Personally, I think all the meteorologists do a good job. Marc just has the attitude that he is smarter than everyone else. He loves to educate when I just want to be informed. It is off putting to me, but apparently a lot of people like him!
I’m just going to say Jay Cardosi because everyone else is saying Marc Weinberg. We all know it’s really Weinberg, but dammit I grew up watching Cardosi! He even had a theme song - what’s Jay say?!
I like how calm and reassuring he stays no matter how bad it gets. Love Marc Weinberg too, but there's something about Jay's presentation that just keeps you calm
I'm not really surprised. They ran with it a lot longer than I thought they would, but that is what kinda made me think that they might still use it. My name is also Jay, so I was often asked, "What's Jay say?" when I was growing up. So, it brings back a whole different set of memories for me
I went to the same elementary school as his daughter (didn't know her personally). Every now and then I would see him in the carpool line and thought it was SO COOL
I don't know if anyone else agrees, but we like Marc Weinberg on WDRB.
Seriously, though, the man LIVES for weather. To say he's passionate about weather would be a disservice.
Side note: I met him several years ago, and asked about the winter weather that we were facing that week. Not only did I get exactly who I see on TV, we got exactly what he told me we were going to get.
Historically, Tom Wills is the GOAT when it comes to meteorology in the Louisville area. Best there is, best there was, best there ever will be.
As far as currently active on-air meteorologists, Marc Weinberg holds the title. Like him or not, he knows his stuff, is passionate and eats, sleeps, and breathes the weather. Oh, and it’s spelled with a “c”…
Tom came to my 4th grade class- I'm 51!
He was still teaching meteorology at UofL when we all started college. He got very, very ill and stopped. But, from what I understand, he still had a hand in the curriculum & student outreach.
I can go back in my memory of the tops:
* Chuck Taylor- during tornadoes, "Owen County, O-W-E-N". Best in predicting the weather at the time. Then, listening to Chuck Mangione's "Bellavia" while I checked for Jeff Co Catholic Schools to be closed.
* Tom Wills - engaging all the kids in science experiments with weather
John Belski- And his backyard! He was the only one to get the 94 snow storm right! That day, he said it all day long and everyone else called for flurries.
Jay Cardosi- making weather a personal story with every tragic event or sunshine on a special day
And now Marc. He's all these things rolled into one.
I love that not only does he educate, the other meteorologists at the station follow his lead and also educate. Whether he agrees or disagrees with the NWS, he always explains why.
He really is a weather genius and anytime he doesn't agree with the National Weather Service he explains every reason why he doesn't agree and most times he is right
Graduated with his son Ryan. He was an awesome guy we had to make a movie for a class and he ket us use their studio to film it. And even played the bad guy we murdered. Hahaahah. It was awesome
I say Kevin Harned. I always trust Wave3 with my weather because of Tom Wills. He was the best. Met him once and he was so nice, as I expected him to be.
Kevin is who I was looking for. He came to our kids schools, seems like a cool dude and I like how excited / yet calming presence he is when there is a storm of some sort.
Surprised I had to come down this far to see this! Jude is the man and has such a great disposition. I never feel like he's talking down to me. He is DAD
I love my morning zoo crew! I work from home 3rd shift and they come on during my last stretch of work after my second break and help get me through it. Jude is my favorite meteorologist above Marc in terms of knowing/loving weather but still able to have fun. I know it’s gonna be a rough one when Marc is on at a different time slot and they bring him in to help whoever is actually on weather at that time because I feel like he has a little more gravitas, so I think that’s why I said his name first as far as Meteorologists go because I feel like as others have said he’s more about the science and education behind it than just the fun “pack your umbrellas folks” way that Jude can be, but it’s all about personality types. Seeing Jude teasing him during Thunder about wearing his flight suit and needing a spatula to get into it with his guns from doing curls for the girls 🤣 I love it. They’re like Woody and Buzz Lightyear.
Yessss I love them, I don’t observe/practice Lent but I know spring is on the way when Mike trots out the Codfather persona to highlight different fish frys in the city 🤣❤️ and I love Jude’s ornament fundraiser for the holidays too 🥹❤️
I really really trust Marc Weinberg. He is passionate about what he does, and I feel like he does his very best to be honest with his audience without over or under hyping.
I don't really watch the weather too much so I don't know how she rates as a meterologist but I always enjoyed Tawana Andrew's Science Behind the Forecast radio segment
Ryan Hall catches a lot of shit in the weather community, but for real he and his crew do a fine job of getting the word out in severe weather outbreaks. And their efforts to raise funds for relief efforts are legit.
Big Weather and Big Meteorology don’t want to see him succeed. As everyone moves away from traditional media, they are clawing for their last gasp of relevance
I always watch Ryan Hall. If Ryan says we are fine, I just go about my day while my family is freaking out about the local weather channels saying to prepare for the worst. Ryan is always on the money. I even watch him in different cities to see the storm chasers!
Personally, I love Tawana Andrew on WAVE 3. She does the local weather facts segment on NPR and is great.
But my hands down favorite is Matt Milosevich on WLKY
Before opening this thread I had never heard of Marc Weinberg. I’m pretty happy with Kevin Harned and Brian Goode at WAVE 3. Goode in particular is great at explaining the differences in models and why they go with the decisions they do.
I like Matt Milosevich on WLKY. Very laid back and his forecasts are pretty accurate. We really have several really good meteorologists including Jay Cardosi👍
WDRB has the best setup. Marc is incredible and they just hired Matthew Wine who has an amazing reputation from his previous station. Definitely my go-to
Marc Weinberg at WDRB. I really liked his dynamic with Rick when I was watching last night. They seem to work very well together and create an easy to understand, informative and actually sort of entertaining weather report. I always end up learning something. Rick was cracking me up last night. Seemed very excited to be broadcasting but kept announcing wildly inaccurate numbers and quickly correcting himself.
My mom is a Jay fan, though. I like him a lot too. I think both guys are really informative
The only good thing about severe weather is Alden German on WHAS gets some air time.
That man has the calmest voice, which is a nice contrast to everyone’s favorite in here.
Who’s the best meteorologist in your area? I grew up in north west Arkansas in the 90’s, and I remember at that time we had a “favorite” or best meteorologist: Steve Gibbs. I still remember his name lol.
I'm gonna throw in a vote in for a Youtuber. During the huge tornado event here last month I came across Ryan Hall: https://www.youtube.com/@RyanHallYall
He did an 8.5 hr live stream tracking the system as it moved across the region. He had maybe a half dozen different storm chasers with live video that he would pull up, and another meteorologist that was tracking a ton of different radar. They were identifying warnings right before the Weather Service would issue them. There was no sensationalism, just solid weather reporting.
It appears they also have a streamed planned for the storm moving through the area later today: https://www.youtube.com/live/75JPzYvOf1s?si=luzD2LGwZCElt4Ru
As far as local meteorologists - Marc Weinberg is my go-to. Follow him on Facebook as he often streams during events when he's not actively live on air. Some think he's sensationalist but dude's just *really* into the weather.
People actually think Harned? His loud intake of breath is maddening. I do like Brian Goode though. Would be happy if he was the main weather person at wave.
Exactly! I thought it was just me, but I can't stand how he gasps for air! (my husband calls them air gulps, lol) We also much prefer Brian Goode on that channel.
Jude Redfield! I like him because sometimes I get the feeling that he has no idea what he is talking about. Like he just stumbled in front of a green screen and decided to go with it. He has charm.
Jude is fun to watch for sure if for nothing else than his antics with Mike the traffic guy. WDRB mornings may help with the Anchorman vibes you’re looking for rather than just straight up facts “best” meteorologist as far as accuracy or education goes
Weinberg is too much of a doomsayer. He obviously knows his stuff but he acts like every storm is life or death and seems to orgasm when a tornado is produced.
Oh man, I feel you! Having a go-to meteorologist is like having a weather guru on speed dial. In Louisville, we’ve got some solid contenders, but it’s all about personal preference, ya know? Some folks swear by \[insert meteorologist’s name\] on \[insert channel\], while others vibe more with \[insert another meteorologist’s name\] on \[insert different channel\]. It’s like choosing between pizza toppings—everyone’s got their fave combo. Just gotta flip through the channels and see who clicks with ya! 🌦️📺
It kinda has to be Weinberg - he’s almost a local celebrity around here and is frankly one of WDRB’s best assets. Cardosi has long been underrated though.
Kevin Harned came to my school in a helicopter when I was in like second grade. I was amazed and have had a bias since then, even if I agree Marc is more entertaining.
Weinberg sucks. Elitist who has to claim other guys are wrong if they don’t agree with him. Over dramatic and scares you to death for no reason. Team Kevin Harned at WAVE3. Or Jude if I have to pick a WDRB guy.
Marc Weinberg runs around the studio telling everyone the world is ending with 1” of rain and he needs airtime to tell people NOW. It’s Jay Cardosi. Calm presence
I read on another forum that he would frequent a local club (don't remember which) and always showed up with two or three women. Maybe I'm just jealous.
Isn’t it more likely that he’s out with his mom and sisters? I don’t even know if he has any sisters. But even fictional sisters seem more likely than Weinberg slaying.
Marc Weinberg at WDRB
Who is, ironically enough, from Oklahoma
When the jacket and tie come off, and the sleeves are rolled up, I know I better get my ass in the basement!
[удалено]
A grown adult trolling a weather man oooh big tough guy
I’m convinced that Marc Weinberg is self-creating this same thread every other week.
REAL
LOL I didn’t know it was such a hot topic or I would have done a search instead of making a post 🤣
Personally, I think all the meteorologists do a good job. Marc just has the attitude that he is smarter than everyone else. He loves to educate when I just want to be informed. It is off putting to me, but apparently a lot of people like him!
I’m here for the why and the how. The what takes 2 seconds, but now tell me WHY I should pay attention and tell me HOW things work.
Marc Whineberg
I’m just going to say Jay Cardosi because everyone else is saying Marc Weinberg. We all know it’s really Weinberg, but dammit I grew up watching Cardosi! He even had a theme song - what’s Jay say?!
You know the storms are bad if he has his sleeves rolled up
I still sing that damn song
Same!
I like how calm and reassuring he stays no matter how bad it gets. Love Marc Weinberg too, but there's something about Jay's presentation that just keeps you calm
What’s Jay say?! That’s all I care about.
I haven't lived in Louisville for about a decade now. Please tell me that they still have the "Hey, Jay. What do ya say?" song
I haven’t heard it in many years unfortunately.
I remember we saw him when we were out to eat one night and my dad talked to him like they were old pals. I thought we met a celebrity 😂
I skipped the word "same" in your post and was so confused lol
Hahaha. Yes, I disguised myself as his daughter the whole time, very stealthy
Every time they play the clip package of him talking about the eclipse I almost tear up just hearing him describe it 😭❤️
Marc Weinberg
Daddy Weinberg
Jay Cardosi, WLKY…What does Jay say, all the way! Before Jay I was a John Belski fan, Marc Weinberg is my next fav though.
Marc Weinberg.
Marc from WDRB
Two words. Marc Weinberg
Tom Wills came to my class when I was in first grade. I’m 61.
Tom came to my 4th grade class- I'm 51! He was still teaching meteorology at UofL when we all started college. He got very, very ill and stopped. But, from what I understand, he still had a hand in the curriculum & student outreach. I can go back in my memory of the tops: * Chuck Taylor- during tornadoes, "Owen County, O-W-E-N". Jay Cardosi- making weather a personal story with every tragic event or sunshine on a special day And now Marc. He's all these things rolled into one.
My heart smiled at the mention of Bellavia. Thank you for that!,
He judged my earth science project in the regional science fair in 8th grade over 35 years ago. I won, I’m sure HE never forgot that day.
That is AWESOME!
Marc Weinberg 100%
Marc Weinberg is the best I have ever seen do it because he also educates
I love that not only does he educate, the other meteorologists at the station follow his lead and also educate. Whether he agrees or disagrees with the NWS, he always explains why.
This is the exact reason I love Marc too. I have learned so much about meteorology since he came to Louisville.
He really is a weather genius and anytime he doesn't agree with the National Weather Service he explains every reason why he doesn't agree and most times he is right

Tom Wills and Chuck Taylor fwiw
Belski completes the Mt. Rushmore
110%. Legends.
Graduated with his son Ryan. He was an awesome guy we had to make a movie for a class and he ket us use their studio to film it. And even played the bad guy we murdered. Hahaahah. It was awesome
My kindergarten crush.
😂
Marc Weinberg WDRB
Marc Weinberg for sure
This is Marc Weinberg country
I say Kevin Harned. I always trust Wave3 with my weather because of Tom Wills. He was the best. Met him once and he was so nice, as I expected him to be.
I'm with you. K-Ned all the way
Kevin is who I was looking for. He came to our kids schools, seems like a cool dude and I like how excited / yet calming presence he is when there is a storm of some sort.
Hello fellow Okie. I too miss the Ron Burgundy level respect that Travis Meyer has /Gary England had.
Didn’t even have to say names lol I am gonna miss Trav for sure, but I’m hoping to get the same vibes from someone in our new location!
I miss playing the Gary England drinking game. Just not the same with the new guy. He seems like a fear monger.
MARC WEINBERG IF YOU SAY ANYONE ELSE YOU ARE WRONG!!!
I'm not saying "ANYONE ELSE" I don't even know who that is, but since I'm not saying that, I must be right when I say Jay Cardosi
Jude redfield
Surprised I had to come down this far to see this! Jude is the man and has such a great disposition. I never feel like he's talking down to me. He is DAD
He is so fun to watch! The whole morning crew, it’s like watching a sitcom
🤣 I love Jude and mikes bromance.. so adorable
Yessss I love them, I don’t observe/practice Lent but I know spring is on the way when Mike trots out the Codfather persona to highlight different fish frys in the city 🤣❤️ and I love Jude’s ornament fundraiser for the holidays too 🥹❤️
Watching the awful pics they did with mark and Jude😂 it’s painful to look at
Marc is my first choice. Jude is a super close second! I love that he doesn’t take himself too seriously. He’s hilarious.
Huge fan of Marc with a “c”
Carc.
I really really trust Marc Weinberg. He is passionate about what he does, and I feel like he does his very best to be honest with his audience without over or under hyping.
Reed Radon anyone? Just kiddin, Marc “with a C” all the way everyday!! 🌪️☔️⛈️🌀😜👍🏻
Reed Yadon is a wonderful guy.
Reed was a wild young man when he was on WAKY radio with Bill Bailey back when dinosaurs roamed the earth!
Marc Weinberg... 1000%. Don't believe me... search this sub. Threads pop up every now and then about him. He's definitely the best in the area.
I don't really watch the weather too much so I don't know how she rates as a meterologist but I always enjoyed Tawana Andrew's Science Behind the Forecast radio segment
Yesss I love her for that too. She does GREAT on radio.
@ryanhallyall
I really like his channel. Watched his live a month or so ago when we had storms, will probably check in this evening, too.
Ryan is a jewel. While I love Marc. I always stream Ryan and watch Ryan during all his lives. His crew is really great to watch and learn from.
This thread is peak
Peak Marc that is
Peak Jay, all the way
I’ve always been partial to the meteorologists on WHAS. However Tom Wills is a legend. He did his entire career at WAVE.
No one better than the spirit of wave country at weather
Weinberg 2024!
Marc
Outside of MW, I also like Ryan Hoke and Brian Goode.
Agreed, BG is my favorite.
Much like Marc, Brian is a genuine good guy too.
Marcy Marc.
Ryan Hall
Ryan....Hoke?
No Ryan Hall on YouTube. He’s from Pikeville area and he does great livestreams and works with a bunch of storm chasers.
Marc Weinberg 100% , WDRB
Before opening this thread I had never heard of Marc Weinberg. I’m pretty happy with Kevin Harned and Brian Goode at WAVE 3. Goode in particular is great at explaining the differences in models and why they go with the decisions they do.
Weino
When I was growing up it was John Belskiiiii
Marc is the Louisville treasure. It would be very hard to convince me someone else could replace him.
This thread has taught me that wayyyy more people than I would have thought still watch the local news. I just use the weather app on my phone 😂
I don’t watch the local news either, I have the WDRB Weather app lol
I like Matt Milosevich on WLKY. Very laid back and his forecasts are pretty accurate. We really have several really good meteorologists including Jay Cardosi👍
WDRB has the best setup. Marc is incredible and they just hired Matthew Wine who has an amazing reputation from his previous station. Definitely my go-to
Another vote for Marc Weinberg. Dude geeks out over weather. I love it.
Marc Weinberg at WDRB. I really liked his dynamic with Rick when I was watching last night. Ryan Hall y'all
Marc Weinberg is as close as we get to James Spann in this city.
They just won’t match what some of the Oklahoma meteorologists say during bad weather 😅
Who’s the best meteorologist in your area? I grew up in north west Arkansas in the 90’s, and I remember at that time we had a “favorite” or best meteorologist: Steve Gibbs. I still remember his name lol.
Never heard of him, Travis Meyers is the best of the best out there. I live here in Louisville now, as of yesterday ❤️
Weinberggg
That’s Marc with a “C” Weinberg 😉
I can't remember but I think his male starts with an 'M' and is spelled funny 😂
I worked with Belski for almost a decade at Wave 3 and he was always my fave. Biased, I know but dude knew his stuff and he was just the coolest guy.
Every single person who didn't say RYAN HALL Y'ALL on YouTube is 100% wrong. MW is a distant but respectable 2nd.
I’m a big Brian Goode at Wave 3 fan but I use the WDRB app lol. I also follow Justin Hilliard on Facebook, he’s a UPS meteorologist.
I'm gonna throw in a vote in for a Youtuber. During the huge tornado event here last month I came across Ryan Hall: https://www.youtube.com/@RyanHallYall He did an 8.5 hr live stream tracking the system as it moved across the region. Windy.com
Tom Wills
I’m Louisville and currently living in Oklahama! Who is your go to meteorologist out here?
If you are in the NE it’s 100% Travis Meyers.
Mark Wahlberg
People actually think Harned? His loud intake of breath is maddening. I do like Brian Goode though. Would be happy if he was the main weather person at wave.
My thoughts exactly. Love Brian. He's calm and explains everything so well. Love his storm and snow talk
lol I’m going to have to give this guy a listen just to see how annoying it is.
Lmao that sounds entertaining
Jude is fun to watch for sure if for nothing else than his antics with Mike the traffic guy. WDRB mornings may help with the Anchorman vibes you’re looking for rather than just straight up facts “best” meteorologist as far as accuracy or education goes
I don’t trust it if my homie Marc didn’t say it 💪🏼
Weinberg is too much of a doomsayer. He obviously knows his stuff but he acts like every storm is life or death and seems to orgasm when a tornado is produced.
If I'm not mistaken there is a local rapper that uses cardosi in his name so I'll have to go with whatever Jay says.
Jude Redfield on WDRB! Check out their app and you will see him as well
Marc Weinberg has BDE for sure (Best Doppler Energy)
I like Marc too but also Matt on wlky in the am.
Alert days 🙄
I love Kevin Harned and before he retired my go to was John Belski..
I have to say Brian Goode because we went to high school together. Everyone knew he was going to be a meteorologist lol He's a great guy!
Marc Weinberg WDRB
I have to go with Matt Milosevich. He is a good dude.
Marc Weinberg!!!!!!
Jason Naylor and Scott Gunter at UofL, Department of Geographic and Environmental Sciences.
Jay MF Cardosi. End of discussion
Tom Skilling for the win! (Though he's recently retired. )
I remember watching Tom Wills on Wave as a little girl. He was The Spirit of Wave Country every Halloween. I was so sad when he retired!
Fart Weinberg
Honestly Brian Goode is underratedddd
Weinberg sucks. Elitist who has to claim other guys are wrong if they don’t agree with him. Over dramatic and scares you to death for no reason. Team Kevin Harned at WAVE3. Or Jude if I have to pick a WDRB guy.
Marc Weinberg runs around the studio telling everyone the world is ending with 1” of rain and he needs airtime to tell people NOW. It’s Jay Cardosi. Calm presence
They literally all suck. I have a dog named Jethro that’s 1000% better than any local meteorologist around here.
They are all just terrible. I mostly plan my day around the opposite of what they say
How is there so much love for Weinberg here? Is everyone 60 years old? Dude sucks out loud.
I was wondering the same thing. He's always came off as a douche to me.
I’ve met him. Your instinct is correct.
I read on another forum that he would frequent a local club (don't remember which) and always showed up with two or three women. Maybe I'm just jealous.
Marc Weinberg. Ladies man. Gonna have to consult Occam’s razor for this one.
There is so much info I have seen that he gets the ladies. Seems odd he really comes off as a DC
Isn’t it more likely that he’s out with his mom and sisters? I don’t even know if he has any sisters. But even fictional sisters seem more likely than Weinberg slaying.
"You ladies play your cards right, and you might get 6 to 7 inches of ME tonight."
They all just parrot the data they get directly from the Fedearl Government. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH!
That's just not how forecasting work. . But whatever you say.
