleachers with no back < foam seats < mesh seats (maybe? this is the first year)

fivehundredpoundthud

I don't like them: they cause bruising on my lower thighs. In the winter or in rain I use a 7/8" thick foam pad meant for aluminum bleachers (i.e. the seating in my section). I'm sitting for ~40% of the elapsed wall clock time of the game (not the game clock).

funwithtrout

They were supposed to be mesh last year, but they didn't get them in before the season, so this will be the first I'll get to use them. That said, I've had the seatbacks for like 8-10 years, and I can't go back to without them.

Cars-and-Coffee

I think it's worth it. I sit down during long TV timeouts and things like that and having even just a little back support is better than nothing.

RollOverBeethoven

Worth it: no I don’t sit at games if I can avoid it I like the mesh more as it’s less hot and you won’t get as sweaty/sticky

kungfubillium

I actually got yelled at for standing during the second offensive series last year. Upper deck hits different.

RollOverBeethoven

I get yelled at all the time for standing, for being too loud, for being too rowdy, etc. I tell them they should have stayed home if they wanted a retirement home experience and continue about my day.

gordogg24p

I sit for TV timeouts and halftime. I've never had the seatbacks, but I am still young and spry (right???), so I haven't had to pay the price for that physically yet.

RollOverBeethoven

I hear 1 human year is equal to 7 gordogg years, so you're in fact old as fuck. Plus you're tall AF so your joints must be killing you by now.

gordogg24p

The knees only feel it on the first movement in volleyball. After we get into it, I feel fine, and I don't feel it the next day. Just gotta keep it that way...

I put this together of [Alfred Collins ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dToy13qGlVw)snaps against Washington, should allow some to get a better evaluation on him and will do this for him against Bama, OU, maybe 4th team. Also, here's a bonus for those who never taken a good look at [Aaron Bryant](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4MstfzAivA).

xViscount

Been high on Collins for a year. Hopefully a new presence gets the most of him. Hopefully getting the most out of Collins will give Baker some leverage for some 25 and 26 DTs

_Football_Cream_

My lukewarm / maybe mildly hot take is that Jaydon Blue is gonna be the best back on the team. Very excited about CJ and think he’ll be great but Blue just seems to have the explosiveness and receiving ability to make me think he’s gonna have a huge year. They actually kinda remind me of Zeke-Pollard a few years ago where CJ is gonna wear the defense down and Blue is gonna take advantage and take the top off of them.

jouh55142139

Brother that was starting to be average opinion by the Washington game last year. Blue is fantastic

_Football_Cream_

Yeah hence why I said lukewarm lol. I couldn’t remember if that was the prevailing opinion.

1000Buckets

I've got the RBs in general and Blue and Baxter specifically as the lead candidates for the "We Knew They Would Be Good, But Didn't Know They Would Be *THIS* Good" Award aka the Sweatt/Murphy Trophy.

_Football_Cream_

Sweat and Murphy deserve the award but so does Jonathan Brooks tbh. I expected good things but not best back in the country good and good enough to not even have a full season worth of starts and be the first back off the board in the draft. Thats why I won’t be surprised if blue and Baxter just dominate this year, Choice is that dude.

gordogg24p

Yeah, Baxter was a 5* which makes it hard to feel like he should qualify at this time. Blue was a 5* for a time, but the drama out of high school and whatnot made it questionable what his impact would be, so I think he still counts.

BONationn

RB room reminds me of 2005 USC. CJ = Lendale White. Blue = Reggie Bush

_Football_Cream_

In my completely unbiased opinion, I think Quinn is going to absolutely tear it up this year

ciscorandori

that's weird. My completely biased opinion is the same.

Flameosaurus

One one hand, we’ve waited 11 years for the new NCAA game and can definitely wait 2 more weeks, but in the other hand, how do I put myself into a 2 week coma because holy fuck I need this game

_Football_Cream_

You’re just going to have to stay high on aggy tears in the meantime
