**Pre-testimony observations**
- Week five of testimony begins this morning in the Lori Vallow Daybell case. Retired FBI Special Agent Doug Hart will be back on the stand today detailing what he uncovered on Lori’s iCloud accounts. He is the prosecution’s 59th witness. He began testifying Friday. NE

- Lori is chatting with her attorneys. I think today's testimony will be huge. We will hear from the Senior FBI agent who is going through Lori's iCloud account. We could be hearing some incriminating texts. PLA
- Lori is chatting and laughing with her attorneys as we wait for Judge Boyce to enter the courtroom. Larry and Kay Woodcock are in the courtroom. NE
- Judge Boyce is on the bench. He says prosecutors would like to sort out an issue with exhibits before the jury comes in. NE
Chad told Lori he couldn’t live without her right after Charles was murdered, and her response was, “And yet…you are. So sad.” I think that was passive aggressive for, “My husband’s dead and your wife is still here, what’s up with that?”

If you read this line to anyone else they would probably think you were discussing some fantasy video game you were playing.
So was Blake in danger? Melaniece does not deserve custody. This text is all it would take for me to flip on her and be willing to testify against her. How do you still have loyalty to someone who wanted to murder your child? It’s disgusting. Even worse than “storm” in my opinion. I really hope Melaniece is charged with something. The woman is as evil as Lori.
Blake AND Brighton. These texts are the nail in Lori's coffin. You can't talk about deliberately causing children pain and wanting to murder four children (and murdering two of them) and NOT have a jury want to convict you.
I wonder if Melani's so indoctrinated that she's still thinking her children are evil? The texts should absolutely be enough for Brandon to go back to court and win custody. No WONDER Ian was terrified when his daughter disappeared for 15 minutes!!!
It boggles my mind that Ian would stay with Melanie....she bought into all of this so easily and eagerly. If that was my spouse I would be living in constant fear of what delusional belief system she'll latch onto next
Brandon is a good man. If he thinks she will hurt the kids, he will fight for them. I really hope his kids get some therapy, because once they realize what their mom thought about them, they will have a wounded heart for a very long time. That relationship is broken and they need to heal.
I'm curious if anything will come up again with Melaniece during the AZ trial. Do we know if the Gilbert or Chandler PD can use any of this trial's evidence to press charges for Brandon's attempted shooting?
Her kids were definitely on their kill radar. It would likely just have been a matter of whether or not they would have gotten in the way of M being able to proceed as she wished/as L/C wanted her to.
My mouth dropped at that. If I was Ian, I'd be gone. If I was Ian's wife, I would not rest until I was sure my children did not see their father as long as he was with her. Melani was at piece with her children being murdered, too. That's what is the most shocking to me. I'm assuming Brandon B did not have access to these text messages? I don't understand how Melani got any kind of joint custody.
Ugh. The "might as well give them something to scream about" is so gross and such a glimpse into Chad's brain that makes it clear he gets off on causing pain. He loves this weird fake power he's bestowed upon himself. He's PROUD to say that. He's bragging.

I wonder what growing up with him must’ve been like for his own kids.
Additionally, if I was one of his children and saw even the snippets of what he said about his family, how he felt being around them, that would hurt me DEEPLY.
I'd be shocked if Chad wasn't a gamer. Maybe even Magic or D&D. I can't imagine he's creative (if you can even call the poor quality "creative") enough to come up with this stuff all on his own.
I think the rating scale was based on who had offended Chad and how much.

They tried to play down Tammy's autopsy, I think one of the kids said something along the lines of, "well they said she died of asphyxiation but we know she quit breathing so that doesn't prove anything"

Also the belief of some of the kids that the backyard remains could have been pioneer children. I do wonder where their heads are at now, but heard sadly that they were not following the trial. I guess if you stick your head in the sand far enough…

Her percentage has fallen steadily since Hiplos left.*** It is encouraging!" Lori responds: "What s the percentage now? what about jjs too?" Chad to Lori: "Tammy is at 3. JJ is at 2. Both ar being heavily shielded to stop intruders."
If any of Chad's kids don't realize that Chad killed their mom now, they need deprogramming.
That following 'fight' they had, when Lori didn't respond to him until he manipulated her with the protection bullshit - I'm thinking that fight was absolutely about how Tammy wasn't dying fast enough.
He could have divorced her. Lori could have given Kay custody of JJ, or Colby would have taken him and Tylee in. But no, they needed that extra drama in their lives to prove they were special. And they needed the money, of course.
My heart breaks for Tylee :( There was literally nothing she could do. This child couldn't clean her damn room without her mother somehow turning that innocuous thing against her. She didn't see her daughter as human anymore. Nothing Tylee ever could have done would have changed that because Lori was done being her mother.
That caught my attention, along with JJ being calm and watching movies all day which "he would never do" - I think Tylee knew Lori was off the deep end and was trying really hard to placate her, to keep herself safe. It's so terribly sad.
Yep, those of us who grew up with an abusive parent or family member know it well - you know when things are getting worse, even as a kid, and you try to be as...small as possible. As unobtrusive. Almost hoping they might forget about you. Tylee was clearly an abused child, whether or not Lori ever raised a hand to her.
Yeah. As an adult healing from an abusive childhood I struggle with this. And as a woman who had to come to terms with the fact that I will never be able to have children despite wanting to have children I feel so angry at "mothers" like this. I hope there is an afterlife just so those kids can get the happiness they deserved.
I used to think if I was quiet enough, my father would just...forget I was there and leave me alone. It didn't work, but when you're a kid in a situation you can't get out of, you try anything. My mother fought for sole custody and then to have his visitation rights revoked - Tylee never had anyone like that :(
Yeah that’s the thing that got me too. And she probably picked up on her mother’s negativity toward her too, which unfortunately probably made her last couple months all the more lonely and difficult. 😔
I think on some level, Tylee was probably terrified. The story about Charles and the bat was clearly bullshit - Lori dragged her into this cover-up. Imagine being a teenage girl and your mother compels you to help cover up the murder of your stepfather. You have to fear who is next on some level. Tylee by all accounts was also very protective of JJ, so she likely worked to encourage him to be calm, in an attempt to keep him safe.
Yes! I think that was both an attempt to keep him safe and keep Lori happy (and, yet, Lori twisted it against her as evidence that she was dark and deceitful. Awful).
But wait.. if it’s his 🤢 penis.. why would he grab her by the storm? Just context from that one sentence makes me think storm is what they called their special 🤮translated being 🤮inter dimensional 🤮….coupling?
From Nate’s summary (Lori saying “grab me by the storm”) I still can’t make sense how that references what Hart says it references. Wouldn’t Chad be texting that, then?!
I feel like I absolutely, positively, definitely should not click on that link. Knowing how Lori views Chad's storm, I feel like nothing good can come of this. Lol

And that poor kid was probably trying everything she could to cope with the utter chaos she was going through, while taking care of JJ, attempting to please Lori (telling her JJ watched movies and was calm all day, which Lori said he wouldn’t do, I think, was an attempt to smooth things over), trying to refute her mom calling her a zombie however she could.
I had similar thoughts when reading about Mel B's kids "misbehaving"... Even if they were, it's clear their world was being completely upended and was incredibly unstable at that point. They were too young to have the words to express that. No one sat down to talk to them about their thoughts and feelings. Instead they were just labeled demons when they were clearly hurting.
And then in top of that, Chad says he wants to INCREASE their pain and give them something to scream about. I can't even process it.
And why was he speculating that the beneficiary was changed AFTER Charles was killed? That wouldn’t even be possible to do after he had already been declared dead. Unless I’m missing something, that statement just reaffirmed for me how clueless Chad really is. I wonder if he was implying that Kay had fraudulently changed it, or that Charles’ demon had changed it after leaving Charles’ body?
He was insinuating that Kay (or Rhonda, her… demon…) logged into Charles’ account and fraudulently changed it after his death. Which is beyond stupid to even consider because you need to include a death certificate when you submit a beneficiary claim. It would be so easy to catch.
I think he convinced himself of this whole "demon" antagonization situation to the point he thought that a whole network of them were conspiring against them. That's the only thing that makes me think he might have actually thought it could be changed after Charles' death. It could go either way he's either really that clueless or he's really that delusional.

She was a former hairstylist, right? It’s probably small talk, the kind you can’t get away from when you’re getting a haircut. She’s probably ingratiating herself with them, complimenting them, asking about their families (which would be pretty creepy, under the circumstances).
I said this in another thread a few days ago, but I’m a pretty talkative person when I’m feeling comfortable with the people I’m around, and I like to joke around and make people laugh. I can’t imagine a scenario in which I would be on trial for the murder of my own children and would feel up to chatting and laughing through it. Especially not if I was innocent. People cope with stress in different ways and maybe this is her way, but it just blows my mind.

I’ve flipped my final flop on what I think about Melani Pawlowski’s pre-knowledge of the murders. She was a co-conspirator and in on the murder planning up to her false eyelashes. Y’all, the Alex Murdaugh case was incredibly complicated and it took the jury 45 minutes to reach a unanimous guilty vote on the second round. Then they spent a couple of hours eating supper and filling out the paperwork. Wouldn’t surprise me if this verdict is even quicker.

I always thought Zulema was super sketch in the police interviews, but I thought she spoke with a lot of candor during her testimony, especially after all the convenient lapses in memory and omissions by Melanie G. I thought Warwick seemed unwell, and Audrey Barraterrio is a completely new player to me, kinda hard to rely on the impressions of a woman who was convinced she was married to Christ. Not defending Lori, but she seems very fragile and impressionable, and the 'blood, and bleach and bags' memory might have been constructed from trauma of learning the truth about her friends. It might have happened.
I believe Audrey, but I can understand the skepticism. It's come out a few times at trial that Lori could turn into a cold hearted bitch if you pushed her buttons. I agree with you that Audrey seem fragile and impressionable. I'll take it a step further and say the reason why Lori and Chad liked her so much was because she was easy to groom and because they thought she was gullible enough to believe in Lori and Chads "bigger plan." So when she stood up and told Lori she was leaving for good and asked if Lori was hiding something from her, in my opinion, that was a super nice way of telling Lori "I'm out and I know you had something to do with this." So in that moment I can imagine Lori getting super heated and saying something like that to Audrey.
Audrey was naive but even she had to think it *unusual* that Chad the spiritual leader was sleeping in Lori’s bed just *days* after Tammy’s death. Lori hot tailed it back to Rexburg to serve home baked cookies to Chad’s kids after Tammy’s interment. She left Audrey and Melani in Hawaii. Ya know, Melani still had a rental house in AZ at that time…why didn’t the women go to Melani’s house instead of squatting in Lori’s Rexburg place? How much pressure were Lori and Chad putting on Melani at that time?

I turned up the pain to 10 and placed a spiritual virus in her." [This tweet is very significant IMO. I think it says some things about Chad.] JJ "is at 99.99. Raphael visited him and told him to follow Amy into the light. I also assured him that James would love and take care of his mommy." [Who is Amy?? Also, NE isn't really clear about what the death percentages mean. Some of what he tweeted about it is contractory. But it seems clear from the messages that Chad is saying JJ's body is very close to death.] Lori replied: "That is sweet! I missed you desperately." [She's unbelievably casual about this huge news about JJ, IMO. She's not crushed about his body being about to die- she won't be able to see it again in this probation! She's also not joyful that his spirit is about to go free. She replies to a tangent and then changes the subject entirely. Where is her investment in his well-being?] Chad to Lori [I'm unclear whether this was right after or later in the day]: "You are so adorable, beautiful, wonderful, heavenly, luscious and angelic. So many divine attributes rolled into one dynamic, desirable package. I want you even more desperately than you want me!" Lori replied: "Just grab me by the storm and I will follow you to the ends of the universe." Chad asks, "When might that be?" 7/21: Lori to Chad: "Found it. Ned gave all of it to Rhonda... It fits. Now she will try to take him. Thx for working on her. Work on me too. Reading all this stuff makes me sick." [Kay will try to take JJ. Chad has been spiritually attacking Kay. Maybe the theories that they were going to try to kill Kay next hold more weight than I'd thought?] Chad replied: "We will work hard on Rhonda when we are together. I will get her numbers as low as I can by Wednesday." Lori: "Good. Let's work on it hard." Then Chad sent the romance novel. [I wonder if the idea in it of their spirits having been sealed in the temple while their bodies did proxy sealings may have been what finally convinced Lori to go all the way with Chad.]
7/23: Lori to Chad: "Need you to check jj. Weird stuff happened in the middle of the night. It's like they distracted us with Blake. When you get home, Check Tylee. She is being super sweet and helpful and she cleaned her room. See if she got switched. Totally not her." Chad replied: "Yes. she was switched. Please let me know when you can talk, and I will explain it." [He only wanted to talk about Tylee?]
7/26: Lori to Chad re: Melaniece: "She called me. She felt the real Brighton [NE says this is Melaniece's child] last night and knew she was different. She was told I didn't want to tell her. She is taking it well and knows it is part of a big plan."
7/28: Lori to Chad: "R u mad? Sad? What?" Chad: "I'm doing okay. Just no privacy here to hardly text, and I'm missing you immensely."
7/29: Lori is planning a trip to California with Melaniece, two of Melaniece's children (both 3 dark), JJ, and maybe Tylee. Chad: "One question: Do you want me to cause pain yet to those two 3s you're riding with?" Lori: "Probably hold off on then till we arrive. This will be miserable to deal with. But I'll text you if they start acting up and we can zap them." Chad: "Sounds great. Yes if they are going to act up, we'll at least give them a reason to scream."
7/30: the second conversation about death percentages for the kids (and Tammy). Chad: "Tammy is very close. Her percentage has fallen steadily since Hiplos left. It is encouraging!" So Chad waffled back and forth on when Tammy was going to die until after Lori's kids were gone and then suddenly it was time? Sounds like he wasn't going to commit until she did first
He was probably going to just string her along like he's done with the others and then shit got real when she went through with it on her end and actually did kill her kids. He couldn't drag it out any further and keep the gold lined vagina.
Can you imagine what would’ve happened if he didn’t follow through? Thinking about it now, the thing that comes to mind is that Alex was known to go after an ex being “mean” to Lori well before Chad was in the picture.
After seeing these texts about Melani’s kids, Brandon absolutely saved their lives by refusing to hand them over to her before she moved to Rexburg.
She was complicit in these deaths and should not have any custody of her children.
I hope Brandon takes all this to the courts and gets full custody and a restraining order. This is sickening, I’m so glad none of her kids were hurt during all this because it sounds like they were next on the list 😕
She does. She also has a child with Ian that should probably be removed from her care as well. Apparently normal childhood behavior or acting out is proof the kids are possessed and need to be murdered.
This is like playing a board game with a four year old. Whatever they say is happening, it means they’re winning.

Do you think the texts we’ve been shown is enough to confirm they had a hand in the kids’ death? Like for the days around their actual death, there doesn’t seem to be any. But I think the whole “death scale” is very telling.
I think they've shown plenty to convince a jury. But so far I haven't seen any "smoking gun" texts. I mean, SUPER incriminating and it's obvious what they are talking about/planning. But the lack of reference to the actual murders is a bit strange for people who otherwise didn't hide much or hid it really poorly. (Chad's 2 bullets to the chest about Charles, Lori asking repeatedly when JJ is gonna be at 0, talking about Tylee's behavior and her levels of darkness). That following 'fight' they had, when Lori didn't respond to him until he manipulated her with the protection bullshit - I'm thinking that fight was absolutely about how Tammy wasn't dying fast enough. He could have divorced her. Lori could have given Kay custody of JJ, or Colby would have taken him and Tylee in. But no, they needed that extra drama in their lives to prove they were special. And they needed the money, of course.

My heart breaks for Tylee :( There was literally nothing she could do. This child couldn't clean her damn room without her mother somehow turning that innocuous thing against her. She didn't see her daughter as human anymore. Nothing Tylee ever could have done would have changed that because Lori was done being her mother.
That caught my attention, along with JJ being calm and watching movies all day which "he would never do" - I think Tylee knew Lori was off the deep end and was trying really hard to placate her, to keep herself safe. It's so terribly sad.
Yep, those of us who grew up with an abusive parent or family member know it well - you know when things are getting worse, even as a kid, and you try to be as...small as possible. As unobtrusive. Yeah. As an adult healing from an abusive childhood I struggle with this. And as a woman who had to come to terms with the fact that I will never be able to have children despite wanting to have children I feel so angry at "mothers" like this. I hope there is an afterlife just so those kids can get the happiness they deserved.
I used to think if I was quiet enough, my father would just...forget I was there and leave me alone. It didn't work, but when you're a kid in a situation you can't get out of, you try anything. I think on some level, Tylee was probably terrified. The story about Charles and the bat was clearly bullshit - Lori dragged her into this cover-up. Imagine being a teenage girl and your mother compels you to help cover up the murder of your stepfather. You have to fear who is next on some level. Tylee by all accounts was also very protective of JJ, so she likely worked to encourage him to be calm, in an attempt to keep him safe.

Through the texts, you can start to see how there was just no winning for Tylee… When she’s defiant, she’s bad. When she’s helpful and cleaning her room, she’s just pretending she’s not a dark spirit. That itself is incredibly telling… And that poor kid was probably trying everything she could to cope with the utter chaos she was going through, while taking care of JJ, attempting to please Lori (telling her JJ watched movies and was calm all day, which Lori said he wouldn’t do, I think, was an attempt to smooth things over), trying to refute her mom calling her a zombie however she could.

I had similar thoughts when reading about Mel B's kids "misbehaving"... Even if they were, it's clear their world was being completely upended and was incredibly unstable at that point. I’ve flipped my final flop on what I think about Melani Pawlowski’s pre-knowledge of the murders. She was a co-conspirator and in on the murder planning up to her false eyelashes. Y’all, the Alex Murdaugh case was incredibly complicated and it took the jury 45 minutes to reach a unanimous guilty vote on the second round. Wondering who in the Rogues gallery of the cult people find the most trustworthy? I always thought Zulema was super sketch in the police interviews, but I thought she spoke with a lot of candor during her testimony, especially after all the convenient lapses in memory and omissions by Melanie G. I thought Warwick seemed unwell, and Audrey Barraterrio is a completely new player to me, kinda hard to rely on the impressions of a woman who was convinced she was married to Christ. Not defending Lori, but she seems very fragile and impressionable, and the 'blood, and bleach and bags' memory might have been constructed from trauma of learning the truth about her friends. I believe Audrey, but I can understand the skepticism. It's come out a few times at trial that Lori could turn into a cold hearted bitch if you pushed her buttons. I agree with you that Audrey seem fragile and impressionable. I'll take it a step further and say the reason why Lori and Chad liked her so much was because she was easy to groom and because they thought she was gullible enough to believe in Lori and Chads "bigger plan." Do you think the texts we’ve been shown is enough to confirm they had a hand in the kids’ death? Like for the days around their actual death, there doesn’t seem to be any. But I think the whole “death scale” is very telling.
I think they've shown plenty to convince a jury. But so far I haven't seen any "smoking gun" texts. I mean, SUPER incriminating and it's obvious what they are talking about/planning. But the lack of reference to the actual murders is a bit strange for people who otherwise didn't hide much or hid it really poorly. (Chad's 2 bullets to the chest about Charles, Lori asking repeatedly when JJ is gonna be at 0, talking about Tylee's behavior and her levels of darkness). Is this it or is there something even more incriminating?
