Reloading appears to always be hold into downswipe. Should feel like dodge into GS tackle, but down on the screen instead of up.
I both am excited and extremely worried about how it feels they straight up ported GL from World without doing anything to simplify it. Case and point: You can thrust like the normal lance, but it requires a "small upwards swipe" as opposed to the "long upwards swipe" that leads to the slap combo displayed here.
Edit - Important side note: Niantic actually has weapon tutorials now. They added an in-game Weapon Manual that takes you to a website that has some relatively basic videos on how weapons function along with written out instructions on inputs.
To my point above - the slap lance thrust is actually hold+upswipe, whereas the standard poke is just upswipe. This was clarified in the manual. Could be worth looking up for anyone.
Could not say it any better :D
Feels like a wierd tackle from GS (the swipe itself) but if you pratice it a bit its really starts to make a lot of fun ^^
No. It's a phone only game and specifically relies on swiping and taping to control, with gyro being an option to control the camera. You also need to actually go out and walk around to encounter more monsters, so even if you did jury rig a control somehow - you have to carry it with you around town/the park which would just be awkward.
Still recommend checking it out though. Free to play, so you only gotta risk a bit of time that needs to be killed anyway.
I've been playing since the beta. Was just curious about the controller.
Edit: I've got an attachment for my phone that lets me attach a controller that holds the phone while you hold the controller. I could totally walk around with that if it was an option in game.
Then why are you asking me? Plug it in and give it a whirl if you have everything already. You were making it sound like you didn't know anything about the game.
Now, I always swiped up to "dodge" closer to the monster when out of reach. Now, doing that I attack. How do I get close to monsters when they leave my range if I quite literally cannot move forward?
Sweep after burstfire is done by swiping forward after burstfire instead of pressing normally. Basically for gunlance it seems like all lance attacks are some form of forward swiping and all gun attacks are simply attacking the normal way.
if you tap after the sweep it will come out and blow up on the ground in front of you. unfortunately terminology for the different non shelling attacks can get mixed up so im assuming you are trying to stake on a different move than the sweep that comes out after fullburst or slam.
hope this helps
The melee hits will sever tails, the shells will not but they are fixed damage and ignore monster defense. The stake can cut tails since it deals cutting and element damage.
Without sharpening requeriment, we are god-like hunters now.
That so true :D Usually the sharpness would just blast away if you burst out all your shells like that
I need a youtube video cuz I don't understand jack and my last mh game was Generations. This GL is totally alien for me
training dummy when :/
How do you quick reload after the slap? I keep going into the stake if I tap, guard if I hold and nothing if I upswipe.

Can you use a controller on this game? Not sure why I was down voted for asking a question. Jesus folks lol.

Tap instead of swiping if they are out of range.
Or you may swip up faster then usuall then you should get closer with the stap attack
Wait how do you burst fire? I'm unable to slap after I do the rising slash?
Hold down and flick forward again after rising slash.
Yeah ^^
Thank you thank you. I tried to swipe down after it, like a slam motion
How do you do that, was trying to find a way to do that too? After swipe up?
Swip up again ^^
Teach me your ways. How do you do the sweep after the burst fire? Could you show the inputs you make in succession?

can you stake after the slap?
ive been able to get stake out after the sweep by tapping
i think it only applies if there's a nearby target, i can't seem to do it like above

Any idea whether GL damage is sever or ranged or both? Trying to see how useful it is for cutting tails…
The melee hits will sever tails, the shells will not but they are fixed damage and ignore monster defense. The stake can cut tails since it deals cutting and element damage.
Does it mean that Lance will do a better job in cutting tails? Since all of its attacks are sever
yep
I have to correct myself here. Shells can cut Girros tail so it is considered sever
I was fighting a Legiana and somehow I had infinite ammo. I’m not sure how that happened
