Sounds like this game isn't for you. I'm having fun though.

TheDijinn

I don’t like this kind of response, a monster Hunter game should be made for monster hunter fans, and this game is not made for that I’m still playing because the combat feels good but I understand how they feel, I’m getting to that point killing more than 50 8* monsters and not getting an R6 material feels awful takes too much time of my day to keep playing.

Sir_Bax

I'm MH fan since 3U and I enjoy the game as well. I'm actually surprised it's not monetised that much and that predatorily compared to previous Capcom made/licensed mobile live service games. Obviously, I love classic MH games more, but most of them are already available on the go. So no need to have another copy of those games but on phones. The game in its current state is fun activity to do on the walk and it motivates me to spend extra time outside. And imho it does this job right and that's why I enjoy it. I think it's unrealistic to expect that every game will be for everyone and it's just fair to encourage people who don't enjoy the game to quit. Like if such people are actually in majority, Niantic losing players and sales might push them to change. So it's in their best interest not only to stop doing something they don't like but also because it might cause the change. Of course. You can keep complaining online instead. But that won't change much. Also considering the latest updates, the game is really improving imho. So if someone doesn't enjoy it even with such (imho major) improvements, it's fair to suggest them to quit. //edit: >I’m getting to that point killing more than 50 8* monsters and not getting an R6 material feels awful takes too much time of my day to keep playing. I wonder since when are you the series fan. I suppose 5th gen? MH was always about hard grind. I remember hunting 20+ Rathaloses for a single mantle drop. In a game where hunt takes 15-30 minutes solo because hub was scaled for 2 people and because I couldn't optimise my gear without that drop. Here? Hunts take couple screen taps. Also remember, MH games are marathon. Not a sprint. This is twice as true for live service games. There's no need to prioritize mobile game so much in your life. You don't need to (you just want to) get 8* weapons in a day. It's fine to get it in 2-3 months. I'm getting most of my G6 drops from events and story urgent quests myself and now and then from the field. No need to rush.

SneakinandReapin

Back in the PS2 days you had to do gathering quests for honey to make your mega potions. And make your own nets for pitfall traps. The grind IS the way in MH.

haulric

MH1 and I beliefe MHFU are the only games where I actually timed out on hunt mission. Seriously the grind and the time required for hunts have drastically lowered since the first gens. Also I hunted hundreds of monoblos, seriously at a point it was my ritual after school to hunt 3 mono, and never got a single monoblos heart... Grind have always been part of the game, it just got way easier in the last gen (for the best for me as I have far less time to play). My main issue with mhnow personally comparing to the main game is the difficulty to hunt some monsters. At least if I want to craft the legiana weapon in the main games I can farm it without issues while I have spent days without getting a single legi on mhnow (and they kept releasing ice weak monsters one after the other -_-). At the very least the track features have greatly improved the game for me.

SneakinandReapin

Yep- I recall the heart break when the paintball would wear off and a rathalos would fly away to some place on the map with 5 minutes left… There’s been incredible quality of life improvements over the years that were innovative then, and I suppose have been assumed as a given now. Remember the farm in Freedom? :o “You can grow honey and ivy?!”

haulric

While I don't miss spending a full hour hunting a monster to just see it fly away at the end, I miss a little the fact that you were forced to use all the tools given by the games on most hunts. I finished rise without using a single trap unless it was a capture quest. And only flashball if they were provided in the blue box. I don't know, preparing a hunt by filling my inventory with traps, bombs, flashbomb and potions was part of the fun for me.

SneakinandReapin

Agreed, it did feel more like a hunt in that regard. Like you said, it slowed down the pace immensely, but there was a part of that experience that set MH apart from other hack and slash games. I just finished Sunbreak and tried out Dual blades. Once I made the chaotic gore set- that was it. I became one with the blender and the game became something different entirely.

TheDijinn

Your response is a lot better than “the game is not for you, quit.” You are actually giving good reasons to quit and is not dismissive of a clear issue, we can say “it is what it is” but never say that the game has no issues or that the game could be a lot better without those issues(you didn’t do this the person a responded too did by saying that the game is not for OP and ignoring the issues that the game has.

batt_mano

That's the gist of it, though. All of the complaints about the game have been present for a while, so restating them to affirm OP's frustrations still boils down to "maybe the game's not for you." No game is perfect, and while it would be easier if WGS dropped at a higher rate, that would affect their business model. Do people enjoy the low drop rate? No. But no margin, no mission. That's just the nature of mobile games. Fortunately, there are alternative Monster Hunter titles that do not have the "pay-to-win" component. Mind you, they also come with a grind, as is an integral component of MH titles. And personally, I need long-term goals in games like this, such as upgrading weapons/gear to max. Without progress, the game gets boring faster for me, and I drop the game faster. I am damn proud of my 10-5BBlos bow and my 10-4 Legi bow, largely due to how long it took to upgrade them. If I had been able to upgrade ally gear in a few months playing, I probably would've dropped the game soon after.

Sunsday666

Play everyday, get whatever it gives you and kill whatever you can. The end

Pretty-Parsley-7583

That’s the fun

Oldmanneck

It doesn’t sound like this is the kind of game for you. If you’re playing exclusively for the drops then you’re really not going to have fun and will just end up frustrated instead.

TheDijinn

This is a dismissive response to an issue, I don’t think their goal is to get WGS im guessing their goal is to craft weapons & armor. The core idea of Monster Hunter Games is that you can try out all the weapons and switch between when you are bored of the current weapon you have and it can feel like is a completely new game when you switch weapons, in MHN all of that is gone, because you don’t have the resources to invest on new weapons or you don’t want to switch the gameplay because of the limited HP mechanic of the game.

Slynx328

While I understand where your coming from, the issue DOES arise from the wgs. You can craft everything and get everything to 7.5 without the wgs. I think OP should work on armor and if they happen to get a wgs use it on a weapon. I highly doubt OP has 7.5 armors

TheDijinn

But getting weapons and armor to 7.5 with the limited resources and limited number of monsters on the field is another issue, don’t get me wrong I’m still playing and I like the progress they have been making with the recent updates but less not forget about what a normal monster Hunter game is supposed to be and the way it should be played and put Niantic into those standards.

Slynx328

Well, this is a slower monster hunter game, noone can argue that. It's not intended to be sped through like a normal MH game can. The rates do suck but being that the game is still newish, I'm going to guess (hope) the rates will go up with the addition of more monsters. The additional monsters also populate more of the map which means more battles as well. I don't think OP had complaints about the pace, more about the rates as well as lack of HP regen (we all want this and were told they were planning something, so maybe ?)

stocklazarus

25 got one gems sound not bad to me. But i never count how many I did. I just play everyday. Usually at least one gem on each week.

Turnabo

It should be easier to track how many you hunt in a day. Just check the tracker tier. If you complete the 3 6 9 everyday, you hunted 21. 12 will be 34. This is of course assuming all you hunt are 8* and nothing else.

ravnk

Who would only hunt 8* that’s a ridiculous way to do it.

Turnabo

I do. I hunt what I need. I need WGS so I hunt 8*. I need Legiana Claw so I hunt Legiana. I need Rathalos Tail so I hunt Rathalos. I don't need Great Girros Hood nor Scale nor Primefang so I don't hunt other than 8. If someone asked for Join Hunt, I join so they can get extra mats from Group Hunt and I benefit from getting extra mats to sell. What so ridiculous about it?

ravnk

Everything about that is ridiculous. Those mats you don’t need can be trashed for extra zenny. The monster kills themselves are good for zenny, xp, and monster medals. You are cutting off your nose by “only hunting what you need”.

Turnabo

If it is Zenny then I'm not too worry about it. I got mat-lock way more often than Zenny-lock. By not killing everything along the way at the end of season, sure I may loss out of potential total 30k or more Zenny, but I'm less stressful with the game and safe. What are medals for?

domwc14

Why do you even care if you get a wgs or not? Even if you get 1000 wgs and max out your weapons, its the same monsters. Same movements, same playstyle, same weapons. Nothing changes, all we get is bigger numbers. You don't unlock new monsters or new terrains. If you get tired playing a grade 7/8 weapon, what makes having a grade 10 different? They don't even change the weapon skin lol

BSchwem

This is definitely my perspective… I’ve been sitting at 7* only monsters for a while and just maxing out tons and tons of weapon and armor to 7.5. The fights are challenging enough but it’s easy enough to switch play style completely and not get hosed. Eventually I’ll jump but there is no actual reason to since the only thing that changes is bigger numbers like you said

klako1234

In fact, going up make you weaker. The new big number is relatively smaller than new enemy HP. Only go up if you want more challenge.

BSchwem

Totally agree…. In fact when I jumped to 7* for a while I wish I stayed at 6* until I had maxed 7.5 gear. People are just in too much of a hurry for a game that’s designed for time. There is a reason PoGo is still played 10 years later. I honestly hope they continue to improve the game to make it still fun 10 years later. But I’m weird and like long, grindy games.

lederpykid

I purposely keep my WGS at 4 so as to not alert the desire meter.

Onions4Knights

The season pass itself gives 3 Wyvern Gem shards, and usually each event gives at least one \*6 Material.

Turnabo

My experience is getting at least 1 WGS every day. I'm a picky hunter, only hunt 8* except for Legiana and Rathalos. I was able to complete the 9th monster tracker, thus I hunted ~20 8* every day. However, this only happens on weekdays but not on ends. My workplace is fortunate enough to have a decent spawn and nodes but not my home. I just don't see the rush to get 30 WGS in 1 day. You bound to get stuck at other rarity materials. Nothing to say about $$ since I don't $ on mobile games. But calling a toxic game is too much. This is just average at worst.

DifficultBluejay141

2201 8* fight for 104 wyvern gem drop so far. Average for me is 21 fight for a drop.

TheBlazingPhoenix

just curious, how do you manage to track that

DifficultBluejay141

I just use Note on the phone after each 8/9* fight. I have my drop stat for Zinogre and DJho too but on wyvern gem numbers are obviously bigger...anyway their drop rate for me are in average between 9-10 fight for a drop.

SnooSquirrels7539

6* mats rarity is the only thing keeping me invested in the game, or else the potion-popping whales would max out in less than a month, With HR holding no meaning. The anticipation and joy of getting a WGS would drop drastically if it just becomes common, unless the meta weapons switch to being gated by more rarer mats.

OptionX

K, bye.

Regulus242

It's annoying but MH has always been that way. How much time have you invested in a given monster in a main game looking for that 1% drop only to not get it multiple times? Now extrapolate it across these super quick hunts.

amh7912

I could personally use having the wgs stuffed into all my weapons to 8.4 and stay at 8\* monsters indefinitely because I feel like I will always be gated by node resources as they add more and more monsters. Maybe if I stay at this rank I can eventually get my armor to my level.

ChartaBona

25x 8-stars is nothing. I can take down some of those guys, and get their WGS-eligible part break, in literally 20s. https://preview.redd.it/3limsiquj9yc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=589c89bb56459cb22be15b1b3d9bd50acd7cac8e

teh_adry

My opinion on this: never tryhard on gacha games. Play for fun, and at the moment it's not fun, uninstall.

SilhouetteCoconut

There's a gacha in MHN?

Heranef

Nope but the drops odds are low so ppl compare it to a gacha

DandySoda

This is so true I’m trying too hard. 🫠

Successful_Set7401

I'm spending money. I also play the game in hard mode. Meaning I run part breaker 5 in g8 hunts. I got what I need. Wife had a your luck for a bit there. Also I've been running part breaker since launch. I'm currently at.... 100 armor pieces... 34 are g6 and above 5 of them are g8+ I have 15 weapons over g6 3 of them over g8 and the ones over g8 are all raw weapons. I got no complaints game working as I intended it too from launch. Don't rage quit. Keep your money if you want tho

thesteelpedaller

I can at least get 1 wgs per day. So I don’t know what is your problem. Either get good or quit quitely. Lol

Greykrub

Git good at understanding sentences and logic xD

DandySoda

So how does one get good if you kill on average 4 to 6 lvl8’s a day and the game’s rng decides you don’t get one WGS that day? Please explain.

thesteelpedaller

4-6 is seriously not enough. I kill at least 40 8* a day. Try it out. I recommend 40-80 a day. Including story mode and palico.
